Al Pastor taco on flour tortilla
Nancy S.

This taco shop is located in a little strip center at Greenway and 19th Ave. but boy is it worth the trip! The food was phenomenal. I had the Al Pastor taco on a flour tortilla and it was so delicious! I would recommend the food here without reservation. The ambience is fine. It's clean and there are many tables and it wasn't too busy when I went in. Service was great. You go to the counter and order what you want and then they deliver it to your table. It was fast service. If you're in this neighborhood, stop in and give this wonderful little place a try!

First time here and definitely won't be the last. Food is absolutely outstanding, cozy& happy environment. Large menu and lovely staff

Great place--the food is amazing! We've not had anything that wasn't delicious. The chicken is perfectly cooked, great beans...everything our group tried was amazing. Would recommend and will be back! On top of excellent food, the staff seemed genuinely happy to serve us. Sometimes that's not easy to find...

Margarita was tasty until we got a mouthful of salt that was the bottom of the glass not from the salted rim.
Meridith H.

We went back and ordered a margarita. We told the gal at the counter about the salt on the bottom of the margarita and were informed they add salt to the bottom of the glass on purpose. So beware of this and make sure to request NO SALT in the glass. I've never seen this done before, salt on the rim, Yes, a tablespoon of salt dumped IN the glass No. Getting a big gulp of salt is not only unpleasant but it made us sick. The food is good, service is good as are the margaritas WITHOUT a pile of salt on the bottom. Why they do this is beyond me. All our food was again not delivered to our table at once.

A great taco shop. Open space, clean environment, and excellent customer service. I was so hungry when I made it here and the tacos I ordered hit the spot. Made to order and very enjoyable tacos. The salsa bar was clean and had plenty of salsa's and topping to choose from. I live in south Phoenix but whenever I am over in this area I will be stopping here for some of the yummy tacos.

Kinda disappointed with the carne asada fries. Just fries with nacho cheese and some carne asada , no guacamole no sour cream, it was also small but it was $12.

Nopales with Pastor

I've read reviews and have been searching for good tacos in North Phoenix and this is a good spot! The service is very friendly. The food came out hot and fast. The beans could use a little moisture but the rice had a good taste. The star was the Nopales with the pastor. If you're doing the Keto diet, this will be the go-to here. It's delicious and filling. Overall, this place is now on my rotation for taco nights.

Carbon & Salt. Came in with high expectations considering a 4.7 rating. It was ok. Part of the problem is (can't believe I'm saying this), they over do the cheese and everything lacks salt. The queso Birria tacos were like, 60% cheese and 40% meat. Overwhelmed the meat. No salt. Cageza we pretty good but lacked salt. Asada was a little dry and lacking salt. Consumme' the same problem. Calitaco is much better all around. I gave it a try but, nothing that special.

Al Pastor Taco, Asada Taco, Quesabirria Sincronizada

Food was so good and can confirm the salsa bar is amazing. Did an online pick up order and was ready in ~15 min at 7pm on a Monday. Got there and it was pretty empty - no idea why! Plenty of seating. If you're familiar with the old Chino Bandido that used to be at this location, it's in their side room. Anyway, the food! I got the quesabirria (which is under the "quesadilla" section of the online menu but is indeed a taco and comes with consome), asada, and al pastor. Great serving sizes! Topped with salsa verde, pico, pickled red onion, and lime. 11/10 would recommend!

Walking in the door

Walking in the place is clean and looks great. People working were just working not smiling not greeting us. We ordered, being first time we stared a while at the menu. No suggestions or help offered. I had read about the asada fries on yelp so we ordered those . They were the highlight of the meal at $11.75 .We shared them. We added onion, cilantro, sauces from the salsa bar. The salsa bar was great sauces. cucumber carrots fresh and clean. I had a asada street taco size for 3.75 is a little pricey, it came with meat. I added on things from the salsa bar. My husband had a asada Syncronizada at $6.15. It's 2 tortillas taco size with asada meat & cheese. He said it was good, tasty but he would need 2 if he ordered again. To be fair we were looking for a Taco Tuesday place. Our big family meets every other week to have a meal. Some of my grown kids have 5 in their family. This place would cost too much . The kids eat 3-4 tacos that's $15 for a kid/ teen. Too pricey this is priced like a full serve restaurant. Food was great and tasty 3 stars because of cost and employees that make you feel like you're impositioning them. Would we go back... sure but just for fries. We don't usually eat fries so probably not. lol I'm not understanding how these small places that don't have sit down service are charging prices like they do. I did try and use the bathroom it was decorated nice everything was clean but the toilet seat had urine all over it so I passed. I normally would have told the employees the bathroom needs checked but they weren't friendly. A greeting and smile goes a long way!

Every time I come here it gets more packed, which is both annoying and completely understandable because the food is ridiculously good. The tacos are fantastic, the fries are life-changing, and the hongos fries specifically deserve their own national holiday. This place made the Top 100 food spots in America list, and honestly? Deserved. It's the best taco spot in the country in my opinion and makes places like Torchy's feel like they're competing in junior varsity. The vibe is also way above average for a taco joint; lively, clean, and full of people who look like they just took their first bite and immediately started planning their next visit. The taco crew is always friendly too, even while dealing with lines longer than a DMV on a Monday. If you don't know what to order, here's the move: Get one taco or an especial if you're a cheese enthusiast, a medium fry with your topping of choice, and guac with chips. That's the kind of meal that makes you sit in your car afterward thinking about your life choices in a positive way. Enjoy. And maybe stretch beforehand because you're going to want to fight someone over the last hongos fry.

They make my tacos just how I ask every time I come, and I make changes! Most recently was last night after a rough rental car situation (avoid NU check those reviews eek) and the bartender was awesome. Quick service, friendly and took my order perfectly. Strawberry lemonade is my absolute favorite and if you know me I'm a lemonade girl. Tacos are perfect, the meat has virtually no weird fat on them like most tacos do. Both carne and chicken. Delicious. I'm here for five days this trip and I'm going back for sure, may end up at the Tempe location too. I should mention the great atmosphere and getting I got, a "welcome in" from the ladies behind the counter as well as the bartender I wish I got his name. Thank you for making my night :)

Since this establishment offered various types of tacos, we tried a bit of different kinds and overall enjoyed the differences in taste and texture. Specifically, I thought the sonoran taco was very innovative as it involved two kinds of salsa to provide a color juxtaposition, which also offered the carne asada different experiences in flavor. I also enjoyed the costra taco which was made with caramelized cheese over it, offering a pleasant fried flavor on the tortilla itself. The barbacoa taco was very juicy since the beef was very well-made. In contrast, the carne asada taco was a bit dry for some reason, and relied on the avocado salsa for both taste and juiciness. The fish taco didn't have enough fish, and had a lot of batter around the fish along with excessive pickled onion pieces. Since this spot is located in a very nice area, the arts district, I would recommend it to anyone that's around the area. It'd be a nice lunch after visiting the Phoenix Art Museum, which is only a mile away from here!

This location is a standalone with a decent patio. Parking is minimal but seemed like there were enough people coming and going. I got a spot right away. It was very busy and after ordering, I was standing with others waiting for my food when the other cashier called me up to check on me, thinking I hadn't figured out the process. He was very nice! The place was packed people finished quickly so getting a table wasn't hard. They also had someone cleaning up tables quickly. I got a carne asada caramelito and a carne asada taco. The caramelito continues to be my favorite of the two. Love the roasted salsa on the salsa bar though the hot red one is really good too! I do wish their guac salsa had more tang and salt. I find it bland. These are among my fave tacos but not my absolute so thus the 4 stars.

Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.
