Had my speakers replaced in my SL550. They tried to up sale me on an amp. Not needed. A piece of trim was broken when I got home. I didn't bother going back to argue over it. My dealership replaced it for free. My QX80 was upgraded to Apple carplay. Love the new feature however I had to go back to have it repaired when the heater switch wasn't connected. I brought my vehicle into Car Toys in Tigard thinking I just needed a replacement backup camera after mine suddenly stopped working. Clayton took the time right away to do a quick check and make sure it wasn't something simple like a blown fuse before having me commit to paying for a deeper diagnostic, which I really appreciated. Later, he discovered a large amount of water pooled under the driver's seat that had likely caused the camera module to fail. I took my car home, pulled off the trim, and carpet to investigate further, hoping to find the water source. This turned out to be a far more serious problem than I expected, and it's something I never would have found on my own without his help. Even though the issue was outside of Car Toys' scope and requires more extensive repairs elsewhere, Clayton and Mike were incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the whole experience. read more

I know I already had a somewhat negative opinion of Car Toys, but there really aren't a lot of shops in this area that do this sort of work, so I stupidly went back for another try. They initially quoted me $800 for the job, but once I approved it, it somehow ballooned to $2200. But what's even worse is that they actually charged me BOTH the $2200 AND the $800, putting the charge over $3,000!! I called them, and they admitted it was a duplicate and promised to refund $800. But they didn't. So I charged it back on my credit card - but then they inexplicably fought the chargeback, and inexplicably won! I went back and talked to them again, and they promised once again to issue a refund. It was another long wait, but finally they did issue the refund - so I was back to paying $2200 for an $800 job instead of $3000. This place is a scam, and I almost filed a small claims suit against them. Even if this is the only convenient location for you, don't fall for it like I did. Drive somewhere else to get the work done, no matter how inconvenient it is. read more

I started my search for a replacement CD player/receiver on the Car Toys website, chatting/texting with either a human being or a very good AI assistant, who steered me in the right direction for my antique '99 Mazda. Came by the next day at the appointed time, and a couple hours later, I had my new audio stuff. The price ~$330 installed was reasonable to me. The manager and the installer were both courteous and effective (and both refused to accept a small tip). Waiting room could use a vacuuming, but that's immaterial. I actually hate this place. Haven't gone here in 5 plus years after a horrible experience in 2020. Can confirm, they don't change. Maybe some DEI training so that everytime you answer the phone you aren't sexist or rude! Why is it if I send a male to do the job I need done, no issues. But when I call or go in, I'm talked down to, treated as though I don't know my own car and have been pushed off. Don't tell me to bring my car in at open and then not touch it by 12 when I call and ask what's up. I say don't touch it I'll just come get it then 10 min later as I'm almost to the shop my car is suddenly fixed? I've left multiple messages and never once heard back, or even a courtesy email from corporate saying "hey sorry". Number one in the nation my ass!!! Only come here if you absolutely have to. And if you're a woman, be extra careful because they will profile you and treat you as though you are dumb. They wouldn't honor my warranty to the point where I had to go to a completely different city for a different car toys to honor my warranty. Did I mention the warranty expired the next day, and they said "sorry can't help you there's nothing wrong." And pushed me away!! The second I left the shop my car started acting up just as I stated, but don't believe me what would I know I'm just a dumb woman. I bought a Kenwood stereo for my car and an extended warranty. the Kenwood stereo failed and Car Toys said the radio went bad and needed to be replaced. that was in August. Now they tell me because of Chapter 11 they are not going to honor the warranty. the warranty company told me they had sent Car Toys the money for the stereo and CR Toys kept the money and won't give me the radio. I purchased a spare tire carrier from Rigid for my Subaru. The new carrier obstructed my stock camera and I had to mount the license plate on the carrier so it essentially was not lit up and did not have a license plate holder. You cannot drive without a license plate light at night or you will get a ticket. In comes car toys. The sales associate presented an Alpine license plate holder with wide angle Alpine camera and two built in led lights. The technician Erik took on the challenge and did a fantastic job. I love the set up. My stock camera is still there he just created a new plug and patched in the stock lcd screen. Thanks Car Toys. read more

