Carefree Pet Resorts is the BEST ever!!! The staff and management are so kind and caring to all the dogs. They are so thoughtful too, as I forgot to inform them that I was taking my dog Cooper away for the week and they actually called me mid way through the week to see if we were all OK because they hadn't seen us for a few days. Now that is what I call EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! My dog Cooper can't wait to go see all of his 2 & 4 legged friends there everyday. I boarded my 3 dogs here just before Christmas. We picked our dogs up and they all smelled of dried urine. We didn't make it out of the parking lot before all 3 dogs were peeing and pooping in their parking lot as they had not been let out to go to the bathroom yet that morning!! I do not feel they let them out to go to the bathroom much at all as we had issues with them peeing and pooping in the house for a couple days after we had them home. We have a doggy door and have always had one. This was unusual behavior for our dogs for sure. We have never had an issue like this when we have picked dogs up from boarding at other boarding facilities. They also said we could not have their dog beds back as they were all soiled and they had to wash them. The only way this happens is if they were not let out to go to the bathroom. They had to sleep in their own waste! When we were picking up our dogs, a couple was dropping off their cat. They put it in the carrier on the floor in the lobby in front of one of the registers. This was at 7:30am or so. I had accidentally left our dogs bucket of food in the lobby as I was too distracted with the poop/pee extravaganza going on in the parking lot. I returned at 9:30 to pick up the food container and the cat was still in the carrier, in the lobby, in the exact same spot it had been in a couple hours earlier. The guy working the front counter was in the back talking to the groomer. Nobody else was in there. I asked him to speak to a manager and to my surprise, he said he was the manager! I gave him a piece of my mind and let him know our dogs will never return and also told him that the cat had been sitting there for two hours in the lobby and he just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. The business was recently sold by the original owner to a corporate entity that owns multiple daycare facilities. As you can tell by the reviews in the past year, the quality of service has severely diminished. Don't let these people take care of your pets. You would be better off just locking them in your house and hoping for the best when you returned home. It would be the same level of care they would receive at Carefree Pet Resort, I can assure you of that!!! I have been boarding dogs for 20+ years and have NEVER had an experience like this. I feel bad leaving this review but the place has deteriorated in recent months and I have had to switch away. The last two times my very nice and sweet dog (a lab) was there she was extremely sick afterwards for days. Defecating in the house, unable to make it outside. I wasn't sure what was going on but I had to sleep next to her for two days until she calmed down. She seemed extremely stressed. I saw in the next door forum that people have posted that they saw dogs walking around in urine and feces. Maybe that was the issue? Also on the last visit, they also claimed to give my dog a bath but they didn't. I'm not sure what is happening over there. It didn't use to be like this. Normally I wouldn't post a review like this but I felt so sorry for my dog! read more

My 7 month old Doberman had the time of her life. She's hard to tire out but with her new friends at Carefree Pet Resort she slept like a baby! The staff makes sure all dogs are safe in the controlled environment. Highly recommend to help socialize your pup And keep them busy. read more

My only reason for not 5 stars is out of their control - it is access to outside running/playing area for dogs - not condusive to that up here in Carefree and their location, but that would make this place near perfect if they could incorporate some outdoor, enclosed play area for doggies to run around....with that said, as a first time doggie day car Daddy - this place is amazign - my little guy is a 6mos old chihuahua mix and I desperately want to ensure he is socialized and all with all sorts of dogs and humans - was about as nervous (first time puppy daddy too) as you can be; felt like i was dropping my kid off at first day of school - but the whole experience was amazing - from moment we walked in, to the explination of facility, the types of dogs there, etc - was a day care experience of 4-5hrs and was exactly what i was looking for. read more

I have used Carefree Pet resort since it opened. I was suspicious when they required me to sign a waiver that said pets would be left alone overnight, but then the staff quickly added, "don't worry we never leave them." I knew the original owner, and was unaware that she had sold the business. Fast forward to my dog's last stay in May of 2022, we were gone for 2 weeks. I'd carefully measured out her food, and her night time treat, when we returned, there was 3 days of canned food left, as well as 3 large biscuits, (her night time treat). In addition I made a special trip to 2 stores (up in Carefree) to buy her a bone because I'd forgotten her's at home. They assured me they'd give it to her. When I picked her up it was still in the plastic wrapper. It's clear to me, my dog was left alone for 3 nights and did not get fed, for those nights. Time to find a new kennel. read more

