Health Update: from review on 12/29 I sought care at this carenow location two days ago and reported clear symptoms of a serious respiratory illness. Despite this, appropriate evaluation and escalation were not performed. My condition worsened as a result, and I was taken to the ER, where I was admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of double pneumonia. I am now receiving inpatient treatment. This hospitalization could have been avoided with proper assessment and action at the initial visit. read more

I had a good experience here this morning. I had been up most of the night with a deep, painful cough and a cold lingering for 9 days. My throat hurt so badly that I finally decided to get some medical help. I arrived at their 8 am open, masked, and was told to scan the QR code to register. Filled that out plus a physical form, paid my copay and had a seat. It took half an hour to be called back, and I was the first one to be called back, so I was surprised a bit by that. The nurse who got my vitals and basic info was super sweet. My PA was Danica. She came in right after the nurse, and she was so kind, thorough, and empathetic. She sent me off with some meds and the validation that I've been doing the right things to treat the virus. There weren't any issues picking up my meds at my pharmacy right after the appointment either. All in all, I was impressed. I imagine the wait times later on can be long though, as the waiting room filled up, literally every seat taken, after my arrival. One thing that did bother me was the tv volume. I felt that it was really loud, though I'm sure my sickness was making me extra sensitive to the noise. This urgent care, associated with HCA, is around the corner from me, so I'm sure I'll be back if needed in a pinch. read more

Anyone could see from my red swollen throat and yellow/green phlegm that I had at least a sinus infection, and should have been given antibiotic, but no... this guy gave me Flonase and no other medicines... Terrible experience with front office staff. Lies. Rude. Highly unethical. Refused to do their job properly!!!! I've been hung up on by Customer Service and the manager. The person at the front desk also refused to call the insurance company to see if I owed a copay and she refused to do so. I explained to her that other companies are able to call the insurance company and verify if I owed a copay because I have met my deductible. She explained that it was for a family co-pay, and not for an individual copay. She obviously doesn't know the difference between the two or just outright lying. It is her job what the difference between the two are. Manager refused to assist in the problem. She told me that their name should have been on their name tag. But their names are not on their named tag at all! The person who assisted me did not want to tell me her name, and her name was not on the name tag. The manager also said that it was not her job to handle the problem and I needed to talk to corporate. There is no way to get in touch with corporate to file a complaint. I'm incredibly disappointed with my experience at this establishment. I scheduled my visit online- initially given a reasonable time-slot, however then received repeated delay notifications. I waited over three hours before coming in. Once inside, I waited another hour before my vitals were finally taken. After an additional 30 minutes with no update and no provider insight, I had no choice, but to leave due to my responsibilities as a healthcare worker. Weeks later, I was shocked to find $160 charge on my credit card for a visit in which I was never actually seen by a medical professional. When I contacted customer service to request a I was told charge was valid simply because my vitals have been taken, despite receiving no further evaluation, diagnosis, or care. As someone who works in the medical fields, I understand the value of time and the importance of appropriate billing. This experience was not only frustrating, but also deeply concerning in terms of ethics and transparency. I hope the facility take steps to ensure no other patient is charged for services they never received. read more

The office visit charge was $185 for cash pay, no need for you to file insurance and guaranteed immediate payment. That's ridiculous for a 5 minute exam and hour wait. And because you don't have to process insurance there should be a break. $185 is ridiculous. read more

Less than one star, waited an hour and a half for a workers comp claim injury while no one else was even in the waiting room

The provider I saw, Wormuth, had us wait for two hours only to tell us there was nothing she could do and to go to the ER. When we had a follow up question for her she refused to come in and see us again. Prior to her coming in to see us the first time we heard her in the hall saying she wasn't going to see us next even though we were next in line. The front office staff were fantastic and overworked. I realize the provider was the only one there and she was fried but making someone wait two hours to walk in and say go somewhere else is a bit much. And refusing to address an additional concern is wrong to do. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

