Had a great experience at Boonie Thai. Just got back from Thailand and I had a meeting with some colleagues at BTC. The owner is from Bangkok and the menu has plenty of choices and lots of flavor. I tried the Sweet Basil Chicken dish with rice on the side. Service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant looks dated but clean. You can find authentic flavors here. Had the pleasure of having dinner at Boonie Thai Cuisine and was really happy with my experience. Firstly, service was amazing. We got to meet one of the owners and he's such a caring man. You can tell that him and his wife care about their restaurant and those they are serving. He even took time to play with my friend's baby which we absolutely loved. Food was great! We ordered the duck curry, the combo lo mein, and the shrimp fried rice. Everything came out fresh and in good timing. The restaurant is a large size and can fit any size party that chooses to dine there. Really enjoyed it here and I employ everyone to try this establishment. read more

This was my introduction to Santa Maria, and it didn't disappoint! I love Thai food, so I had high hopes for this place, and I have to say that the food was really really good. The Penang Curry was creamy and light and the Pad Thai had a nice sweetness. I loved how the place felt a bit dated. It almost felt like I took a trip back to 2005/2006, which is usually a concern, but in this case, works really well. Went for lunch a week ago. First-time visit. Ordered Chicken and Shrimp Pad Thai. NOT much chicken on the plate, 4 tiny pieces. And 4 Small shrimp. ( Shrimp was Fishy tasting.) This is a family owned business...the food here is so good! The dining area is well lit, clean and spacious...good for large group...they have a large menu selection. I came with a large group and most of the dishes were seafood amd vegetables which looked fresh and flavorful. Ordered takeout the other night. I've always loved this place but hadn't been in years. Maybe we hit an off night but it seemed ingredients were missing in the pad thai, the chicken in my thom ka gai soup and my chicken satay was barely edible, so over cooked and tough and the peanut sauce was odd tasting and in appearance. Ordered pad Thai and did not like it. It was bright orange, lacked flavor and was super oily that I couldn't eat much. I only ate about half and didn't care about taking the leftovers. They also served us tap water and you could tell, so I didn't drink anything. Owner was nice but not a soul was there and it was dead silent (felt awkward). Definitely not going to be back read more

I visited this place when I town for work. They were closing soon because the rain had kept the guest away. I met the owner which was very accommodating and sparked a great conversation. I liked her recommendation of a seafood plate. It was mostly good but I think ordering it to go took something away from it. I always feel that a sit down experience is a better tasting experience. The Phad Thai was almost unrecognizable with a redish very sweet sauce... with no hint of fish sauce tang. Curry dish was OK, but still only a 2 star value, quality and taste. Best dinner I've had in a long time on so many levels. The food and hospitality were great. I asked the older gentlemen that was serving me about the leaves in my soup. He ran outside and came back to show me the fresh ones he just picked from their Kaffir Lime Tree that was out front. I was by myself and he sat down to tell me all about it. I asked when they produced fruit, and he again ran outside to get one of the limes off of the tree and then cut it up for me to taste. Very nice experience. Ordered the Thai Fried rice with chicken, red curry with pork and Pad Thai takeout as we were passing through. The food was so bad I felt compelled to write a review. I've never had Thai food so bad before. The rice was bland, the red curry didn't have a curry flavor at all and red curry is my go to curry at any Thai restaurant. We have tried all the thai places from SM to Lompoc. This place didnt make the cut. The Pad thai lacks flavor and is bright orange!? The combo rice was eh. Frozen veggies and the crab on top was canned crab and had such a strong smell. My husband did say the curry was good though. I really want to try out this place after reading the reviews. As I didn't have time to dine in, I ordered to go. This is the review of the two dishes we ordered the other day. Fish cake (appetizer) - I would give a 5 star for the fish cake itself. Very authentic. BUT the dish on a whole, I take off two stars coz the portion for the "side dish" is way too little. A tiny side just is not enough for 4 big fish cake. That is just enough for 1 fish cake not 4. Next is the Seafood Three Taste. When I opened the box, I was like "what??!!" This doesn't look like Thai dish. It looks like a American deep fried seafood than Thai deep fried seafood. The difference between the two is that Thai deep fried seafood are never coated with so much batter. So if you order this you'll be eating mainly the fried flour batter - 3/4 batter and 1/4 seafood. So this is a pricey dish since you're only eating very little seafood. The pictures are deceiving! As for the gravy: First, it's too watery and too sweet. I ordered Medium spicy thinking it'll be spicy but even my son who doesn't eat spice said it's only a little spicy. So the Medium spicy is around 3 on a scale of 10. BUT It's way too sweet. I ended up adding more fish sauce, soy sauce, chili flakes and cook it longer until it's not as watery. Lastly, the lady owner looks like she hate working there and is kinda snobbish. Maybe it's not her day but a few other reviewers state the similar observation. A better attitude toward would up the rating. So all in all, max I can only give this 2 star for now. read more

Hmmm what can I say. The food is good. I enjoy most of the dishes. But the service is not good. The lady, and a gentleman that work there are just rude. It seems like they hate working there. Every time I go the restaurant it is almost empty but they always have lots of to go orders including mine. Maybe it's because the people are not friendly. I don't know but I do like their food but not their short tempers. I will probably keep ordering food to go. We ordered the Thom Yum Goong Soup it was very good but very spicy. We immediately asked for water. My husband ordered the Pahd Thai Noodles with chicken and I ordered the Imperial Seafood. We decided to order both spicy.... we thought we could handle it. It was very delicious but very spicy. Next time we order medium lol. We ordered two plates to go for the kids , the Egg Drop in Heavy Soup and the Chow Mein Noodles with chicken. My daughter loved the soup and my son really liked his food but he liked the spicy leftovers more lol. Lady upfront was nice. I got the pad Thai, but it was not good. As someone who has tried multiple authentic pad Thai locations in the Central Valley. This was very disappointing and does not compare not even a little bit. The food was bland, had no spiciness, and had no seasoning. On top of that it was expensive ($17). When I got my food it was dry and stale. I would not recommend anyone who is a pad Thai lover. This would not be a good experience. read more

When you think Thai restaurant you think Thai staff serving food in a tropically themed restaurant, right. Not this place. How 'bout a Black man serving insanely good Thai food in a 50's diner complete with pink booths and a soda counter. These guys prove that if the food's good the rest of it sometimes doesn't matter. For a short time I was a regular but now I only make it up here about 1x a year. Otis remembers me every time. I've tried several things on the menu but nothing tops the Shushi. Lightly breaded fish in a spicy curry. It's awesome!!!! Hang on .......It's 1AM now. I could be there by 4, sleep in the car until noon and have Shushi for lunch! Yeeeesss.
