What a terrible way to run a business. We made an appointment two weeks ago to get a dash cam installed. We dropped the car off at 10am, and were told that it would be done by 6pm. This service was paid for in advance as well. We spent the entire day in Toledo waiting for the car to be finished, only to get a phone call at 5:15 (they close at 6) to be told that the car was not done. Husband goes into the shop and says he wants a refund because they didn't complete the job, and the guy (PZL) said he wouldn't refund the $670 charge. What?! I don't recommend this business, and from the other reviews I have seen, I'm not alone. read more

I feel like I was scammed. My husband bought me a remote start for Christmas for my 2021 Colorado I got in November. We took the truck into have it installed and it was there all day. We finally called an hour before they closed and asked if it was done, the worker said yes it has been done no one called you? My husband said no, but we are on our way. We arrive there and we were on a hurry bc we had dinner reservations. We get home and then on the way to dinner I am trying to download the app and set up the remote start. It is not working..... So on Monday my husband calls and asks why it won't work. The worker then informs him we don't have the proper equipment and need an additional part! I would think that since they do this for a living they would have noticed that..... also I would have thought they would know that a 2021 Colorado comes with a remote start. I had no idea as this is the newest car I have purchased in years. I have a 2005 Buick and a 2012 Acadia that I totalled in November. I got the Colorado when my father died, I do not think he even realized it had remote start. So basically I feel like they scammed us when selling it to us, and I really feel like they scammed us when they forgot to tell us we needed an additional part and would have to come in AGAIN and leave the truck for an entire day! When my husband asked how much it would cost to have it removed they said we would have to bring it in and have them look ..... you just installed it a month ago! I have used them twice in the past and would never return. And my husband did ask specifically for the app starting ability! Terrible Customer service. I went in because my remote on my alarm/auto start system I purchased there was not working after I had my car in for break service at another shop. The Guy at the counter told me I had to drop off and leave it with him so they can reprogram my system. The mechanic shop must have disconnected the battery. Really ?? For a break job? You mean every time I change my car battery I will need to bring it to car stereo one to have you reprogram my system? I paid 700 dollars for this system. He was pretty rude and told me I would have to drop it off for the day and would not even make an appointment for me. I think they changed ownership since I bought my alarm system. Anyway. I changed the battery in the remote and everything is working fine now. It was a coincidence that by remote battery stopped working after I had service done on my car. I'll try to make a long story short. I came in to get a quote for a speaker front driver side speaker replacement in my truck which had the BOSE speaker system in it. Ended up getting talked into 4 new Focal speakers, against better judgement. I always do my due diligence, so this is partially on me. I was told if I dropped off the truck at open (9am), it should be done around mid afternoon. Fast forward, it's the day of the appointment, I arrive about 30 minutes after open (9:30am), drop the truck off and leave. I get a phone call & voicemail from them at about 3:30pm, they say that my tire pressure light is lit up on the dash and my running boards aren't working. I call them back and told them I'm aware of both, they tell me it's standard procedure when they pull a vehicle in to do an inspection. Odd from an audio/stereo shop, and it was never disclosed they do this any time prior. I didn't take my truck there for an inspection, I took it there for speakers to be installed. Before I hang up I ask if they have a timeframe of when the truck might be done, Aaron says in short "Nope, don't know. We'll give you a call". Abrupt and rude, but onward we go. It's 6:40pm and still nothing from them, I call them and tell them to leave the keys in the truck once they're done. Also worth noting, I called around 4pm and mentioned this had to be done that day, as I needed the truck that weekend for work. They said yeah, no problem. Fast forward, I get phone calls around 8pm from them, couldn't get to the phone so I expect a voicemail saying the truck is done. Nope, nor any actual verbiage saying the truck is finished. Finally, Parker texts and asks if I want the truck unlocked or locked. So here I am at 8:30pm driving to pickup my assumed finished truck, hours past the timeframe that was initially given. Sounds like it was put off until the very end of the day. I pick up the truck and right away I notice the speakers are quieter. I come to find out the next day that these speakers are 4ohm and the BOSE system was 2ohm. Also, that the BOSE amp does NOT pair well with aftermarket speakers without additional components (aftermarket amp). Circling back, this is partially on me for not researching enough. It's Monday of the following week, I call and verbally indicate to Aaron my concerns and how I am not happy with the new speakers. He tells me to come in the next day and talk to Parker the owner. I come in the next day hoping to find a solution that works for the both of us, instead I'm met with an arrogant owner who does not care what customers have to say or the feedback given. It was like our conversation was going in circles with nothing getting through. I voiced that my issue was how I was really disappointed that I was not told beforehand that changing these speakers out, while maintaining the factory BOSE amp, would cause a drop in overall power and the sound level would go down. He said that it's always their recommendation that an aftermarket amp be installed and paired with speakers, but again this was NEVER mentioned at all up until this point, when the speakers had already been paid for and installed. Parker just kept saying how he replaces tons of BOSE systems and rarely gets complaints, all while not actually listening to what I was trying to voice to him. That I WASN'T HAPPY with how the new speakers sounded. The whole conversation was like pulling teeth, hoping that he would suggest some option (that didn't involve me paying out the ass) to make it right. Hoping that he would own up to that fact that not all the details were communicated prior to me paying over $1000 for these new speakers. Instead, I got a quote for an amp at $600 out the door, after taking off about $140 on the pricing. That was his solution. The whole experience was terrible, the only reason I'd even give a single star on this review is because they speakers themselves are not half bad, as far as clarity and crisp audio go. But everything from communication, to customer service as a business was a 0 star experience. I asked the respondent to verify they had me in their system because I didn't want to waste my time getting turned away (don't have a receipt.) He told me to come in and he would take care of it. Well I came in and was told they couldn't work on my car because they had no record of me. I had to take the day off and arrange for an extra vehicle. Have known about Car Stereo One since they opened 37 years ago. Just bought a used Corvette and wanted to upgrade the stereo system. I went there on Friday and was told by sales guy #1 they could replace the head unit and add a backup cam for $1300, and could upgrade the speakers at a later date if I wanted which would cost another $1000. I paid a deposit of $100 bucks and was told to come back today at 9am when the one part came in that they didn't have in stock. I was also told they did this exact procedure on the exact model of car just the day before. Over the weekend I researched all the parts they would be using and discovered they were marking up every item from 15% (on the head unit) to 300% on smaller parts. I don't mind a small retail markup, even though they get the parts at wholesale, but 300% is extreme. I went in this morning to drop off the car and they reduced my cost to $1200. I agreed and left the car with them and paid in full by credit card - even before they started any work. 30 minutes later I get a call and sales #2 told me they couldn't just install the head unit as it would blow out my speakers so they would have to replace the original speakers at the same time (directly contradicting what I was told by sales guy #1 on Friday, and he wasn't in the office that day nor contactable by phone). It's worth noting sales guy #2 who told me I would have to upgrade the speakers couldn't remember anything about the Friday conversation, even though I was there for 30 minutes and he was sitting three feet away from sales guy #1. Anyway, I told them that was out of scope and to stop work immediately. I told them to prepare a full refund, went back to the shop and they gave it to me without too much hassle. It's a pity that 1. I have waited so long to get a car upgraded there and this happens, 2. so much of my time was wasted because they couldn't get their technician to spend 10 seconds to inspect the car and 3. there was so much misinformation about a simple purchase and install (sales guy #2 also was deceptive about the USB power amperage - he said it was .5 when it was 5). Either Car Stereo One is really incompetent, intentionally deceitful or perhaps a combination of both. But I know for sure I will never consider going anywhere near their business again. read more

