The absolute worst mail order pharmacy in the United States. I was told that I would have to have a credit card number on file in order to receive my free prescriptions (I'm on medicare), or else they could not send the free prescriptions. Under those circumstances, I, reluctantly gave a credit card number and EXPLAINED that I wanted them to call or text if a prescription was going to be charged to the card. The representative ASSURED me that they would not fill any prescriptions without contacting me first. That did not happen and I was recently charged over $300 for a medication that I called to cancel. I was told that the medication had already been sent and once I received it, I could return it and credit would e applied to my card. I was told the process would take 3-5 business days, and that I should receive the return label within that time. It's been a week, and I still HAVE NOT received the label. Upon calling several times, I was told that the process of review takes 3 - 5 BUSINESS days before the DECISION could be made to determine if the return would or would not be approved, and then the label could be approved (or not) and be sent. In the meantime, they are using my money to draw interest for themselves. This pharmacy needs to be closed down. Did not do any research before having prescriptions sent to CarelonRX. WARNING! If I could give you this joke of a company zero stars, I would. They have deleted my mother's prescriptions, have extraneous information or incorrect information in their system that doesn't allow you to refill your medication, they take forever to ship, and there's no there there when you call them. We actually had to talk to one of their programmers a few weeks ago for them to finally ship two prescriptions, and now one of them has again disappeared! So we went and had our physician submit again, and it is still in there in a way that we cannot order the med! This is the worst company we have ever dealt with in medical care. This refers to both Anthem and CarelonRx. After a number of phone calls I think I do have a solid, automatically recurring prescription for my G7 supplies. We'll see when the next refill is due. Anthem won't let me fill my regular meds (pills) with them, so I had to change those to CVS/Caremark. Now I'm just trying to see what's on my CarelonRx account and have found it impossible to do. CarelonRx says to get there through the Anthem site and an Anthem tech says they have no link like that and to go straight to CarelonRx. Robot Sydney is a joke, no help, and telephone people, although nice so far, don't understand my experience. Recent post generated feedback from CarelonRx home delivery to contact them. However, contacting the home delivery was nothing but a joke. One response indicated that I would receive a telephone call from an agent that was previously handling the problem. Guess what? No call. If you can, use ANY other pharmacy. CarelonRX should only be used as a last resort or if you're forced to through insurance. If you have any other option available to you, TAKE. IT. I cannot capture in a review the agony I have been put through by this company for the last 4 months. At best, what I've been facing is medical negligence and malpractice. Because of my insurance plan, I have no other choice. The CarelonRX system is broken, so prescriptions enrolled correctly for auto-refills simply don't get refilled and sent, while prescriptions that aren't enrolled for auto-refills will suddenly move forward for a refill when not requested to, and there is nothing you can do as the patient to control or stop this. If your phone call is not dropped, you will spend massive amounts of time trying to make your problem clear to the associate on the other end only to have nothing come of it. Calling is the only thing I can do, but I have never been better off for having done so. Even if they grasp the error, no explanations are given as to why this might be, and NO ACTION is taken to solve it. This is not a description of a one-off customer service interaction, this is what I went through in, literally, dozens upon dozens of calls I've had to make in the last 16 weeks. The sheer number of times I've had to go cold turkey on medications that are commonplace and not facing national shortages is beyond explanation. The original prescription was filled on 7/3 with a 30 day supply, Today I called to ask when it would be shipped and they are still working on the order?? Now I won't get my medication on time because they can't figure out that 10 days from Aug 2 is July 22. It's now July 29 and they just started processing. Told me to get a short supply from my doctor so now I have to go begging to try to get another prescription. With all the negative reviews I've seen I am doubting I will even get this prescription. This mail order company sucks. First they tell you it takes 10 to 14 days to process a new prescription then when it mails out they use the Postal Service which takes even longer but hey, if you want it faster, you can pay a fee and we'll ship it overnight for you. They don't care if you are on meds that your life depends on. They are not flexible whatsoever. Unfortunately, I'm forced to use them for maintenance drugs or I have to pay higher co-pays at a local pharmacy. Carelon is the worst compant I've ever worked with. Our company uses them. They constantly contact me to pay even tho they have TWO of my credit cards on file! They also lose my prescriptions regularly and I don't realize it until I'm almost out of meds. They say they don't get the