Whelp, I should have done my homework and read all of the reviews before I went to this place. A week ago Sunday my friend and I were running around town doing errands when she suggested we pop in to the Tigard Car Toys and take a look. I was excited about the possibility of upgrading the stock stereo system in my 2019 Mazda CX-5. So, I go in and talk to a salesman named Dylan. I go into the sound room and pick out a pair of Infinity speakers and an Alpine amp, which he tells me will be compatible (he confirms this with one of the installers right in front of me). We set up a time for the installation (the following Wednesday morning) and I go along my merry way. Wednesday morning arrives, I drop off my car, my friend picks me up, and we head back to her house. On the way I get a call from the manager, Tony. He tells me that the speakers and amp are actually NOT compatible and they're going to have to put me into a different amp (I confirm this because I ask him, "Will it still be an Alpine?" and he says "Yes.") When I pick up my car it turns out that they had installed a set of Alpine SPEAKERS instead of the Infinities I had wanted. I had listened to those same speakers on Sunday, wasn't impressed, which is why I chose the Infinities. I demo the system, and though I'm really not happy with the sound, I don't like conflict and didn't want to argue with Tony, so I leave with a pair of speakers I'm not happy with. After a day or so I decide that I'm going to have buyer's remorse for the rest of my life if I keep them, so I give him a call and tell him that I'm not satisfied with the sound of the Alpine's, so they need to replace them with the Infinities and put me into a different amp that will be compatible. He tells me, "Bring your car back and we'll install the Infinities," which makes no sense since they whole reason they'd installed the Alpines is because of compatibility issue. At this point I'm frustrated and decide to visit the Clackamas store. There, a salesman hears me out and sells me an amp that WILL be compatible with the Infinities, which is actually $50 cheaper than the one that Tigard had sold me. He also sells me the Infinities, but explains that the only available pair are at the Beaverton store--they've been discontinued and are out of stock everywhere else. NOW things start making sense. The next day I call Tony at Tigard back and tell him that not only did I have the speakers I wanted, but I'd also bought a compatible amp that I also want swapped out since they failed to put me into one in the first place. He then tries to tell me that Dylan had told me that he'd recommended that amp to me in the first place, but I'd insisted on the incompatible amp, which is a complete steaming load of BS. Why would I have done that, especially since the correct amp was $50 cheaper??? Then he tells me that on TOP of the installation I'd already paid for, which was $600, I was going to have to pay them another $350 in fees to remove the wrong speakers and install the new amp--all of which was their fault. Now, what was once a $1,000 deal has turned into nearly $1,400 (I'd also had to purchase two wiring kits for the new amp). When, given the fact that everything was their fault I protest, I'm basically told "tough $hit." I start calling around to other stores, asking them how much they'd charge to do the job. Each one of them quotes me a price that is half of what the Tony wanted to charge me. The next morning I head down to the Beaverton store to pick up my new speakers and speak to the store manager, Francisco. It turns out he's also the acting RM while the RM is on vacation. I explain everything to him and find out that the only reason they had the Infinities is because a customer had recently returned a set. So, it seems that what happened is that the Tigard store had never had the Infinities in the first place, which is why they installed the Alpine's. At any rate, Francisco made everything right. Not only did the Beaverton store remove the old system and install the new one at no additional charge, he refunded me the difference on the new equipment (it turns out the Infinities were on sale on the Car Toys website), so the cost went back to the original $1,000 I was quoted in the first place. The installers did an awesome job, and I drove home happy last night. The bottom line is avoid this store like the plague and take your business to the Beaverton store. As most of the other reviewers have explained, the Tigard store is run by a totally unscrupulous manager who will hose you if you give him the chance. read more

