UPDATE: they INSTALLED THE WRONG TIRES I went to CarX in Fairview Heights, IL. I live on the West Coast and wanted some good, safe tires to drive back home. They sold me tires that were underrated for my van. I have a class E and needed a bigger tire. The shop I took it to for something unrelated conveyed that it was a miracle I didnt blow the tires on my drive out here. Their solution? Bring it back. I live 27 hours away. Ridiculous. Wasted on $537 on tires that could've killed me. The manager stated he only installs what the customer wants... I wanted safe recommended tires that were meant for the van that I own! Their negligence to do their job and install SAFE tires is a reason to stay far away from this company! read more

I drop my 2007 Pontiac G6 GT @Car X Tuesday night January 30, 2024. I took it in to get a four wheel alignment. The next morning around 8:30 AM, the attendant called me and told me that he's getting ready to take my car in to do the wheel alignment. He did not call me again until about 2:30 PM. to inform me that he could not do the wheel alignment due to a bad CV axle, a bad left control arm, due to a bad, trailing arm, due to a bad rack and pinion, he told me that I would need all these things plus front brakes, back brakes, and all new rotors. I told him that I just had back brakes put on it the day before. Then he began stuttering, and said "oh" . So he lied about me needing back brakes. I asked him if he got my car in at 8:30 AM. Why did it take him until 230 to call me to tell me that he could not do the alignment. I told him that my car was running fine, and I had not noticed any of those things, and that I would just come and pick up my car. When I picked up my car, my car was still up in the air with all of the wheels off. I told him that I was coming to get my car, so I asked him why don't you have it put back together if you knew you could not do this wheel alignment and I told you that I was coming to get it. There was a lot of clanging coming from my suspension. I noticed that one of my hub/wheel bearings was humming which it was not when I took the car in. It was not making any of these noises. I called the Car X and asked the guys what did they do to my car. I seriously honestly believe that these people sabotage my car so I could pay the almost $6000 they said it would take to fix it. That is an outrageous price if I was gonna get it fixed there. Everything that he named I can get done for under $700 but there was nothing wrong with my car! My belief is that these guys are crooked! Please steer clear of them. Zero stars. read more

Don't waste your time here! Most inconvenient experience ever. Went in for a minor break fix. They convinced me to pay for a list of unrelated parts that weren't needed. Ultimately kept my car longer than expected then I had to bring my car back for corrections. Expanded a three day problem into a month inconvenience. read more

The average price in the area is between 80-90 per labor hour and I was charged 105 an hour to fix a window regulator on a Honda. It was my first time using my warranty I had on the car but the warranty company said the hour rate was $20-30 more than average so that had to come out of my pocket. Unless my car can fly after this fix, I don't see why it's $30 over priced per hour. UPDATE: I ONLY WENT TO THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE CLOSE TO MY HOUSE AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE DONE BY CLOSE OF BUSINESS YESTERDAY AND THEY STILL HAVENT STARTED FIXING IT. PAYING MORE MONEY, WAITING LONGER. UPDATE: Final bill $430 to replace a window motor and it took 24 hours read more

Took my car to Car X because my check engine light went on, with a P0171 lean code, they said they checked it and it needed a new vapor canister. I had it repaired by them for over 300$. I drove about 20 feet and the check engine light came on again, so I brought it right back. They checked the fuel pressure and they told me that the fuel pump is working incorrectly and it needed to be replaced . In order to do that they would have to drop the gas tank and replace it, but they also said it would be just the beginning because my car had some rust underneath and they said they probably would have to replace bolts and gas tank cover and so on. Just to replace the fuel pump they came up with 1070$ to replace it. So I took my car to another shop to get a second opinion. They checked my fuel pump out and they said my fuel pump is working great and has a good pressure of 50psi. They also found the problem with the lean code. One of my hoses had a little leak and they replaced it for 35$. So all the work that had been done at car x was a rip off. They rip you off and tell you all kinds of stories what is wrong with your car when it's actually not. Get a second opinion before you waste all your money there. And honestly they didn't do a good job either. read more

I got a flat tire and called a day ahead. They said they would have the tires around 11:30am and 12:00pm. We showed up to the this location around 12pm and got my car checked in. The tires didn't show up til 4:45 pm. I understand with these circumstances a delay but not to inform me on anything just really upset me. A lot of people told me about this place and how good they were but then this happened today!!! Not super impressed. read more

I gave this location a 3 star because I have used them for years and have always had a positive experience with them. Anyone that visit this carx location knows that they change store manager often. Overall I have had a good experience and excellent customer service there. There present manager Heidi, not a good experience and horrible customer service skill. I have had a problem that progressively got worst. The previous manager politely told me to bring it back if it gets worse. I would take it to carx and the problem would disappear while there. It started to occur often and I felt it would be a good time to take it in. I do have a family member who works on car and took a look at it. I prefer my work to come with a warranty so I took my care to carx. Of course I was give a list of problem but focused on the crack and pop I heard when I turned my wheel. My family member said it was more then likely the ball joints . I informed the manager . something else was commended to be fixed to stop the popping . I drove off and continued to hear the crack. I called the manager back and she said " I told you, you needed the other things fixed". I believe "Ms Johnson bring the car back so we can take a look at it" would have been more appropriate. I then went back to get information to file a complaint, this is when she was concerned about my problems. I did contact her boss and I will be taking it back and will have them look at the ball joints again. read more

BEWARE of this repair shop. They charge 3-4 times the price for parts. VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIRS!!! $700 muffler and $500 rear shocks.

went in today to get an a/c compressor replaced on my car. the repair went fine but i noticed where i was charged for $35 in shop fees, which for those that don't know, is for rags, soap, etc (which they maintain as a cost of doing business). after refusing to remove it, i informed them i had a $20 off 100 any service which they also refused to honor as i brought in my own a/c compressor. they seemed pretty offended that i brought my own part as i assumed they would pull these tricks. while there, they also wanted another lady to pay 200 to top off her freon, and also replaced a clutch cable for another lady whose clutch gave out within 20 minutes of leaving the store. We all hear these types of stories. unlucky, i got to witness 3 in 2 hours. do not use them and if you hear "we recommend......" please run. read more
