So here for a month from New Hampshire and saw something leaking onto the driveway from my truck. Checked the oil and it wasn't too low, so I was wondering if it was brake or possibly transmission fluid, although it looked and smelled like oil. Just showed up at their place and they were so friendly. Said they could at least put it on the lift to see what was up. Steve discovered a loose oil filter and tightened it up, added oil, and cleaned the bottom of the oil that had blown all over the undercarriage. Total bill twenty bucks. Went into Swift Auto Repair and was told the bulb in my headlight would cost over $170, require 3.5 hours work because the bumper had to be removed. Went down the street to another garage and got everything done in 30 minutes for $60. Another thing that irked me was that when I called on the phone I was told that bulb replacement on a headlight is generally less than $10. When the new owners took over a few years back, things went downhill. The sellers appeared to be honorable and honest. Too bad I can't say the same about the current owners! read more

I drive an '04 Nissan 350z. I had a subtle knocking noise when I was turning the wheel at low speeds. It usually happened when I was pulling out of my driveway or a parking space. I was afraid that my ability to steer might be affected by whatever was causing the noise. I decided to take my car to Aamco in Sarasota. The guy working there was very nice and even offered me a ride home while they looked at the car. A few hours later he called and said that it was the steering rack, and that it would be $980(parts, labor, and an alignment). I didn't have that much to spend. He offered $100 off the price, but it was still too much for me. I decided to call around to get a couple other prices. After calling around, Swift Auto was the lowest. I had been there once before to get my door handle fixed. I was extremely happy with their work, but never thought that their price would be the lowest around for my steering rack issue. I brought the car into Swift. The man working at the desk asked why I was bringing the car in. I told him the truth. I said what Aamco told me, and that I was there because they had the best price. He asked what the symptoms were that I had noticed. After I described the issue, he said that he would call. The next time I spoke to him, he told me they found what the problem was. It wasn't the steering rack. I thought to myself... I hope it's not going to be even worse...... Actually, there was NOTHING wrong with the car! After 2 1/2 hours of work(driving it, looking at it on the lift, ect.) they found that it was a flashlight that I keep in the rear storage compartment. It had been rolling around from one side of the compartment to the other and bumping against the walls. It was only happening at low speeds, when turning. I couldn't believe it! Days have gone by w/out the flashlight back there, and no knocking sound! After this experience with Swift Auto, I will NEVER go to another mechanic as long as I live in the area. They are the first shop I have ever found that I can completely trust. They saved me nearly $1000, when all they had to do was agree with the diagnostic opinion of Aamco, and perform the work. I can not begin to thank them enough. They are the best in town(just like all the other reviews I read). If you are looking for a mechanic, there's no need to look any further. Drove into Swift Auto Repair with dead directional flashers. Despite obviously having lots of other work, they quickly diagnosed the problem and sent out for the replacement part. While we were waiting, they pressure tested the cooling system and the radiator hose sprang an impressive gusher of a leak. (I'd been smelling coolant for some time, but assumed it was just the result of my slovenly pouring of fresh coolant into the radiator.) A new hose was quickly obtained and installed along with a new flasher. I was out of there in less than an hour. Having been recently savaged by a rapacious dealer, I was shocked at the very reasonable price. The staff were all good-humored, highly competent and worked together with the effortless ease that comes only from long experience as a team. I'll be returning to Swift for a tuneup next month and never again darkening the dealer's service counter. read more
