BIG MISTAKE, now three-ish years into the ordeal. They couldn't make the simple initial Kenwood stereo install function properly, so swapped it out for a Pioneer and a "dash kit". Turns out the kit that was installed was a dual something or other, when it should have been a single. Learned this from an external diagnosis for malfunctioning HVAC control (I would get heat in summer and air in winter). Apparently these dash kits are known to have "issues". The Pioneer sporadically crashes out and reboots itself... or doesn't. CarPlay often fails. The reverse camera (I believe related to dash kit) is still very dark. I could go on. So three-ish years later - and frequent contacts/visits to problem solve without costing me anymore than the $2,000 or so initially put into this nightmare, come to find out that the Pioneer was installed "off the books" and therefore NO WARRANTY. And no records period prior to October 2025 due to not-so-ironic bankruptcy. They have thrown their hands in the air and given me a printout for how to reboot the system myself (which only lasts for so long), and puts the onus on me. I can't speak to the new ownership in Washington, but I strongly advise against taking a costly gamble with Silverdale CarToys. Shout-out to the Salem, Oregon location -- who unfortunately can't do anything with this mess, but have given some valuable insight and advice. read more

I couldn't find my original review but I am pretty upset that they were supposed to exchange my deck because the wrong deck was put in but I didn't know until it was done. I called and was told I would be called in about 7 days when they got the new deck in. It's now going on 3 weeks and I have called twice only to be treated like I am impatient. For as much as I paid for this stereo I expect it to work. At this point, I just want this deck taken out and my money back. I'll go somewhere else for a new deck. read more

1995 Tacoma 121,000 mi. survivor. Oct. 2024 I purchased FOCAL PS-165SF component speakers, Alpine amp and a Kicker hideaway sub. $1,266.00 parts and $875.00 "professional" install. Job complete in 7 hours and store closing. Sounded great, 2 1/2 hr. drive home. I drove 5 hrs round trip 4 days later because FOCAL crossovers were not installed. Tacoma store installed them while installer had an attitude. 3 days later I called Focal Rep. due to speakers sounding blown at 1/2 vol.I contacted Silverdale to do warranty work as they were 2 hrs closer. Made appt. showed up and manager said appt. not written in book. Made appt. and they cancelled day of appt. due to manager gone. drove to another appt. and not written in book again but they would try. returned later and manager said FIXED. Didn't sound great. Next day I pulled door panel and serial # confirmed nothing replaced! They adjusted head unit settings so only higher frequencies played. manager straight lied to my face! FOCAL rep agreed I was entitled a brand new set of speakers as 9 months had passed and all the BS. Rep called Silverdale and I made another appt. in 3 weeks. Installer checked speakers and manager say's "WE DON'T HAVE SPEAKERS HERE". I started losing my mind and raising my voice when he found 1 woofer to replace bad one. part way home I noticed sub not working. I continued home, feeling ill that day. A few days later I suffered a mini-stroke. This week I'm going to MOBILE MUSIC in PORT ANGELES with ALL 5 STAR Reviews to get system dialed in. They make their money in their mistakes....each time up charging when you disagree they turn you loose.... Installed head unit on Saturday. Night illumination not working. Told to bring vehicle back on Monday evening which I did. It was 845 pm. Asked to bring back Tuesday am. Which I did. No one had the time to talk to me about the problem. I was only one in store at the time. I was told to make an appointment to drop off at a later time/date. This is 3 visits and still not resolved. I have spent $5000 there I installed a new stereo in my 04 Duramax I wanted power door locks. nothing they installed in my car works right I told her I wanted Bluetooth audio I cannot talk through my stereo make a phone call the alarm system and the door locks installed you can lock it but it won't unlock the alarm system seems to work but I cannot lock my doors the trim where they installed wires behind it it fell off my microphone fell off the damn window I also have them install a boosting charging device I literally came unplugged. Ok update Leah had everything fixed in about 1.5 hours. Spent $4000. Friendly salesperson but stereo and cameras are lackluster at best. Factory settings no longer work, usb plug in on dashboard and in center console no longer work, the salesperson and technician couldn't adjust brightness level so we have to put a towel on the screen at night etc. We keep having malfunction pop ups and have no idea how to fix them. This is by far the worst experiance I have ever had to deal with as far as my car goes. I spent alot of money on a new stereo system as well as a dash cam only to end up having other factory options on my car not working even after repeated visits. The staff seemed unfirmiliar with the products they were selling, and the installation technicians did not seem to know how to properly install parts. There was poor communication between the sales staff and installation techs in what needed to be done. If you value your car or your sanity stay clear of car toys, and find somewhere else to go your pocket book will thank you. read more

