While he was here my sewer was backing up when he tried to drain the water heater. He asked that we get it cleared before he finished the job. We called Homeservice plumbers and they came out, said there was a block and they would have to tear up the basement and the starting price was almost 7k. More if they found other problems and they repeatedly tried to use, used car sales tactics and scare tactics to get me to replace Joe as my plumber and destroy the basement to clear a "block". Joe recommended Colorado Sewer Service and they came out and cleared the "block" in 10 minutes for 1/50th of what they were going to charge to tear up the basement and install a new unnecessary pipe just to begin with, which I am sure they would have tried to turn into a 20k plus job. After assuring me that if we couldn't, she would send someone the next morning, she spent over half an hour walking me through a few checks and procedures and we got the system up and running. So something I thought was going to cost a few hundred dollars or more, cost me nothing, because she wanted to save us a very cold night and the possibility of pipes freezing. Wow! We had a water leak in my twelve year old 96% efficient Amana furnace and I placed a call to Davey. Dorothy was very courteous sent out her son Junior to look at what was going on. He told me he was going to condemn my furnace though there was no signs of aerial contamination. I told him I'll go out and buy two expensive meters and they both showed ZERO contamination! Ok, Junior then said the furnace would be covered under replacement warranty as the heat exchanger was cracked. He talked to the local dispatcher and they had a unit in stock. I was then told by Junior that it would cost me THIRTY FIVE HUNDRED to get the job done. I was flabbergasted at the price! This was for labor! Unbelievable! Ok it was winter and cold temps needed to be handled so I told him let's do it. Junior returned and started installing all the while informing me that it would cost me another EIGHT HUNDRED! I told him no way! Mind you, my old unit was removed and brought downtown. He called his office and they backed off on the additional eight hundred. I left Junior alone and he put together the new furnace and installed it! It was not straight, not plumbed and he left after the furnace was running. I called Dorothy and COMPLAINED! She sent Senior out and he straightened things out. The inspector came by and failed the inspection. Senior came out again and touched up all the work. Senior had to come by a third time to rewire the condensate pump... to code! That final time he came, I could tell he was PO'ed at returning and never said a darn word to me. No respect at all! Bottom line, I was ripped off to high heaven. Thirty five hundred... for the work done? Maybe they get this from other uneducated customers but the unit was under warranty, the whole installation with labor should have cost me $2000 at MOST! I found an unbelievably reputable HVAC and they have so far treated me with respect and professionalism especially when it comes to pricing and top notch customer service. I was 7 days from closing on a sale, the line was discovered during inspection. The other duplex owner was rightfully out of her mind because the line ran under her beautiful stamped patio. Sewer Lines Only recommended tunneling under the patio from my property. We had (I'm counting....) 7 very reputable sewer companies quote this job. No one else mentioned going in from the side, and when I circled back to ask, none could. SLO's quote was 25% lower than the next lowest bid (thousands in savings) and 50-75% lower than most bids. So I was hesitant. Enter Joe from SLO - a project manager or engineer? He was so confident they could do this job from the side (really confident, not salesy confident), he made himself available to me at any time to explain the work but never once called me to "seal a deal." He probably took 20 calls/texts from me. I took the gamble and got on a plane to Denver. Jerry and his team showed up promptly for the job, were professional, courteous, and thorough. My sister had used them a year earlier and recommended them from the list of possibles. A man named Murray showed up at our house and we liked him immediately. He was honest, funny and simply very likable. He scoped our line and told us we're not in desperate need of a line replacement. We enjoyed the honesty. We had roots in our line and needed to have them cleared about once a year. Not a huge deal but the sewer backups were aggravating and always happened at terrible times. Murray worked us up a quote and we were flatly shocked and dumbfounded at the quoted price. 5k for thirty three feet of line replacement. We started wondering what the catch was. How was this possible? A full half of the best quoted price of the last three years. We took to Yelp and the BBB to research this company and the reviews were stellar as was their A+ BBB rating. A few days later I stopped in their office to accept their bid. That's where I met two more of this companies stellar staff, Monica and Kim. These two women put us further at ease this thus was going to be money well spent. A week later, Pablo showed up at our house with his crew and a skid steer. Pablo treated us like gold and was happy to learn he actually worked for Sewer Lines Only and was not a contractor. This man is a surgeon with a back hoe. They had all thirty three feet dug up and replaced in three hours. We were only minus a sewer line for three hours which really minimized our in house inconvenience. The next several hours were simply waiting for the city inspector to show up. It was very confidence inspiring when the inspector told us that he doesn't really even need to check Pablo's work as he simply never makes mistakes. The trenches were filled back in and tamped down very well. Mi sidewalks, lawn and driveway were cleaned up very well. Murray then returned and scoped the lines to make sure it was all good and he scraped the inside of our cast iron line inside the house. This was an absolutely exceptional experience from the get go. An unbeatable price and first class staff and workmanship. It's nice to have this huge worry off our backs and it came with a five year transferable warranty.