on the 5th of December a tech cracked my windshield. When I picked up the car they handed my keys to me and didn't say anything, I saw it as soon as I got to the vehicle, and went back in and explained. Rene who was in the front said he'll speak with his Tech. Long story short the tech admitted to cracking the windshield and I have a dash cam video that shows the tech working on the specific area where the crack resulted in. I've been waiting for an email as Rene from Car Toys Tigard said I'll get and still have no response. I've been calling the store and it seems to me that my calls gets forwarded to a different voicemail. I understand mistakes happen but it's shady for them to let me drive off without letting me know and the fact that the technician didn't bother informing Rene of what resulted. The Manager is very unprofessional, when I asked him why I was still charged for a service I was told was going to be free installation for the purchase of the camera. He didn't want to help me take it off my bill. "The representative that helped you is not here but when she's here go ahead and take it up with her." He said. He could not take responsibility of his own team being the manager. He only cares about his own pride and ego than the actual brand of Cartoys. People like this are tearing down the company that was once renowned and prestigious to a sketchy back ally body shop. There was more issues that I honestly don't have time to write in but.. TL;DR They damaged my car and refused to acknowledge or fix it. I brought my car here to get the windows tinted. The installer said it would take a few hours and they would call me when it was finished. Approximately 45 minutes later I get a call saying that there is an issue with the machine that cuts the tint so I'll need to come get my car and reschedule my appointment. No big deal, we go back to get the car. When we arrive I reschedule then go to get my car... when I get to my car three of the door lock knobs were snapped off, the inside trim on two windows were ruined and two door panels were broken (all of which could have been avoided if the 'professional installer' unscrewed the knobs and panels instead of literally trying to yank them off) It is baffling that after damaging one door, he continued to do the same with two more before stopping and saying the tint machine was having issues. Because of the damage to one of the doors, it was unable to open. I go inside to ask what happened, they had the audacity to tell me it was that way when I dropped it off. I have pictures from the week before where my car was in a show and had zero damage, but they didn't care to look at them. I look down and see two of the broken lock knobs on the shop floor, I point them out and was told that it was probably from something else. Since the tint wasn't done and they damaged my car, I asked for a refund. I was told I would need to talk to a manager (who was on vacation until the following week) Finally after about a half hour of back and forth they refunded me and said they would have the manager contact me to talk about the damages. Nobody called and when I contacted them, the manager was always out or I was told he would call me back. That never happened, months later I still haven't heard from anyone. I wouldn't recommend this place if it was the last tint option on the west coast! read more

These guys tried to take advantage of my 16 year old telling him it would be $600 for a pair of low-tier front speakers with installation. $175/hour labor and wouldn't give him an estimate on how long it would take to install and was told he would have to pay for however long it took. Magically once I went in there and challenged them on that, they were able to have someone give us a firm quote on installation and lower the 15% 'shop fee' they wanted to charge on top of the install. Overall, it felt like they were trying to rip him off at every turn until an adult came in to call them out on it. read more

