I got the best haircut and color of my life at this salon! They have a dizzying selection of hair artists to choose from. Honestly, from their bios, they all sound amazing to me! But I was most drawn to Zoe D'Amour (and not just because they have a stellar name!). The salon is very hip and Zoe had an uber cool set list playing. A good cup of coffee was offered and accepted and we were ready to go. I wanted a radical change from my long hair, which was dragging my face down. I went in with the "genre" of style that appealed to me but I wanted Zoe to feel unrestrained by the limits of my Google Image search. So I gave them only the most general criteria and asked them to do whatever they thought would look best. I'm so glad I left my hair in their creative hands! They brought my hippy hair into the present. It's crazy flattering to my face and my jawline. Next was color. I have always wanted pink streaks but my hair is naturally white and very dye-resistant. Zoe mixed up the perfect shade of pink and wove it masterfully in and out of my hair in varying degrees of intensity. It's absolutely gorgeous! I want to keep it like this forever but I know Zoe will create something equally fabulous next time I see them. And there will definitely be a next time. read more

Update to address things in the owner's response. I NEVER approved an additional $65 charge. How can you say it represented the additional appointment time when the receipt clearly stated it was for a haircut trim? You have my number. Since you have the footage of our appointment, please show me proof that I was given the price of $65. I never booked an additional time slot and I sent over pictures of my hair both in text and when I made my appointment. My stylist knew the length of my hair and said she was able to do everything in the time frame I booked. If she changed my booking to reflect an extra 30 minutes, I was not made aware of that and I did NOT consent to it. If you can find proof that you didn't scam me, please share it with me and I will happily delete my review. As for total, I made a typo and will update it. I meant to put $500, not $600. However, I did mention that was including cleaning supplies to show how this caused extra time and money to fix. Regardless, $500 is still a lot of money. Lastly, my hair has been bleached about 3-4 times prior to this appointment. Some parts of it was practically blonde. My stylist knew this before I came in, and I restated it during my appointment. "Brighter purples require pre lightening". My hair was lightened already, so please don't act like I don't know what I'm talking about. I've been getting my hair consistently dyed purple for almost 3 years now and have never had an experience like this. Kim Valdez is amazing! I originally went in for a layered bixie cut and she did a fabulous job, however I was having trouble styling it on my own. Kim proactively reached out to check in and see how things were going and then invited me back in to see what we could do to make the cut work better for me. We ended up turning the bixie into a super chic bob and I couldn't be more thrilled! The pictures truly don't do it justice! My crunchy ends of my layered mane was in dire need of a change. I researched stylists in the WC and PHill area and I kept landing on Capybara. I liked their alternative styles they offered and a brief overview of their stylist strengths. The algorithms reached my TT platform and one of the videos that popped up was Peezy's page and the latest shag she had done for a client. After reviewing her work, I felt that she was the one I wanted to go with because her variety and style was I felt aligned with and booked her for a long hair cut. Peezy is polite and quiet, which personally I prefer but don't ask for (note: the site does offer the type of service you want in terms of stylist persona). I watched her briefly when she did my cut and after a few minutes I stopped because I trusted her process and I wanted to give myself an element of surprise after she was done. Wash, cut, dry and style, she was done within an hour. And the results: a hush cut that got rid of my dead ends, added movement, and face frame bangs that I have been in love styling since. Capybara is a great salon filled with wonderful stylists! I found Capybara off of social media and had been thinking it was time for a cut. I found some inspiration photos to use as a jumping point and just ran with it. I used their new client form and they made recommendations of stylists that would work well with the inspiration photos. I did some insta research and made an appointment with Jasmine who had photos similar to what I was thinking about. Jasmine did an amazing job! She listened to what aspects I liked from the photos ideas and what I wasn't sure about. I was glad to have her input and recommendations, especially as someone that is chronically indecisive. We went with a whole new look with bangs, extra layers and a halo color. I adore the rainbow prism pieces in the halo that Jasmine recommend and I have received so many compliments. While I haven't worked with the other stylists, Peezy and Katya were at Capybara working while I was there and they have amazing vibes which made the salon full of life and positivity. I decided to book an appointment at Capybara to treat myself since I haven't gotten my hair professionally done in a while. I had a 4-hour appointment with Valeria (who by the way was really nice and friendly to talk to), and while the salon itself is really nice and relaxing (I love the aesthetic and vibe), my hair results wasn't great. I came in wanting a half money piece, my underlayer bleached, and curtain bangs. Before starting, Valeria asked me if I wanted to bleach my roots which I said yes to, but she didn't bleach them. My money piece starts about a ¼ inch from my roots and the underlayer a whole inch away, so it already looks grown out. She also didn't leave the bleach on my bangs as long as the rest of my hair, which made them turn out more yellow and uneven compared to everything else. When it came time for the trim, she didn't ask if I wanted to keep my V cut or go straight across. I thought she'd confirm after I showed her the length I wanted cut, but she just went ahead and cut it straight. On top of that, my curtain bangs look choppy and uneven. The results looked so unfinished. As someone who hasn't been to a salon in over 10 years, I was really hoping for a better experience especially for the price of $400 that I paid. Unfortunately, I think I'll just stick to doing my own hair at home like I've been doing. read more

It's a really cool salon. It has a great vibe. You can be as chatty or as quiet as you want to be. I booked the appointment and I'm so glad I did. Lydia was so informative and sweet, she is truly an artist the way she cut and styled my hair exactly to what I envisioned. The appointments are by hour and gratuity free- payment can be through the card on file making everything super easy and effortless. my niece wanted to write this review cause she doesn't have yelp: I spent 10 hours in this salon to get calico hair. We agreed on thin blonde and deep orange streaks all around my hair and keep some brown hair. My hairdresser, Sera, spent 6 hours bleaching my hair. (They get payed by the hour and should NOT have taken this long. I bleached my hair when it was longer and it took 4 hours). At about hour 7 they started coloring my hair finally. They start to rinse and Sera starts to freak out. Another hairdresser starts to help them and they start blow drying my hair. I start to look at my hair and notice that sera gave me bright orange and GREY streaks. They go and tell my mom that they fucked up my hair. They end up calling the owner and have her come back to fix my hair since it is so horrible. They also gave me ONE blonde streak down the back middle of my hair. The owner was the one who turned it all around and the reason i'm not rating this place 0 stars. She was so kind and generous and fixed my hair completely and cut the price more than half. read more