Apparently other employees said that I was harassing them. They lied also my car was damaged. Also employer told me that it will only take 2 hours for them to replace Factory speakers inside my car. I went into Car Stereo One in the spring of 2019 for a new remote starter with a greater distance, as I could not start my car from my office to warm it up before going home. Once there, I let them upsell me into one of the GPS ones you can start from ANYWHERE IN THE WOOOOOOORLD!! I wasn't interested in spending that much, but with the extra features and the app, it was fine, and I went with it. Now it's Feb 2020, I renewed early and paid $100 for the next 3 years, although the past few months I've had 3 different times where the app was completely grayed out and would not make a connection or start my car. After the third time a few days ago, I sent in a ticket. I got a response telling me I can pay the $99 upgrade fee to a better model because apparently my coverage with this one sucks here, and the downgrade in service started the very next month after I bought it. I said nope, I spent $600 on a remote starter I didn't even originally want, and i'm not interested in spending even MORE money to get one that functions at all less than a year later. Dude responds saying I won't have to spend more money, he will refund my $100 for the next 3 years, and I can put it toward the $100 upgrade which includes a year, and not pay anything. I respond back, breaking it down that um, yes, I'm paying more. I paid for three years of service. Paying $100 for ONE year means i'm putting another $67 towards a remote starter for which I already overpaid, and in a year I'm putting out another $100 for 3 years. And now i've gotten zero response back-- except my app is suddenly grayed out nearly ALL of the time now. So much for starting it from ANYWHERE IN THE WOOOOOORLD!! I can't use it at work with my car right outside my office building, and I can't use it at home when my car is right outside in my driveway. An absolute piece of garbage. I'm livid. I'll be calling Car Stereo One today to speak to them about upgrading it for free, or removing it and refunding me, or I'll talk to Visa about my chargeback options. I will go elsewhere and get a quality brand installed by people who are a bit more trustworthy than to upsell something that has shitty 2G quality all over the entire area. read more

