I ordered a whole cooked chicken at the prepared foods section. The man working behind the counter pulled a very small chicken from underneath. Much smaller than the ones on top. The produce section is well done and with good prices. The checkout lines are always long and slow moving. read more

Stopped by last night to buy some chicken to make today. Open up the bag today and there was a foul stench coming from the chicken, not gonna chance it so i said ill take it back. The bag had the date from yesterday so i thought it shouldnt be a problem since i threw away my receipt as i had no intention on returning the chicken. The first thing i was asked when i took it to the store, do you have your receipt. No i dont, we can only give you credit i was told. Theres only 2 cashiers open and the lines were long. Im not gonna wait around in line to switch out the chicken that was bad that i bought the night before. I told the cashier i dont have time to go get in line at the meat counter to get more chicken then come back and get in the long line. Again he said i cant give you a refund only swap out for new product. I guess this was my fault, one for not checking the chicken for bad smell last night before i paid and two for assuming that if i took back the smelly chicken i bought last night that it would be a fast and easy transaction. I politely asked for my bag of smelly chicken back and tossed it in the garbage can they had right outside the store. Lesson learned, stick to the other grocery stores that practice better hygiene. read more

I have shopped here since I was a kid but recently I've had a cashier not even help me bag my groceries not once but on two separate occasions. it seems that the Cashier Angel feels a little too important to help. I don't know if this has happened to anyone else with this cashier but both times he just stands there and waits or leaves and pretends to do something else. Completely ignoring me. Also before this, he told a coworker something along the lines of "I'm not gonna bag their stuff" What makes things worse no other worker who was there offered to help. I'm not sure if it's the way I look that they refused to help me but it was very childish. I understand that this most recent time they had asked him to help an elderly woman take her groceries to her car. So there is not issue on that front, the issue was the smugness. I don't except a smile but I do expect the same respect I show you. After that another cashier came to cover after Angel left and waited for me to finish bagging rather than help or offer to; which they didn't and had other guests waiting. What happened to the quality of food here? I was purshasing hot food and noticed the rice was almost gone so I asked an employee if I could have some fresh one ( so excited for the fresh one ) but nooooooo not even. Great store, they serve AUTHENIC Mexican food, none of that belly-aching refried-bean mess you find elsewhere. Most Mexican grocery stores I've been to leave you feeling like you just ate your own body weight. This is FRESH, AUTHENTIC, GUILT-FREE MEXICAN FOOD. The Jalepeno cheese bolillos are great! They are delicious! I have to say that I was very impressed how fresh they make their bollios. A lot of other Mexican joints just flat out don't understand the concept, and over stuff them with cheese so you can't taste the flavor. You have to get there early otherwise all the bolillo's will be gone, they are very popular. Anyway my ideal meal from here is a jalepeno cheese bollios with a Jarritos Toronja! Mi Pueblo is now Cardenas. Pretty much all the same inside just a new name. The Taqueria inside is ok. They don't have any fried foods like tacos or flautas and no fountain drinks. They only serve white pinto beans. Also no salsa bar. They have a tortillaria where they make tortillas but it was a mess. They also have a small bakery. read more

Went in today for some produce items. No carts. Asked an employee inside where the carts are located. He said outside. I said there are no carts. He walked me outside and pointed to all of the cart return stations located out in the parking lot. I asked if there was someone that could go collect them so that I could use one. He said they are all probably busy right now. The store didn't appear to be very busy at all. I went ahead and did my best without a cart but I will never go back to this store again. It appeared to me that they don't care about disabled customers or customer service. read more

