Late review but better than never! Hubby was looking to purchase a car. We had been to a few auto places but were very unsuccessful in our search. He did see a BMW sedan that he liked from another dealership but they gave him the runaround when it came down to go through the financing aspect. So we continued looking around and came upon a BMW that was for sale here that was the same year and make so we decide to make the long drive from the city to Palatine, IL. We had a 3/23/24 2 p.m. reservation. We walk in and are greeted by Yuriy. At first personally I didn't really care for him because he seemed like he was a fast talker. Upon looking at the vehicle, I noticed that there were noticeable scratch marks on the vehicle that you couldn't see on the pictures they had. I could tell hubby was a bit disappointed because he could see himself in that car. Yuriy kept the process going and wanted to show us some other luxury vehicles they had in stock. Hubby saw a 2012 Mercedes that caught his eye so Yuriy quickly went to get it. When he let us look at it, it was beautiful. Silver grey, one owner who took very good care of the car and not a scratch on the car. No accidents. We test drove it and it was super smooth. Yuriy seemed genuinely happy that we saw something we liked. He gave us the CarFax information. Hubby gave me that look to say "I want this car". We went through the process of paperwork and the explanation of extended warranty. We were there for awhile. I think hubby thought he was going to leave there with no car but Yuriy changed that and saved the day! He really took time with us and never rushed us out. I would highly recommend Car City. We had a good experience and they pride themselves on having trusted mechanics on site to inspect the cars before they go out on the lot to be sold. I purchased a vehicle from Car City on November 22nd. The buying process itself was smooth, and the drive home to Wisconsin (just outside Milwaukee) went fine. Unfortunately, the issues began less than 12 hours after purchase. The following morning, while driving in normal traffic, I suddenly lost acceleration. It turned out the left axle shaft had completely shattered. Prior to purchasing, the car was on a lift and I noticed a newer boot on that axle. I was told work had been done on it, and at the time everything seemed fine. Because of the failure, I was stranded on the side of the highway for approximately 7 hours before I could get a tow truck. The vehicle was taken to Import Minded in the Milwaukee area, who did an excellent job diagnosing the issue and explaining everything clearly. The repair cost me well over $1,000 in parts and labor. After the incident, I was told I would receive a call on Tuesday, December 9th. After hearing nothing and spending two days calling, I finally received a text from the manager on December 17th stating that there would be no compensation for the repair, my time, or the overall experience. While I am ultimately happy to have the car--it's been something of a dream car for me--the post-purchase experience was extremely disappointing. Being stranded for hours and then receiving no support or accountability afterward made this a very frustrating situation. read more

And tell you they have a great place that they usually use...Lies! then they will add bogus cost to the vehicle! Then they will give you plates even if you tell them you want to use your own, more money for them. also they will sneak in $1000,00 saying that they did a complete check on the vehicle...another lie! The vehicle might look good but believe me they just use armor all too make it look good. They don't do any repairs to the vehicle all lies. I asked the sale manager what was the extra grand for "we had to replace some parts bull sh*t !! PLEASE take your time and really look at the vehicle and if you buy it take it to a real shop for them to do a good look at it! This is a very unprofessionally run business. I had a deal in place with Miguel regarding the purchase of a car. I came in to take it for a test drive, and noticed a few things that I wanted corrected prior to purchase. I was called to come to pick it up, and I notified them that I would be arriving in about an hour due to the distance away. Shortly after that, I received another call stating that the car was sold to someone else. I was not originally given an option to put money down for this car, as I would have done so. They brushed it off as "first come, first served, and "they paid cash." If that is truly the case, then the car should have been offered to me first, or I should have at least been notified that another person was also interested. Upon calling to discuss this with a manager, I was told that nobody was really in charge, and that it was a small place. Basically this business is just a free for all, with inexperienced people doing whatever they please in whatever way they feel that day. They claim to "take pride in their professionalism and integrity," but fail to put this into practice. Terrible business etiquette. read more

