Came here for lunch from work and boy was I so excited. The food was so filling and a great bang for my buck. for $15 this food was filling and ample. the fries were fresh and the fish was well seasoned and a great portion size. I will definitely be back

First time ordering from here and I was thoroughly pleased. The food is cooked well and very tasty!! They have a large menu. Fish, chicken, shrimp, Crab cake, lobster tails, Gumbo and Jambalaya and more. All orders are served with fries and they were delicious too. We ordered, catfish, scallops, and fried string beans...yum. My grandson ordered a build your own, which consisted of shrimp, chicken wings and catfish. He ordered a side of mac&cheese, said that was okay, not sure if it was homemade. They have waffles and large selection of desserts. Service was quick and efficient. Would definitely go there again when I return to this area. If you want some good seafood, give Ray's a try. You won't be disappointed. Sorry, didn't take pictures of the food...to busy eating. My only complaint is they only take phone orders through AI... not a fan of that.

Crispy perfection every time never disappoints. Homemade and fried desserts seal the deal. A true 916 gem.

This place is equivalent to what Taco Bell is to Mexican Food. The food tastes like people who don't know authentic southern flavors, created the recipes. I wanted this place to be good because soul food restaurants in Sacramento with authentic southern flavors and dishes are nil to none but it failed to the highest degree. When I walked in the place was nice and clean. I ordered catfish, cornbread, potato salad and red beans and rice. The catfish was pretty basic 4/10. The batter was a thin blend of cornmeal and flour but mainly flour. It did not have enough cornmeal in the crust in my opinion. The flavor was decent and it's hard to describe but it's like if someone who didn't really know southern flavors attempted to fry catfish. The red beans and rice 0/10- HARD absolutely NOT! They were terrible. I've never had red beans and rice at a restaurant that tasted so un southern before. They tasted like someone tried to make red beans and rice and failed. The potato salad was another 0/10. It legit tasted like Safeway store-bought potato salad actually it was even worse it was more like the worst flavored pre-packaged potato salad found in grocery stores. The potato salad at the deli counters in grocery stores tasted better than this one. The cornbread was another 0/10. Jiffy cornbread tastes better. The cornbread was too moist and sticky and tasted like there was not enough cornmeal and too much sugar in the batter. I knew to skip all the desserts because there was way too many desserts for any of them to be a quality and I am glad I did. I ate some of th catfish but threw away the sides and cornbread because they were so terrible tasting. I do not recommend this place if you're looking for AUTHENTIC southern flavors.

The fish and shrimp was good as usual but the fried zucchini has some flavoring on it that enhances it all together. The service is always good here very polite employees here. The cutout stand up of Ray is apart of the relaxing ambiance here a lot of pictures of different rappers are posted throughout the restaurant. As you see from my previous reviews this is one of my first stops in Sacramento when I come in town.

My fried fish craving was satisfied! I ordered Basa fried hard and got exactly that. The fries were also nice and fresh! I will be back!

I decided to give this place another try since I was craving catfish nuggets. I walked in and it was busy. I grabbed a menu to decide what to order. The girl behind the counter greeted me with a smile and answered any question I had. I ordered 2 large catfish nuggets, side of hush puppies, fried corn cob and red beans and rice. I also grabbed a piece of cake. The food was ready in a decent time and was hot when I got home. I was missing the red beans and rice, but was able to go back and get it. Overall, the nuggets were good, not very seasoned, but crunchy. The fried corn cob was not what I expected, it was breaded, then fried. Not a fan of that and thought it didn't need the breading. Hush puppies were good, the cake, red beans and rice were just ok.

It has been a while since I have been to Ray's, and let me tell you.....it has went down hill. To start, the young lady behind the counter was not in a good mood. She said it was because they were busy. There was three people in the restaurant before me, they were served, and the restaurant just opened (I was there 25min after opening). I asked if the crab cakes was made with real crab....she lied. The jambalaya was old and burnt (I took the shrimp out to give to the cat, it was rejected. I am afraid to try anything else that I bought today and I spent about $70 dollars. My mouth still has the burnt taste just from sampling it. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Their customer service and food use to be outstanding......... The only thing that was good was the fries ***Update*** I took what didn't spill out of the Seafood Gumbo out of the trash and decided to take a picture of it. Everything was bad. I asked for a Basa Fish sandwich, lightly fried look at the picture. They even tried to camouflage the fish. I paid almost $70. for burnt hard, old food served with an attitude on top.

The food at rays is finger licking good. I enjoy the fried fish, chicken and waffles, French fries, greens, fried corn and more. It's good to come by yourself or with a group. It can get busy during lunch. You can order ahead for pickup if you want to skip the line. It's a small cozy restaurant with TVs and many pictures to view while you wait. I haven't had a good dessert from there yet which is from an outside bakery. The staff are kind and orders don't take long.

We got the "special" buy one pound get the next pound free so we did shrimp. We got shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, and dungeness crab with the special blend in one bag. The hook and reel special blend was honestly pretty gross it was sweet, Smokey and not very buttery or salty at all. We asked for lemon pepper and extra butter to put inside(which was an extra charge) it made it a little better but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The garlic noodles were really good they had a soy sauce flavor, garlicky and cheesy. The price was pretty expensive considering I've spent $30 less elsewhere. Here at hook & reel I spent $96 The service was good. She was very kind and helpful but also wasn't very attentive. The restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. Overall I wouldn't come back and I recommend going to Captain crab in Elk Grove it is so much better tasting and cheaper!!