We've been going to Carefree Pet Resort for 3+ years and we will not be going back. I believe they changed ownership last year, and it hasn't been the same since. The last 2 stays, our dog returned home extremely sick. The last visit was worse. We racked up heavy $$ vet bills to get her back on track. The staff there seem nice enough, but we don't trust them with our dog anymore. The last time I was there to pick up our dog, I noticed poop everywhere in the play room...it just doesn't seem clean! read more

We made a reservation for our dog to stay overnight. You have to provide food a the usual papers (rabies etc) which we did. When she returned, they returned all her wet dog food with her. They hadn't fed her any wet at all. They apparently didn't walk her either because I wasn't charged for it even though I told them I would pay to have her walked. Before this we took her for a meet and greet. They kept her all day in a pen. She isn't good with other dogs (but great with people) and I told them this. But she was to have some attention in the several hours she was there. Didn't happen. We also took her here for grooming. They kept her there 4 hours! She has short hair! They just got behind. I can't recommend it. They don't follow their own rules and certainly don't care about your dog. I'd beware. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. We boarded our dogs here for two nights and one of them came home covered in his own feces as if they weren't letting him out! They didn't even have the decency to clean it off of him. He is not a dog that has accidents, and after reading the stories on here from other people who have had similar experiences, I am 100% sure that place is neglecting the pups. I also got a weird vibe they may be doing drugs there. Something about the overall appearance of the couple of people working there that I saw... it was questionable. read more

This is a home away from home for Perdita! As an only child she goes here for play dates and spa treatments! This is the only place we will board her. She has special needs and requires medication at different times of the day and they have someone on duty 24 hours. HUGE perk for us! read more

We took both of our dogs here for a 4 hour trial. I got a wierd feeling when they would not allow us to see where the dogs would be staying. We did the next week do an overnight just to make sure it was a good fit. When we picked them up one of our dogs had urine stained paws and both reaked of urine. I had to bathe both immediately. I emailed them about this just to give them an opportunity to respond before I left any reviews. No one bothered to respond. Never again! read more

We have been taking our dog here for 3 years. Even through the change of ownership a year or so ago, we've been very happy with the service. Our dog loves it here. She's always excited to see the staff. They are very friendly and helpful. I also check her occasionally for signs of any bites or injuries. Nothing! Under the prior owner she did get kennel cough. Great resort for cats! Carefree Pet Resort took such good care of my cat who has asthma. When I made the reservation, they assured me that there was a vet tech who would administer the medication. When I dropped off my cat, the owner said she did not know about this. She asked me to show her how to administer the medication and told me that she would personally make sure the medication was administered. The owner's assurance made me feel that my cat was in good hands. When I picked my cat up, she was happy and healthy. Not only did they do a great job of taking care of my cat, but they also sent her home with a toy. Their dedication to taking good care of my pet has made me a life long fan. read more

After years of taking my dogs here, I received a call giving me a real earful because my dogs were not picked up as promised. Very accusatory. I explained I had called but had to leave a message explaining the dogs wouldn't be picked that day but probably the next, and I would call the next day to update. I had been in hospital, a fact of which the staff was made aware. At the time of this 'chastisement', I had been released for just 24 hours. After leaving the aforementioned message advising the staff of the change in pickup plans, I received new contracts extending my pets' stay for two more days. I naturally believed my message had been received and the extension was to notify me to that effect. After hearing my explanation, the staff member's tone changed, saying it wasn't 'on me' but on some staff member who works the front desk and 'doesn't like' retrieving messages. I'm still upset and I certainly didn't deserve or need this rudeness. In the future, I'll be taking my babies elsewhere. read more

Under new management i noticed several things happening that are not okay. when I dropped my dog off to get groomed, a worker at the facility used her foot to push a dog away from her, while in the play area. Picked up our babies after a 4 day stay. Both were very smelly and our one elderly dog had dried up feces all over his rear. For what we paid, we would expect better care of our dogs. We had to come home after picking up our dogs and had to take them straight to the shower to clean up the feces on them. We were very disappointed after paying $400 for the stay.
