I have changed my rating due to this below: Updated 6/9/2019: I wanted to delete this post completely but realized, it was due to this post which gave me the opportunity to have a very open, genuine conversation with the owner of Carbon. The phone call was not one to submit nor cower to a customer's complaint (which I admire and was not seeking any compensation). He actually recognized and took time to discuss the underlying issue for this review. Due to this conversation, which has re-instilled my confidence to company/client care, I will rescind my comment about never returning again, and to thank him for listening and considering options. I have found, 90% any issue is, communication - it is either loss or gain. Failure to communicate is loss - with communication is a gain of something... and the last 10% is... you just can't fix stupid ORIGINAL REVIEW: The stylists I've had contact with are great - Sam is wonderful and I will miss her being my stylist. The company business model, how they treat clients - I will NEVER return. First, they try requiring you leave your credit card number with them, and I understand their reasoning...but in today's society with identity theft, credit card (number) theft, high turnover rate and increased opportunity for identity theft... I refuse to leave my credit card (and personal information) with any company other than ones I trust. I am a responsible person willing to give notice to change and believe a company should give this opportunity out to their clients until proven otherwise.... This credit card requirement is NOT my complaint - it is how they handled my appointment change/request. Unfortunately I do not have a plush 9-5 job nor a stay at home and do my own thing, life. My business changes daily and especially when scheduling 4-8 weeks out (and I live an hour away) so life happens... I had an unexpected request from a large client of mine having a very short deadline and needed to request a change in my (very needed) appointment. I called around 2:15pm and my appointment was the next day at 12:45pm (1.5 hr difference). Their cancellation policy is 24hour notice (without penalty). I tried calling earlier and could not get through due to busy signal or rang and then I had a meeting, so this was the earliest I got in touch. When I made contact with (whomever answered) Carbon, I was handled with "well, since you don't have a credit card on file...and I see you have (in past) changed your schedule...You will need to be on the same day schedule" .... Here is the kicker - not in her "notes" that the stylist has twice in past, called me to change the appointment. The last time of rescheduling was to delay my appoint by 10-15 minutes.... 4 TIMES!!! So, my appointment was then 45 minutes AFTER the scheduled time... I accepted her requests without any issue. Again, I understand the reasoning behind keeping a credit card for the isolated incidents of clients not showing up for a valuable spot to both the stylist and company, but for those clients who are trying to be responsible you have now not only lost (approximately) $800-1000/year from 1 person, it has not cost you referrals and bad reviews for future. read more

Christina is the absolute BEST. I started getting my haircuts from her two years ago, and believe me when I tell you that my hair has never felt thicker, longer, or healthier. Having thin hair, I always thought that getting layers was the way to go to make it look thicker - but she told me this was completely wrong. Thank god I listened to her because two years later and my hair feels incredible. I got a cool, ashy balayage from her over the summer and it was my favorite blonde that has ever been done on my hair. When I went in last night I decided I wanted to tone down the blonde a bit for winter, but didn't fully know how to explain what color I wanted. I trusted her eye, and she delivered EXACTLY what I was looking for - a very subtle, natural, light caramel-hued blonde for the winter. The salon in general is a great atmosphere: airy, beautiful without being overly-hip, and they sell R+Co products which I absolutely LOVE. It's on the high end in terms of cost, but you get what you pay for and more (a studio of comparable quality in Boulder would be way more expensive - it's worth the drive to Longmont). Bottom line? Carbon Salon is a gem! Every time I visit, my experience is nothing short of amazing - everything from the location, to the décor, to the employees. Lauren Voss is my go to stylist. She is sweet and genuine and really knows her stuff/always has the best product recommendations! Recently, Lauren put toner in my hair and gave me a perfect sun kissed look. I always feel comfortable in Lauren's chair because I know I will walk away with soft, shiny, natural looking hair and a smile. I really can't say enough wonderful things about this place and Lauren. I moved here a year and a half ago from Las Vegas and was really worried about finding a new hairdresser. YOU know how it is....you get used to someone and they know what you like. You build up a level of trust with your hair stylist. All that changed when I went to Carbon Salon and saw Lauren. She is wicked talented and does an amazing job. I have fine, thin hair and I always feel amazing after she is finished. The color is always beautiful. I appreciate the fact she is never pushy with products. I've been to salons where that's all they do, like a car salesman. She makes suggestions if I ask, but never tries to get me to buy something I don;t need or want. Thanks, Lauren! read more

I am way late in writing this review, but Carbon Salon has been excellent BOTH times I used this salon. Each time I was scheduled promptly, and they even got me in today after calling this morning for a much needed haircut. Kira cut my hair last, and when I scheduled this morning I had requested her. Understandably, she was unavailable but my stylist today, Christina, was awesome as well! She even waved my hair at no extra charge after the excellent and thorough haircut she gave me. This was my first appointment at Carbon with Whitley. She was so knowledgeable! Not only did she do an incredible job baylayage on my short hair but she educated me on my hair texture and what kinds of products work best for it. I am in the process of growing out a pixie and she was just wonderful! And my hair color looks amazing! This place is legit! Very uplifting and inviting atmosphere with a friendly front desk and staff. I scheduled and haircut with Sam and she exceeded my expectations by listening to what i liked and didn't like about my current style and what she thought would work best for me. I also appreciated her filling me in on product to use for my hair type. I have long thick hair and she was able to shape and texturize it beautifully. First time that I've shown a picture of what I wanted and received exactly that! I can not express enough how happy I was with the color. Liz was my stylist and she listened to what I wanted, took her time and even toned a second time in an area she wasn't 100% happy with. Heather gave me a great cut and style. The salon is clean and Heather took extra care to make sure her area was spotless and sanitized. She took the time to talk me through what I wanted and to check in frequently to make sure she was spot on. That's important with long straight hair. It's easy for a stylist to go too far. Tabitha is hands down one of the best stylists I have been too. I sent her pictures of what I wanted my hair to look like (I am dark brunette) and I was striving for blonde.