refill approval from my dr, but my dr sends a years worth every February. My dr is threatening not to use them any longer. They also offer for me to get a weeks worth of prescriptions locally to hold me over until the can send me my 90 days worth, then their pharmacist sees that I have a new prescription so won't fill my 90 days because they dont bother to read that it was only for a week. Then I call and they apologize and say they'll get me another week while their pharmacist sends the 90 day and IT HAPPENS ALL OVER AGAIN!!! It's absolutely maddening. If I could give this mail order pharmacy a zero I would. Switched because I was told it would be better and easier since it's connected with my insurance. Plus more affordable. Received my meds the first time when my DR sent my scripts to the pharmacy. I am 2 days left on an important medication I can't skip days on and after multiple conversations and messages I finally have my meds coming in "3-5 days". I received messages and emails that said my meds were ready for refill end of August, but was not allowed to refill them when I tried despite having a refill still available and valid. Couldn't get in touch with my doctor or on call after being told I should request my DR to send in an emergency quantity while I wait. I am in the boat with everyone so far. The problem for me is connected to the take over of Anthem January 1, 2024. Up to 2023 Empire was easy to work with and now it is a chaotic tsunami. CarelonRx seems to have been redesigned by Anthem and CarelonRx and now the tsunami is like the meteor that made the dinosaurs extinct. There are new processes in place and all of them are not working. I have sent in a grievance about staff and staff. I would recommend everyone who is frustrated, if you haven't filed a grieveance now do it. And don't let them talk over you. read more

CarelonRX is 100% unreliable for those of you looking for mail order access to important medication, as I am. I have taken Clonazepam to treat my BET symptoms for 11 years now and given my insurance worked with this company, I tried them. They correctly fulfilled my prescription the first time, and then have completely screwed up each and every prescription (1x/mo) since then. I have wasted countless hours on the phone calling them and trying to get them to acknowledge my doctor's prescriptions that have been correctly submitted, and let me know when to expect my medications should be delivered - so that I don't have a lapse in my meds - and each time they are clueless. Like literally, they either can't find the script in their system, or don't know if/when they will be mailing the meds out, or just leave me hanging on the phone line for 10-20 minutes until I hang up in frustration. If you are considering ordering anything from them other than Vitamin C, I would strongly (and I mean strongly) recommend not doing so. You will most likely be gravely disappointed, not to mention left in a lurch with not having the meds you need. And if you rely upon these meds on a daily basis I as unfortunately do, it will be rough. Shame on you CarelonRx - you employ untrained and incompetent people and run your business in a shoddy fashion and from the reviews I am now for the first time reading, you are a complete disaster. And to be this reckless with people's medical needs is completely unconscionable - If you are going to suck at your job then at least do so in an industry where you are selling chicken feed or tractor bolts - but certainly not something that people rely up for their medical needs. ATTN LAWYERS- please someone find a client and subpoena their records from Carelon. They don't have records past 1/1/25, according to the call i had today with PA specialists. It is a violation not to hold patient records.. I am not a lawyer, but a simple search says HIPPA laws state 6 years of patient history must be retained. Yet, today, they can not find my PA that was submitted Q4 of 2025. I am lucky, as my chronic med is available, at the same cost, through mail order compounding pharmacies. I will not be using Carelon if I can bypass them. I will be detailing my experience and submitting this to our HR director. This is beyond unacceptable, this is actionable behavior and is dangerous to the patients they "serve". For all those who work at Carelon, shame on you. read more

Several days ago my doctor sent in a prescription to CarelonRX as he had done 4 times in the past year for a 90-day supply of a medication I've been getting from CarelonRX for several years. Having not receive any updates about the status of my order, this morning I logged into my Sydney app and chatted with a CarelonRX representative who informed me that my order was being processed and that I'd receive my medication in several days. Based on my past negative experience with CarelonRX, I decided to call them directly several hours later to verify the status of my order. Its a good thing I called because, as it turned out, the information they gave me was completely inaccurate. In fact, my order had not been processed and was nowhere close to being shipped out. What happened during the next 3 hours was one of the most infuriating and frustrating experience I've ever had trying to get a prescription filled. First, I was told that it was too soon to fill my prescription because I still had 30 days worth of medication left. When I tried to explain that the last time I filled my prescription was late June and that was for a 90 day supply. It is now late September. 