The Drivers DO NOT "happily drive their intrusive monsters into narrow residential streets". First, zoning laws prohibit vehicles over a certain weight limit. Secondly, such "Narrow residential streets are not on the proscribed route. Third, it would make no sense to jeopardize lives or propertyby driving a vehicle through an area such as that. Its also a good way to loose ones job and possibly ones license. As for being unfriendly, if the general public only knew just how much verbal and at times physical abuse we have taken from angry bullying people who confidently screamed at us because they figured we would take it rather than loose our jobs it would surprise most readers. Finally the buses used by Transit system for the use of the Hollywood Bowl shuttle are buses having proven themselves faithful transporters of this City's commutors for many years with little complaints. As for the Management, this Transportation Company was one of the very first privately held transportation companies of its kind in this State to begin implementing Bio Diesel use in its vehicles. Staff cars are Hybrid or all electric cars. Its so easy to criticize when you don't know what you are taking about. I am no longer working for this fine organization but I am proud to ride these Buses when my wife and I patronize the Hollywood Bowl and I can confidently ride with confidence that these drivers are some of the most professional and I might add some of the nicest people I have ever had the privilege of knowing or working with.

NOTE: I don't have a data plan on my phone, so I have no access to wifi when I'm out and about, therefore I don't use Uber or Lyft. I called Independent Taxi Company more than 12 hours ahead to make a reservation to be picked up at 2:30 a.m. to go to LAX. I heard the person groan. (Their hours, listed above on this page, say they're open 24 hours, so I don't understand what the problem is.) They told me someone would call me before they arrived. At 2:30 a.m. I had not received a call, and no one arrived to pick me up, so I called them. They said they were trying to find someone to take me. (Above, it says they have over 400 cabs in their fleet. What's the problem?) Beginning to panic, I hung up and tried to reach a friend at that ungodly hour, but his phone was turned off. I called Independent again, and they asked if I could wait an hour! NO! I have a plane to catch. I didn't have time to call around, so I jumped in my car and drove to The Parking Spot, near the airport, parked my car there, and took their shuttle to the airport. (I used their least expensive option, meaning I parked in uncovered parking on the roof.) When I returned six days later, I owed $179.12. I called Independent, and spoke to Leon. When I told him I would like to be reimbursed for that expense because, not only was I not picked up, but worse, NO ONE EVEN CALLED TO TELL ME THEY WEREN'T COMING, he asked me to email him a copy of my receipt from The Parking Spot, and he agreed to reimburse me. When I told this to my friends, every one of them was shocked and amazed. But wait -- there's more. A check was, indeed, mailed to me. Through the Post Office's Informed Delivery, I could see it was supposed to be delivered on April 25. I could even see a picture of the envelope. The Post Office never delivered that envelope to me. It is now May 11, and I still don't know what happened to it. I waited for over a week, and I even went to the Post Office to inquire about it, but they were clueless. Finally I called the accounting department at Independent, told them what happened, and asked if they could send a replacement check. They did, and I received it today. Leon and Independent provided OUTSTANDING customer service, as a follow-up to their poor service. Everyone thought this was a lost cause, but it wasn't. They did the right thing. I was wondering whether I would trust them when I need a taxi again, and then I realized, yes, I would, because I know if something goes wrong, I can count on them to take responsibility.     Uber wanted to charge me 3x the avg rate from LAX to my hotel, which was 2 miles away from LAX. I…read morechose Independent Taxi because they were fair, they keep a consistent rate regardless of the seasons, and that I truly appreciate. I like these taxi companies because, unlike Uber, they don't illegally price gouge you because some conventions are in town. The driver that drove me had a minivan, and it was very clean, and he was very friendly and an excellent driver. Would recommend, especially since Uber illegally price gouges its clients during busy seasons.

    Beware of this car service and highly recommend choosing among the many other options available. I…read morebooked with this car service online as was recommended by my company's office manager for a sales event our company had in Universal City. I travel 3-4x a month so when it comes to filing expenses I often pull the receipts from my email. I booked with this car service round trip LAX to Universal city and Universal city to LAX. This car service charged me $96 cancellation fee for cancellation of a the pickup (Universal city to LAX). Not only did they never send any receipts of the original pick-up (LAX to Universal City) of $108, but they never informed me of any cancellation fee when I cancelled the pick-up due to an extension of my conference. I spoke with them on the phone when I cancelled and no cancellation fee or anything of the kind was mentioned, nor was anything online when I booked. I have the two credit card charges on my Visa statement (which is the only thing that brought this to my attention) since I never received any receipt or email of any kind regarding the $96 fee they just whimsically put on my card. When I called today to speak to the office manager, they agreed to refund my card on the phone. Then followed up with an email to say they could not refund my card as the transaction was over 180 days ago. The company I work for has a contract with this service which I am recommending they cancel given this experience. I travel often on business so this kind of business ethics of charging astronomical cancellation fees (without warning or agreed to terms) and not sending receipts for transactions is extremely unethical and who has the time to do business with shady enterprises like this where you need to validate they aren't charging one's card without notice. Save yourself the aggravation and book with another service.
