There was only one attendant from Caribe at the funeral so she asked some of the family members to bring the casket into the sanctuary (never seen that before, must be a Brooklyn thing). She was so rude yelling instructions at us the whole time. When we entered the sanctuary she was yelling so loud EVERYONE already seated turned around to see what all the commotion was. Sooo beyond rude, disrespectful and uncaring. When the service was concluding, the pastor was looking for her, so that they can do their part.She was nowhere to be found. So he started doing the final viewing, halfway through, she comes running up and trying to shush everybody so that she could read some random poem, by that time, no one was interested in hearing anything she had to say. While the pallbearers were moving the casket out of the sanctuary, she told the daughter of the decease to move out of the way, not excuse me but, move out of the way. Losing a loved one is one of the most difficult times in a person's life, and we expected compassion, empathy, and professionalism. Unfortunately, we did not receive that. Disgraceful Experience with Caribe Funeral Home - Do Not Trust Them With Your Loved Ones I am writing this review with deep sadness and frustration. Caribe Funeral Home handled my late uncle's body, and their complete lack of professionalism and care turned an already painful time into a nightmare for our family. My uncle's wife was given only two hours to view his body before the public viewing and funeral service. This limited time was nowhere near sufficient to properly assess his appearance or request necessary changes. His face looked horrible poorly prepared, with no attention to detail. There was no opportunity to ask for improvements because of how rushed and restricted everything was. To make matters worse, his body had to be transported to a church for the service, and by the time we arrived, his mouth had already started to open. It was disturbing, heartbreaking, and completely unacceptable. No family should have to witness that kind of deterioration during a final farewell. But it didn't stop there. When his body arrived in Guyana, where he was to be laid to rest, his mouth was completely wide open. The presentation was absolutely shocking. We had to pay additional money to the funeral home in Guyana to completely redo his mouth and face. They did an excellent job far better than anything Caribe provided proving that proper care was possible but simply not given. Caribe Funeral Home's handling of my uncle was negligent and disrespectful. Their actions caused unnecessary emotional pain and financial burden for our family. Sadly, what we experienced instead was an utterly unacceptable series of failures that only deepened our pain. When trying to resolve yet another issue regarding the rented venue for the repass with upper management with a man named Bob, he was dismissive, argumentative, unapologetic and blatantly disrespectful. If he was to be considered upper management with this type of behavior, what is to be expected by staff? From the beginning, we were met with dismissive and unkind employees who lacked the empathy and warmth that should be foundational in this industry. It was clear that customer service and sensitivity were not a priority for most of the staff. Rather than feeling supported, we were made to feel like an inconvenience at a time when we needed guidance and compassion the most. There were numerous miscommunications, which caused confusion and stress at every step of the planning process. The most shocking of these was the change in service times on the very day of the burial--a change we were never informed about. This is not a minor oversight. It is a deeply disrespectful and disruptive error, especially during such a sacred moment of farewell. As if the logistical missteps weren't enough, the actual service was marred by an absent pianist, despite us having paid for musical accompaniment. The pianist left in the middle of the service to attend another event, leaving us without the element of comfort and celebration we had carefully arranged in honor of our loved one. This lack of commitment was not only unprofessional--it was heartbreaking. What's more, the final viewing of our loved one was tarnished by an inexcusable error: makeup had spilled onto the white dress she was wearing. This dress was chosen with love and intention to reflect her purity, grace, and dignity. To see it stained due to carelessness was both distressing and infuriating. In the midst of all this, there was one employee named Patrick who told us that he was one of the owners, but later shared that he was not, was the only person who showed kindness, consistency, and genuine care throughout our experience. We are immensely grateful for this person's presence and professionalism, and we sincerely hope their efforts are recognized by the management. Unfortunately, one good individual cannot make up for the overwhelming lack of compassion shown by the rest of the team. Given our history with Caribe Funeral Home and the depth of our grief, we hoped to be treated with the utmost respect and care. Instead, we were met with indifference, mismanagement, and