I love this place!! I feel this place is better than the Islitas on 24th street the menu is slightly different but the concept is the same. I've been here a few times and each time the food has been EXCEPTIONAL, the service is not always consistent and thats the reason i took one star away from my review. I've the garlic shrimp here before and those were straight FUEGO!! The shrimp were cooked perfectly cooked and really garlicky, they served it with some bomb ass refried beans, and a salad. Ive also had the seafood combo "Casuelita" OMG!! Its soo good, its like a Ceviche with shrimp, octopus, oysters, and another type of sea food but i forget whats its called, it has slices of onion, cucumber, and tomatoes. The only thing i dont like about the casuelitas is that the produce is not small diced and its pretty spicy they top it off wit fresh avocados. I prefer to get the casuelita to go and enjoy it at home. They have plenty of parking outside, its pretty busy on the weekends, but the food is really good, i'll keep coming back thats for sure. This place was literally empty when we walked in, so i was a little skeptical on whether or not we should eat here. The whole place just smelled like cleaning solution, they probably should have opened a window or two or left the door open to air out some of the smell, so i was already put off by the place. My cousin convinced me to stay so we took a seat and we were promptly greeted by our server. We were given some sort of seafood ceviche/salsa as an appetizer along with tostadas and crackers to start. I ordered the camarones a la kora, my cousin got the camarones a la crema. Both dishes came with rice, beans, and a salad along with tortillas on the side. I enjoyed the flavor of my shrimp. It was perfectly spicy and sour but just a little over cooked. Parts seemed a bit chewy but it was easily something I could overlook. My cousins dish almost tasted like fettuccini sauce. It was covered in the cream sauce, and you had to fish out the shimp hiding inside. This place definitely didn't skimp out on their portion sizes. read more

We went on a Saturday night with a group of 8 + 4 kids. I think that due to their location, they don't have a lot of customers, but, their food definitely warrants a lot more customers! They are located off Florin Rd near Stockton Blvd just behind Viet Ha. There's no big sign so even as you pull into the parking lot, the restaurant is not very noticeable. But man, if you want seafood, this is the place. In fact, if you look on their menu, it's ALL seafood. You won't find your typical beef/chicken tacos, enchiladas, or fajitas. Everything that we ordered were delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly with lots of flavor. We ordered the whole fried red snapper and the tilapia and both came out crispy on the outside and not dry on the inside. The Al ajo (garlic prawns) is a must... bit oily but hey, if it wasn't oily, it probably would taste as good! The Molcajete de Marisco comes out in a hot clay pot and I kid you not, that clay pot kept the food hot for over an hour! Like I said, they were not busy, even for a Saturday night, so everything came out quick. They have kid's meal so it's a very family oriented place. The portions are family size. We ordered two fish, 2 kid's meals, drinks for 8, and 5 entrees and the total came to about $200 (plus tips) or about $25/pp...that's not bad for seafood! It's a modest place, so don't be thrown off by the decor, paper plates, forks or the poorly washed silverware. read more

First off they give you ceviche and chips complimentary. The ceviche was the right amount of seafood to vegetable proportion and add lime! The more the better!! So already impressed. If you know me I almost never eat anything with vegetables. Very picky lol My bf ordered the shrimp cocktail. Dude that thing was bigger than his head. And he has a big head. He loved it. I had The mojarra (tilapia) which was cooked to perfection. Ame with salad which was also pretty good as far as vegetables are concerned. Also rice, beans, and tortillas. Did I mention how quick it was? The food came out in less than 10 minutes. I know it was empty but still I've gone to fast food restaurants and waited longer. Service was great.. love when you can talk Spanglish. So hard to find a good plate of actual fish So I'm really happy for my new discovery. No biggie, I'm not one to sweat the small things. For my trouble she gave me ceviche, intended for dine-in customers. I thought that was cool. Food came out steaming hot, I loved it. Now this is my go to for dinner at least 3 times a week. I highly recommend this place. The Michelada was really good and spicy. I like that they give you ceviche and tostadas while you wait for you food. Not a lot of places do that. As for my food had some ceviche tostadas that were huge with a big portion. I also ordered agua chile that was really good. We also