I was so excited to look at the car I wanted. When we had gotten there both men in the office were not wearing masks. So hand sanitizer in site. We told the man how much I could afford and what I would like my monthly payments to be around and how much I was putting down. Then told him we would like to discuss the price of the car he said we can discuss the price after we find out of your approved or not. He ran my information the price was no where close to what we discussed he started grabbing paperwork. I told him no I was looking for atleast 60+ with payments being between 100-200. With 5000 down. He told me he could only offer 30+ and payments would be between 300-400. I instantly stopped him, I didnt wanna waist my time anymore. Idk why he didn't mention it before when I told him EXACTLY what I was looking for when it comes to financing. He instantly became ignorant and started to accuse us of waisting his time. The man was rude and unintelligent. I felt as if I was being drawn into a scam. I do not recommend anyone going here and waisting your time. He didn't even know anything about the cars which was very sad for someone working at a used dealership. Plus all the cars we looked at were over priced according to KBB and they were destroyed. The leather had many many dings and handles were falling off compartments. Parts of the cars were melting which I found really nasty. Just please go down the block across the street from the Toyota dealership there is two very respectful men that will gladly help you find what you need. I have bought several used cars over a lifetime and have developed my own routine to purchasing used cars. Once I establish the make, model and year, I search the web for the best combination of price, mileage and ownership records. Car City was a pleasure to do business with. I found the car online on their website which is very easy to navigate -- complete with tons of photos, an informative narrated 360 walk around video tour and online access to the Carfax report. I was looking at a 2008 Mercedes SL550 that was attractively priced and in very nice physical condition. I contacted Dimitri by text with a few questions via their online inquiry form. I received a quick response by text and I followed up by phone. The conversation was friendly, informative and professional. Once everything checked out, I let Dimitri know that I was interested in the car but that I wanted an independent mechanic to check it out. Without hesitation, I had Dimitri's full cooperation and they drove it to the nearby shop I picked the next business day for an inspection. I could tell that Dimitri was confident in the quality of his cars. I later discovered that each car goes to an outside mechanic before going onto his lot. My mechanic found a problem with the steering wheel pump which he said was very hard to find because it was not yet a full-blown failure. I told Dimitri about the problem and he stepped up to make the modestly expensive repair and covered it entirely out of his end of the deal. I agreed to place a deposit on the car and Dimitri ordered the necessary parts. We operated on a handshake deal that the car would be mine once repaired. I don't normally do that but the whole experience made me feel comfortable that I was working with someone who cared about his reputation. Dimitri and I had a candid conversation about my trade in. It was a low-mileage 2009 Eos in excellent condition. I looked up the Kelley Blue Book Trade-in value online and got a trade-in quote on Carvana. I gave Dimitri my best offer for what I wanted and he agreed subject to seeing and driving the car himself. I had a surprise problem with title documentation that Dimitri waited patiently for me to resolve. The trade-in test drive and inspection was informal and the agreed upon price was met. In the entire transaction, I never felt pressured or pressed. There was never a surprise or a last minute change. I am used to be dragged around at the end to buy warrantees or finance or other post sale options. None of that happened. After test driving the car, I was out the door in 30 minutes. The car is fantastic. The experience was pleasant, friendly and professional. The whole way through -- from start to finish -- I felt like a valued customer. Very poor service. Sold me a car with issues to the battery, glove box, and mainly a tire which was punctured. I returned the vehicle to have the tire inspected and was advised it had been patched up. Within a day the tire was flat and Car City refused to replace. I paid $200 to replace and even offered to agree to $100 refund from Car City to meet in the middle. They refused. Very poor and I would urge any potential customers not to use this business and to buy a car elsewhere. read more

I worked with Dimitry who initially sent me the nicest text message I'd received in my month long car shopping hunt after my inquiry into a 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid which I ended up buying. Like any used car, be sure to take it to a mechanic to have a look at (they were so nice about this, as it took a couple hours) as there was about 2k of work needed on the car. They didn't come out and tell me this before I had the inspection done, however to be fair, I did not specifically ask either, as I was already planning on taking it to a mechanic, with their permission, if the test drive went well. I would highly recommend Car City. Just do you due diligence as a buyer and be reasonable with a how much you expect them to move on price, even with needed repairs, as it isn't like buying a new car, at all. I got an awesome highly sought after Toyota SUV that was garage kept, one owner, smooth (basically silent) engine, 28mpg avg, for a great price. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE! I saw an ad on craigslist for 2001 Honda Passport in 2011 and wanted to see the car. I was told the car was in excellent condition and that it had been recently inspected, so I wouldn't have any problems. I came all the way from Iowa to see this car and being an unexperienced car buyer, I ended up buying this junk. After that it was problem after problem. After I told Dmitriy about it, he did nothing. Watch out and get everything in writing. They will try to bullshit you. I was told a part was ordered and will be installed on a car I purchased over the weekend. Then on the following Monday I was told to come in the car will be ready. I didn't actually go until Tuesday and the "so called part" was the wrong one and they had to reorder. So it's now Wednesday and they JUST ordered the part. Why didn't they order on Tuesday?? This guy also tried to tell me purchasing a car will increase your credit.....WTH! So just make sure everything is documented and do not give a down payment until everything is final. I bet the part would've been on the car if I didn't give them money! 