I had called another establishment earlier in the day and was going to go get the ceramic film put on my car there but decided to do a one stop shop here. They honored the price I was quoted, and they were honest and told me the puddle lights I had acquired were not the right size, although they could have retrofitted the pins for me. It would not have done any good as the lights were the wrong size. I consider these guys experts in their field, it's hard to find honesty like this. purchased an alarm for my vehicle. I was told it was properly installed. However, I had to return to this company on 3 different occasions for issues related to my alarm. Today modifications were made to the original system. I spoke with the manager Sean in person regarding my experience . He gave no feedback and look like a deer in the a car's headlights when I explained to him my experience. He never asked me my name or pulled up the service completed by Cartoys company. I don't like long winded reviews, so I'll hit the bullet points. I was owed $504 due to a botched installation. DM approved it. I was advised the paperwork had been submitted to corporate and I would receive a check by 9-10-23. 10-3-23 had not received check. Was told by assistant manager that paperwork had been filled out properly and submitted. Contacted corporate, and was contacted by store manager who researched it and told me paperwork had not been submitted. He told me to go back to store 10-4-23 and he would issue refund. I wish it would have ended there. A 40 minute, very unpleasant ordeal to get refund. Had to have heated conversation with Manager Dalton to get him to provide me customer service. I'm old and cranky, but smart. I will spend my money elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and boycott this place. read more

This place is great until there's an issue that needs to be resolved and that's where they fall flat. Took vehicle in for new stereo, front camera. The product and experience up to them was great. When we went to pickup the car we noticed rim damage and associated gash in the tire. This was not on the pre inspection sheet nor present when we dropped the car off. The tires themselves are brand new. When we dropped it off one of the employees even stated that they'd take care of it since they have "insurance for this sort of thing" We have been out through the ringer with the local store and corporate with absolutely no response to any of our requests no matter what we've tried. The national install manager, Chris Pritts is non existent in terms of customer support. Absolutely nothing. The regional manager, Chris Graham, is also non existent. No communication and no regard to service. What we did discover was that the pre inspection sheet wasn't even signed by us or initialed. The post Inspection sheet was never complete by car toys or signed by anyone. We keep getting the run around and even being asked numerous times what would we like to happen. We simply want what's right: to fix the damage to the vehicle that was not present when the vehicle arrived. Stay away. Things may seem great but when an issue arises they will not be there to provide you the assistance required or stand behind their own warranty or damage terms. read more

Took my new Chevy Colorado in to have my Radar detector hard wired in. The clown that did the install was later fired for being stupid which he proved to be by wiring it incorrectly and shorting out my truck. I had to have it towed to the dealer where it spent 3 days while they researched the issue. $585 later the problem was the car toys installation. I took the invoice and the truck back to car toys to reinstall it correctly. They admitted their error and had their head guy redo it. When I picked up my truck they gave me a signed agreement to reimburse me with in 3 weeks. It now 3 months and they have not sent a check. After the reinstallation I drove 30 miles and my radar/camera unit crashed. I drove back and they claimed the plug shorted out. Now I have a broken camera and no check They guys really suck. Accidents happen but their warranty is worthless. I will be filling suit tomorrow. read more

I dropped off my car at 9am to get the driver window re tinted due to some cospetic damage done during original installation. I thought this was a first come first serve business so I dropped off my car as soon as they opened at headed to work. When I called around 3 for an update they mentioned my car would he done at around 6:30pm. This is completely unexceptionable. I understand redoing a job doesn't bring in new revenue but I shouldn't have to pay for their negligence to begin with. I will never be coming back to this location for any other work. Well had a curious experience there. Went to install a GPS screen on my old van. Due to fittings, install etc the price doubled but ok, 950$. Vendor give me the complete invoice, I was about to pay but meh, I look at a dash cam, 95$, asked about the installation guy says well it should cost you about 200$ total, so in my head total will be 1150 more or less, I say ok, then the vendor tell me well the total is 1350$ with just an upgrade of the original invoice, no mention of the camera , a simple add-on. I was tired and didn't realise at first the discrepancy. The day later I phone them, first to have an invoice for the camera who didn't appear on the invoice he gave me, and then an explication on why a 95$ dash cam camera ended up cost me 400. Hours later I finally received an invoice will all the items on , 1350$. I phone the guy so he can explain. English is not my mother tongue but it was obvious the guy was trying to drown me on technical items to explain this inflation by mixing the 2 installations together. Problem is I have a original invoice with all those items for the GPS receiver for 950$, and I think the guy don't have it anymore and played with the numbers to upgrade the price. Is it normal that a 95$ dashcam ends up costing 400$ for a minimal installation? I am not in Houston for long, but I will pay another visit after some research on other store of the brand to have an estimation of the real price of that item installed. My experience is limited to the Tomball location on 249. Glen was my contact for 100% of the interactions I had and he always answered by questions. Jared was the installer for everything I had done and he was as close to perfect as he could get. I got my car back in the same condition (minus the installed items) that I left it with him. I'm only giving four stars because I asked to have my appointment time changed from one to 2:30. They were okay with it. Once I arrived, they told me they couldn't get me until my original 2:30 time. As an aside: Corporate, if you're reading this, please consider giving your employees adjustable work stations for their computers. So I've been going to the woodlands location because they did the original install on my Clifford alarm system. And it kept having issues. So I went to the willowbrook location. And did not make an appointment totally came in last minute. They told me I'd have to leave the truck there and it would be finished. Very considerate and nice employees. Sure enough 3:30pm rolled around and they called and let me know it was done. Walked me through the repairs and honered the warranty work without any type of fight or issue. (Typically places don't like to honor warranty) I feel like they went above and beyond and possibly replaced things that were not needed to prevent any issue from coming up again because I do not live very close to them. I appreciate what these guys did for me and they have earned my business from here on out for whatever I need. I hope the crew that worked on my 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 today get the recognition they deserve. read more

