Last week, a Carelon customer service agent called to ask why I hadn't filled my prescription in a while. They had no idea about anything that happened. Beware! DO NOT HAVE YOUR DOCTOR WRITE A PRESCRIPTION TO THEM BEFORE CHECKING THE COST! They will ship the medications without even consulting with you - i didnt authorize the shipment and was charged for the delivery. I had plenty of medication on hand. My Dr was merely calling in a refill for me to request a delivery when I needed the medication. I was forced to pay a ridiculous amount for the medications that I didn't need. Now I have over 6 months of medications on hand. Hopefully my dr doesnt switch my dosage or switch my medication. I actually found a better and less expensive alternative. If I could give you this joke of a company zero stars, I would. They have deleted my mother's prescriptions, have extraneous information or incorrect information in their system that doesn't allow you to refill your medication, they take forever to ship, and there's no there there when you call them. We actually had to talk to one of their programmers a few weeks ago for them to finally ship two prescriptions, and now one of them has again disappeared! So we went and had our physician submit again, and it is still in there in a way that we cannot order the med! This is the worst company we have ever dealt with in medical care. I cancelled order with them and asked my doctor to send it to CVS. The price for medication is the same at CVS and i am getting 3 month of supplies. NO need in CarelonRX. Recent post generated feedback from CarelonRx home delivery to contact them. However, contacting the home delivery was nothing but a joke. One response indicated that I would receive a telephone call from an agent that was previously handling the problem. Guess what? No call. Why in the world Anthem contracted with them for mail order pharmacy is beyond me as this pharmacy is nothing but useless in handling problems. This company needs to replaced by Anthem ASAP. If you can, use ANY other pharmacy. CarelonRX should only be used as a last resort or if you're forced to through insurance. If you have any other option available to you, TAKE. IT. I cannot capture in a review the agony I have been put through by this company for the last 4 months. At best, what I've been facing is medical negligence and malpractice. Because of my insurance plan, I have no other choice. The CarelonRX system is broken, so prescriptions enrolled correctly for auto-refills simply don't get refilled and sent, while prescriptions that aren't enrolled for auto-refills will suddenly move forward for a refill when not requested to, and there is nothing you can do as the patient to control or stop this. If your phone call is not dropped, you will spend massive amounts of time trying to make your problem clear to the associate on the other end only to have nothing come of it. Calling is the only thing I can do, but I have never been better off for having done so. Even if they grasp the error, no explanations are given as to why this might be, and NO ACTION is taken to solve it. This is not a description of a one-off customer service interaction, this is what I went through in, literally, dozens upon dozens of calls I've had to make in the last 16 weeks. The sheer number of times I've had to go cold turkey on medications that are commonplace and not facing national shortages is beyond explanation. I've used this pharmacy for years, when they get it right and prescriptions can be self-managed online it's great. However, today was the final straw for my using this hell hole of a pharmacy. I needed my medication renewed after misplacing it during our California emergency. Five days ago I tried to renew and after over one hour talking to various people on the phone (having started with their online chat humanoid moron) they told me that I should have my local pharmacy call them for the prescription so I could get it refilled quickly. The local pharm said Carelon never called them back and frankly never does. Today I called Carelon again. I spent 55 minutes speaking with 4 different people to try to get it renewed and was so close to completing the renewal order until the last person disconnected me and never phoned me back. So now I'm over 2 hours wasted to refill one prescription. I could go on and on about their imcompetence, but why waste another minute on them. Run from using this place, they really stink at their job. This proves why shopping local is best. read more

CarelonRX scheduled my medication on Mon 8/12 to be delivered on Fri 8/16. CarelonRX Cancelled my order without informing me on Tues 8/13. Could not provide me with a phone number they contacted me from only that, "someone should have called you at 10:30AM" - my call logs show the first call I received on Tues 8/13 was at 11:15AM from a co-worker. We also confirmed my contact information so that was a lie. They are not organized and just glorified drug dealers. read more