Car stereo one. Highly overpriced. Customer service is horrible. Set a appointment for my son 2 weeks before to get stereo equipment installed. I gave them details of what needed installed also. They said bring it in at 9am and it should be done by close. 3pm car still was not being worked on. We live a hour away. I had to drive there to pick up my son. I asked them why his car wasn't done. And they said its a lot of work. Yeah I bet thats why car is being sitting outside all day. So I asked when they would have it done. And they said they would call in the morning. No call. So we decided to shop in Toledo the next day so we would be up there. 4pm no call. We called them. Not done. Stopped there at 530pm. Still not done. Said it be another hour. Nope try 2 1/2 hours. Then the fun part. The quote of $1105.00 turned to $1352.00. They said they call or ask if they added anything. Never did. They said they installed a 24.99 antenna. I said wow. I needed to replace the stereo in my travel trailer and didn't know where to start. I've been hearing Car Stereo One commercials for 25 years and their website currently features a "complex" audio system they installed on a cigar boat, so I thought it would be the perfect place to start. I took the stereo into the store and asked if they could help me find a replacement. The only wiring coming out of the back is 1 antenna cable, and 1 harness with red and black power wires, and 4 sets of speaker wires. I explained all I really want is a simple car stereo with radio and aux-in and possibly blue tooth. I also explained that I would be able to customize the opening so size wasn't an issue. The first guy I talked to said he wasn't sure and went and got another guy who I waited 5-10 minutes for to come up. That guy picked up my stereo looked at the front of it for literally 3 seconds and said, "yeah, we won't have anything to replace this, you're better off going to a RV store. I'm not sure how the conversation with cigar boat owner went that they featured on their website, but for me, I guess I won't have any reason to ever come back here. read more