emotional negligence. This most recent experience has left us deeply wounded and dissatisfied, and it is highly unlikely we will ever return should the need arise again in the future. If I could give 0 stars I would. The walls are so thin and the people having a service next to us were playing music that we could hear. We asked the people who work here more than once to tell them to turn the music down out of respect for the other people grieving and having a wake as well and they did absolutely nothing. The sound system was also terrible so people trying to speak through the microphone we could hear a word anyone was saying. For the amount of money we paid to have a peaceful service for our family member, there was nothing peaceful about this service. There were also people outside of the room where we were having our service talking so loud like it was a party. INSTEAD, they stole from our Deaceased loved one. We purchased a Pandora Bracelet to symbolize our Love for her. We each added a special charm to show our Love. They were put in a strategic order by one of our Sister/Friends. The Funeral home had the audacity to return make up and costume Jewelry, with NO PANDORA BRACELET. When first asked about it, they denied having the Bracelet. Because we were so persistent, the truth revealed. We were then told that one of the workers removed it and had it seperate. Why? As they looked around and they could not find it. We were later told the worker will be there with the Bracelet at 6pm. When the Deceased son finally received the Bracelet it was missing a total of 6 charms off of the Bracelet. HOW DARE YOUUUUU!! Wish I could take the 1 star back, but it won't let me. read more

The $1,000 Pandora bracelet was missing! The family was given numerous excuses about the whereabouts of the bracelet. Finally they contacted an employee who said she removed the bracelet from our loved one, but the bracelet was not on the premises. Thr family was told to return in 3 days, when we did on 7-1-24 we were given a braclet that was missing at least 6 charms! I attended a funeral on February 1st and by far this establishment was the worst I've ever attended. I would not even give it a star that's how bad it was. There was no control and everyone was doing as please. There was a service next door and it was so loud that the attending minister had to stop and walk over to the other services to ask that they tone it down. No sound proof preparation at all. The noise level in the hallway was another topic. I spoke a woman after services to complaint and her attitude was she is not saying anything for fear of her life. I came home and wrote a former complaint on February 2nd and still no response. I noticed on their website that they rank themselves as top notch which is so very far from the truth. I'm no funeral service expert but this place really does a terrible job. They offered very little to no help leading up to the service, then were extremely unprofessional on the day of the service and disorganized. All interactions with the support staff were rude, insensitive and very uncaring. 1. The team was extremely unhelpful - they were annoyed when asked for help and they were very insensitive to the nature of the day. They were asked to center the cross and flowers on the casket - but were very unwilling to do so. 2. The environment - it was very loud from the neighboring service, the walls are sooo thin and the chairs were very creaky and old. 3. Left the casket open - the family requested a closed-casket service, they opened the casket for the family to say their final goodbyes (an hour before the service was intended to start) and the team left it open after the final goodbyes and people were arriving and starting to gather around the casket - which was exactly what the family did not want. 4. Technology issues all through the service - the service started almost one hour late because the team could not find the remote for their television. they requested that the family provide all the music and videos that they would like on a flash drive and stated that they would follow the program and facilitate the music and videos in that order. they fumbled at every point where the flash drive media should have been used and were very unprofessional and unprepared - at one point during the service, they even asked the deceased's sister to take the keyboard and figure out how to get the song to play - EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. 5. The actual sermon was in poor taste - the residing pastor spent over 30 minutes talking about himself and spent very little to almost no time talking about the deceased. prior to his sermon, he very rudely insisted that "the deceased is dead! we've already talked about his life" and told goers that they had 2 minutes each to talk. During his thirty minute monologue, he shared so many details about his own life and prowess as a preacher, it felt like an advertisement for himself rather than the funeral service of a loved one. He clearly did not spend anytime getting to know the deceased through their family and it was so evident through his sermon. He denied the validity of human evolution, shared the definition of the word lightyear and provided the recent news that a planet has been discovered over 2.4 billion lightyears away. He even said that it is not true that a parent should not have to bury their child. He was overall very tone deaf and self-interested. I'm not the type to write reviews but this entire experience felt like a prank and it really was not a great experience for the family. If your choices are between here and nothing - do nothing and save your time and money. read more