1.0 out of 5.0 2007 Audi A6 4.2 by AudiFanGmbH from Waterloo Iowa | March 28, 2014 I bought a 2007 Audi A6 4.2 S Line from this place last week. First mistake I made was not getting this car inspected by an Audi mechanic. Now I know these cars very well but I am no mechanic by any means. I noticed a slight rough idle in the car when it was cold. Test drove it thoroughly and drove it lightly until fully warmed up, then gave it the full beans twice when at proper engine temperature. Drove about 220 miles to a suburb of Chicago from eastern Iowa to get this car described as in perfect condition body wise and mechanically. Getting there first thing I noticed is yes the body of the car was in really good condition. Ended up buying the car and was about 180 miles on the way home and the oil check level light came on the dash. Pulled over immediately to see that the oil level was fine. Tells me it has a faulty sensor. That was just the start of things...get it home and notice its running rougher and starting to scare me. Drove it to the shop to try to get it in for an oil change and a few minutes before that the check engine light itself comes on and the car begins to run very rough at this point and misfiring. It was intermittently running like that so I carefully drove it to the shop close by immediately. Take it there to find out when he takes the valve cover off the oil is sludged up badly inside the engine and the oil is very dirty. On the Carfax the dealership provided me it said the oil was changed TWICE in less than a thousand mile period...something seems fishy. Come to find out the misfiring issue requires the whole engine to be pulled out(a major major job) and a tensioner that runs the timing chain system is very worn out due to the oil sludge making it work super hard. Bank 1 and cylinders 1-4 all misfiring. Shady thing was that when the mechanic used VagCom(VW/Audi software diagnosis program) it pulls up the engine codes I described but shows right before I bought it these misfiring codes existed prior and someone pulled the battery to clear the codes. I was fuming mad at this point. The service to fix this problem is going to cost me $5000, normally more but the Euro shop I go to is extremely reasonable. Dealers charge up to $11,000 for timing service on a chain driven 4.2 V8. I asked them a few times to help me out even a tiny bit on this bill and all they offered me was a couple warranties that I'm about positive wouldn't cover this especially with a pre existing condition and one of the companies said they don't cover VW V8'S. I asked them numerous times if they could find out if they cover my engine, never followed up on that for me! I told them all the details and I understand the car is as is but this is an extreme situation. Car City Inc. even told me to get an actual statement of the problem of the car and send it to them. My mechanic did all that and faxed off a statement to them and all I was offered again for their "couple options for you" were warranties. One I know for sure wouldn't cover the car and other didn't seem like it either but I would never know cause they never contacted me again. I never threatened or swore at them or anything I stayed professional. A good dealer would take all this into consideration and help a customer out as much as they could without losing money. I didn't talk them down one dollar on the car(yes my fault I know). And who knows who pulled the battery if it was before I purchased the car or if they did it them selves I'll never know. Horrible customer service is all I can say and lucky I made it home and didn't destroy the engine itself and have to have the entire engine rebuilt. Good luck buying from them and don't expect help if something drastic happens after purchase. And GET IT INSPECTED BY REPUTABLE MECHANIC LIKE I DIDN'T before purchase!! I was convinced before driving all that way that I wouldn't be disappointed at all and car is in perfect condition. Could of bought a working A6 and had money left over elsewhere! I ask Dimitri bunch of question about the vehicle and everything I heard was just positive. So I bought it without any hesitation and after It arrived, I found that car has: bad rear suspension air -cylinder, bad air compressor, dashboard cracked and filled with some kind of filler, stitched and temporary repaired upholstery, clanking noise from the front, missing parts and who know what else in the near future. I try to talk to them but they do not care much about it, or at all............ what they care about is to screw you and make as much money as they can read more

I've read the current reviews of the dealership and was in doubt whether to go there or not. But everything appeared to be not that terrifying) I've added 10k to the original mileage on my Nissan. So far so good. Mostly oil changes. Had to change O2 sensor but it was 30 bucks for the part and 15 min of work. I've checked the car on the official dealership before the purchase so was pretty sure that it will run for a while) I like the attitude of the guys at City - no push, no hurry, no side sales of costly but unnecessary warranties, etc. Got a good discount and financing pretty fast and easy. So, hopefully I'll have nothing negative to add in the future... read more
