Professional service, but two major safety oversights…read more I have mixed feelings about my recent experience at Purdy Hyundai. I brought my 2024 Hyundai Elantra in for a 30,000-mile service (costing $1,100), but what followed was an incredibly stressful and dangerous afternoon. The Issues: Engine Failure: After leaving, my car blew a cloud of black smoke and lost power while entering the freeway in heavy semi-truck traffic. I had to limp back to the dealership with the engine shaking. It turns out a step was missed during the fuel line cleaning, leaving non-fuel residue in the lines. Undercarriage Failure: After the first "fix," I headed home again. 40 minutes into my drive, the front undercarriage cover fell halfway off and began dragging. I was stranded on a rural stretch of the freeway, 40 minutes from the dealership. The Recovery: Despite these major mechanical oversights, the staff at Purdy Hyundai were exceptionally kind and professional. When I called from the side of the road--exhausted and frustrated--they were apologetic and immediately offered a loaner and a tow. While they didn't have staff available to drive to my rural location that evening, they coordinated through Hyundai AAA to get me off the road quickly. The next morning, they replaced the damaged panel and personally drove my car out to my home (almost an hour away) to deliver it to me. Verdict: The technicians clearly made some significant errors that put me in a dangerous situation. However, the management and service advisors handled the aftermath with grace and high-level accountability. They made it right, even though the experience was a nightmare. I appreciate their kindness, but I hope their service department implements better quality control checks in the future. I thought about giving a star rating of 3, but chose 4 instead because I've taken my car here for all service needs since I bought it, and have had nothing but positive experiences. I also chose to give a score of 4 stars because of the professionalism and accountability from all staff members who helped me. My car is doing much better now, as am I.

Poor Experience Buying My Son's First Truck My 20-year-old…read moreson recently purchased his first truck from this dealership. Unfortunately, they took full advantage of his inexperience. The truck was sold to him in poor condition: Rotors needed replacing Tires were out of balance Less than half a tank of fuel Almost out of DEF Due for an oil change Only came with one key The check engine light came on while he was driving it home Vehicle was not ready for sale. When we reached out to have these issues addressed, there was very little urgency or willingness to make things right. For a young buyer purchasing his first vehicle, this was extremely disappointing. We expected better, especially from a dealership selling to a first-time buyer. Because of this experience, we will not be purchasing another vehicle from them.

The car…read moreis as expected but when a check engine light came on they could not properly diagnose the issue resorting to changing the engine. Really? I have many years in the automotive service business and there is always a cause to any complaint. Never once have they given one just kept throwing new parts at a problem. Now after changing the engine, which did not fix the problem, the heater core is plugged with trash from the salvage engine. To make matters worse they want to charge me 1700.00 to change it out. After hours of dialogue and explaining that it is not failed it is just in need of a flush, no dice. I strongly recommend avoiding this company!

Most of the vehicles were out of state, so i had 2 shipped to Tulsa. My first experience wasn't great. I initially worked with Tyler, who didn't seem to take me seriously. Because my license listed a different city, he assumed I was taking a 24-hour test drive out of town and denied me the opportunity. It left a bad taste in my mouth and made me hesitant to continue. Still, I had already shipped two cars in, so we decided to try again--and I'm glad we did. This time I worked with Maegan, and she completely turned the experience around. She was kind, professional, and actually treated me like a customer. I wasn't a fan of the automated text responses (those bots got confusing), but Maegan always helped clear things up quickly and made the process feel more personal. She assisted me with test driving the vehicles, navigating the trade-in process, and even using the 10-day return policy. I really liked both cars I shipped in, but ended up going with the Toyota in the end. It arrived later which is why I bought my first and ended up returning the car and getting the later. There were some hiccups with slow computers and what looked like system changes, which could easily frustrate anyone--but Maegan stayed patient and was incredibly helpful through it all. If you go to CarMax Tulsa, I definitely recommend working with Maegan!

