After having my oil changed at Jiffy Lube #2899 8624 S Tamiami Trl /Sarasota by Spence and Clay, the engine light went on and it had a labored sound. This was not normal and didn't have it when I arrived. Given they couldn't open the hood or change a lightbulb in the headlight, it seemed best to seek other input. I can't say enough about Car Care Connection. They got my car in first thing Monday morning dropping my car at 7:30 am and after an inspection diagnosed the problem before 9 am. Jiffy Lube left the oil cap was off. Thank God I only drove 8 miles! Needless to say, I will be asking Jiffy Lube for a refund! The time this shoddy work has commandeered has been insane. I recently moved to Bradenton from Sarasota but had taken my previous vehicle and now my current one to Car Care. 3 years ago, I was laid off and my Dad was ill and I needed to get my car fixed due to an oil leak. Unfortunately, it was going to cost me alot of money that I didn't have and decided not to get it done because of my situation. I was not charged for the diagnostic and I just started crying. I never told them about my situation either. I was just so grateful. Unfortunately my Dad passed away, my job situation had changed and I got another vehicle. I'm surprised these guys dont have a ton of rave reviews yet. I've been coming strictly to them for all my Jeep's needs (a lot of them, ugh) since I moved here over two years ago. The few guys that I regularly deal with are very honest and straight-forward and it is much appreciated, as I feel I've been duped by mechanics in the past. I've had multiple issues with my vehicle and the guys were so concerned about my safety over my shitty brakes that they did the work and just had me pay them when I could. That kind of customer service does not happen just anywhere. They're seriously great people. There was only one time when I got a second opinion because my stupid car was overheating and the one mechanic who checked it out (who normally does NOT work on my car) said it was the whole radiator that had to be replaced. When I got a friend to look at it we discovered it was just the cap. A very basic fix that I may have ended up spending hundreds of dollars for something that was just a few bucks. When I informed Tom and the guys about the mistake they were very apologetic and sincere. They even said the next time I came in they'd give me a discount for my troubles. Despite that one misstep all of my experience here has been really nice and prompt and I'll always recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy shop. read more

THANK YOU is all I can say to Tom and Roger!! I had my vehicle looked at before we made a road trip from Texas to Florida. I knew my a/c was starting to have issues. However, my repair guy said to let it roll as it might be a while before it goes out completely. Well, our 11 hour drive in one day pushed it to the limit and it got waaaay worse by the time we got here. I took it to another repair location that wanted far more money to do the repair. I took in my 04 Nissan Frontier. It was having a problem with the brakes when you release the pedal it would make a squeaking sound. I dropped the vehicle off and they called me two hours later and said that it was going to be $50. That it was only a build up of brake dust that was making a squeaking sound. I was expecting to have to drop $250-$500 for new brakes or pads. These guys are honest which is hard to find. Highly recommended. We take all our vehicles here now. read more

I am traveling from Ohio on vacation and driving a friends van. I noticed a front low beam headlight was out and went to Advanced Auto Parts (AAP) to buy a replacement bulb. The lazy people at AAP would not help me change the bulb. So I called Car Care Connection. They were awesome! Replaced the bulb in 3 minutes and didn't charge me a dime. Based on all recommendations here about knowledgeable, great customer service, explain the job in details, etc. So, I brought my truck in for an oil change just like other 38 oil changes before this. After giving truck info to the guy behind the desk, I was waiting for him to provide what oil the shop offer, wait time, etc... none was offered. A little irritated, I asking him what type of oils are they using here, Amsoil is the replied. They never ask which type would I want: Signature, XL, or OE for Amsoil. Nope, none of that information was ever offered. On paper, they list Amsoil/Mobil1, so how come Mobil1 wasn't being mentioned? At the end of the oil change, the sticker on left of the windshield should have stated what type and grade oil used. Again, only the word "synth" was used. There were no useful information on the final receipt, just a short description about the oil change and all fluids check. This is laughable, the tech did not inform of extremely low coolant level, which it was! No description of the oil manufacturer, viscosity, grade used... none! So much for customer service and informative, blah, blah! The only thing I noticed here was all customers that came in, seem to know the people in the shop. Perhaps that reflects on many bias reviews that I seen here. Just get out often, then you will appreciate what knowledgeable and good customer service suppose to be. read more

Had it not been for the interaction I had with Sean, I would have rated this place of business much higher. I made an appointment because my AC was failing. After inspecting the car, I was told by Tom that I needed a new compressor, and a new heat exchanger, but also my front tires were worn due to an alignment issue. Fixing this requires two new tires and an alignment.. The total bill was over $2000.00. I drove away, and before I traveled very far east on Clark Road, the tire pressure indicator came on. I did a U-turn and called the shop telling Sean about the problem. When I arrived, Sean told me the following. Our tester shows that the front end is one inch higher than the rear end due to the new tires. (I checked the diameter of the new tires relative to the old tires and they were indeed larger, but only by 1/2". That would account for the front end being ¼" higher, not 1" higher.). Sean continued by saying our model does not have in-the-rim sensors, but relies on a level detector to sense that the tires are flat. When I questioned the logic of that statement in that a level detector which depends on the earths gravitational pull, therefore would send a signal when going up or down hills. He proceeded with some double talk which threw me. I later checked with the Toyota dealer I purchased the car from and he verified that indeed the model did not have in the rim sensors, but relied on measurement of wheel rpm to detect a flat. That made more sense, but he added that a small difference in tire diameter would not set off the sensor. I tried several times to contact Tom regarding my interaction with Sean. Sean answered the phone and said that Tom was not in. read more

I brought my truck to Tom for a problem with skipping. He told me the plugs were all clogged up and charged me 750$ . I drove not even out of his parking lot and it was still skipping. So he told me it was actually a 2,000$ fix and he wouldn't deduct the 750 that I wasted to include in the fix of the real problem. I went to another mechanic and they FIXED the problem for 150$ after Tom priced me at 2,000$. He has ripped me off plenty of times and lied straight to my face to get extra money. Very over priced and work very slowly. I am very dissatisfied! read more

Took my vehicle to Car Care Connection and they fixed the Air Conditioning but it came out to be more than they had estimated. Later when the air conditioning failed again I took it back and they said that it would cost another $1000, approximately. Also told me that it was not related to the first repair they did. Then took the vehicle to another mechanic who fixed it for $130 and told me that the first repair had failed. Bottom line is get another estimate. read more

We've been taking our cars to Tom at Car Care Connection since he bought the business almost 10 years ago. He is curteous, explains the problem fully in layman's terms, and gives complete attention to each customer. His crew is efficient and careful handling our vehicles (floor mats, fender cloths). We see the same faces in the garage which gives us confidence they're good at what they do because a place with high turn over indicates problems. They do their work with precision, I've never had to return for something they overlooked or was incomplete. The prices seem reasonable to us for all the work he's done over the years (our vehicles are over 100,000 miles now).He's the only one we trust to service them after trying a couple of other places who came out with fix-it lists and printed estimates after only an oil change. Car Care Connection does not do that! No pressure but information with a suggestion to keep an eye on what else they might notice while on the lift. read more