5/2/2024 I went to CareNow in Mechanicsville, VA for what was to be "Urgent Care" that turned out to be a two hour ordeal! Their website lies about the wait time. After finally getting into a room, I started to leave after waiting for an hour with no doctor or staff updating me of the long wait. Staff is not very friendly. I waited for almost 3 hours to see the physician (the only one on staff). The physician spent about 10 minutes with me. She prescribed ear drops that were $125 (I have a health insurance plan with a high deductible). I have a Health Saving Account. Today, I received a bill for $542, Blue Cross/Blue Shield negotiated the rate down to $264.15. I had already paid $60 toward the payment -- which leaves me a balance of $204.15. There is no customer service, you have to check yourself in via their portal. I could have gone to an Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) specialist for the same or lower cost. I had no relief from this visit. The physician did NOT prescribe the generic ear drops for this visit (yes, I should have asked). I will not be going to this location again. They used to be call "Better Med" but sold out to "CareNow Urgent Care". Be aware of the cost before you visit this location. read more

The review is for the Short Pump location, but I'm sure all the locations are equally horrible, since all my complaints to head office and later to Virginia Health Department were useless. Please read the reviews of all the patients suffered health and financial damages from this company. The company and Virginia Health Department will do nothing to correct the unprofessional NPs working in this facility. It looks like the specifically chose nurses, that have no ability to diagnose, no desire to help. This is the only facility that will charge you ahead of time 185$, you might not even see anyone, and they will still charge you, as per phone conversation with the head manager of Short Pump location as soon as you enter the examination room you already owe them. The nurse asked me 10 times if I was Hispanic. I honestly feel sorry for Hispanic population, as I have a feeling I was treated so badly, because she was convinced, I was Hispanic. Just because a person has dark hair it does not mean, that she or he is Hispanic. The NP did absolutely nothing, there are zero tests in my chart, zero information about my health issues. I was sent to ER next to this so-called urgent care and ER doctor said: "You are lucky, they did not do any expensive tests, because they would send you to ER anyway." Do not got there, because no matter what they do or don't do, you will be in financial debt with absolutely zero resolution of your problems. I waited over 2 hours to see a provider, even though I scheduled an appointment online, while new-hire drug test were seen first. The ladies at the front desk failed to explain that they keep your credit card on file and will bill you automatically for any charges not covered by insurance. Nurses struggled to get my blood pressure and blood oxygen levels. The billing department failed to update my account as requested which resulted in overpayment and then I have to wait for a paper check via mail for my refund. read more

Overcharged at check in on 8/30. Registration desk stated I had not met my insurance deductible for the year, when I have. Showed the agent my account with my insurance company online stating that I had met my deductible. Charged me $195.20 at check in when I would only be responsible for 20% of the final charges. Also had to sign agreement that they could charge my card at any time in the future for any additional costs. Received explanation of benefits on 9/19 stating that I was only responsible for $40.20 for the urgent care visit. Contacted CareNow's billing department and they showed that a refund had been initiated and that I would be mailed a check. I asked that instead of mailing a check to have the amount refunded to the card that I used at check in. I was told they could do that, but it would take 3-4 weeks to process the credit card refund. I find this totally unacceptable. I can promise you that if my explanation of benefits came back saying I owed additional fees, they would have already billed my card for the amount due. There is no reason that a refund to the card that was used at check in should take 3-4 weeks to process. Their inability to properly read current benefits in their system and inability to promptly refund a mistake on their end will prevent me from ever using their services again or recommending them to anyone. read more

I put 10 minutes and received a text at 11:02AM. I walked to the location Front Desk as the text instructed within 11 minutes. I was told after I stated my name to sit in the waiting room for 40 additional minutes. There was also a 20 minute wait in the examination room to meet with the physician. It does not sound like they saved my space in line at all! read more

I came to his location to get treated for a sinus infection. had all the symptoms of a sinus infection, and was told that I hadn't been sick long enough for it to be a sinus infection, even though show her when I blow my nose blood comes out. The nurse practitioner told me to take that I have a cold. when ask her to check my records, she got attitude and said no I've been doing this long enough to know what I'm saying and referred to me to take over-the-counter medicine. if she had checked my records, she would see that I have high blood pressure and I cannot take an over-the-counter medicine.