I went in to have a data immobilizer bypass (Blade-Al) installed into my preexisting remote start, since this is what the manufacturer of the remote start system recommended. I was told that the service tech wouldn't do it because they didn't install the remote start. They could, however, uninstall the remote start system and reinstall it but it would require 4 hours of labor at over $100 per hour... what? I had planned on having this Car Toys install a nice audio setup for my vehicle as well (I'm wanting all new speakers, an amp, and 2 subs w/box), but didn't even get as far as asking, since it was clear they didn't want my business. The guy in the showroom that I spoke with was nice, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about this Car Toys location. Note: the Blade-Al simply slides into the existing remote start box and then, according to the website, is programmable within only a few minutes if you have the equipment. read more

Between incorrect installation and iasues after they "fixed it" to price gouging for an uninstall and hearing workers swearing and being jerks from the showroom, we don't plan to ever be back. I had purchased a new Apple car play radio and had it installed the same day. the total price was about $915, they messed up wiring which lead to my car dying constantly and making me get a tow and a brand new alternator, I took my vehicle to my auto body shop where they spent 8 hours going through all my electrical wiring and found it was poor connection with wiring when I had the radio installed. This place only has greedy people who are not looking out for there customers, I promise you will have nothing but regrets coming to this shop. read more

The other reviews are true, pricing completely changes when it is time to open up your pocketbook. I stopped by the store on October 22, 2017 in the afternoon. Was greeted by staff and tell them what I was looking for. Settled on a Apple CarPlay enabled receiver, good price and "free" install. Went out to my vehicle so they could size of the install. Came back inside, they suggested I MIGHT need an additional cable @ $30. However they said since I already had an aftermarket receiver, they seriously doubted I needed the harness. So, price would be $400 plus tax. Couldn't do the install that day so I left. Called on Tuesday October 24, 2017 to get me in that afternoon. I arrived at the store with a set appointment. New staff & installer so we again went to size up the install. Come back in and after the salesperson furiously poked at the computer keyboard, new quote comes up at $570!!! CarToys planned to charge the following additions: -Apparently the receiver price of $399 was AFTER a $50 mail in rebate -Video screen integration was another $30. Mind you, the video screen was already wired so it would cost $30 for them to plug in two RCA cables. -USB integration would be $60. The only place they would wire the USB cable would be to my glove compartment. Honestly? So to integrate it into the dash(drilling and running one cable)would be $60.00. You are all but forced to pay the $60. -Without even opening up the existing aftermarket install, they said I would definitely need the $30 wiring harness. Needless to say I did not move forward with the install. Worst part was I took half a day off work to get the install done. Really disappointing. They hope that you are a schmuck that'll just shrug your shoulders and say "ok". Best Buy quotes a turnkey install for $99 and guess what, they held true to the quote. My advice, don't be a schmuck. Something about Silverdale & car stereo & crooks, & installers If arm twisted and you have to get something installed, check the work often, these guys short cut, I had to pull my alarm from my car, the worst wiring I have ever seen, ps. solder less crimps are bad down the road they fail Here is the issue they use to much wire & zip ties to hold down the work, easier to shorten wire, then bundle Hugh masses of excess wire they route wire under the carpet where you put your feet, constant stepping equals wire breaks & shorts, this alone, lack of common sense, is a deal breaker, expensive equipment & a short circuit don't mix, I'm a fan of solder, & adhesive heat shrink to seal connection, not cheap solder less crimping, I can only explain the next reason with a picture, lack of integrity this the dude must be special needs you have to look, wtf buyer beware read more

