We were here over the thanksgiving holidays in 2020. We have been coming here for years and always enjoy their apple products and nice country store. They started doing BBQ last year and it is excellent! So far it's the best pulled pork and brisket I have had in NH. They use a nice apple smoke on all the meats which I find really nice and not an over whelming Smokey flavor. read more

The General Store has a lot of different knick knacks to buy, some farmers market goods, and a small bakery. When my group walked in, a group of Asians and Blacks, we were not welcomed, not looked at, not even acknowledged because apparently wrapping up some cookies for the display case was important. We were all standing by the counter and It was not until one of my friends nicely said excuse me and asked where the closest supermarket was since it was our first time in the area and we didn't know where anything was with no signal on our phones. It was then they realized we were a bunch of nice people too. After ending with some pleasantries they actually returned the same and we walked out. I'm sure they welcomed locals with wide smiles and laughs but seriously all in all I guess minorities are still a sight in Bristol NH and they didn't want to stare. The cider donuts looked good $5 for half a dozen and they have homemade yogurt and cheese. In the end This is what still happens, going somewhere in the boonies as a person of colored skin can still elicit "certain" responses. read more

Can you say cider donuts? As soon as you walk into the store, it's all you smell, the delicious aroma of freshly baked cinnamon goodies. The little cafe also offers smoothies, coffee and sandwiches, but who cares when you have cider donuts? The cafe is really cute, a mix of eclectic tables with checker boards set with bottle cap playing pieces. Once we finished our tasty cider donuts, we moved into the small gift shop attached where you can purchase jewelry, books and locally made food. I see someone else posted that they felt ignored because of their skin color. I just want to say that I'm as white as possible and noticed the staff there seemed a little flustered? Like they could only focus on one task at a time. They were incredibly kind so I don't think they would ignore anyone on purpose, they just need a minute to finish what they're doing before they can move onto the next thing. Although only advertising by word of mouth and a sign out front they are open Friday and Saturday evenings 5-8:30 for dinner and Sunday Morning for Brunch (at least during the summertime). I had the Braised Beef, Jody had the vegetarian plate. Both were excellent. The owner greeted us and the cook came to visit us at the table. The food and service is excellent. See other reviews for decor etc. The country store offers a variety of local crafts, food and homemade baked goods. The also serve breakfast and lunch with some interesting sandwiches. Just had a fantastic dinner here on 1/2-Price wine Thursday. Started with a cheese and charcuterie plate filled with goodies. Particularly enjoyed the homemade Boursin and hot pepper jelly on house baked toast. Entrees were great - the vegetarian quinoa cakes were spot on, as were the beef short ribs (omnivores here, clearly). Service was so friendly and the dining room is so charming. If you're here with kids, ask for the "I Spy" game to keep them occupied. I never write Yelp reviews but I'm so happy to have such a solid dining option here in Bristol when we are up here vacationing from Boston that I had to take the time. Steve, Nancy and their boys are the sweetest family anyone could wish to meet. They are hardworking and talented. Cardigan mountain is fresh and woodsy. The orchard is a great place to spend the day, and I highly recommended it to the city folks who spend the day surrounded by buildings. The Cardigan Country store in Bristol is a vintage wonder box and there are many consigned items to peruse and purchase in their shop, and tasty homemade food in their bakery/deli. Last time I was their, I had the privilege of sampling their jarred pickles. GO TO CARDIGAN MOUNTAIN ORCHARD! You will not be disappointed! read more

My boyfriend and I came here for the Sunday Brunch Buffet. We were blown away by how amazing it was. Everything was so fresh and delicious. We were so full because we couldn't resist trying everything that we didn't eat again until dinner! The people who work there go above and beyond, they are so nice and attentive and you can tell they take pride in their work. The atmosphere is so cute and cozy with lots of old signs and NH mementos. They really nail the ambiance here. There are several hot buffet items ranging from bacon to tomato soup. The scalloped potatoes were outstanding. There is fresh bread and homemade jams (which we enjoyed so much we purchased a jar from the store to take home afterwards!) The cider donuts were AMAZING. And my boyfriend could not get over the chocolate chip cookies. Not to mention, they make omelets to order and mimosas are just $5. We eat out a lot in Boston and when we travel, and this was one of the best brunches we have ever had- right in Bristol, NH! read more

Went there today (Sunday) for a late brunch. Quaint interesting place, friendly and efficient staff. Could not be more open or attentive. However, the food speaks for itself; traditional brunch, carved meats, fresh soups, endless coffee and deserts. The apple pie, fruit turnovers and cookies were well over the top. Cardigan Mountain has great unpasteurized cider! Get it here every year. They also sell wonderful handmade local items, direct-from-the-orchard apples and baked goods. The dining room in the back serves coffee and cider donuts for breakfast. They now also serve dinner and the menu looked tasty but I did not have a chance to sample it. Next time! The cider donuts are the best I have ever had (and cider donuts are my thing). The donuts alone are worth the trip. Then add ice coffee with coffee ice cubes and I am in heaven. This is also the place if you need a cute local or hostess gift. Great unique decor. I have not had any food other than the donuts and coffee but they do have what looks like a nice sandwich and smoothie menu. Counter service is friendly and fast. read more

The most delicious and healthful meals near Newfound Lake! The Cardigan Mountain Country Store Cafe, operated by the Bleiler family, is top notch. Besides lovingly prepared classics like chicken or Cobb salad, they offer their own inventions. My favorites are their wraps: i.e., beet/wild mushroom/local soft cheese, BLT/avocado mousse, or turkey/cranberry/brie - roasted turkey - no deli meat here! Wherever possible food is locally sourced - even the wild mushrooms! And did someone say pie? People travel miles for their apple cider donuts made (before your eyes) hourly, apple pie, or cider donut bread pudding, with all apples fresh from their own orchard a few miles away. (Breakfast and lunch only, Tuesday-Sunday.)