If I could rate this place a zero I would. This is one of the worst services anyone could receive as a costumer. They agreed to ship the body overseas. They didn't ship the body until a week later. I only found out the body didn't reach the agreed upon location until the funeral parlor overseas contacted me asking for the location of the body. Come to find out, the body was shipped to the wrong location by Caribe. The body was found in another parish hours away from the agreed upon location. Now I have to pay extra money to move the body to the correct location. When I contacted Caribe about their mistake they didn't acknowledged their mistake, apologize or offer to pay to move the body to the correct location. The service was held on 12/16 from 4-6pm. After the service started, no one came to close the casket until prompted to do so. When the employees entered the service room, they were unsympathetically when lowering the body and closing the coffin - totally unprofessional. I would also like to remind people this is the funeral home that was on the news during lockdown for having bodies pile up on the street causing an awful smell. Save yourself the addition trouble during your grief and go to another funeral parlor with better service. read more

I had my mother's funeral service yesterday (December 16, 2023) from 2 - 6 PM, at this funeral home and the service was nothing less than unprofessional from the time we arrived at about 1:30 PM; from the parking, audio, and other customary staff support. The staff (receptionist at the front entrance - wearing a black hat) was very rude, un-empathetic, and seem annoyed when asked for assistance. I totally understand why they ask for the full payment upfront, because they would have a hard time recouping the fees from their customers, if they had to experience the same level of service my family and I endured. The service was scheduled to start at 3:30 PM, and no one came to close the casket until prompted to do so, and when they entered the service room, they were unsympathetically when lowering my mom's body and closing the coffin - totally unprofessional. My grandma's funeral was today. Yesterday, we had her funeral at caribe funeral home. It was really nice. There was plenty of flowers in the hallway when you come in it's perfect if you want a group pic. The only thing I didn't like was inside the room the chairs felt like it was way too close to each other. They were nice enough to open the other side for us. Plenty of people came. They have this i don't care attitude and it is sad because many people use this as a a main source. This establishment deserves no stars at all. Recently used the funeral home after the sudden death of my aunt. The in office staff has no manners at all there are rude and just do not care. The hall we used across the street was dirty and my family had to set up the hall ourselves at 3pm for a service that was supposed to start at 4pm. Make sure you ask all questions and get everything in writing before paying them. They would not let my family attend the cremation. My poor deceased aunt clothes and hair was not fixed properly and the lady in the office told me that I should fix it myself. No one came over to the hall after the service to help us or ask if we needed any assistance and it looks like the entire staff's only words are "I DON'T KNOW" The most upsetting and disastrous experience I have ever had with a funeral home. But when I called Caribe and Briana took care of me. Explained the process prices it a one stop shop. They pick up your family member the same day you make arrangements. Caribe have repass halls limousine sprinters flowers casket they had my brother looking right. He look like he was sleeping. The price is reasonable and you get quality service even if I asked for help from someone who was doing something they helped or got the right person. I had a good experience there. The evening I was there, there was like three other memorials ocurring but they had the name of the deceased on the outside of the rooms. Having passed by this funeral home numerous times, I forgot it even existed and didn't even give it a second thought. With my grandfather's passing, I had to perform the ceremonial last rites as soon as possible, so I inquired and visited the usual funeral homes that I was most familiar with. Over the phone they claimed to have the availability I needed but when I arrived in person it was a different story. Stranded with the clock winding down, I was running out of places to look. A family/friend also recommended Caribe and since my options were limited, I figured it wouldn't hurt to check it out. I decided to pay them a visit out and this