This is the worst company I've dealt with. They decided on their own to cancel one of my prescriptions because "they didn't think I needed it". The representatives I spoke with had no answer as to why this happened. Since my fiance is a lawyer, we contacted Carelon Rx AGAIN and explained they don't get to cancel a doctor's order because they feel like, and then all of a sudden- my order was being processed. My primary sent a rx to them and they will not ship it to me. Maunjaro 2.5 for blood sugar, they only have the 5 mg and the 7.5 mg, but are not ordering the 2.5 mg. Why, your a pharmacy and your to supply the prescriptions thru my insurance company. But you don't and you don't care about my health. 40.00 thru you for 3 months and 1300.00 locally. Anthem has essentially forced me to use Carelon, unless I want to pay an extra $100 a month to use my local pharmacy. My doctor cannot approve my prescription because they are not receiving any requests. Carelon will never make a phone call to the doctor, per their representative, they only use fax. Carelon stated it is my problem to deal with. I will be without my prescription now for an unknown amount of time, as it still has not been filled 6 business days after I spent 3+ hours on the phone. Walgreens would have handled this within 1 business day, without assistance from me. I will absolutely be changing my insurance to anybody besides Anthem, as soon as possible. Also worth mentioning is that I spent hours on the phone with Anthem to confirm my prescription pricing and coverage prior to choosing them, nobody said at any point they were giving me "grace period" pricing for Walgreens and that I would need to switch to Carelon after 3 months. read more

I am so glad that I am not the only one having this experiance. I thought it was just me. However, as one reviewer stated I have had the toughest time getting medication ordered through Carelon RX home pharmacy. My health care provider has submitted the prior authorization which should last up to one year. Every time I submit for a refill Carelon Rx claims to have to contact my doctor for prior authorization. We should have a choice for the home delivery provider we want to use. Unfortunately I cannot select to use my previous provider. In the last 20 years I did not have to play the middle man between my home delivery pharmacy and my doctor until I had to change medical insurance providers due to a job change. They claim to care but it seems to be all about $$$. It's been 7 months now and I have been out of medication at least 2 months and at the beginning of the year I missed a month of medication due to this terrible company. read more

I've never seen so many 1 star feedbacks in my life and I saw the reviews after I placed an order with CarelonRx. My mom's health plan (Anthem) doesn't cover medications at retail pharmacy, even the ones that are in network. So to make a long story short. I ordered a super expensive medication for a minimum co-payment. Was shipped the next day. Showed tracking accurately. It said delivery on August 4th and arrived 3 days earlier. CarelonRx is transphobic. "Care" means they only care about themselves and self-preservation. They deny gender affirming medications nationwide due to individual states having variances in laws instead of making any attempt to align their policies on a regional basis. They do not share this publicly as it is an "internal policy". CarelonRx is part of the problem with American healthcare and the resounding 1 star reviews across the board are a testament to this. Husband's company started using CarelonRx in 2025. I switched doctors towards the end of 2025. New prescriptions were sent to Caroline, tier one medications were received shortly thereafter. No bill included. Three months later I received a statement with no dollar amount on it. "Just use the QR code or login." CarelonRx did not recognize the QR code, my member ID number, the invoice number nor the refill number. I called in to settle this matter. Folks there just kept wanting me to log on. As I placed my refill order with exception for nonpayment, I found that each of these medication's were $25 each. I abandoned that process asked for a paper bill because I can use GoodRx and get it for pennies. read more

Update - although I wrote to Carelon's member services group, they never bothered to write back or do anything to help me locate a prescription that they lost and then told me to figure out myself via a USPS claim that they insisted I needed to submit. I did that and eventually received my medication, unfortunately after running completely out for about a week, despite repeated efforts by my doctors to help. After Carelon literally telling me they wouldn't help, amazingly they keep calling me to check whether I received my prescription, occasionally (and humorously) getting me confused with other customers. My first experience with this online pharmacy was absolutely horrible. A year ago, I wasted at least 40 hours on the phone trying to get a prescription and there were so many problems with it that I cried on multiple occasions. However, since that first experience, it's been extremely easy to get 90 day supply of my prescriptions, which are both controlled. Today, a pharmacist called to ask if I wanted the original prescription that my doctor called in (which had been backordered) or the substitute, now that the first was back in stock. That was really above and beyond. He also gave me his phone number and direct email to contact him if I needed help with anything. This is a remarkably poorly run and chaotic mail order pharmacy. Expect to spend long wait times on hold, disconnections, AI responses, and at least half a day to get even the simplest questions or problems addressed. Even then it can take months to get a new prescription actually mailed to you. To get a customer off the phone some reps will simply say the med is not covered and there is no way to get prior auth done. When dealing with them do no take no for an answer. Just hang tight through multiple reps and calls to get the real answer. It is amazing they are still connected with Anthem. Yikes. read more