I dropped my car off at 11am and had some lights to be installed on the front of it. It does not take 6-7 hours to have lights legit run to the battery in order for it to be operated correctly. Would not recommend taking your vehicle to this place. Not to mention when you call them most of the time they don't even answer the phone. What kind of customer service is this. Incompetent and dishonest technician. 1. We were told on the phone only 30 minutes left, so we drive there and the car is still in pieces and I told the technician we can come back tomorrow and he said no because he has off tomorrow and advised us to stick around because he's almost done. We ended up waiting four hours until 12:30 AM the next morning. He told us normally installation in a Mini Cooper is a two day job. Why didn't he tell us that in the first place? He did the quote! 2. We get the car back and we find the radio home button and the Siri button don't work on the deck. 3. Immediately we find the subwoofer doesn't work anymore and is unresponsive to the deck's controls and we no longer have any bass. I informed the sales guy who informed the technician, who claimed that we did not have a subwoofer. That was a lie, because we have the Harman Kardon sound system which DOES have a subwoofer, and we lost all the bass when he messed with it. He said he had to bypass the amp to make the deck work so naturally we "will lose a little sound quality". I told him we lost a LOT of sound quality and he did not disclose in the beginning that we would lose any sound quality, and in fact the sales guy told use our sound quality would improve. Then the technician said that in order to keep the same sound quality I would have buy another harness and buy a new amp. Again, he developed the quote and did not disclose any of this when he did the quote. It was after midnight so I said we will continue this discussion later and that this was BS. I will give them two choices. Either they fix all of this right while restoring our sound quality, or they will put everything back the way it was originally while giving me a full refund. Hopefully we can resolve this fully and in a timely manner, otherwise I will have to involve my lawyer. So in summary, I paid Car Toys $1626 for a $600 deck, a backup camera, and associated parts and installation; and in return they give us deck with two buttons that don't work, they take away our bass and significantly degrade the sound quality in the back seat, and they have us wait four hours at the store only for us to have to bring the car back again. To add insult to injury, the technician lied to us about the subwoofer and then tried to get us to buy more equipment than what he had originally quoted. read more

I recently bought a new car. A FAST new car. What does a new, fast car need? A RADAR detector! And Car Toys had mine -- in stock and ready for install. They quoted me 6-7 hours for an installation (it was a custom install where there are no wires showing, just the controls). They had the thing installed and wired up in under 4 hours, with the most cleanest job I've ever seen! The installation Manager personally showed me all the features of this new radar/laser shifter thingamajig (yes, that is the official term for it) and it worked great! These guys do custom work and they are well worth it! I plan to go back to get the windows tinted (Hey, this *is* Houston) and tinting is almost a necessity. I can highly recommend them, as I have never seen such a more thorough and clean install in all my life (and I've put quite a few toys in my cars!) As the other reviewer said, yes, they are busy and they take a bit of time to PROPERLY install your alarm/stereo/radar detector/laser jammers/ heat seaking missiles (oops, that was a secret install). So, call ahead and schedule the appointment. read more

Came in the car toys yesterday and paid for install for the next day at 12:00. I show up at 12:00 only to literally be ignored for an hour before having someone come to help. 1 hour later the management finally comes up and says that once the technician finally finds a stopping point he will come and check out the vehicle. the only reason I need him to look at the vehicle is so he knows which order to install the amps. Another hour later the installer hasn't even came out to look been waiting for over 2 hours customer service is horrible even the service manager commented about how rude and inconsiderate their installers are. Manager seems scared to tell the installer to take a pause in his work so that he can look at my vehicle so that I can go on my way rather than wait here for another 3 hours for the installer to find a pausing point. What's the point of setting an appointment if you get here you're ignored nobody takes time to even act like you've paid money for install and 2 hours later nobody's even come out to look at the vehicle pick up my keys or anything else when I had an appointment..... 2 hours ago customer service here is extremely poor. Then seen installer out on his phone at least on two separate occasions and still has not come out to look at my vehicle. really just want a refund so I can go to a professional place with at least decent customer service. Installer finishes the job he couldn't pause from to at least get my keys so I could go and leaves the store. Never talk to me at all. Then after waiting 2.5 hours I asked for a refund in which the manager clearly is unhelpful says he doesn't know how to do a refund. I asked him to call the other manager.. who just left. This location specializes in tinting. I went in to ask how much they charge for 3M Hybrid for my Avalon and they guy said $200. He told me to call to setup appointment because it takes about 3 hours to finish my car. I guess they were busy. I checked out the cars they already finished on the lot and they look very good. I went to Executive Tint on Gessner to get my tint instead just because they have been in business for a while. I want to be able to go back after a few years if there are defects. read more

