Reasonably priced for the food that youre getting, including their grilled chicken wings made to order. Heaping portions for their dinners, as you get your protein + rice and peas...and two additional sides! Loved the seasoning of the jerk (not too spicy). Mac is decent. Yam was good to me, but too sweet for my friend. Greens were good to my friend, but needed more spice to me. Overall, sides are solid, but may need to be doctored to one's preference. The oxtail tamales, highlighted in the social post I saw, was my friend's favorite, saying they were filling, not dried out, and seasoned well. It looks like there are two profiles for this location. So, I'll leave my review on both. I am so reluctant to try new places when I have my already go to spot. However, today I decided to try a different jerk spot. The food was honestly just alright. I kept looking for the WOW factor but just didnt get it. I ordered a 6 wing dinner with two sides. The wings were a little salty and taste more like American bbq chicken rather than jerk. The jerk sauce taste like a pre-packaged marinade. The cabbage was also salty with a slimy, greasy texture to it. The Mac and cheese was STELLAR! The vibe is a nice spot to drop in for spontaneous lunch. They do have adequate seating to accommodate dining in. The restaurant also appeared nice and clean. The customer service was good, friendly and welcoming. I even met the owner, "Antwon." I placed a catering order in February for my best friend's baby shower, including Jerk Chicken, Mac and Cheese, and Greens for 40 guests. When we opened the trays at the event, there was NO chicken, just sides. We had to scramble mid event to find chicken fingers from a nearby spot, spending more money and dealing with unnecessary stress. While the cost of the chicken was refunded, it didn't cover the inconvenience, added expense, or embarrassment. For a catering order at a major event, accuracy is critical. I was excited when CJP moved from 79th to 87th bc it was more convenient, but since then the customer service has gone down. The food is still good...occasionally it's been dry but still solid enough. I wanted some turkey tips really bad so I ordered here thru Door Dash. The order took longer than expected and the dasher waited about 20 minutes after arriving for my order. I ordered turkey tips (comes with red beans and rice), mac n cheese and cabbage. The food was pretty good. However the turkey tips were insanely spicy. I couldn't eat more than 5 pieces. I was tired of cooking and had a taste for jerk chicken. I'm not sure if the regular cook was having a bad day or a sub was working that day because the Jerk Chicken was seasoned well and the jerk sauce was flavorful but unfortunately my wing dinner was not completely cooked. You could still see the blood inside the wing when you broke it open no, no, no that's not acceptable. This was disappointing because the red beans and rice were tasty and so were the yams. But and yes there is yet another but .... the Mac and cheese was bland.....no seasoning and not cheesy and the collard greens were bland, they lacked flavor. There is a mixed bag of reviews on Yelp many love it and many give it a failing grade so maybe they lack consistency on how the food is cooked. I'm going to give them another opportunity to redeem themselves so I will be back to try the jerk tacos and the jerk pizza. Am I a glutton for punishment only time will tell. I was so excited to have a caribbean place come to our neighborhood. First time visiting this spot and I am soooo disappointed. It was costly-ok fine but at least give me eatable food. The staff are decent and the cooks definitely vibe out in the back while they work and I love that for them lol. Their food is really good. I recommend the dark dinner with plantains and cabbage. Their jerk sauce is really good and flavorful but they only give 2 and its about 59¢/small cup after that. My only minor issue is they close about 10 or 15 mins before they are considered technically closed (says they close at 9 but locks the door and cuts phones at 8:45) so if you're ordering during their last hour of operation get there 20 mins before to be safe. read more

Asked for nearby recommendations and this was one of the options. Love that they have an online ordering system and even lunch specials before 3pm. Luckily I made the cutoff time and didn't have to commit to a dinner entree. I got the jerk chicken lunch special which came with rice & peas with the option of an additional side. I opted for cabbage and got another small side of mac and cheese. The order was ready when I picked it up and it was waiting in, what looked like, a standing heated container. It was pretty warm so that was appreciated. The chicken was good and had flavor but not a lot of spice. I was so hungry, I didn't realize until after the fact that there was a tiny container of sauce. The cabbage was cooked well and tasted okay but the rice & peas were super salty. I ate a couple fork fulls but definitely couldn't eat more. So glad I got the mac because it wasn't bad to not be baked. We called in our order first before heading there after reading the yelp reviews, and I am glad we did because when we got there, we still had to wait 20 minutes for our food, after it took us 20 minutes to get there. 15 of the minutes were spent with the customer in front of us and the cashier--they were going back and forth about who said what in terms of what was ordered. Walked in and noticed there's not much dining room and IT'S FREEZING IN HERE, I THINK I WAS FROST BITTEN!!! Food burnt for the 2nd time.... Shame on me!!! This place used to stay packed with customers. I lived right up the street from this location a little over 2 years ago, and the food was always good, although it came with a moderate to long wait in line. These days, it's easy to get in and out but the meat is all burnt up. Plates are too costly to have burnt meat at any jerk food restaurant if you ask me... My brother warned us last week that his chicken was burnt and rough, but we didn't listen... Low and behold, we pick up 2 oxtails dinner, rush home without even checking the bag(shame on us), get home ready to eat, and the oxtails tastes scraped off the bottom of the pot crispy!!! What a waste... I ate what I could, or rather what I needed to kill my hunger pains.... But the meat messed up the entire dinner for both plates. The macaroni was good, the cabbage was good. I think the meat would've been good as far as seasoning, but it's hard to tell through the crust!!! I will admit that Uncle Joe's is usually my first choice for Jerk chicken. But the problem for me with Uncle Joe's is finding a parking space. Well, today I drove around the block twice trying to find a parking space, with no luck. So, I decided to give Caribbean Jerk a try. I had my doubts but I was pleasantly surprised.