It has been a total nightmare to get two of my prescriptions filled! I can't believe it! Express Scripts never gave me one ounce of trouble. Carelon seems to want to question my prescribing physicians! Do they think that they know more than a licensed doctor does? I never had a problem until my insurance switched to Carelon this year! I transferred my prescriptions to Carelon after receiving an email pitch that the transfer would be seamless and that I could have my prescriptions delivered to me at home. The transfers were not seamless and, in fact, Carelon never filled any of my prescriptions even after four months. Carelon kept insisting that my doctors had either terminated the prescriptions or failed to provide required information...which were lies. Then Carelon said that they had sent three faxes (faxes? In the 21st Century?) to each of my three prescring doctors and that none of the three had responded to any of the faxes. Not believable. So Carelon required me to contact my doctors to relay Carelon's messages. I asked that a supervisor call me back and was promised that one would within 24-48 hours. No ever returned my call. By now I'd been out of my prescriptions (blood pressure, cholesterol, and a steroid) for several weeks to more than a month. Desperate and getting no response from Carelon) I had a primary care physician write new prescriptions and send them to a local CVS pharmacy...which filled them the SAME DAY. This refers to both Anthem and CarelonRx. After a number of phone calls I think I do have a solid, automatically recurring prescription for my G7 supplies. We'll see when the next refill is due. Anthem won't let me fill my regular meds (pills) with them, so I had to change those to CVS/Caremark. Now I'm just trying to see what's on my CarelonRx account and have found it impossible to do. CarelonRx says to get there through the Anthem site and an Anthem tech says they have no link like that and to go straight to CarelonRx. Robot Sydney is a joke, no help, and telephone people, although nice so far, don't understand my experience. I am in the boat with everyone so far. The problem for me is connected to the take over of Anthem January 1, 2024. Up to 2023 Empire was easy to work with and now it is a chaotic tsunami. CarelonRx seems to have been redesigned by Anthem and CarelonRx and now the tsunami is like the meteor that made the dinosaurs extinct. There are new processes in place and all of them are not working. I have sent in a grievance about staff and staff. I would recommend everyone who is frustrated, if you haven't filed a grieveance now do it. And don't let them talk over you. read more

CarelonRX is 100% unreliable for those of you looking for mail order access to important medication, as I am. I have taken Clonazepam to treat my BET symptoms for 11 years now and given my insurance worked with this company, I tried them. They correctly fulfilled my prescription the first time, and then have completely screwed up each and every prescription (1x/mo) since then. I have wasted countless hours on the phone calling them and trying to get them to acknowledge my doctor's prescriptions that have been correctly submitted, and let me know when to expect my medications should be delivered - so that I don't have a lapse in my meds - and each time they are clueless. Like literally, they either can't find the script in their system, or don't know if/when they will be mailing the meds out, or just leave me hanging on the phone line for 10-20 minutes until I hang up in frustration. If you are considering ordering anything from them other than Vitamin C, I would strongly (and I mean strongly) recommend not doing so. You will most likely be gravely disappointed, not to mention left in a lurch with not having the meds you need. And if you rely upon these meds on a daily basis I as unfortunately do, it will be rough. Shame on you CarelonRx - you employ untrained and incompetent people and run your business in a shoddy fashion and from the reviews I am now for the first time reading, you are a complete disaster. And to be this reckless with people's medical needs is completely unconscionable - If you are going to suck at your job then at least do so in an industry where you are selling chicken feed or tractor bolts - but certainly not something that people rely up for their medical needs. I had my Dr send in prescription and they received it on July 18. The original prescription was filled on 7/3 with a 30 day supply, Today I called to ask when it would be shipped and they are still working on the order?? Now I won't get my medication on time because they can't figure out that 10 days from Aug 2 is July 22. It's now July 29 and they just started processing. Told me to get a short supply from my doctor so now I have to go begging to try to get another prescription. With all the negative reviews I've seen I am doubting I will even get this prescription. First they tell you it takes 10 to 14 days to process a new prescription then when it mails out they use the Postal Service which takes even longer but hey, if you want it faster, you can pay a fee and we'll ship it overnight for you. They don't care if you are on meds that your life depends on. They are not flexible whatsoever. Unfortunately, I'm forced to use them for maintenance drugs or I have to pay higher co-pays at a local pharmacy. Carelon is the worst compant I've ever worked with. Our company uses them. They constantly contact me to pay even tho they have TWO of my credit cards on file! They also lose my prescriptions regularly and I don't realize it until I'm almost out of meds. They say they don't get the refill approval from my dr, but my dr sends a years worth every February. My dr is threatening not to use them any longer. They also offer for me to get a weeks worth of prescriptions locally to hold me over until the can send me my 90 days worth, then their pharmacist sees that I have a new prescription so won't fill my 90 days because they dont bother to read that it was only for a week. Then I call and they apologize and say they'll get me another week while their pharmacist sends the 90 day and IT HAPPENS ALL OVER AGAIN!!! It's absolutely maddening. The absolute worst mail order pharmacy in the United States. I was told that I would have to have a credit card number on file in order to receive my free prescriptions (I'm on medicare), or else they could not send the free prescriptions. Under those circumstances, I, reluctantly gave a credit card number and EXPLAINED that I wanted them to call or text if a prescription was going to be charged to the card. The representative ASSURED me that they would not fill any prescriptions without contacting me first. That did not happen and I was recently charged over $300 for a medication that I called to cancel. I was told that the medication had already been sent and once I received it, I could return it and credit would e applied to my card. I was told the process would take 3-5 business days, and that I should receive the return label within that time. It's been a week, and I still HAVE NOT received the label. Upon calling several times, I was told that the process of review takes 3 - 5 BUSINESS days before the DECISION could be made to determine if the return would or would not be approved, and then the label could be approved (or not) and be sent. In the meantime, they are using my money to draw interest for themselves. This pharmacy needs to be closed down. Did not do any research before having prescriptions sent to CarelonRX. WARNING! Please do some research and adhere to these poor reviews and know that you are making a BIG MISTAKE if you choose/use this pharmacy! read more

