at first, i was a bit confused since i mistook this store for a walk-in shop and didn't know about the pickup deal. i didn't have an exact product in mind, but i settled on pokemon cards before the person in front of me was done. the man (or possibly owner?) was really helpful and engaged a lot with customers to make sure he knew what they wanted or what they were inquiring. im just a hobbyist card collector, so i didn't know what specific series of cards i was looking for, and he just suggested the cheapest ones, which were what i was going for. initially i was nervous and didn't know if there was a pack limit, but he clarified its just so people don't buy out the entire stock (which is very good for business, since it happens all too often at retail spaces!) even if you don't have an order or know the exact product to the precise detail you want, staff is very helpful in giving you options :) a nice place that id stop by every week if i were local!! read more

Where do I even start? Husband and I were trying to get some cards. Never heard of this store so we decided to check it out. It's online order only and you can't go inside. The employee seemed offended that we didn't know the process and told us they did pickup only. Not once did he inform us on the actual website. Secondly the employee from the back came out to "answer" our questions, which he also was offended we were inquiring about a set that came out 6 weeks ago. He informed us we were "6 weeks late". He then proceeded to tell us incorrect information about the sets. Which feels was done on purpose. Pricing? These are scalpers, unauthorized resellers. These are the kind of people that weigh/scan packs and open all the hits. They were showing us set boxes with the shrink wrap missing, but were selling it to us at scalper pricing. For all your pop culture, anime and TCG need check out this place! The shop used to be a normal walk-in but due to the high volume of rare collectibles insides it's mostly placing orders by the door. Yes, meaning there might be a line of ppl waiting to pick up their orders. It also means you should already know what you want to get. This kinda ruin the whole checking out new interest and be absorb into the culture more. I hope it goes back to the way it was before. This place is dingy to say the least items sprawl all over the place with employees/Owner just standing there joking with each other & when i tried to get someone's attention felt like i had interrupted them as they all glared in my direction. To be quite honest the place is covered in dust/dirt you go to pickup some items only to brush you hands afterwards to get the dirt/dust off. After the episode i had in store i know for a fact i and alot of people i know will never enter store let alone take my kids to after drama i had with there Ebay store also (what is it the lunatic's are running the place or is the owner still trying to hit on employees as well as customers or is that the so called manager? After emailing them to say what had happened i was sent a one word reply ...BYE! How unprofessional? you would think, but after talking to others and reading online its not the first and dare i say it the last time if you send them an email to only get a reply = BYE! for sure im taking my money and business elsewhere just like others have done so! read more