i just got off the phone with, what I am guessing is a new guy, for a quote. the website says "Free Installation" for a $650 stereo component. Quotes me $2300, apparenty my car "requires" a $600 dash kit and and the other $1100 is for labor, because only some cars qualify for the free installation. Says he needs a $50 deposit to get the ball rolling then says I need to come in and prepay for the dash kit, I live 2 1/2 hours away for this store, and there is not one closer. I asked to pay over the phone and he said he could not take that much money over the phone! their loss! I should have read the reviews first before wasting my time talking to this guy. I have given these guys a lot of chances and A LOT of money. They have never installed anything in any of my cars correctly the first time. I have had to make multiple visits to fix issues. I recently had a brand new car in for an install and was told the humming from sub was because my car makes its own engine noises.. wrong. It was because they didn't even attach the ground and it was pulling noise from the alternator. I had even brought it back and was told all the wiring was top notch. Laughable at best. They even broke clips on molding and made a small tear in my interior and this car had 296 miles on it when I brought it in. I was so upset and wanted to scream and yell that I decided I was done with CarToys and did not need the stress in my life. So I took it to a car stereo place in Bremerton and they fixed it perfectly for 100$. I was not bringing it back again to listen to someone that doesn't know what they are talking about tell me it can't be fixed. After I just spent $3000+ alone on one of my vehicles. will never go back. I was also informed I was sold stuff I did not even need. They knew they could take advantage of me. Charged me extra to eliminate a sound that was only caused by their own work. Also, other reviews about pricing totally accurate. I was quoted $600 for added dash cams and then it came to just under $1000. Same with stereo. Quoted 500 less. Then was told it was because I needed "special" equipment. Didn't find out I didn't need special equipment until I took it to the other car stereo place. And I didn't tell them cartoys did the install so I could get an honest review of the works. Been back twice already for issues with my install to be resolved. You don't get what was advertised and the fast talk "let me discount that for you" isn't really a discount just the charges listed for something else on the invoice. The staff don't seem to be properly trained to deal with customers and certainly don't have the Knowledge Base to install the equipment without errors or quickly just plugging wiring into the odb censor. Left the store last time thinking maybe things were fixed and now I don't have any cabin chimes(doors, seat belt, low fuel, trailer connected) no sound whatsoever. Buyer Beware: Before you purchase products from this CAR TOYS or any other retail outlet, be sure to look online for sales/promos because this location will not honor sales/promos after you go home and find a better price. This location DID NOT have the car radio in stock for my 2018 Forester, so they required that I pay for it ahead of time, and strangely enough they also charged me for parts and labor before they would order it, and it took two weeks to get the radio, and another week for appointment, so they had my money for three weeks. Can you believe they sent the parts home with me in box mixed with other things I needed to bring back for an installation of a dash cam I bought for my other car, why? I knew the dash cam parts were in the box, why , I ask, did I need to pay for labor and their parts ahead of time??? It is sorta like scheduling an operation and the surgeon sends you home with the surgical instruments, and anesthesia, and gauze?? I am checking with the Attorney General's office to find out if this is legal to make consumers pay for parts and labor before installation. Ok, with that said, they left a $200.00 De Walt drill under my driver's side car seat, and we didn't find it for several weeks, so shipped it back to them at our cost. The manager and the clerks were very helpful, however one of the testosterone poisoned installers was rude. Be fore warned, they will not call you when your car is ready, believe me!!! Also, they really prefer dealing with male customers, not women, so who knows, maybe they had a mean mother, or or were jilted by a girlfriend, or wife, or other, or just hate women. After reading the other reviews, I can say I'm not surprised at the other low ratings for this place. First off, you're lucky if you're greeted when you walk in unless you approach the desk where all the employees are texting away and catch their attention somehow. All six times I've walked into this store ALL of the employees were either talking on their cell phones or texting non stop. Secondly, they're all about talking up add on "insurances" and "parts" to get you to spend extra money with them. Which by the way, don't waste your money on their insurance programs because they'll come come up with excuses why the insurance you paid for doesn't cover the issue you're having with your item. After one year of my touch screen navigation it took a shit. Three weeks later after they sent it in to be fixed I get a phone call that there's "severe water damage" and my car must have a massive leak internally, oh and my insurance that I paid an extra $400 for doesn't cover water damage. Took my car in to be serviced, funny how miraculously I have ZERO internal water damage as they stated. There goes my unit that I paid over $1,000 for, lasted me ONE year. They wanted an additional $450 to "fix" my touch screen, yeah right. Thirdly, their managers don't know a thing about customer service. They gave us the run around for hours, before beginning to curse at my husband. Great customer service there! *eye roll* This place needs to either be shut down, or hire people who know how to work and work professionally. read more