SIDE NOTE-to anyone going there 5 or more party, it's automatic 15% gratuity. They will not make any changes for you there if you try to apply logic. Guess you have to pretend to walk in the door to order or call in while you're sitting down to place the order to-go to avoid it being part of the total bill. Hopefully they change that system because why would you charge to-go orders as part of the dine-in to rack up the gratuity tip for an under par service!? When I questioned the server how does it make sense and she said yes we can cancel the order and call it in rather than just taking the initiative to separate the orders. Service was low, when greeted we were greeted promptly but there were no smiles from anyone. I hope they all do enjoy working there! We started with one server and then it jumped to another server which I did see someone else experienced also, so maybe this is the norm for the location? This was many of our groups first time here and Alex started of same way with a slight smile, but he took the time to understand our confusion and began to lighten up once he understood our order and we understood the restaurant and he was a great waiter for the evening since. Thank you for putting up with our confusion! Food- chicken wings I would come back for they are definitely my top 3 I've had from a restaurant. Myself personally I am actually not a big fan with seafood boils because I do not care for all that seasoning, so coming I was quite worried I wouldn't eat anything. Well I caved in to try it with the crawdads, and to my surprise, it is definitely lightly seasoned so I did end up liking it. So, if you do truly like a seafood boil with seasonings and kick, I wouldn't recommend this place as a go to for others, but for myself if I have a craving I will grab my crawdads here. Overall the place is crowded and busy, it's in a busy shopping center. There are a lot of people working here at one time, it just feels that no one is thrilled to work there. We went towards their late shift to closing and to be quite honest I got understand that why they may have that feeling. The manager pulled out flashlights while we were eating to inspect the window cleanliness? Great job with the cleaning, but also not the right time. Also, micro managing the team's cleaning while standing at the counter and pointing at places they are missing (we should not see the from our seats). She definitely needs to work on Leadership, not manager, skillsets, and have her participate and guide team members rather then making it look as if she is looking down on her team. This can change the atmosphere for team engagement, so the greetings are more welcoming and engaging to customers.

10 Years of Marriage & a Great Family Dinner!…read more Last night, my wife Sokny and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with our family, and we couldn't have asked for a better evening! We had dinner at Seafood House Quan Oc, and everyone definitely came hungry! Sokny and our daughter Skylie went with the seafood boil, and it was excellent! The seafood came with a delicious curry-style sauce that had so much flavor. Definitely one of the highlights of the meal! Our niece Maddie and youngest daughter Laila enjoyed the kids' chicken wings and fries, and Maddie also really liked the eggrolls. We shared an appetizer of crab cheese wontons, which were another hit. My mom had the garlic noodles, while I went with the fish fillet with rice and salad -- and it was all great! For drinks, Skylie had a Thai tea, while Sokny tried a Black Superman and a lemon drop. The lemon drop was unfortunately more lemonade than vodka, but hey... we still had a good laugh about it! Overall, the food was fantastic, but what made the night special was simply being together as a family. 10 years of marriage, lots of memories, and many more to come. Thank you to my beautiful wife for sharing this journey with me. I love you, Sokny!

The restaurant has that warm and lively Vietnamese feeling that is hard to find outside of Vietnam. The food was absolutely amazing. Every dish came out fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. You can tell the chefs take pride in their cooking because every bite tasted authentic and reminded us of family meals and gatherings back home. The portions were generous, and the ingredients tasted fresh and high quality. Whether you come for appetizers, seafood, grilled dishes, or traditional Vietnamese favorites, there is something for everyone to enjoy. One of the highlights of the evening was the karaoke. The sound system was excellent, the song selection was great, and it created such a fun environment for families and friends to enjoy together. There is something special about eating delicious food, singing your favorite songs, laughing with loved ones, and making memories that will last a lifetime. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout the night. They made sure we were comfortable and checked on us regularly even when the restaurant became busy. Their hospitality added even more to the experience. If you are looking for a place that truly captures the feeling of Vietnam with authentic food, great service, and fun karaoke entertainment, this is definitely the place to visit. It is more than just a restaurant÷it feels like a little piece of Vietnam right here in America. We will absolutely be coming back and bringing more family and friends with us next time. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food, good music, and great company!

For whatever reason I'm sure is probably because I went there late at night, the Cabbage wasn't tasting like I normally like it to be. It was really soggy, not crisp and very salty. Yet this is just one night of tasting It. Whenever I eat It is VERY, VERY, VERY DELICIOUS. So my suggestion would be don't go there to eat cabbage an hour before closing. Go during the day and you will be very satisfied. THE SERVICE WAS AWESOME. THE YOUNG LADY WAS VERY FRIENDLY, PERSONABLE WITH THE WONDERFUL SMILE ON HER FACE AND HAPPY TO HELP ME. My visit was Friday May 8, 2026 about an hour before closing.

We called to check about the lunch special and if we didn't really want this place we would have said hang up and tried another place. Once we received our food, the lady didn't add any bbq sauce and the potato salad was warm. Trip two and Three: 4/25 and 4/28 the lady with the locs is amazing and I wish I interacted with her from the beginning. After the initial interaction two weeks ago I probably would have never returned however after randomly seeing the offering on Too Good To Go App the nice lady at the store was phenomenal with her service. We had ribs each time and while I was irked the first order didn't include any I'm definitely not a drench my meat gal either. Hoping next time I get something other than BBQ but who knows what I will try next. I'm sure I'll return and the next time I will get her name