place was actually my savior. Boris and his staff went above and beyond their duty to accommodate to my family's demands. They were very kind, courteous, professional, and hospitable in this difficult time. I needed to have the body cremated right away, and despite the long line before us at the crematorium, they pulled each and every string they could to make it happen. This parlor is very spacious and there is more than enough ample seating. Elegant and modern, this funeral home is definitely up to date. Very impressed with the ability for them to accommodate to our ceremonial last rites within the blink of an eye, without any hesitation. There is a parking lot across the street and there is even valet parking when the lot has reached its capacity. Although with 3 simultaneous funerals and roughly 350 guests in the room I booked, things were of course hectic but the staff here had it under control. If the need arises again for these uneventful occasions, Caribe is definitely on my list. My grandfather's funeral went as smoothly as it could have gone and it was partially due to Caribe Funeral Home. It goes to show that there is truly a God. read more

Typically a funeral home is very specific with details. It's all about the details, beautiful curtains are expected. The drapery over the deceased is expected to be clean and pressed, the drapery around the bottom of the coffin is expected to be attached properly and not hanging off, and workers are all dressed in suits or appropriate clothing . Caribe funeral home had lopsided half broken window blinds, with no curtains the skirt around the bottom of the coffin was falling off, the coffin itself was lopsided, the workers were wearing jeans and hoodies.. the restrooms, although clean, had the toilet paper rolls on the back of the toilet.. all of the seating was in chairs that looked ancient... Unfortunately, I've been to many funeral parlors in my life, and they were all pristine and you couldn't find a single thing wrong with them.. I don't know where I should begin with this because it seemed like problem after problem with the service my family received from Caribe. During the wake, the casket arrived late (like nearly a half hour), but they sure did take it back on the dot despite this. They also spelled my grandmother's middle name wrong on the trim of the casket. We then received the remembrance cards during the service and the date of birth of the deceased was listed as the wrong year; there was a 30-year difference. The next day for the final viewing, the limousine that was supposed to arrive at 8:30 arrived 8:50 with no apology or explanation from the driver, we asked him what was going on and simply received an "oh there was traffic" as an excuse. When we finally arrive at the funeral home it is nearly 9:30, the service started at 9:00. They also went against the instructions for preparing the body as there was lipstick which was put on and the gloves that were provided but never put on. read more

FELIX hung up the phone on me when I went on to explain how horribly I was treated and if this were someone in his family that passed, I pray that he would not receive the same treatment I was receiving.... I also attempted to report this organization to the NYS Funeral Directors Association in Albany, and they asked "didn't you read the reviews, they get a lot of complaints". In addition to their treatment we were paired with a deacon that could not bring himself to stop flirting with the women at the ceremony.....Save yourself the added stress and grief. This place is horrible! Don't send your family members off this way! The overbook and offer the worst service ever! They are totally inconsiderate of you in a time you need to be comforted! The sent 3 hearses out at the same time totally confusing each part as to which to follow! The have no ushers to keep order at services! They never answer calls just terrible service! This is a late review. My mother passed away earlier this year. Bob and most of the staff were accommodating and understanding. We decided to use Zoom for those who could not attend the funeral; however, my experience with KC, the videographer, was horrible. On the funeral day, we were told those joining via Zoom could not talk because the feature was not available in the room we were assigned. This is after I requested this. KC was falling asleep and nodding while standing behind the camera the entire time. I was surprised he never fell over. I had to wake him up at one point. Imagine grieving the loss of your mother and trying to make sure someone you paid does their job. When we finally viewed the video recording, the camera was not focused on the person speaking, and there were periods where no image was on the screen; it was black. We contacted KC, and initially, he seemed to want to help/fix it genuinely. He asked for specific time frames, which I sent, but he kept pushing back the date when he would fix it. Eventually, he stopped responding with no resolution. Basically, how can you fix something recorded while half asleep? Needless to say, if you use the funeral home, do not use KC and confirm you have the room with audio capability for Zoom. read more