Had a remote starter installed. It was supposed to work from my key fob and from the smart phone app. After they installed, they stated that the one I purchased only works with the smart phone app, not the key fob. Funny when I brought the car in for installation, I forgot the second key, they then verified they can get it to work with only one key. Turns out they did not even need the one key because the version they sold me does not support my key fob. Also, when I went o pickup the car, the salesman tried to start it with the keyfob, after 2 attemps, he says, 'oh that's right this does not work with a Ford Escape or Ford Focus'. I paid to have my windows tinted on a 1999 Buick Le Sabre during there black friday specials. I have always been happy with them in the past , but this last purchase has made me very upset with their customer service. My friends and family know I keep my car in prestine condition. When I got my car back I noticed the back material near the rear glass was ripped and pulled back. They took over a month to finally get back with us and tell us we did it, not them. I have worked in retail for 30 years and have always taken care of the customer no matter what the situation. I will never deal with them again unless they resolve this issue. As for now they have lost our friends and families business because they believe that their young, lying, installer did not do the damage. I purchased the smart start system and this was my fourth starter from car stereo one. The starter was supposed to start from my key fob as well as my cell phone. They did not hook up the components to allow it to start from my key fob and I had to drive 40 minutes to return to get it fixed. He thought I wouldn't care about that feature because I was going to get the smart start. Even though I wrote my email address clearly, they misspelled it so I couldn't get connected to the smart start. Viper's customer service is terrible and I had to be on hold on two occasions that day and each time was over thirty minutes. When I was finally able to get everything set up, I found out that they install the starter that requires you to buy the most expensive plan. I wish I would have known. Overall, I have been happy with my experiences here and these were relatively minor mistakes that could happen anywhere. *********update******************** I'm upgrading to 5 stars from my previous four stars because after my starter was installed, it almost never worked. Viper said they were using another network with spotty coverage and if I wanted it to work right, I would have to buy a $99 part. So I took my car to Car Stereo One about 3 weeks ago to have the windows tinted. I paid $380.00. I got it back and there were a ton of bubbles caused by dust under the film. I emailed the owner , Steve Braun. He asked me to give it 2 weeks to see if the bubbles disappeared. I waited (even though I knew they were going nowhere because they were caused by dust) 2 weeks. Contacted Steve back and set up an appointment to have him look at it. Went in this morning. First off, the guy has the personality of a cinder block. Not at all friendly. He comes out and immediately says "they all look good to me". I thought to myself, HE MUST BE BLIND! I began showing him all the spots I was talking about and he's like, "let me go get my tint installer". He comes out and begins looking and tells me "there's no guarantee that it would come out with no dust and bubbles". Tell me why 4 of my friends cars are PERFECT with no flaws? On top of this, this disclaimer was NEVER told to me before I had it done. Had they said that, I would have never let them touch my car!! So he tells me he'd re-tint the back window, but the others are fine. I then tell them I'm apprehensive about having his guys work on my car again (retaliation) and he literally turned his back on me and as he's walking away says "sorry we couldn't help you" and walks back into the building. Bottom line, Steve Braun doesn't give a crap about his customers. He cares about getting drunk. I recommend you to STAY AWAY FROM CAR STEREO ONE!!! The incompetence is VERY real! read more

VERY dissatisfied.Purchased an XM radio ,and made an appointment two weeks out for installation into our new car.On day of appointment waited 2 1/2 hours before they took it into shop. Waited 5 1/2 more hours in a very uncomfortable waiting room,for job to be done??? On the way home I discovered the navigation system no longer functioned, and a large piece of my center console was laying in back seat.Took it back next day,and they got nav system working,and reinstalled panel on center console.Only took 2 hours. Now I notice my brand new XM radio only works if I am driving east,or south,due to placement of antenna,on dash.also some of my trim on lower dash is loose,possibly broken. I am not a whiner ,but these guys are TERRIBLE. I WILL MAKE ADJUSTMENTS MYSELF,RATHER THAN PUT UP WITH THIS KIND OF SERVICE.. Would not recommend to ANYONE. read more

I had a remote car starter installed in December. The work was done on time and the car starter works as advertised. In February, my wife noticed that the lever that works the windshield wipers did not work correctly. It was not possible to get the wipers into the fastest setting. I took the car to the dealer and they said that whoever installed your car starter did not install the lower steering column cover correctly. They fixed it and it cost me $70. I called Car Stereo One and talked to Mike, the manager and he told me to come in and he would look at it. When I arrived Mike looked at my documentation from the car dealer and had his tech look at the car. That took only about 15 minutes. He said that it was possible that they were responsible and that he would send me a check for the $70. Two days later the check arrived for the full amount as well as a $25 gas card. I was surprised and impressed by how the process went and how fairly and professionally I was treated. read more

I have done a good amount of business with them but as of today I will no longer take my business there. I purchased a remote start for my daughter for christmas and she had a few issues with it. When she took it back the tech claimed there were 2 ways to hook this up and they will look at it and correct the install to the better way. 1st of all why not do it right the 1st time? Then I bought her a radio and had it installed somewhere else only to find the remote start has been tangled in with the airbag cords and around a clip which had broke. When my daughter asked to speak to the manager he became confrontational and accused the other business of breaking the clip. The other business even called to explain and to try to work something out as well and again the manager was confrontational with that person. If this is how this company does business, they just lost mine. I have purchased several things from them and given several things as gifts. My experience with this store was terrible. I paid a $50 deposit to make an appointment for a remote start installation in my car. I was quoted a price of $139, which was increased to $189 when I dropped the car off. After waiting 2 hours for the 3 hour job, the salesman said it would cost and additional $50 due to unanticipated work. In reality they hadn't even started the work, so I canceled everything after wasting my day. The manager was incompetent and the sales personnel were scammers. Don't go near this place. read more
