There is no variety in their menu but that's actually the strength of this place. You can get in and out quickly faster than a typical order at your local deli while also having it hot and fresh as a result of them constantly creating burek pies for other customers and to portioning them out. The portion size is not something to be upset at despite it seeming small since it is caloric dense, making it extremely filling. With the only item made being the bureks, you do not have any other flavors masking the taste of it. I had been dying to try this place for months and finally, after going for a run with my girlfriend I got a chance to stop by and bring home a take out Burek. I didn't want to get the cheese variety just because I was worried it would be too heavy so I opted for the meat flavour and bought a couple of single cheese burek slices to go as well. The dough is crispy and light on the outside and warm and flaky inside. There is a good filling to dough ratio and this is definitely to be considered a comfort food. It's filling and will make you feel warm and full, like visiting grandma and eating her food. I would definitely get more burek if/whem I'm in the area. They're located in my girlfriend's neighborhood so I'm nearby pretty often especially since it will get warmer soon and our runs will likely be more often. He's Albanian and when one of my brothers mentioned wanting to try authentic burek he directed us here. The menu is simple and no frills; they serve three varieties of burek (meat, cheese, and spinach), homemade yogurt, espresso, and cappuccino - that's it. Wanting to get the full burek experience, we picked up a slice of each variety to take home. The burek was really good, I'm a sucker for cheese so that was definitely my favorite - but really they were all great. The phyllo dough was flaky with the right amount of filling and full of flavor. The burek here is always fresh out of the oven because they are so busy with customers. I often have to wait 20 or 30 minutes for them to make more, but it's worth it. I just go shopping or to the library or sit in the park and wait. The spinach burek is the absolute best. Crisp, savory, cheesy, and delicious. Hits the spot. Never had burek before; coulda used more salt and I wish the spinach layer were thicker (though the amount of cheese in the cheese slices seemed just right to me). It's here, at Duckagenie, where they make the most delicious, steaming, hot, meaty, juicy, orgasmic Burek you will ever put in your mouth. If you've never had Bosnian meat in your mouth before, and never felt Bosnian meat juice going down your throat, it's time to break you in, at Duckagenie. The Burek is like a huge wedge of pizza but with the Greek-style dough instead of Pizza dough, and with all kinds of cheese and oil and onions and potatoes and meat goodness on the inside. It'll burn your mouth if you try and eat it within the first 5 mins of its arrival. I love that NYC knows how to do "hot food" instead of "lukewarm food". At least in this part of the Bronx they do. And it's dirt cheap, and incomparably delicious. It's so good, it's worth making a pilgrimage to the Bronx for (along with Gyro King, Greek Express, S & S Cheesecake, El Atoradero for Mexican, and Louie & Ernie's Pizza). Initially I thought their Burek was a bit too pricey but once I had it, I realize for one Burek, it really does it's job and it felt like a meal.