30 days in a month. Late June to late Sept=3 months. Thus, 3x30=90 days. She actually said I was wrong and that June to late September is only 60 days and since I got a 90 day supply back in late June, I should still have 30 days worth of medication. I was literally speechless. She couldn't do basic arithmetic. I insisted that she please redo the calculation. She put me on hold for 30 mins and came back to say there was nothing she could do and that I'd need to escalate, which I did. I then spent another 2 hours on the phone with two other reps, most of that time on hold. I proceeded to talk to a rep for about the next 2.5 hours to implore them that I will be out of my medication by the end of this week. Finally, after much back and forth, they said they'd do an override and proceeded to transfer me back to get my claim processing so I can get my order processed and shipped. That was when the processing rep said she couldn't run my prescription because of another rejection and I needed to talk to customer service. I told her I'd just spent 2.5 hours on the phone with customer service and they'd done an override and then transferred me to her so she could process my order. The rep said she knew nothing about an override and in any event she needed to transfer me to a pharmacy technician so I was placed on hold for another 30 minutes. When someone finally answered the phone, she said actually, they couldn't fill my prescription because the pre authorization form on file from my dr had expired in July and they needed a new one from my dr. They had been sitting on the prescription my doctor sent in for 3 days and didn't bother to tell me. It was only when I called and spent 3 hours on the phone with them that they finally discovered the missing form. Btw, I've been getting my prescription filled by CarelonRX for almost 2 years and they had a pre authorization from my doctor on file which had just recently expired. They had all of this information and didnt think to mention it to me. It took them 3 hours and 4 transfers just to figure that out! Absolutely ridiculous! And this wasn't the first time I've had to experience this sort of absolute incompetence. For the past year or so, every-time I tried to get my prescription filled, I always get the same issue. No one at CarelonRX seems to know what's going on. They either have to way to document case history or receive no training on how to properly document case and patient history. I routinely have to spend 2-3 hours on the phone and get transferred back and forth for the issue every time I try to get my medication. They have consistently been incompetent but until today they were at least courteous and apologetic about the delays. The reps I spoke with today, however, were not only incompetent as usually, but also rude beyond belief. The last rep I spoke to today was rude, kept interrupting me and at one point, actually told me to stop talking she could explain to me how to get my doctor to send in a pre authorization form. When she finally let me speak, I told her this would be the 3rd time in the past 2 years that my doctor has sent in an annual pre authorization so I knew what I needed to do. When she tried to give me the so called "urgent pa" phone number, I actually read it back to her because I'd memorized the damn number from having to call so many times in the past. She then proceeded to ask me in a sarcastic voice if I wanted to wanted to file a grievance about my unpleasant experience. I literally couldn't believe what I was hearing. The audacity! How CarelonRX can stay in business with such appalling customer service is beyond me. read more

I've had many egregious experiences. Just today (Nov 18) I recieved a bill stating I allegedly owe for meds I supposedly received in February (Yes, 9 months ago) after I called in May asking about my balance and ensuring they cancelled all perscriptions. At that time I was told by several, and I mean several people working for Carelon, that I had a 0 balance. A zero balance in May and now I get a bill? What incompetence! Carelon switched my refill from 90 day to 30 day for no reason. Phone calls to correct were repeatedly transferred around and then disconnected. No one took responsibility for solving the problem. I have CarelonRx through my employer's health insurance. CareloneRx sends me email reminders that it's time to refill my medication. I submit the request to refill and now I receive an email that it's too early to request a refill. I can't request to refill until 5/13/2025. Why send refill reminders stating it's time to refill but that's not the case. It's a waste of time, and energy. Terrible service. read more

CarelonRx keeps messing up the prescriptions sent by my providers. I had to call customer service, but the outsourced agents in India lacked the knowledge to solve any problems. I was constantly transferred to different agents and even disconnected while waiting on the line and I had to start over from the beginning. It was a nightmare. I paid an extra $30 for expedited delivery. CarelonRx promised delivery within 2-3 days, but I'm still waiting 4 days later. If you have a choice, try a different pharmacy! read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Before 2024, I was able to use the online portal and refiling a basic prescription was pretty easy. Then CarelonRX had a system update the first week of January and everything got messed up. Now, because my health insurance is through Anthem, the only option I have is to call in and order it. The first time I called, the CSR couldn't find my prescription even though I had the