LOVE love love this place! I've since moved away from the area, but still drove back down here from Sacramento because I've been so happy with the way my hair is done here. I've seen both Karissa and Skylar for haircut and blonding/color. I have dark brown, basically black, Asian hair that has been previously bleached/toned either at home or previously at a salon. I am not from the Bay Area, but I know just how lucky I am that I found Madison and that she is at Stem. I have a ton of hair- like a lot! Madison is so patient and never rushes through an appointment even when getting me blonder takes all day. I always feel refreshed and so happy after every blonding appointment. I wanted to update my review, because there has been a big positive change. When I first started to get extensions at Stem, I didn't love the hair quality, it faded pretty badly,(blonde and brown) it seemed to break pretty quickly and only really looked nice/fresh for the first 4-5 months. I didn't realize this was not the best quality hair until Stem salon got their own brand, and I LOVE It so far! BIG DIFFERENCE! This hair does not start to look stringy or feel really dry after 5 month. The wefts have more hair per each one, they lay much flatter and I don't fell the bulky-ness on my head. They also don't have the frizzy edge from the hair being tied to the weft, they are silky smooth! This was a great move by them and they knocked it out of the park (so far...) I have now had their brand hair in for 5 months and they have kept their length pretty well, they don't feel super dry and brittle and they style well. I have had to tone them once so far and will need to again next week when I get my move up (which is an added cost.) My problem has not been the blonde in the extensions, but my brown fades kinda quickly. They fade to a tolerable color that blend fine but that is something to keep in mind, if you don't mind the extra cost, toning fixes this every time..the last extension brand faded straight orange. I go to Alana now (missy found a new salon home) Alana is freaking awesome! She never misses a beat, always a perfect install, she color matches like a boss and really gives you EXACTLY what you want every single time. She is really really really good. I'm really picky about things poking out, or poking me, or something feeling loose etc, I have never needed to come in to have anything adjusted with Alana, it's been perfect every time! AND my extentions blend perfectly (which I am also SUPER picky about) and I have not touched any blonde up except my money piece in 5 months. I will finally touch it up next week, I can't wait! Hair day is always a really exciting day now! Extentions are definitely a big investment. It's not just the hair cost and move ups, you also need to pay to have them toned, once they start breaking, you need to have them trimmed.... And you need quality hair products to keep the integrity of the hair! Also fair warning, once you go to two rows.... It will be impossible to go back to one row ‍ so this can add up real quickly. I will update this review when I have had this hair for 10 months. (I did not last past 9 months on the other hair) let's hope it keeps up the good work! read more

They keep flagging me. I can only imagine how many 1 star and bad reviews they do this to. NOT HIGH END, NOT LUXURY, NOT QUALITY Overpriced. Level 4 stylists are charging $500 for a cut and partial highlight upkeep, but the result is FRIED and Zebra striped. (Note, I had been a client for 4 years and this was not a one off) My stylist stood over me, while I was laying back in the wash bowl, and ranted about personal beliefs and unprofessional topics for 10 minutes, causing me to feel uncomfortable and trapped. Bad vibes. And fake, false advertising. read more
