My crunchy ends of my layered mane was in dire need of a change. I researched stylists in the WC and PHill area and I kept landing on Capybara. I liked their alternative styles they offered and a brief overview of their stylist strengths. The algorithms reached my TT platform and one of the videos that popped up was Peezy's page and the latest shag she had done for a client. After reviewing her work, I felt that she was the one I wanted to go with because her variety and style was I felt aligned with and booked her for a long hair cut. Peezy is polite and quiet, which personally I prefer but don't ask for (note: the site does offer the type of service you want in terms of stylist persona). I watched her briefly when she did my cut and after a few minutes I stopped because I trusted her process and I wanted to give myself an element of surprise after she was done. Wash, cut, dry and style, she was done within an hour. And the results: a hush cut that got rid of my dead ends, added movement, and face frame bangs that I have been in love styling since. Capybara is a great salon filled with wonderful stylists! I found Capybara off of social media and had been thinking it was time for a cut. I found some inspiration photos to use as a jumping point and just ran with it. I used their new client form and they made recommendations of stylists that would work well with the inspiration photos. I did some insta research and made an appointment with Jasmine who had photos similar to what I was thinking about. Jasmine did an amazing job! She listened to what aspects I liked from the photos ideas and what I wasn't sure about. I was glad to have her input and recommendations, especially as someone that is chronically indecisive. We went with a whole new look with bangs, extra layers and a halo color. I adore the rainbow prism pieces in the halo that Jasmine recommend and I have received so many compliments. While I haven't worked with the other stylists, Peezy and Katya were at Capybara working while I was there and they have amazing vibes which made the salon full of life and positivity. I got the best haircut and color of my life at this salon! They have a dizzying selection of hair artists to choose from. Honestly, from their bios, they all sound amazing to me! But I was most drawn to Zoe D'Amour (and not just because they have a stellar name!). The salon is very hip and Zoe had an uber cool set list playing. A good cup of coffee was offered and accepted and we were ready to go. I wanted a radical change from my long hair, which was dragging my face down. I went in with the "genre" of style that appealed to me but I wanted Zoe to feel unrestrained by the limits of my Google Image search. So I gave them only the most general criteria and asked them to do whatever they thought would look best. I'm so glad I left my hair in their creative hands! They brought my hippy hair into the present. It's crazy flattering to my face and my jawline. Next was color. I have always wanted pink streaks but my hair is naturally white and very dye-resistant. Zoe mixed up the perfect shade of pink and wove it masterfully in and out of my hair in varying degrees of intensity. It's absolutely gorgeous! I want to keep it like this forever but I know Zoe will create something equally fabulous next time I see them. And there will definitely be a next time. read more

I decided to book an appointment at Capybara to treat myself since I haven't gotten my hair professionally done in a while. I had a 4-hour appointment with Valeria (who by the way was really nice and friendly to talk to), and while the salon itself is really nice and relaxing (I love the aesthetic and vibe), my hair results wasn't great. I came in wanting a half money piece, my underlayer bleached, and curtain bangs. Before starting, Valeria asked me if I wanted to bleach my roots which I said yes to, but she didn't bleach them. My money piece starts about a ¼ inch from my roots and the underlayer a whole inch away, so it already looks grown out. She also didn't leave the bleach on my bangs as long as the rest of my hair, which made them turn out more yellow and uneven compared to everything else. When it came time for the trim, she didn't ask if I wanted to keep my V cut or go straight across. I thought she'd confirm after I showed her the length I wanted cut, but she just went ahead and cut it straight. On top of that, my curtain bangs look choppy and uneven. The results looked so unfinished. As someone who hasn't been to a salon in over 10 years, I was really hoping for a better experience especially for the price of $400 that I paid. Unfortunately, I think I'll just stick to doing my own hair at home like I've been doing. read more

This is such a cute small shop that has lots of options to help you feel comfortable. (Like mirrorless or quiet appointments) Brittany-Lee helped me reach my hair goals in just two visits, it was magic! She's so kind and funny, great to talk to but also important, very easy to trust with your hair. For my hair cut it felt like she took one look at my head and knew what to do, I've never had a better cut or color! I booked an appointment with Rachel and expressed that I was wanting a new style. I have very curly hair and I needed her to help me make a decision on whether to temporarily blow it out or permanently straighten it. When I first met her she was super patient, asked a lot of questions to make sure she could achieve the vision I had. I have a lot of gray hair coming in and some texture changes from aging. Made an appointment for my daughter, I realized 3 days before the appointment that I had an unexpected conflict with the same time as the appointment, because of their policy of needing to cancel 48 hours before or will be charged 50%, I clicked on the email link from them to cancel and instead it confirmed the appointment, I attempted to email them to please let us reschedule as I attempted to cancel within the time period of their policy and they denied my request, told me that if I want to reschedule I have to first pay for this appointment and went ahead and charged my account, when I stated I will not be paying for a service I have yet to receive for my daughter, they charged my account after the fact. This is awful customer service, not only will I never come this the salon, but I will be telling anyone and everyone as well, to not come here. read more