AVOID CARELONRX AT ALL COSTS!!!! DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY. I wish I read all the online reviews before I signed up with them. Yelp, BetterBusinessBureau, all other online reviews everywhere is people saying the same as me now. Well, I gave them my credit card info. Make sure you don't. They will charge your card and send out prescriptions without your consent as the patient/recipient!!! How is this even legal?! They said if a doctor submits a prescription to them, they fill it, and the patient has no say in the matter. SO... if a doctor mistakenly submits a prescription that costs a $1,000,000 and the patient calls immediately, like within 30 minutes or less of CarelonRx receiving the order, these uncaring, inhumane cockroaches won't cancel the order and will ship it no matter how long or loud you scream or cry, and the worst part is that it takes 7-10 days to even process the order, so why the f can't they cancel it within minutes of receiving it? Well, that's because they are a money making scheming company that cares 0% about a patient, and 100% about money. So don't even bother fighting them. Their reps, who I've had the displeasure of speaking to at least 5-10 of them now, are all condescending rude robot-like simpletons, they're overseas, they read a script and all they know how to do is "verify your communications preferences". I begged and pleaded to cancel my order but the rep keeps telling me that I don't understand them and that I'm not listening to them. They refuse to answer my questions. They 100% refuse to let me speak to a manager or higher tier escalation person. So there's no way to escalate a critical issue to an American. Who knows what these overseas reps are doing with our information anyway. I'm going to freeze my credit and make sure they can't commit fraud under my name. Because that's the sort of people that are on the phone "to help". The rep was SO rude he had me crying. And no matter how many times you hang up and call back, the same type of uncaring, script reading robot answers, and talks to you in a belittling tone and refuses to answer any relevant questions. Their whole process is absolute garbage. I'll be filing a formal complaint with all regulatory agencies, including HIPAA, because aside from crappy customer service, there is absolutely no way it is legal for ANY pharmacy to mail drugs to a patient without the patient giving consent and acknowledging the order and the charges to their credit card. Absolute worst pharmacy and company that I have ever dealt with. I have tried working with CarelonRX for over a week to get my prescriptions filled. I have had to contact this inefficient company with incompetent employees daily. The result? My medications are being sent to the wrong address. After noting, again, that they were preparing to ship to the wrong address, I reached out again yesterday to try and rectify the matter. "Jacob" said he would have the prescriptions sent to the correct address. I reiterated multiple times that I will not be paying for these scripts because I previously reached out to prevent this from occurring and was repeated assured that the scripts were being sent to the correct address (even though it still showed the incorrect delivery address on my end for the order). His response? "Oh, that's up to your insurance company." No, "Jacob," it is not. In case like this where the errors occurred on the part of the pharmacy making the errors, the burden falls to the pharmacy not the patient nor their insurance company. When I checked this morning, there are no new orders pending. This is truly the most incompetent company with incompetent employees. How am I supposed to take medications necessary for my health when they are 3,000 miles away from me? This isn't like I can just drive across town to pick them up. The prescriptions are multiple states away. away. I will NEVER be able to recommend this pharmacy, nor Anthem's desire to use them for their members, after this ordeal. If these medications were necessary to prevent blood clots or more acute issues that could be, I am sure the result would have not be any different. Those would be litigious cases if anything happened (e.g. PE, DVT, stroke) because a patient wasn't able to take their medications due to inefficient company practices, repeated incorrect software/systems, and incompetent staff. I called in a reasonable time frame to have my medications filled and sent to me. NINE DAYS of dealing with incompetent people and a company that should not be allowed to run, let alone work in the healthcare/pharmaceutical sector. My medications are on their way half way across the country and there are no new orders pending to get my medications to where I physically am located. All this despite me deleting the billing address and only keeping the address where I need the medications sent. read more

First of all, if you're an Anthem customer you may not have to go through Carelon, you might be able to use BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy (if it's available in your state and for your medication); it's still owned by Carelon's parent company but they answer their phones and are much more helpful than anyone at Carelon has been). If Carelon has mishandled your case, some types of actions are reportable to your state pharmacy board (more info here: https://www.uniteforsafemedications.org/resources). I now record every call I make to Carelon and let the agent know they are on a recorded line in case I need to share this recording to prove they were non-compliant. Now on to my personal experience with Carelon...just when I thought I'd had it with the American healthcare system, CarelonRX proved my experience still hadn't hit rock bottom. I was denied medically necessary medication by a Carelon reviewer, a medication that was recommended by 4 of my healthcare providers. I fought Anthem/Carelon for several months before going to DMHC (agency that oversees HMO and some PPO CA health plans). DMHC ruled my medication, was in fact, medically necessary. I spent 20+ hours on the phone with Anthem and Carelon during this whole ordeal. It's to the point I've had their hold music stuck in my head. To make matters worse, Anthem and Carelon ignored DMHC's IMR ruling, routed me to different contacts on a never-ending loop and wasted my time until I got my office HR team, benefits manager, my doctor and the State involved. I am logged in to my CarelonRx account looking at my CarelonRx dashboard, and see the 30 other prescriptions that I have made with them, chatting with them from my CarelonRx account page, but somehow I don't exist anymore in their system, so they can't help me. Absolutely horrible! I have never had such terrible communication or care from a pharmacy, and I have used many other mail order pharmacies. They do not tell you they are sending a prescription until it arrives at your house and then you get billed for it, even if you had it filled elsewhere. I have spent now 3 hours trying to contact them to get a refund and return a medication that is not needed and they just keep passing me around saying "I apologize but nothing can be done" over and over. They denied a return because the provider sent the script now 2 months ago and they just now sent the medication last week. This is complete BS. read more

