I heard about Capuno's Lutong Bahay through the article in the SB Independent! I admittedly had never tried Filipino food before and knew it was a must-do the next time I was in Santa Maria. When my mom and I were coming to Santa Maria for a movie, I suggested Capuno's. She had also never tried Filipino food before but was ready! When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the display case with all of the treats. They had desserts ranging from ube brownies and cookies to rice pudding. We ended up ordering a chicken combo plate and halo halo. While we were waiting for the chicken plate, the halo halo came out. My mom and I dug in and it was soooo good. I knew halo halo was composed of various parts and was wondering how they'd work together. They worked great! The corn flakes added a lovely crunch to the ube ice cream on top. I loved digging into each component. My mom also thought it was very delicious! We took our chicken plate to go. When we got to eating, it was very delicious! The chicken was perfectly cooked and the sauce was very flavorful. The rice was delicious as was the pancit. My mom really liked the lumpia. Overall, the food from Capuno's was very delicious! I happened to try a chicken plate from another Filipino business and whilst delicious I realized that I preferred the pancit from Capuno's. As I was driving between LA and the Bay Area, I decided to stop for lunch in Santa Maria. As I was about to turn left, I was overjoyed to see Capuno's Lutong Buhay on the plaza's signage. I didn't have any plans for lunch until I saw Capuno's sign and it led me to eat Filipino Food for lunch. I entered their spacious restaurant with a decent amount of tables, chairs and walking area. I noticed their bamboo decorations and framed pictures of their menu items. I truly felt welcome and did not hesitate to order in Filipino/Tagalog. I ordered their Barbecue Chicken plate and it comes with pancit bihon, lumpia and steamed rice. There's an option to opt for garlic rice, but I opted for regular steamed rice. The plate only cost less than $18. I waited for my order for less than 10 minutes and the plate was graciously brought to my table. The barbecue chicken was flavorful, tender and perfectly charred. The pancit bihon was very flavorful with generous portions of meat and veggies. Their fried lumpia has a unique taste with ground meat and chopped veggies. Capuno's offers legit Filipino cuisine in Santa Maria! It's perfect if anyone's craving homemade Filipino entrees while driving along the 101 between SoCal and the Bay Area. My wife and I try to come as often as we can. I love getting any and all the "silog" meals. The tortang talong is very good too. My wife loves their liempo. Their halo halo is great as well. And you will regret it if you don't get their coconut iced coffee. It's very much family owned and operated. Raul runs the kitchen and cooks everything himself. His wife will run the counter. Stopped by while staying in Santa Maria since I heard that there was a good Filipino takeout place and found this place on Yelp. I love Filipino food and had a lot of it in the Philippines. My family got the Sinigang, pares, inasal (bbq), and the beef broth. Every dish was great. The sinigang and beef broth bowls were big and the flavors were quite good. Sinigang was p sour and the beef in the broth was super tender. The inasal was also quite authentic. I haven't had pares before but it was flavorful and the star of the show. Each dish came with rice, pancit, and lumpia. The pancit was very good and the lumpia Shanghai was homemade, crispy, and fresh. The shop owner Raul came out and chatted with us. He was very friendly and told us they recently opened in 2023. The business is all family run and they make all the food themselves. Prices were reasonable and the portions were generous. The ambiance was very relaxed and comforting. Not sure if they have a lot of business right now but considering the quality, they def should have more! The menu has changed but they still had our favorites - a pork adobo combo & pansit. The combo included the adobo, rice, pancit & lumpia. Their adobo is slightly different but good. There are bones in their version so just be sure and check for them. The adobo sauce is very good. The lumpia is excellent. The pancit is good but a little light on the veges & chicken, mostly noodles. If they 'beefed' that up, it would be perfect. Was in Santa Maria area, thought of Filipino food and found Capuno's "Lutong Bahay" which means "Home Cooked." Looked promising with fairly good ratings. However, I was not impressed since I know what a real good "home cooked" Filipino cuisine could be. I tried the special of the day, Pinakbet which is basically a mixture of vegetables sauted in either fish sauce or shrimp paste. Their version was boring, dry, served in too small of a portion compare to price $18, and lacked some protein like pork. The side fried egg rolls or lumpia and noodles aka pansit were good. I liked the Uber crinkle cookie a lot but the Ube cream cold brew that lacked cream, not so much. I may go back to try other dishes but I wouldn't go out of my way for it either. read more

I came to Capuno's once with my boyfriend and loved it. I finally had the opportunity to order their catering size plates and got the famous lumpia and pancit for a work potluck. When I tell you that the food was GONE within minutes. Everyone loved it more than any other food. This is an excellent family establishment that provides excellent quality food with some of the best customers service around. I recommend trying any of their desserts, as they're all made in house, and are fantastic. I will be patronizing this business more often. A 10/10 experience. They are the kindest restaurant owners in Santa Maria. We were on a road trip up north during Thanksgiving holiday. Having difficulty finding a restaurant that open late at night, the owner was took an order from us even thought they are closed already and cooked up authentic Pilipino dishes for us , a hungry family of six. They even gave us extra Pancit so we can share at the hotel. What a great experience! I highly recommend giving Camino Lutong Bahai a try when you are in the area. The food here is very good. On our first visit, we had the Inihaw na Liempo and the Tortang Talong. My loved her plate (Inhaw) and we both thought the pancit was very good and fresh and the beef lumpia was packed full of meat and flavor, I didn't think there was enough eggplant and the Tortang. We did like the food enough that we went back the next day for another order of the Inihaw and the. Tried the Lechon Kawali and more beef lumpia. The food is very good and worth the trip. The menu isn't huge which means that the dishes they do are paid attention to and very tasty. Do not knowing the menu stop you, ask and they will inform you on everything. Food comes in combo and ala arte. The combo comes with Lumpia (think of the best egg roll you ever had), Rice and Pancit (thin noodles that rock) and you choose your main to go with it. I had the BBQ and let me tell you don't miss it !! And the crispy Pata is a must !! Think crispy pork like no other. The crispy fish was also very good and I know I'm gonna sound like a broken record but try it and DO NOT MISS THE DESSERTS .
