We ordered here at Happy Take out because we had one of those nights where my girl and I just didn't feel like cooking, so she suggested this Chinese food spot down the street. It's a very small takeout restaurant, and I don't even think there's anywhere to sit and dine in, but that wasn't a problem since we were taking it home anyway. We ordered a couple combo specials. I got the Mongolian beef with chow mein and white rice, while my girl ordered the salt and pepper chicken with chow mein, fried rice. We also got some vegetables with chicken with a side of potstickers. My Mongolian beef with the white rice and chow mein was excellent. It wasn't overly spicy or overpowering with peppers, and the beef paired really well with the rice. The chow mein was a little dry, but not bad enough to ruin the meal. The vegetable chicken was surprisingly really good too. I'm not a huge vegetable person, but the sauce they used on the chicken and vegetables was a great combination. Sadly, the potstickers weren't very good. They just didn't have much flavor and were probably the weakest part of the meal. The salt and pepper chicken my girl ordered was really good as well. I kept eating off her plate. The seasoning on the chicken was so flavorful. This is now my go-to spot whenever we are craving Chinese takeout. I'll definitely be coming back again. Tip: Call ahead and pick up your order instead of ordering there and waiting.

It's what you want in a Chinese takeout only spot. Get the lunch combo or the dinner combo. Good amount of food and super quick.

i have been here before and the place is super small with a small seating area to wait for the food. Doordashed some food and it came super fresh. I ordered honey walnut shrimp and peking spareribs. The spareribs were to die for! It was sweet, tangy, and saucy. The meat is super tender as well. Honey walnut shrimp was also delicious but the star of the show was the spareribs.

Their food is amazing! I've had their chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, egg rolls, and cheese wontons. Every time I get them, the quality and taste are consistent. The service is quick. The staff are nice. Even when I get it delivered, the food is prepared so quickly! I absolutely love this place. The restaurant is small because their food is for takeout only. There's no place to sit inside. You can order at the window or call it in ahead of time. Your order will be ready within 10 to 15 minutes. They do not accept big bills and there's not a restroom available for customers. They do have a small parking lot. You can also park on the street.

Quick and good service at this Chinese food takeout. Lunch combo (Salt and pepper chicken, fried rice, chow mein, egg roll) was great for $10.99. Pre-covid prices and beats traditional fast food any day.

    Honey walnut shrimp

I ordered honey walnut shrimp and it tastes like frozen shrimp because the breading was stale.. then the chicken chowmein had little flavor to it and the beef and broccoli had like 7 pieces of beef in it with lots of broccoli!! I will not be returning here at all. My favorite place is Heng Phat and I only came here today because they were closed.

We ordered take out tonight. My husband said they were nice when picking up and service was great. I was so happy to get my food still steaming hot! I recommend trying this place.

Another successful dinner with Happy Takeout! They accept Uber Eats also. A variety to choose from. The spicy mustard is amazing. Thank you staff

The dinner place is not the same, its smaller portion now. I only got 5 pieces of meat.

I recently decided to try Happy Takeout after reading a Yelp review and wanting to explore some new spots other than my usual go-to places. I ordered the lunch combo, green bean chicken along with sides of chow mein and fried rice. Also ordered the sweet and sour pork lunch combo. First off, the flavors were great. The chow mein, in particular, was perfect--well-cooked, not too greasy, and packed with flavor. However, the fried rice was ok, it was hard and I like to have my fried rice not so hard. That said, the portions were super generous, especially for a lunch combo. You really get a lot of food for what you pay, and it felt like a good value overall. Despite the fried rice being a miss, it's a great take out spot if you're in this area.

Now that's Chinese food! Flavor was on point, portion, price. Only recommendation for the restaurant is to allow 2 entrees instead of just 1. But if you're craving proper Chinese takeout this is the place to go. Bay Area vibes.

So far we have thoroughly enjoyed their shanghai pan-fried buns, steam rice roll w/breadstick, steam golden shrimp rice roll, and crispy pork belly. By 7pm the dining room was busy, many of the parties Asian We ordered a pot of tea, crispy pork, potstickers, roast duck, honey bbq pork and the house noodle dish Yue Huang Chow Fun which had shrimp and chicken. THE PROS: Nice sit down restaurant decor. Large tables and cushy upholstered chairs. Not a strip mall cubicle. They have actually been awarded Michelin Honors three times. Portions were good sized, and flavors were nice. THE CONS: Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed by everything. All of the dishes arrived just warm. Staff never checked on us - not once - until we asked for some to-go boxes. They have two large tvs in the dining room, showing a loop of the restaurant I'm currently sitting in. The music in the dining area must have been on "Slow Girl Ballad" station on Spotify's free tier- as we honestly listed to a 10 min Samsung commercial in between songs - and not at a low volume. BOTTOM LINE: Maybe we were the exception- as there were clearly enough patrons to show it is a popular - but nothing about our experience made us want to come again. I guess we didn't see what the Michelin people saw. PRICE: $80

That said, the food more than made up for it. Our favorite dish by far was the Spicy Calamari with Basil. It's something I'd absolutely come back for--the calamari was tender with a great texture, and the sweet, savory flavors paired perfectly with everything else we ordered. The Garlic Chili Green Beans were another standout. They had great flavor and still retained a nice crunch instead of being overly soft, giving them the perfect stir-fried texture. The Vegetable Chow Fun (with beef added) was decent but a little dry for my taste, so it's probably not something I'd order again. By the end of the meal we were completely stuffed, but we couldn't resist trying the banana cream pie. It looked huge when it arrived, and we honestly didn't think we'd finish it--but it was so delicious that we ended up eating the whole thing. Definitely don't skip dessert! I also appreciated that when I asked for hot sauce, they brought out several different options to try, including what seemed like a garlic chili sauce, chili crisp, hot mustard, and sweet and sour sauce. It was a fun touch that let us customize each bite. The restaurant also has a lot of history and character. We walked in casually without realizing it was a more upscale sit-down restaurant, but it ended up being one of the highlights of our day. If you go, the Spicy Calamari with Basil and the banana cream pie are absolute must-orders!

My goal is to come here during dine downtown week in January to try that menu since I hear it's worth it. For parking, it's either street parking or you can do valet parking in the garage right next door. There is no self parking in the garage. Street parking is self parking. The restaurant itself is like a long, large hallway. When you walk in, your greeted by the host desk. Then you walk towards the back and pass a bunch of booths, tables and the bar area to the right. It's built like a Craftsman style layout. When I was here recently, it was for a friend's birthday and there was a group of 10+ of us. They only do family style food so our group was split into 2 tables and each table ordered their own entrees and meals to eat family style. I was at a table of perks I had just met that night, but we had no issues sharing plates. This may not be for everyone, do you can still order your own entrees, but there won't be much variety if you don't have a lot of people. The food was good. We ordered wallet shrimp, Buddha's delight, the curry noodles/chow mein, garlic green beans and chicken chow mein. All three good was good. I would say it's above average and comparable to Din Tai Fung, but a bit cheaper. I liked the walnut shrimp, garlic green beans and buddhas delight. Service was decent. It could've been better, but could've been worse. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. I'll be back when dine downtown rolls around.

The noodles are really filling, and the dishes we got would be enough food for 2-4 people depending on how hungry you are. We ate the rice rolls right away and then had leftover green beans and beef and mushrooms for lunch today. The green beans were fresh and had a great garlic flavor, without it being too much. The Beef and Mushrooms was great, the beef was tender and flavorful and the mushrooms soaked up all the sauce. There were also green beans in this dish, which was a perfect addition.