This place is awesome the service is the best I love coming here for all the collection stuff and the prices are good. This guy has everything from hard to find stuff to stuff you never even knew existed. He's got Yugioh cards, Pokemon, one piece, magic the gathering, sports cards and more y'all have to sign up for the membership too if you're a real collector. The discount is worth it. I bring my son here too and he loves it. Definitely one of my favorite places to go to in San Francisco. Sometimes they will let you in to look around. CURBSIDE PICKUP ONLY. It's my own fault for not checking their actual website or calling first, but I just assumed since they were open because literally every other card shop I've been too is open. Maybe they're going through some kind of renovation? Whatever the reason it was a little disappointing to walk up to the door only to find out they only do curbside pickup. Some customers know what they're looking for, me on the other hand just wanted to look around. They have an eBay store where you can get glimpse of their inventory, but I'm sure they other things in the store not listed online. I will say that customer service through the phone was great, but this only really helps those who are looking for specific items. Store has been curbside pick up only ever since COVID, so casuals like me who would have been interested in coming in and browsing haven't been able to do so. I'm guessing their primary customer base is mostly locals and regulars in the area. Hope for the day they will reopen the store and allow for general customers like me to browse again. I had general questions that were met with a very aggressive tone, insisting my questions were best sent as an email as they didn't have time to speak on the phone. Not the most pleasant experience, and didn't set me up for success when I actually visited. They've set up a walk-up window with a makeshift door using plastic wrap and what appears to be a baby gate. I asked for specific sets of yu-gi-oh and pokemon and was scoffed at for asking for a particular set. Id like to support this place during hard times but they're really not doing themselves any favors. Reason for two stars? They have a wide variety (pricey but worth it if you like the convenience and want to support local) and when you actually get a chance its pretty neat to walk around the store. I am befuddled at this store. I've been looking for a local comicbook store since I recently starting collection again, and was going to try this one since their pictures seemed to indicate a decent size. For several weeks I've been calling, emailing, and sending messages on their facebook page. Only twice I've managed to get someone on the phone (I've called more than 10 times, during business hours), and in both instances they told me to email them. I had already done that, but I did it again, to multiple emails they gave me... to no avail. Business must be booming, because it seems impossible to get a response from them. I've never tried so hard to get a store to sell me something, for the privilege of dropping over a thousand bucks per month.. never felt so ignored by a store before! I noticed a figure I wanted is priced for $330 on the website but $170 on their Amazon page. According to Amazon it said it would be shipping directly from their shop. I wanted to call to confirm they had the item at the shop and not at a warehouse or whatever. As soon as I mentioned a price difference a woman on the phone hung up on me. As a new Mezco collector since this is the only brick and mortar store to my knowledge close to me carrying this brand maybe I could justify getting past my bad experience with their customer service if they had more Mezco. Their pricing kills it for me I can see why you guys have had some figures for a really long time. Not being able to walk in the store is also such a big negative for me. Looking at half the other crap you guys have is half the experience and a good way to get suckers to spend more money. I stopped in my trip and was awkwardly told the store was closed for in store shopping. He told me if I wanted something I'd have to place an order on his website and wait god knows how long for my order to be processed. The website does t even have everything listed. The bay has done a splendid job with covid numbers so I really don't get the overkill here. Came here while waiting for my friends to arrive for lunch near by and was amazed with their small but awesome collection of Sailormoon merchandise. Had to resist from buying everything, especially when the customer service was amazing. Ended up with two of the mystery Night & Day figurines for my sister and myself. The gentleman at the front even helped me look up if the mangas were available. Came home and opened up our goodies and was surprised to find two of the three figurines we were hoping for. What I like about this store is that the people who run it don't take everything to do in the comics world so seriously. I just wandered into the shop on the way back to my car from Buffalo Burger and was very impressed. It is kind of a Nerd Heaven there. They have a very impressive selection of toys, model kits, action figures, comic books, manga and other awesome nerdy tid bits. I only have about 20 mins left on my meter, which quickly flew by as I wandered around. The scope and overall selection were some of the best I've seen in a while. I really wanna go back again when I have more time to really just dig through all the isles. I did, however, walk away with pack of Bacon Flavored Gum Balls. When it comes to bacon... I will really give anything a try if it has to do with bacon. As I opened the package I got a waft of something kinda close to a bacon smell. I quickly popped one in my mouth and...WOW it was pretty vile! There was a hint of bacon flavor through the sugariness. Once that wore off the bacon flavor was more present, but still very faint. In a world today where the internet and conventions have drove away the neighborhood brick and mortar retail stores, it's nice to see a place like Cards & Comics Central exist. They have a robust selection of modern recent new comic books as well as an assortment of action figures, dolls, toys and things related to the pop culture genre of science fiction (Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.) and fantasy as well as things that are stereotypically of " nerd / geek" interest (Manga, Anime, Godzilla, Speed Racer, Super Heroes, etc.). It's like a museum of nostalgia here. The owner/worker is friendly, which is always a big plus when you go into some of these types of businesses you never know if you're going to get the disinterested, socially awkward, rude, or chatty within the vacuum of passionate fanatical (fan boy / fan girl) conversation that sometimes deviates from reality. This place seems fan friendly as a retailer. They also have sports action figures and toys as well as sports trading cards. There's something for everyone, boys, girls, men and women of all ages who are interested in collecting, likes knick knacks and novelties as well as fun stuff. Parking isn't so easy, but if you know how to find street parking in SF's Richmond neighborhood and can avoid the meters or take public transit, it's easy. This is one of the better comic book stores in the Bay Area for new books that blends in other interests. They could use more room or organization to display their stuff and showcase some back issues of comic books for customers to shop a bit better, but I think they just have huge volume, so it's tough when the square foot rental rates of SF is also probably cost prohibitive to expand too much more unless business warrants it. read more

It's no Games of Berkeley, but it's pretty dang good for a neighborhood without too many options for this kind of stuff. A few board games (overpriced), definitely lots of cards/comics. You also can find weird stuffed animals, action figures, etc., so it's a classic nerdy store with some space to play cards in the back. High school me would have been in love, but then again, high school me had Galaxy Cards and Comics, and now adult me has Games of Berkeley. read more

Can only speak to the sports cards and customer experience: What sports inventory they have left (mostly low-end to mid-tier packs from early to mid 2000s) is mind-boggingly over-priced, which tells me a) the management does not understand how to move old product that depreciates over time or b) the management is uselessly sentimental about old packs of cards (I say "uselessly" because these were not exceptional releases in their day and certainly not now). Customer experience is also lacking. Would not let me take a closer look at boxes or packs, except under supervision of staff and one at a time, for fear of theft. I've been to all the remaining card shops in the Bay Area; not one treated me this poorly/suspiciously. Bottom line: this amateur operation is the last place to go to in the Bay Area for sports cards, in terms of selection, prices, and service. read more

I've loved Cards and Comics Central since I was a wee little boy. I remember when their home was next to the Kitaro on Geary and I'd go in there with my dad and brother after dinner. The guys always treated us great and I'd say that they've even improved their customer service in recent years. I was looking for sports trading cards for my nephews. They don't actually specialize in sports trading cards, but they do carry some on their shelf. They had baseball, football, and basketball.