Absolutely disappointed with this business! Not once, not twice, but three times we were given spoiled meat & Poultry! First time my dad got some chicken breasts from the meat counter and when he got home ready to make them they reeked, how in the world could they not smell it when they packaged it!? Second time it was pork! So excited to make posole only to find the meat we had just bought from them was spoiled hell! The smell was awful when we opened the bag! Third time it was Pork also! Now I have such a hard time touching or cooking pork because of this! I'm sorry but I don't think me nor my family will ever step foot in this store again! Plus some of their employees are pretty rude sometimes! We've shared this to our family and friends and they seem to also have some negative experiences on this matter! Went in last night around 8pm, was at self checkout when I was having a problem with a item, I asked a girl cashier if she could show me what button I had to press since I had multiple items of the same item. She told me she had just clocked out and couldn't help me, I asked her if she could just show me what button, that's all I needed help with and she told me no, that she was off already waiting on her ride. I told her if she could show me who was in charge in the self checkout so I can ask someone else, she replied to me that she couldn't tell me cus she was off the clock. And I asked her name and same thing, she's off the clock. Very rude , luckily a man employee was passing by that had also clocked out but was very helpful to show me and help me . Cashier at the self checkout is rude. The bread was marked down, and I made sure to read the label before taking it to the register to pay, but this guy was so sure I was incorrect. Didn't even bother to do his job and check. He said it was probably just moved there by someone while looking at me. So I just asked him to remove it, and he made a face. Kid, you're probably there for just a temporary job. If not, you might want to re-think your career. Customer service isn't for you. It's not about the price. It was about your attitude towards the issue. You don't get paid to stand there watching people check themselves out for you to be rude. You're there to assist. And this is why there are more and more self checkouts, due to people like you. I'm a sales/customer service manager, and I would never hire you. Be careful! Went to the meat department and the meat was incorrectly priced. When I brought it up to the management I was told the price (four times more than expected) was the correct price and they said it was the customers responsibility to ensure the correct meat selection/pricing thereof. The management said incorrect pricing happens all the time and they didn't seem concerned to correct the problem. Am sure, I won't be shopping there again! Definitely, would not recommend anyone else shopping there either. Too many good Mexican stores in the area to put up with unexpected higher prices. read more

Let me explain why I rated it one star, we were in there at 6:30 pm and we placed our order with an older lady who didn't seem to know what she was doing or how to even ring on a register. Rude service in the meat section, laughing and making comments jokes about customers, glaring people from the bakery, the checker at the checkout stand wouldn't even look up, very rude, i'm not sure if it's because i'm a different nationality than everyone working there but the customer service was really rude and to the point of laughing out loud at me and my husband.. This place is just going down hill , wish Mi Pueblo would of stayed in business. I've had the same experience every single time I go in the store. They always over charge me in the meat department, meat is old and smelly, and bad customer service about THEIR MISTAKES! i went in a few days ago , they had a good sale on a specific meat $1.99 a pound ... so I went in bought my meat & other groceries. I get home & check my receipt and noticed that they had over charged me $3.99 a pound and NOT the $1.99 . I went back in and asked a staff member if they could reimburse me back, well the staff member asked me to go back home and bring the meat. I explained that meat was prepared for dinner but I hade my proof of purchase/ receipt WHY would they want to see the meat? What a fkn joke! Seriously!!!! I've had it with them. Rude employees , lack of professionalism , they over charge you and to top it off sell you rotten meat. Please do a customer service training with your employees before you guys go out of business. I've ordered the tacos twice and both times the tortillas are cold (sides are cold and a bit hard). Please make sure the men properly HEAT both sides of each tortilla. It only takes a few seconds more. I'll give a 5 star once the tortillas are nice and warm (soft). read more

Once Cardenas took over, things not the same... staff just going thru the motions. Store appearance, cleanliness not happening. Maybe just buying produce/pre-packaged food is OK, but I wouldn't get anything from fresh meat/prepared food. My husband saw one of the butchers drop a chunk of UNWRAPPED meat on the floor while trying to get it in the display case. He just picked it up & put it in anyway!!!! Gross. read more

Since the change in owner this store has gone down hill. It was a weekly stop for me and I was happy with service and quality. Now the service is so bad, you can stand in front of an employee and they just continue a conversation with another employee and then tell you to go somewhere else to get help. I try to avoid the place, but ever now and again try it out. I noticed this visit the meat department has a definite odor that can't be good. Too bad it was a great market a year ago. read more