digital receipt from my doctor saying that CarelonRX had confirmed receiving it four months before my call. When I called back, I was on hold for over an hour while CarelonRX tried to locate my prescription and put me through to a pharmacist to place the order. I finally told them to forget it and just purge my account, the CSR said that they would. I asked my doctor to get the prescription sent to a local pharmacy. When I went there, the pharmacy couldn't refill my prescription because there was an existing prescription in the system through my insurance, from CarelonRX, even though the CSR said that they would purge my account. I called back the next day and after waiting on hold again, the CSR told me they couldn't help me because the system was down. You encounter incompetence at every turn; it's like every aspect of the system is designed to cause patients stress and frustration and prevent them from getting their medication. The only thing the CRSs seem to be able to do is place people on hold, all they do is just refer you to someone else. It does not matter what day or time you call, you will sit there and wait. They have earned every terrible one-star review on this site and all the negative comments are accurate. Because of CarelonRX, I am out of medication and unable to get more. read more

Shipped on 10/23 and USPS "forwarded" my script on 10/26 due to an address label issue. That was a Saturday and the post office in question is 10 minutes away from my home. CarelonRX cannot tell me where my script is. I have to call the rural post office to find my meds is what I was told by Customer Support. CarelonRx said they have to "review" whether to reship my anxiety meds if usps cannot find them, and that is 24-48 business hours to do so. I get on a long flight tomorrow and my doc sent in this script once already on 10/22. I have no other way to get this medicine prior to my flight. If you value your health and sanity, shop local. I get one prescription filled through this service and it is horrible. I've had to call multiple times to find out where my prescription is and these phone calls take over an hour each time! Horrible communication. They will tell me one thing, put me back on hold and someone will tell me something else. They said that they will reach out to my doctor every time I need a refill order but I've had to call every time cause the medicine doesn't show up. I wish my insurance did not make me use this service. Maybe it's the insurance that's the problem?? read more

CarelonRx has gone severely downhill recently. For years things worked efficiently & correctly, but since the rebrand from Ingenio it's been very disappointing. A couple recent examples: 1) Used to website to stop auto-refills for a medication I had WAY more than I needed. They continued to ship & I was instructed to send them back. 2) Sent the first over-shipment back, and they cancelled a different medication with a remotely similar sounding name 3) Cancelled item still showed as active in their system, but with no way to submit a re-order. Called once and they said they would fill & ship. They didn't. 4) Called back to inquire, that's when they informed me it had been cancelled, apparently at my request because of the return. ARGH! 5) Now they have to get a new prescription because their system will not allow them to un-cancel an item. Have spent at least 2 hours on the phone trying to get this resolved, and that's just one of their screw-ups. If you have the option to use another online pharmacy I'd recommend it. CarelonRx is the worst mail order pharmacy I've ever had to deal with. I'm a type 1 diabetic, and I take 110 units of insulin every day. CarelonRx has set up a 100 unit maximum daily usage rate for insulin, a randomly chosen amount of medication, not tied to anything. But insulin is expensive, so they put obstacles in the way of getting your meds, and do not communicate the problems until it's too late to get your meds on time, before you run out of what you already have. For 45 days, I kept having my doctor submit the script, and I'd get a notice it was rejected, with no reasons. Every time I called CarelonRx to find out why, the rep on the call would guess, but never be able to tell me what was wrong and then would tell me that they had fixed it and I should get a notice in a day or two of an approval. NOPE. Each time, I got rejected again. Eventually, I insisted of speaking to a supervisor, who told me that I need a "pre-authorization" for the prescription and that was the problem. He had no idea why no one had told me that. When I asked what that was, I was told it was a confirmation of my medical diagnosis and of the amount of medication I needed. (Sure sounds like what the prescription does...) For the next 2 months, CarelonRx kept saying that the forms had been "faxed to the wrong office" or "were incomplete" or "had been received but got lost". My doctor's office people told me they've never had problems like this with any carrier, and they do pre-authorizations all the time. They keep submitting, and talking on the phone to the right people, follow their instructions, and it STILL gets rejected. These guys are clowns and they are simply being difficult in order to not ship an expensive medication. I know no one has a choice about their medical insurance, but if anyone out there has any decision making authority, CarelonRx sucks. Anthem is my insurer and if anyone at Anthem reads this, please pick someone else be your mail order provider. Over the years, I've used several mail order companies.