In my opinion, the car/SUV/truck sales business in Tulsa and Broken Arrow is long overdue for a…read moremajor overall starting with treating the customer with dignity and respect. I was in need of a car so I could visit my wife who was hospitalized with major health issues. I informed the Qualified Value Auto Sales car sales "professional" of this and together, he and I looked over various cars on the Quality Value car lot. I located one I liked, so he and I took it for a test drive. After we returned to the Quality Value car lot, I asked if he had the title for this particular car. He looked through his desk and was unable to locate the title. He said he would need to speak with his manager and would get back to me. A few days later I received a phone call and was asked to participate in a three way phone call with his manager. I made the call and asked the manager when he thought they would have a marketable title in hand. He said he should have the title within a week from DMV and that the title would have their Qualified Value Auto Sales listed as the owner. I asked to please have your salesman call me as soon as the title arrives. They said they would call me when they had the title. I waited and waited and there was no return phone call. So, one evening I went over to the Quality Value Auto Sales lot, looked around carefully and noticed the car was missing. I then called the next day and asked the salesman about the car. He said they had just sold it to a customer for cash. The hospital required me to be present so they could get my authorization for various procedures they wanted to perform on my wife. Quality Value Auto Sales actions left me in the lurch.

I based my purchase on the record of seemingly good reviews. I bought a 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ on…read moreMarch 12th, 2022. I paid twice the book value for this vehicle, for a few reasons. 1. It was in really good shape for the year. It was clearly garage kept, and it was also the exact model and year I had been searching for. 2. I was told by the two salesmen who work there, that the jeep was just recently serviced with all new fluids, new shocks, coils, front a rear diff fluids, etc. 3. It was claimed to be a one owner locally owned vehicle (however there were actually two owners because the owner of the car lot registered it and drove it for 6 months, even though I was told they just got a jeep 2 weeks prior to me coming in) 4. These jeeps have become hard to find, and if you can find one in original form, in good condition, they are worth more than book value states. I did my due diligence and checked the jeep inside and out, and visited the lot more than one time going over the jeep. I discovered the AC did not work, and they claimed it has always worked. I took it for a test drive and everything seemed fine. I asked for a detailed list of all the things completed when it was serviced, and they backtracked and said they couldn't remember what all was done. When I came in to buy it, one salesman said the price was firm and impossible to improve on, however the other salesmen had already told me he would take 500$ off the asking price. They honored the 500$ off. I drive the jeep home and felt very pleased about my decision. Today is March 16th. 4 days have gone by, and 50 miles since I left. I have a huge puddle of coolant in my garage. I have traced it to the water pump. However Thin is 150$ fix and a weekend of my time. So not a deal breaker as it's an old jeep and likely the original water pump. However, the rear end has developed a bad whine. I took it to a local shop and they pulled the diff covers off. They determined the gear oil is completely burned and destroyed, as are the gears in the rear end. So after 4 days it has become unable to drive and the cost for new ring and pinion gears, oil, bearings, etc, is around 1,500$. Obviously this is very upsetting. I reached out to the salesman I worked with. I explained the situation and asked if there was anything they could do. Hoping they would offer the customer service to either have the mechanics that "just serviced" the jeep, repair this. Offer to cover a repair from my mechanic, or at least offer to split something. They did not. They told me all cars are sold as is and told me they could forward me the as is paperwork again if I lost it. They completely ran away from any costumer service once they had my money in their hands. I will not work with these guys again and if you have the ability to buy from another small local dealer here in tulsa I would highly suggest it. I'm reasonable and I understand it's an older jeep and of course it's not perfect. That's where the AC leak and water pump leak fall into. However, when I pay double book value, for a jeep, I kind of expect the to not have to add a few thousand more on top of it to make it drivable. Even if this was preventable, I still expect a dealership that prides themselves on customer service, to step if and offer some sort of help. Not tell me to kick rocks.