had camarones a la kora. And they were DELICIOUS !! The missus and I had lunch here for just the 2nd time (been meaning to return sooner, but you know how life can be...), and we each tried something different from our first visit. The food arrived very promptly, first the 1/2 dozen "ostiones preparados" (on a half shell with bits of shrimp, ceviche, and octopus), then the "ala crema" (creamy white sauce shrimp plate) for her, and the "al ajo" (garlic shrimp plate) for me, all of which were as tasty as the first time we were here! I can't emphasize enough how courteous and prompt the service is here, not just from the person who waited on us, but others working here as well. And I have to thank them for having the mood music (south of the border style) set at a MUCH more pleasing volume compared to the first time we were here - it was JUST right! Never underestimate a local neighborhood, hole-in-the-wall, off the beaten path restaurant! That's the lesson Joe K and I have come to learn when exploring the numerous eateries along and around Stockton Blvd. On a late Sunday afternoon, we were driving around getting hungry and had a hankering for either Mexican food or seafood. We decided that we didn't feel like dining someplace crowded, so I scanned other places on the Yelp app and surprisingly noticed another restaurant with a similar name on a residential street I wouldn't have suspected a restaurant would be. In fact, it was a lot closer to my house and turned out to be just behind one of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants - Viet-Ha! As we pulled into the rather plain, strip mall looking parking lot, I kept wondering if this place was going to be as good as Las Islitas. Then when we proceeded to enter the establishment, a loud blasting of Mexican music almost pushed us back out the door! Immediately, I started to feel negative about coming here and wished we had chosen some place else! We were greeted by a friendly waitress who led us to a table near the front window and then handed us menus. As we tried to concentrate on what to order, I noticed that the food here seemed to compare to the other place we liked. We were able to communicate our orders over the extremely loud music by pointing to the selections on the menu. I ordered Empanizados (fried breaded shrimp) which came with refried beans, rice, a salad and two sauces. Joe got Alambritos which was a shrimp mixture with a creamy cheese sauce. It too, came with beans, rice and salad. As we waited for our food, you are given some delicious appetizers at no extra charge. A basket loaded with whole tostadas, lime wedges, crackers and hot sauces. The tostadas were lightly salted and crunchy, perfect for breaking them into bite size chips. A bowl of cerviche comes with it, that was very tasty and had an almost lemony bite to it. After about 15 mins, my negative attitude relaxed, and I actually got adjusted to the loud musica. Joe's ice tea came in a giant mug, and then our meals arrived looking and tasting ever so delicious! Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection, making it a very satisfying dinner! The exterior of this place may not be an attention grabber, but it's the interior that steals the show. Clean atmosphere, good food and service. (Ear plugs are not included though)! I just ate some of the best Mexican Seafood I have ever eaten outside of Baja California, Puerto Vallarta, or Mazatlan. This little hole in the wall is on Lindale Drive in South Sacramento of all locations. If they were located in Midtown there would be a line out the door of people waiting to get in. IMO This is Gourmet Mexican seafood! Shhh don't tell them I want to keep them in my neighborhood! I almost forgot I absolutely love Mitchiladas and there's are right up their with the best. The portions and quality are not that great either. I was really disappointed with the A La Kora shrimp. It was basically drowned in lime juice with minimal spice. Review based solely on the service. I was really excited to try this place out bc of the reviews. I felt like my business wasn't needed for this place. I don't know if the workers didn't really speak English so they felt intimidated to approach us or whatever their reason was. I'm clearly the only Asian with my date at this restaurant. There were a few other groups of people that came after us and got their menus and everything before we did. And believe me. We're hard to miss. We were sitting in the middle of the room, not at the booths. Then we started looking for a different place to eat after about 8-10 mins of sitting there looking stupid. Finally when we got our menu it was a little too late. We already found another place. We almost gave them a second chance by glancing at the menu. But really? What waitress or waiter just drops menus off at your table without even greeting? So we left. No thanks. We'll take our business elsewhere. read more