Paid over $100 for an ozone car cleaning. And I have a couple of complaints: 1. Customer service. One word can be used to describe the type of service that was provided and it was HORRIBLE. The workers are not tentative to their patients needs or complaints. Instead of helping their customers, they found excuses or loop holes around it. 2. Effectiveness of cleaning. The car was smelt good at first sight. However, after you turned on the engine, the smell started wearing off less than 1 day of the cleaning. The workers said we could bring it back in if we had any problems with it. (Lets just say this whole part was a lie). Very unsatisfactory. Definitely will not recommend anyone to come here! Please go somewhere else, you can probably spend less money and get a better cleaning elsewhere!!!! read more

Cannot say enough good things about Caden and Thomas at this Car Toys location. I dropped my car off today for an interior detail (I did the Groupon special). Caden came out and thoroughly reviewed the car with me and explained through his process with an incredibly knowledgable, friendly, and nice demeanor (probably the best of anyone I've ever dealt with relative to cars). He clearly worked very hard to be the best at his job and had the experience to do exactly that. I left for a few hours and when I came back, he was still working on the car. I had no problem waiting for a bit and he continued in his thorough manner. At that point Thomas did a great job answering a few general questions I had about the car. Then Caden called me back and I could not believe the car after I saw it -- years of leather stains removed, all dog hair removed form the previous owner (could not believe how much there was), spills and stains of all kinds completely erased -- it was incredible. He then sat in the car with me and took the time to once again point out things of importance. Needless to say, I will be going back here for detailing for years to come. Apparently appointment times do not matter here. I made a 10am appointment for an install I was told would take an hour in order to have my car ready for work. I arrive before 10am and am told it will be at least and 1.5 hours before they even start on my car. This caused me to miss work and miss out on a full days paycheck. ***Warning: This is kind of long*** Recently one day my car stereo was working fine as usual, then the next morning I went to go get in my car to go to work and noticed that nothing was lit up on my stereo. Every other light that was supposed to come on when you start your car came on. I thought that was strange, so I turned the car off and back on, still nothing. I just thought maybe my car stereo had died (I didn't even know if that was possible, I'm not that car savvy at all.) So I drove for the next two days and my stereo was still not coming on like usual. I figured Car Toys might know a little something about this. So after work I headed straight there, I explained my predicament to the first person at the counter who addressed me. He didn't say his name or else I would have mentioned it, but he was ready to help immediately, he didn't put me off to the side or anything, he said lets go take a look at it. He too found it odd that everything else in the car was on except for the stereo and he gave me a few possibilities as to what the problem could be. He then said that what he could do for me was do a 15 minute courtesy check, meaning that one of the technicians could do a general check under the hood and see if they could find the problem free of charge and then if the issue took longer than that 15 minutes we could discuss cost options etc. So I waited and waited with my fingers crossed for good news. It took a little minute which was fine because I did not have an appointment and it was a free service so I was not expecting my car to be first priority. Tim came to the waiting room and gave me the great news that he got my stereo back working! :) I was so happy! He said he took the battery out and let it sit for a little while, then when he put it back in, the stereo was back in action. He also did a battery test and said that my battery was still good. He went the extra mile to make sure everything was alright, he even offered to fix my head lights (they're very cloudy) but I had an engagement to get to so I did not have time. After that I thanked him and I was on about my day. Great customer service, Time was very INFORMATIVE and knowledgeable and had a smile on his face the entire time. Several different employees checked on me in the waiting room and were very optimistic about what the result would be and I truly appreciated that. If I have any other car issues that they can handle I will definitely be going back, and also recommend them! read more

Installers can't get it right. New head unit in a 2017 jeep shouldn't require 3 trips; still not working correctly. Over $1,000 and hours of my time. We wanted to pass along a very positive experience we recently had at Car Toys at Willowbrook in Houston. We were having some issues with our factory stereo system and stopped by Car Toys to see what solutions were available. The store manager, Kevin Henderson , greeted us and helped us with options. He spent a great deal of time informing two senior citizens about the latest inovations and options. He was never pushy to have us decide and we left with our new found information to contemplate. The following day we returned and selected a new system which was installed in a reasonable amount of time and looks and sounds great. The entire staff was very friendly and Kevin spent a long time in our car showing us the multitude of functions in the Kenwood unit. We have gone back a couple of times and he has come out to assist us which was very helpful. We usually fill out customer surveys be it positive or negative, but never before in our 34 years of marriage have we both felt the need to sit down and write out a review.