Don't ever get your car detailed here. My mom found a groupon for a car detailing at car toys & gave it to me for Christmas. My car had a leak and began to smell musty and moldy. I got the leak fixed but my car still didn't smell very good. Car toys must've briefly vacuumed the seats off (there were still crumbs in every crack & every seat crease). They shampooed the carpets but left them completely wet. After driving it home and realizing my socks were wet from the floor, I called back and complained and they told me that having the carpet damp after they cleaned it was normal. When I brought it back in because it was saturated, not just damp, they had to redo it because it stunk. Again. I ended up going to the store and buying the moisture absorbing crystals & eventually selling the car. read more

I read the reviews beforehand, but thought it would be my cheapest option so I figured I'd just suffer through it...after all, how bad could it be? It turned out to be the WORST retail experience of my life. Here is my story: I walked in and was ignored by all the sales staff. One was arguing with a customer about pricing and the other 2 were playing on their smartphones. I knew exactly which car stereo I wanted from online research and found it. The funny thing is they marked it up $70 and then advertised it as "$70 off"...such a scam. I finally went and asked one of the associates to get it for me. This guy named Ryan "helped" me and proceeded to mumble through my installation options. He responded to each one of my questions as if I was an idiot and I was inconveniencing him I was so angry after 10 minutes with Ryan that I canceled my order and went over to Best Buy where I received AWESOME service at a LOWER price. took my truck in a while back to get some upgradws and when i get my truck back 2 of my gauges are no longer working. they tell me that it wasnt them as they dont have to touch anything in the cluster for the install. sometime has gone by and i finally have time to get this fixed and they tell me they have to look over the work or someone else has to look it over to see where in the install process it could have happened.i paid them over $700 and now have to pay another 200 just to fix their mistake and thery wont cover the cost of that. read more

I wished to get a remote starter for wife's Christmas present. I was given a quote, the price was acceptable. I needed to check my wife's schedule to arrange for access to her van. I called in and asked the salesperson on the desk what days did they have available for an appointment. It seemed pretty reasonable to me. I was told I would have to pay for the service before they could give me an appointment. I explained I was interested in seeing if their availability would work for me. I really couldn't care about the overpriced sound system they installed. I think for the right price, you get what you pay for. They built a custom box for my trunk so I could still fit loads into my trunk with my back seat down, which was sweet. What was worse, however, is that they either 1.) broke my drivers side seat belt retraction device or 2.) swapped my functioning one for one of their broken ones. I believe it to be 2.) because the new seat belt holder has much more scuff marks, stains, and dirt when it was very clean when I took it to them. I would not trust their installation staff, despite them knowing a lot about sound systems. They charged me almost two times the amount the system cost in just labor. A 1400$ sound system shouldn't be 2600$ of labor for 1 days work. Even more, if I didn't haggle or barter at all, the staff should not have destroyed or vandalized my car. read more

I went to Car Toys with a groupon and was blown away by the quality of work they did on my car. I have a subaru outback that was completely wrecked on the inside from my 2 and 3 year old boys during our cross country move to WA. They got stains out that I thought could never be undone! The also went above and beyond and fixed my satalite radio antenna that was knocked off by a car mechanic and had been dangling ever since. My car was returned to me dry, spotless and smelling great! I've now had 3 people not even recognize my car when they got in and asked me if I bought a new one!! Outstanding service and completely worth the $ I spent for the detailing.