Horrible. I came in for a broken stereo and they printed out a sheet from a company called nifty city and told me to buy this stereo and bring it in and they will install it for $300. I spent $1000 on a stereo, brought it in and a different person told me sorry we can't install that in your car. There's a $200 restocking fee for returning the stereo. Yeah it says fusion... he said that didn't matter. Anyway the deal was buy the deck at this price get free installation. Sean said it would take 2-3 hours. Deck cost with free install was around $300.00. Said they take away the install from the price of the deck on the invoice. What ever that means. With the dash kit and electronics and Labor at $85.00 (which is to low) i figured $500.00 - $600.00. Came back $1127.91. Then i looked at the invoice. Unless it takes 4 guys 3hours to install i think their was something wrong. I priced out a better deck at 3 other local audio guys and they were all with in $50.00 of each other at $580.00. Brought my brand new car in for a window tint. They ended up keeping the car overnight then after the tint healed it had bubbles everywhere. They had to redo it and after it healed again same issue. I asked them to refund my money and I'll go elsewhere. Shop manager is a joke and told me my car wasn't that bad which is not true. Also they told me to not come back here ever because I wouldn't sign a waiver that the defroster could get damaged. They lost a sale on a $7,500 stereo setup. I'll be going to Musicar instead. I made an appointment for an external detail and showed up at 9:00 as they suggested. There were a number of people in line so I left my key and told them I would call them (my ride couldn't wait). I called at 9;15 and they said it was all good and I asked how long it would take and they said the detailer would call me. I called back at 11:30 and they apologized for not calling me but told me they would need the car until 8. When I told them that was not the plan and I had to have my car they just said "sorry", that's the only option we have. When I made the appointment they said it would easily be done by early afternoon. Clearly this shop over books appointments and can't manage their business. These are the guys giving salesmen bad reputations across the board. they sell you a product charge you for labor then dont want to install everything that comes in the kit. they don't tell you this until you have already been charged. I bought a complete viper remote start security system they charged me over 500 dollars then dont install the security portion of the kit. I hook these guys up when they come to my store and don't expect to get treated like this. I'm ashamed and definitely not giving any more of my business to them. read more

I had a wonderful customer service experience with Car Toys. While my car was being repaired, the body shop discovered that one of the wires from my aftermarket back up sensors was missing. These sensors had been installed in another city. Oh, no! I really needed those beepers to keep me from ruining the back of my car. Kat to the rescue! She drove over to the body shop, matched some new sensors to the ones already installed and brought the new sensors to the shop so they could install them. Very satisfied with the careful / clean and professional installation by Eric, a detail-oriented, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly young man that worked on my '94 Buick. All windows were expertly cleaned too by a detailer ... now I can clearly see through them again ('been years since they were this clean). Enhanced sound feels great, just right from the subdued compact subwoofer and an added pair of small, dash speakers to the system [Kenwood head unit and 6x9s in the rear, 6.5s in doors]. That's exactly the upgrade I was after -- not an annoying booming / noisy rattle. Very nice job altogether. Excellent. George & Francisco were also great to work with. I appreciate their considerate communication and taking care of my 27 year old vehicle. Definitely recommended. Two thumbs up! read more

If I could give less than one star I would. One month ago I scheduled to have the interior of my car detailed. It was on the other side of town so I knew that I would need to drive the distance to have the job done. It's exactly 21 miles one way from where I live. There was traffic getting there, I arrived later than my scheduled time and for that I take responsibility. What I do not take responsibility for is a complete lack of understanding that I had driven across town and they wanted me to leave the car while they did the work. I hadn't made arrangements for anyone to pick me up so that couldn't be done. I have arthritis. My plan was that I would wait while the interior detail job was being done. Due to COVID-19 restrictions every chair in the place had been removed. Car Toys Tigard didn't even have a chair that I could sit in while I waited and the best they could guarantee was that the job would be completed at some unknown time before 7pm closing, more than 8 hours from the current time that I was on location. I had chosen the most basic level of service and would have even picked out some additional services to have done, but due to the absolutely abysmal customer service and support I received I will not return. read more

Cool dudes but honestly felt like I was taken advantage of. Came in for radio/amp/sub installation and was charged $780 (I provided all except amp) and later another $365 for a bypass which was already bypassed im pretty sure. At some point they came out to tell me my speakers were blown forcing me to replace the speakers (aka buying new ones from them) so they offer me a said deal but I said no since I can change them myself. Eventually after the installation they said they "got it to work but didn't say anything to anyone so they wouldn't charge me for it" obviously a tactic these salesman use to keep you coming back whenever you have a stereo related issue. So how are you going to tell me my speakers are blown and now all the sudden they work? They were afraid I was gonna find out they weren't actually blown.
