I used to work in the area and I happened to see a flag that said "Caribean". My eyes lit up because I am of Puerto Rican descent and anything Caribean I will support. Being in Northern California you won't find too many Caribean spots unless it's Jamaican(I love as well). I decided to stop by at lunch time one day and made an online order of just Yellow Rice and Pigeon Peas, Plantains. When I got there the food was ready and I noticed they had Goya sodas. I am not big on soda but I haven't had one in months so I grabbed it. First off let me say the rice was amazing, soft and flavorful. The name Yellow Rice and Pigeon Peas is the same as Arroz con Gandules which is a Puerto Rican staple. The only difference is ours is more Orange due to the Sazon seasoning. The Yellow Rice was still similar and really good. Paintains were fried perfect, really crisp on the edges which I like. Some places leave them soft or too thick which makes it taste doughy! The second time I went I got the rice and plantains but also the Chicken stew and Mac n Cheese. The Chicken stew had a bold taste, not really spicy and you taste the flavor immediately. It was cooked well and chicken was moist, the stew sauce just made it better. The Mac was probably the only dish that was "Okay". This is likely due to my preference for Southern Mac. This Mac was a tad bit runny with cheese and it had a heat to it like Jalapeno Mac. I got the homemade lemonade for my drink, this was different, not bad but again probably due to my preference of Lemonade. It had a sweet kind of Tampico finish lol. I'm used to the sour then sweet finish I guess but it was still decent. Service was exceptional, food came out quick and hot! 4.5 stars would be my rating but I'm not going to give them 4 stars over lemonade and Mac because I still liked both. 4 stars would be a disservice. I noticed that they only had 1 other customer both times I arrived. This place is way too much to not be busy. Maybe it's the location and lack or banner but I drove by recently and I believe there is a new overhead that says "Caribean Fire Grille".... Please support them. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect esp given the empty display cases and that few people eating when we came for lunch. But food was amazing. Very flavorful and comforting. Ordered plate that came w/ plantain, yam, pork, spicy cabbage (this was bomb with the spinach n okra dish). Also got an empanada which was huge and delicious. It had hardboiled egg and sausage perfectly flavored. The dough wasn't sweet which I liked. It took 10-12 mins to cook as the dough was made fresh. Worth the wait and plan to get again. My kid enjoyed my leftovers too. It is only $9 (listed under appetizer) but honestly large enough for a lunch meal if trying to save $. Wish I took a pic before devouring it! Loved it! First time here, and hopefully not our last. Everything was delicious, and strangely tasted of home. We got the crispy taro fritters, chicken stew, the Haitian spaghetti, beans and rice, fried plantains, and amazing beet and potato salad. When I entered the restaurant at 12:30 pm I questioned if the place was open - the place was dark, there were pastry cases that were completely empty and absolutely no one eating in the restaurant during this lunch hour. I ordered the battered pork bites (can't recall its name) and black mushroom rice with vegetables. The rice dish was absolutely delicious and that would have been enough for me, the pork had some good pieces though half of it was overcooked, the sautéed vegetables were so flavorful I finished it - that rarely happens with me. My lunch date had the jerk chicken and she just loved it but I understand it's spicy. The service was slow coming out of the kitchen - the woman that took our order was also the waitress. I may have to return and try something different -- that's if they remain open. read more

I came in on a Monday around two thirty in the afternoon and the restaurant was completely empty which surprised me because the food was absolutely incredible. I was greeted by the sweetest woman who made me feel so welcome the moment I walked in. Since it was my first time I asked for a recommendation and she suggested the oxtail with beans and rice along with the spinach and okra side. The food was unreal. The oxtail was tender with rich flavor and the broth tasted like it had been cooking all day. The beans and rice were seasoned perfectly and the spinach and okra side was fresh and comforting. Every single bite had so much flavor. I am honestly shocked that this place was not packed because the quality of the food is outstanding. This was one of the best meals I have had in a long time and the kindness of the woman working made the experience even better. First time trying Caribbean food and really liked it. We ordered the oxtails which were really good and tender. We also ordered the fried snapper fillet with red beans and rice. I wish I would have ordered the whole fish as I wasn't a fan of the fish fillet just didn't seem like it had much fish in it. We had the salmon bites which were excellent. The coleslaw was really good and was very spicy. We also had the mushroom rice which we liked a lot! The hostess was a doll and very helpful!! Not going to lie. It took a little while to get the food but it was worth the wait. I also have their own parking lot so parking just got an issue. We'll definitely go back to try more things. read more

This place is pretty pricey for the amount of meats they put in one meal. I spent $150 for 5 meals. My son drove from Elk Grove to pick up. The food is good but the amount of meats u get on each meal is a joke. They put so much rice that it's enough for 3 people but the meat isn't enough even for 1 person. What a waste of money. I didn't spend that much money just to get loads of rice and little bit of meats. I mean come on...yall very stingy with them meats. My husband got the snapper with fluffy white rice and bean sauce and loved it, and I had the fried griot that came with plantains and sweet potato fries. It also came with sides of pikliz, which I had never had and it was so good. We also got the Haitian patties (buttery, flaky pastry with beef or chicken-we tried both) and Haitian marinad (fritters) which were delicious. I visited today with my family and ordered the snapper fillet with mushroom rice and mac au gratin, along with the BBQ beef ribs with mac au gratin and rice and beans. Everything tasted amazing--the flavors were absolutely on point. The snapper was perfectly crispy, and the mushroom rice paired really well with it. The BBQ beef ribs were flavorful, though they didn't have a lot of meat on the bones--but that's pretty typical for beef ribs, so it wasn't a surprise. I've only ordered their Haitian meat patties from their ghost kitchen at Sactown Eats. The pastry itself is hand sized, flaky and perfectly cooked. Beef patty filling is paste like in consistency with an incomparable flavor that I cannot identify. It's well spiced and a little tart but in a very pleasing way. Chicken patty was also lovely and very addictive. Moist filling reminded me of a creamy pot pie. Next time I would like to try their legume stew, griot, and Haitian spaghetti it all looks so unique and tasty. read more

Every different piece was uniquely delicious. I had oxtail which was the right amount of spice in a tomato base I had never tried before. The rice and peas was flavorful and moist. When I got there only one person was there to order I made my order. Went to the restroom about five minutes came back and they hadn't started because of a chicken discrepancy because I wanted all flats they could not do that. By then it was 1215. I had ordered at 12:03 is what the receipt stated. I did not get my food until 1247. And this was lunch. I only ordered a six wing meal. It was very empty in there they had nice music playing, but it was very bland. The service in regards to hospitality was nice. And the food was good except for I don't like the drums of the chicken so those went to the garbage. Not only that my soda and the six wings that I bought for $24 for lunch. I had an assortment of the three types of patties they offered (Jamaican beef, Haitian beef and guava & cheese) were delicious. 10 of us ate there to celebrate our December birthdays. The griot, chicken stew, oxtails and salmon were not bad. The beans and rice were very dry like they were a day or two old, the fish was ice cold in the middle with no seasoning or flavor and was sent back. We order all of the patties to try and they were all very bland and dry. No real ambiance to the restaurant and the women in our group were cold and never took off their coats.
