Thanks to a friend for the referral to La Deliziosa in the Little Italy section of Poughkeepsie…read more Back in the day, this area was busy and now it's not. We did sit outside after 5 and it got busy as folks drove in and walked up after work. So, for us..I told hubby he didn't need to buy anything because he already had sweets in the hotel room. However once he had a look at the cases, he just had to buy something! His favorite is the lobster tail and cannoli and I had to get the black and white cookie. We sat outside and since I had to be on a call, hubby went in for a strawberry ice. No chocolate until the weekend . A couple of bites of the black and white cookie for me right away. It's not overly make my teeth rattle sweet and the crumb is very much like a cake. I ate the rest after dinner and it quickly had hardened. Hubby LOVED the lobster tail. 5 out of 5. Hubby took a taste of the cannoli and gave it a thumbs up. He enjoyed the water ice more than Ralph's because it wasn't as icy. Local businesses are so important to the local community and it seems that La Deliziosa is holding its own. Regardless let's keep them going!

We're taking a break from homeschooling for the holidays but I want to make sure that she does plenty of activities in her free time. Purchasing her spot for the class was easy and can be done on the business website. The classes are normally held on Sundays but this one in particular, was on a Friday, since the kids are out of school. Upon arrival, I scored parking right in front. There is plenty of street parking as they are located on a pretty busy shopping area street. The owner, Jenay, greeted us upon arrival. She directed us to hang up our coats and get comfy. They have a huge shared space. This is a woman-owned business and Jenay is currently using her space for various classes as she prepares to open her café next month. She also offers baked good via her online bakery, making items that can be picked up at this location. She has some interesting events coming up, including both Encanto and Black Panther cake classes for the kiddos, as well as a Cake and Sip Queen Bey class for adults. Once everyone arrived for the class, she provided each child with an apron. The kids will get personalized aprons with their names on them, along with baker's hats. She had a small issue with her custom order and will send us all our swag directly, but did have back-up aprons that worked well. After donning their aprons, the kids washed their hands and then we all headed to the kitchen. Some pastry dough needs to be prepared and chilled for some time before handling, but Jenay had pre-made dough all ready for the kids. She did prepare one batch of dough in real-time, with the help of every child, to show them how to follow a recipe and read the ingredients. I liked that she took the time to give each kid some one on one attention. My kid was the only girl, super reserved, and the boys were very active, but Jenay made sure she got involved and was able to enjoy the experience as well. She did a very good job bringing my kiddo out of her shell. After mixing some dough we all went to our stations to roll out the dough. Jenay demonstrated first and then the kids followed suit, with the help of the adults. We cut out the gingerbread house pieces and put them on our trays, placing them in the oven. During the break while we waited for them to bake, the kids were given cookies, brownies and cocoa. The parents were offered beverages as well, which I thought was nice. We listened to Christmas music and watched Christmas shows on a projector. It's a very cute setup. When the house pieces were all ready and cooled, Jenay helped the kids construct the houses and then we set off to our individual stations to decorate. We had all kinds of candy, along with icing already prepared in a piping bag. The kids were able to be heavily involved in decorating their houses, eating the candy and socializing. When we were all done, Jenay helped us to pack up our houses for transport. This is a great event to take the kiddies to or to even attend yourself. I look forward to visiting the café once it opens. She will offer coffee, teas, pastries and sandwiches. Jenay also mentioned that she would be bringing a NYC style brunch set-up to the space on Sundays with music and a bartender, so definitely keep a lookout for that.

I finally had an actual NY cheesecake from NY last night and I feel like I just found out Santa Claus isn't real bc they were nothing like the cheesecake at Enchanted Cakes. 1st and foremost.. Service. We're visiting family from out of town and came down for dinner and my father in law decided to surprise us with desert from here. They were closing and stayed open just to take care of us. Also the service couldn't be friendlier. A+ for service. Now on to that cheesecake. The crust was incredible. The cheesecake itself melted in my mouth. The only bad thing is it may have ruined any other cheesecake for me and I live 10 hrs away from NY. I guess I could have him ship it to us lol. 5 stars!

It was exactly what we needed to cap our evening. A large variety of cakes, , cookies and other desserts were on display. Three of us opted for the bourbon cake which was out of this world and our younger set got a brownie and a cookie. Everyone was over the moon about the quality of the desserts and the friendliness of the hostess. She was awesome and even gave my young son a short tour of the kitchen. Major kudos for that! The price was very reasonable too. Check them out!!!

I wanted a funfetti cake and the one they had readily available had lovely sunflowers on it. The woman working was so sweet and put some writing on the cake for me. The 6" cake was about $50 dollars which seemed a bit high, but I think its pretty standard for a bakery. The cake itself was very moist and absolutely delicious and I would give it an A+. The cake I purchased for her birthday from another local bakery last year was really dry, so I was pleasantly surprised by this cake. The buttercream frosting was where I felt the cake fell a bit short. It tasted like pure unsalted butter and had almost no sweetness to it, so we ended up just eating the cake center and leaving the frosting. Unfortunate for an expensive cake but based on the other reviews I'm wondering if it was just a one time error. I don't think I would get another cake from there, but the rest of the baked goods and empanadas looked awesome so I will definitely be bake to try those!
