Great customer Service! Good portions on food and fresh! Clean restaurant! This was my first time trying BBQ land and I'll be back for sure :)

I'm traveling into Santa maria for a wedding. I google Santa maria tri tip restaurants. This one is open and I didn't have time or reception to look at reviews. I'm a short amount of time, I called my order over the phone so that it could be ready by 12pm. The restaurant is in an older strip mall in the corner. There's plenty of seating in side. My food was ready. I got take out so I can't really say if service is good or not but the guy that gave us our order was nice. We know that Santa Maria is known for their tri tip. We ordered the tri tip sandwich lunch plate. It came with a choice of 2 sides. The tri tip sandwich was a huge disappointment. It was tiny and the slices of tri tip were dry and flat. The bbq sauce that came with it was OK but it tastes like something you buy at the store. The garlic bread was cold! The salad looked wilted. It was just a salad. Looking over the menu, this place has so many choices. They have Asian food as well. We got the fried rice for my mom in law. She liked it. I didn't try it. I feel like maybe this place should stick to Asian food.

We were passing through Santa Maria and wanted to try their famous Santa Maria Tri Tip steak so we ordered a tri tip sandwich, salad , and chicken fried rice. The rice dish was good. The salad was just lettuce but the dressing was great. The tri tip steak sandwich was fantastic, but the portion was on the smaller size. The service was friendly. The inside was nicely decorated. Give them a try for great tasting Santa Maria tri tip.

Great hold in the wall BBQ place. Saw the reviews and decided to try. They did not disappoint. Cashier was friendly and told us that she had been working there for years, worked with the father and now the son, so family owed! Highly recommend if you are looking for a BBQ spot

2 quarter chickens, rice, beans and macaroni.

I been coming here for many years mainly for their chicken combos. I usually get a half chicken, rice, beans and macaroni salad. Well tonight I tried to get one but they didn't have any half chickens ready not for an hour but they had quarter chickens so I ordered that. Thigh and leg was great, but the chili beans weren't the same, I normally mix the beans and beans and it taste great but I started to mix but couldn't get that taste so I dumped that idea and just put soy sauce in the rice. The macaroni salad was decent, it has been better. Customer service is great, they are smiling and being attentive. All I can say is work on those chili beans.

This place is a solid 3.5 star. I had the tri-tip sandwich with a side of coleslaw and potato salad. My tri-tip was good, it had a good smoke flavor. The potato salad was good, coleslaw was so so. wanted authentic Santa Maria tri-tip, it was good, I would like to try a few other places. I will continue my search!

    best friendly service!

Oh boy, real Santa Maria BBQ! Woo Hoo! Tri-Tip is the name of the game in these parts so that's what I'm doing. Got the Tri-Tip Dip and a side of BBQ sauce so I could have it both ways. I was really looking forward to these West Coast Chili Beans too. Wife wanted BBQ Chicken so I got her the BBQ Chicken Combo. I asked the girl at the register if we could get dark meat with the combo. She looked a little confused and said "You mean like Tri-Tip?" Oh boy. No, dark meat chicken like a thigh and drumstick. "Oh, do you want a breast or a thigh?". Let's roll with the thigh, thanks. Our food came out pretty quickly. I asked for horseradish for the Tri-Tip Dip and was politely told they don't have any. Silly me, why would they have horseradish when they sell a French Dip Sandwich? The Tri-Tip Dip was decent. Not going to lie. The West Coast Chili Beans were a disappointment. I expected so much better. The BBQ sauce was runny and tastes like molasses and maple syrup. Nah, Stick with the Au Jus and you will be fine. The Chicken Combo was a train wreck. Beans cold, rice cold, chicken overcooked by a mile. It's not easy to overcook the hell out of dark meat chicken but they found a way. Wife not happy, at all. It's another one and done. Sorry Rancho Nipomo Deli & BBQ.

All 4 of us ordered the Tri Tip sandwiches. The tri tip was very flavorful! probably the best tri tip I had ever had. TH=here was some good smoke flavor in that meat. Sliced very thin, it was so easy to eat. No fighting the meat. Bread was buttered. BBQ on the side was Sweet Baby Ray's. I found that the BBQ sauce took away from the sammich, so I did very little dipping. If I come again, which I hope I do, I will order that sammich, but prepared in the same manner in which they prepare the roast beef sandwich. We took some chile verde sausages home to try, and those have a strong and memorable chile taste. For people who do not like spicy, beware. For the rest of us it is a satisfying burn. It is a pork sausage. Wife denied the purchase of the blackberry habanero sausage, so I will be left wondering about those. We also grabbed their pesto mayo. We will be trying that this week. I think I would have liked it on my tri tip sammich. I love pesto on anything. Place ain't cheap, but what is?

The waitress came by and checked on the tables on both sides of us and didn't even look our way so I had to go to the bar and order my own second beer. The oak grilled open faced rib-eye sandwich was absolutely incredible. I'm not exaggerating when I say it had more flavor than Wolfgang Puck's CUT. The rib-eye was perfectly cooked to the medium temperature I requested, tender enough to bite through without a knife, and seasoned exactly the way Santa Maria style beef should be. So many places are too conservative with the seasoning these days, but they got it just right. Even the bread underneath the steak was perfect. It didn't even need salsa, but of course I tried it both ways. Honestly? I couldn't decide which I liked better because the sandwich was outstanding on its own. We also ordered the linguiça appetizer with garlic bread. The linguiça had that slight char from the grill that gives it so much flavor, and the mustard served alongside it was the perfect pairing. My mom ordered the prime rib sandwich with grilled onions and chose the 50/50 fries and grilled onions. The only minor criticism I have is that it wasn't quite a true 50/50 and could have used a few more grilled onions. Other than that, it was delicious. The pinquito beans have a little kick, so if you're sensitive to spice, keep that in mind. Personally, I wouldn't change a thing. The whole meal took me right back to growing up in the Santa Maria Valley cruising Broadway on Saturday while the entire town smelled like oak fired Santa Maria barbecue. We cook a lot at home, and we're pretty serious about our beef, so eating steak at restaurants is usually disappointing because very few places compare. That's why I was so impressed today. This wasn't just a good sandwich.. it was one of the best rib-eye sandwiches I've ever had. To whoever was running the grill today: outstanding job. You absolutely nailed it. I'll be thinking about that sandwich for a long time.
