We ordered here at Happy Take out because we had one of those nights where my girl and I just didn't feel like cooking, so she suggested this Chinese food spot down the street. It's a very small takeout restaurant, and I don't even think there's anywhere to sit and dine in, but that wasn't a problem since we were taking it home anyway. We ordered a couple combo specials. I got the Mongolian beef with chow mein and white rice, while my girl ordered the salt and pepper chicken with chow mein, fried rice. We also got some vegetables with chicken with a side of potstickers. My Mongolian beef with the white rice and chow mein was excellent. It wasn't overly spicy or overpowering with peppers, and the beef paired really well with the rice. The chow mein was a little dry, but not bad enough to ruin the meal. The vegetable chicken was surprisingly really good too. I'm not a huge vegetable person, but the sauce they used on the chicken and vegetables was a great combination. Sadly, the potstickers weren't very good. They just didn't have much flavor and were probably the weakest part of the meal. The salt and pepper chicken my girl ordered was really good as well. I kept eating off her plate. The seasoning on the chicken was so flavorful. This is now my go-to spot whenever we are craving Chinese takeout. I'll definitely be coming back again. Their food is amazing! I've had their chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, egg rolls, and cheese wontons. Every time I get them, the quality and taste are consistent. The service is quick. The staff are nice. Even when I get it delivered, the food is prepared so quickly! I absolutely love this place. The restaurant is small because their food is for takeout only. Not going to lie this place frustrates the heck out of me. It's really a 50/50 chance on the food quality in terms of taste and if you get the correct order. Be aware when ordering on the phone REPEAT the order item by item, and have THEM repeat it back AND check your food BEFORE you leave. I made sure to say boneless chicken NOT the wings (since of course they have made that mistake before) the diner combos come with entree, rice, chow mein. You can get fried rice OR white rice. Which is why I asked for fried rice on one order and white rice on the other. Imagine my surprise when I opened both combos and had no chow mein. This was my 13th reason for the day cause come on man. Initially I just said whatever but I was starving and was really looking forward to my meal. I called and said hey I didn't get any chow mein!!! Basically the lady said oh I thought you meant only fried rice and only white rice. For Christ sakes WHY would you think that since you get to choose between rice. Super frustrating. We had been wanting to try this place since we found it on Tik tok. We haven't been able to find a decent Chinese food place since Hing's on Madison Avenue closed some years ago. So we drove out from Elk grove. It wasn't hard to find. When we got there we searched the menu. We found 5 items to order. The girl who took our order was nice. We ordered orange chicken, Mongolian Beef, Szechuan Chicken, beef chow mean, and broccoli beef. It was ready in 10ish minutes which was fast. When we got home, we realized that it had leaked all over the carpet in our car because they stacked 5 trays of food in ONE bag instead of giving us two bags. Now, we have to figure out a way to clean that up. We took the food inside and had to immediately transfer the food to other dishes. We also had to sift through to find the Styrofoam pieces, which was extremely annoying. Especially after spending $70ish dollars. The food was good but the way it was packaged put a sour taste in our mouths. This place seems extremely busy, they could have afforded to give us an extra bag. The portion is large enough to spread it across two meals or share with a friend. If you are feeding several people I suggest grabbing a carb such as the beef chow fun or chicken chow mein, then pick a few entries that your heart desires. If you have a party, Happy Takeout got your back. I call in a day ahead to schedule my pick up. Each party tray is around $45+/- and is equivalent to 5 entrees. Hot Garlic Fish - This is a dish that surprised me. The fish is fried then coated in their hot garlic sauce and tossed with veggies. My favorite of the "hot garlic" entrees and my wife's overall favorite. Broccoli Beef/Green Bean Beef - Gotta have some veggies and these are Chinese takeout staples. The other sauced fried meat dishes such as general chicken and sweet and sour pork hold up decently and is what my father in law usually gets. When it comes down to it, you do you.