I would give Carelon zero stars if it was possible. Almost every experience I have had has been excruciating. I get transfered from one person to another, get told I will get a call back and never do. And each time I call again, I have to start explaining the issue again, to some hapless phone operator who doesn't seem to have any information or control over how things are managed. This latest experience was totally maddening...the doctor called in the Rx, but before I could confirm the order after checking the cost, the Rx shows up in the mail with a $100 price tag. I never initiated the order, and after numerous calls in to see if I can return the medicine, I am told that they will not accept a return or apply a refund. I'm not sure what I'll do if they then send me an uninitiated refill! CarelonRx Pharmacy has been a nightmare since starting with them at the beginning of 2025. Every single time I have a new medication it turns into a major event. My doctor sends the prescription over, then I requested online that it be filled and then they tell me that they must contact the doctor because it has no refills - it is a new prescription that has not even been filled! Then they tell me that I must also call the doctor to let them know that the pharmacy will be contacting them regarding the prescription. I chatted yesterday in an attempt to get a new prescription filled, it went through three different representatives and the last one told me the prescription would be processed. I called back today to confirm that it is being processed - I am back at the beginning of where I was yesterday, waiting for a second individual to chat with me about the prescription. Just started Anthem and was petrified after reading Yelp reviews about Carelon Rx which we are required to use. This is only a first impression but: Doctor submitted 9 prescriptions. All were on the website within minutes and began processing. Five were shipped within two days. 4 were listed as "problem with payment". I called, got through in less than one minute, and agent explained they do that when the co-pay is high and want to be sure of patient approval. I approved, and the remaining prescriptions are now being processed for shipment. The pharmacy tech I spoke to and the customer service rep I spoke to were bright, pleasant and helpful. And, unlike other healthcare companies I have dealt with, they were not in a third world country and reading from a script. read more

It is horrifying and disturbing to have become a victim of the negligent and irresponsible actions of CarelonRX Pharmacy. I was emailed on 10.31.25 that it was time to refill my script. On 11.03.25, I tried refilling the order via their multiple options and kept receiving notice that I had no scripts available. When I went online, my script showed 3 refills remaining, but was still unable to process a refill. I had to speak to a rep only to discover they transferred my prescription on 11.01.25 to an "unknown pharmacy" without receiving any authorization, verification, or communication from me or my doctor's office. They allegedly received a call from someone name "Sandra" from Birdie Pharmacy requesting my script and gave me the phone number to contact them directly. I called Birdie and they have absolutely no information about me anywhere in their system or a script transfer, nor do they have anyone named Sandra working there! Most upsetting is that CarelonRX cannot or will not provide any information as to where they actually sent it, or the NPI number of the pharmacy and there is no paper trail, which I was told is a legal requirement! My personal information has now been breached!! Persistently I asked & then demanded the details of the transfer and they claim they don't have access to any of the information, nor would they allow me to speak to someone who has the knowledge! The rep continued to insinuate the problem was mine and couldn't provide any rational or logical explanations. No record, no accountability, no transparency. Even worse, they seem to have zero HIPPA & Safety protocols in place which is most likely a legal violation. No checks, no safeguards, no paper trail and most alarming, no concern for patient privacy or well-being! It's as if they're operating in their own world where ethical standards don't exist. This isn't just bad service--it's a serious security breach of my personal information & breach of trust now exposing me to identity theft and fraud! If you value your health, privacy, or peace of mind, steer clear of this pharmacy and the people who work there. They've proven they can't be trusted with something as critical as your medication & can care less about security and fraudulent activity within their own organization! read more

For the last two years I thought there must be something wrong with the way I am trying to refill prescriptions. But I came here to read the reviews and I saw that 477 out of 479 reviews have one star. The way this company operates is beyond the pale. I can't count all of the reasons as to why my prescription has been delayed. Every 3 months I have to refill this prescription and it takes no less than hours and days to get to the bottom of it. You need to send it in online. You need to fax it in. Oh you should have sent it to the Florida office. Oh you should have sent it to the Arizona office. Oh, it's expired (when the expiration date is two weeks from the day I called or the day after). Prescriptions canceled after they were filled. Who knows--there is always a reason.