If I could give this mail order pharmacy a zero I would. Switched because I was told it would be better and easier since it's connected with my insurance. Plus more affordable. Received my meds the first time when my DR sent my scripts to the pharmacy. I am 2 days left on an important medication I can't skip days on and after multiple conversations and messages I finally have my meds coming in "3-5 days". I received messages and emails that said my meds were ready for refill end of August, but was not allowed to refill them when I tried despite having a refill still available and valid. Couldn't get in touch with my doctor or on call after being told I should request my DR to send in an emergency quantity while I wait. I am so irritated and frustrated and this was only my first time refilling a med. Once I actually get my meds I am leaving. What a Trainwreck. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Before 2024, I was able to use the online portal and refiling a basic prescription was pretty easy. Then CarelonRX had a system update the first week of January and everything got messed up. Now, because my health insurance is through Anthem, the only option I have is to call in and order it. The first time I called, the CSR couldn't find my prescription even though I had the digital receipt from my doctor saying that CarelonRX had confirmed receiving it four months before my call. When I called back, I was on hold for over an hour while CarelonRX tried to locate my prescription and put me through to a pharmacist to place the order. I finally told them to forget it and just purge my account, the CSR said that they would. I asked my doctor to get the prescription sent to a local pharmacy. When I went there, the pharmacy couldn't refill my prescription because there was an existing prescription in the system through my insurance, from CarelonRX, even though the CSR said that they would purge my account. I called back the next day and after waiting on hold again, the CSR told me they couldn't help me because the system was down. You encounter incompetence at every turn; it's like every aspect of the system is designed to cause patients stress and frustration and prevent them from getting their medication. The only thing the CRSs seem to be able to do is place people on hold, all they do is just refer you to someone else. It does not matter what day or time you call, you will sit there and wait. They have earned every terrible one-star review on this site and all the negative comments are accurate. Because of CarelonRX, I am out of medication and unable to get more. read more

I get one prescription filled through this service and it is horrible. I've had to call multiple times to find out where my prescription is and these phone calls take over an hour each time! Horrible communication. They will tell me one thing, put me back on hold and someone will tell me something else. They said that they will reach out to my doctor every time I need a refill order but I've had to call every time cause the medicine doesn't show up.
