Most of the residents look beat up and bruised from falling because they weren't being watched. The staff are thieves. Management could care less about anything. And your nickel and dimed for everything, you think you pay one price but your bill is several thousand dollars a month more. I was told one thing several times, but they never stick to their word they do what they want. I've never met a bunch of more uncaring people in my whole entire life. My parents were barely there for three weeks and couldn't wait to run away from that place as fast as possible. Don't fall for their bullshit.

It was good for quite a while, but now (Fall 2019) it is in turmoil. It is woefully understaffed (does it even meet code?). They can't retain people at any level, from primary caregivers to department managers. Pay levels and how staff is treated are both issues. The facility is nice, opening in 2016, but their management has taken a serious turn for the worse. The ownership of this facility is Morningstar Senior Management of Denver, CO. They provide no e-mail address, no complaint channel via e-mail, web or telephone, and no one on their executive team will either take a phone call or return a message. Sadly, we are going to look for another facility.

We were shown price lists, etc. The community appears to be well managed and is planning for the future: some independent-living unit have been converted to assisted living, which certainly follows the national trend. Unfortunately the 2-bedroom unit lacked adequate storage for us. Had it been configured differently, there is a good chance we would have moved.

Olivia at the front desk was always friendly and willing to help. Joe, the main chef accommodated my dad's unique requests. Amy the pharmacist was very kind. The housekeeping staff was very thorough. The aides were very attentive. My dad had ambulation issues and every time he would push 'the button' they would come running to assist. Maintenance was great when he was having issues with the A/C. I have nothing negative to say about the facility. The dad passed a couple weeks ago and they have been in constant contact with me if they was anything they could do to help. We just received a sympathy card from The Ridge signed by the staff and some of the residents. I would recommend this facility to anyone.

The manager Kim was absolutely terrible as was the general manager Chris. My mother was also diabetic and as soon as she was here the Dr decided to take her off of her insulin and try only Metformin. The problem is that this caused her blood sugars to soar and in turn caused her to have some behavioral problems. We didn't know any of this until they decided that they were kicking her out to a behavioral home and it was happening that night. Kim also seemed surprised that we had been down every weekend to visit. We had not ever been informed of her behavior problems until they were sending her away. Then my mother was at the behavioral home for 4 weeks due to the fact that at 2 weeks we were informed the night before they were due to release her that they wanted us to get guardianship over her, a $3500 process, when in the state of Arizona we did not in fact have to have that because of the surrogacy law. They were unwilling to take it. In the end we had to move her. However, when we went to get her things , that we had written her name on (every piece) we got a large amount of other peoples things and were missing a lot of her stuff. Her mothers ring had been stolen(we forgot to take it from her as she always wore it). Her custom made grandma blanket was missing. The worst part of the whole experience was how cold and un-empathetic Kim and Chris were. It was heartbreaking to see my mother deteriorate even faster due to the poor management. We placed my mom in mid February, when physically she was still very healthy and mobile and she passed in June a true shell of who she was in Feb.

My…read moremother had dementia, but she was still able to bath herself, go to the bathroom by herself and wash her hands. I explained to the staff that I was putting her in this facility because she needed stimulation from activities but she had to be coaxed into knowing where the activities were. The staff did not lead her into participating in the physical activities that were listed on the calendar, such as fitness fun and toss and talk. The only activities I observed the residents doing was playing bingo and watching TV. My mother's dementia caused her not to be able to read, write or comprehend tv shows. She lost her ability to recognize letters or numbers. I advised the staff of this. The memory care unit did not pay attention to their residents. My mother's watch was stolen and found in another resident's room. The staff lied to me and told me she was participating in activities twice a day, but when I went to visit, they would ask how I got her to leave her room. I would go during different times of the day and they never followed the activities they had listed on the calendar. They were always playing bingo or watching a movie. The memory care unit did not provide adequate water to the residents and when I went to visit, I could never find water for my mom to drink. I tried calling on the days I could not go and see her but was always met with having to leave a message with no return phone call. I was told by Valerie the Director that I needed to email the director of the memory care unit. When I did, I would never receive an email back telling me how my mom was doing. Within 14 days of my mother being in this facility, she became severely dehydrated, she had complete renal failure and a skin tear on her right arm that no one knew how she got. This was because they did not check on her like they said they would. She went all day one day without eating and I never got a phone call advising me of it. The skin tear caused her to become sepsis. On August 15th she was placed in Hospice of the Valley and died on August 20th. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. The pictures on the website are only of the assisted living part of the facility. The dining room in the pictures is in the Assisted Living part and all the programs they say they do on the website are a misprint because they only play bingo and watch movies. The memory care unit is dirty, and makes you feel like you are in an insane asylum. I was advised by Valerie, the Director of the facility, that I needed to provide my mother with two sets of towels, sheets, blankets, and bedding. When I picked up her items and cleared out her apartment after her death, there was still blood on the floor from her skin tear. The clothes and bedding I provided were missing and I only received one set of sheets, blankets, and pillow cases. Some of the clothes I brought home had someone else's name on them and when I picked up my mom's medication, I received meds with other residents' names. The caregivers do not know how to handle the memory care residents or do not really care about them. If you love your loved one who has dementia or Alzheimer's do not put them in this facility. They do nothing that is mentioned on the website or the activities calendar. This care home was sited with 20 citations after my mom died but were only fined $500.00 for not providing adequate water to the memory care unit. The total amount the State of Arizona fined them was $2500.00. I was not able to get justice for my mom because of her age. It is all a money bucket. My mom died because the staff at this facility neglected her, so if you love your relative with Dementia or Alzheimer's do not put them in this facility. Don't believe the website either all pictures and activities are for the assisted living section.

Her two bedroom apartment had a fantastic view of the peak, with a bit of Camelback off to the right side. She was used to luxury, and had no real issues with the way the things were run. When covid came, they locked down the facility within an inch of the law. I never heard of a single resident catching the virus, and staff members were tested very frequently. Meals were delivered to her door every day, and her biggest problem was boredom. Her health started to fade with a series of strokes, but the Terraces kept her from getting covid. We were so impressed that we could see ourselves living here or something like it when we downsize.
