Best vet in town! I have bengal cats and Australian cattle dogs and there's no one I trust more than Dr Ravenscroft!!

    Tanya H.

Such sweet staff that made both me and my fur baby feel comfortable and well cared for. Gave my baby treats and were very gentle with her. They give you all the information you need (prices, what treatment/medication/vaccine they are suggesting and why) and are not pushy on any treatments, vaccines, etc, which adds to the comforting atmosphere. 10/10 recommend

Everyone at Kanan is so so so sweet! They're so on top of things and care so much about our baby! They don't over-test or upcharge, ever. Medical treatment is always spot on. I trust my baby with everyone there!

Poor manners by the vet. She tried to point out that my golden was poorly bred. Obviously doesn't know what she's talking about at all.

The space is very clean and comfortable, with calming sounds and enough space in the rooms. The staff is very professional and compassionate and responsive. The first time we went we saw Dr. Kohltfarber. He was very kind and explained what was going on in clear language, and answered all of our questions about how to care for our dog after leaving. The most recent time we went we saw Dr. Ferdowsian. She had to share some scary news with us but was so professional and down to earth that, even though I did feel a bit panicked, I was able to ask all of the questions I needed to and I left feeling hopeful about our dog's plan of care. She also contacted us after our visit to check in and was very compassionate and attentive with all of our concerns. Because of her quick findings at our most recent visit, we were able to get our dog scheduled for surgery at a specialty center that same week to have the issue resolved. Now our dog's quality of life is back to normal, and we couldn't be happier. They are also very clear about costs, including explaining all of our options for diagnostics and treatment. We felt their costs were fair too. We never felt confused or lost, even when we brought our dog in for a more complex problem. If your pet has an emergency I would absolutely recommend them.

The staff at Oaks Veterinary were very kind to us and sat us in a semiprivate room up front while Dr. Jimenez did some tests on our kitten (he's 12, but he'll always be our kitten). The diagnosis was Feline Idiopathic Cystitis and we were sent home with a variety of medicines, some cans of prescription urinary care food, and orders to follow up with our primary vet in about a week for more tests. Everything was pretty pricey at $1700, so I appreciated that they gave us the cans of food for free (which our primary vet didn't do when we eventually followed up). They also sent the records over to our primary vet, which I appreciated. I had to follow up with the office staff about getting copies of the records for myself and, when I reached out with concern about how long it should be taking Atticus to recover, it took about 5 days to get back to me. Those are the only reasons it's not 5 stars. Lots of parking and food places nearby if you need to wait.

I was greeted with kindness right away and taken to a room almost immediately. The hospital itself was spotless, quiet, and very organized, which made a stressful situation much easier. Dr. Salas was incredibly caring and patient throughout the entire visit. She even got down on the floor to help my cat feel more comfortable, which was something I had never seen before. She took the time to carefully explain everything after the tests were done and sat with me to go over the situation and next steps. Since it was late and I was overwhelmed, I asked her to repeat everything, and she was more than happy to do so without making me feel rushed at all. Every staff member I interacted with was kind, attentive, and genuinely caring, even in the middle of the night. They answered all of my questions and made sure both my cat and I felt taken care of from start to finish. I was also pleasantly surprised by the pricing. Compared to other emergency hospitals like ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital and VCA Animal Hospitals, the prices at Western Veterinary Center were much more reasonable than I expected. I have honestly never experienced this level of compassion and care anywhere else. I highly recommend Western Veterinary Center and Dr. Kalee Salas to anyone looking for exceptional veterinary care for their pet.

I brought my senior dog in for an emergency abdominal ultrasound after her primary vet flagged…read moresevere liver enzyme elevation. The visit lasted about an hour. I left with a verbal prognosis of "two to three months" and a recommendation for palliative management only. Her hepatic masses were described as too risky to operate on. CT and surgical consultation were mentioned as options but framed as not really worth pursuing... I sought a second opinion at a board-certified surgical specialty hospital the following week. A three-phase contrast CT and a surgical evaluation reframed the case entirely. Three weeks after the original ultrasound, my dog had a successful liver mass debulking. Pathology confirmed two malignant tumors with clean histologic margins and no vascular invasion. A third mass that had been grouped with them on imaging came back benign. Her revised prognosis is significantly longer than the original "two to three month" estimate. This review is not about the diagnostic findings, which were largely correct. It is about the recommendation that flowed from them. A definitive terminal prognosis was given before any tissue diagnosis or CT had been performed. If you are ever told your pet has months to live based on an ultrasound alone, please get a CT and a surgical consultation before making decisions you cannot undo. The diagnostic next steps available to my dog were the difference between two months and what is looking like a much longer runway. Front desk and technical staff were professional and kind. My concern is specific to the prognostic framing of this one visit.

I took my 15-year, 8-month-old dog "Champ" to the clinic for a rabies antibody (titer) test required for international travel. Dr. Kiumarsi knew my dog's age and medical history, yet no one explained that, because of his advanced age, there was a possibility his antibody level might be too low to pass the test or discussed giving him a rabies booster before performing the expensive titer test. I paid nearly $600 for the test, and the result came back negative. Only afterward was I told to bring my dog back for a rabies booster, wait another month, and then pay for a second titer test. This delayed my travel plans to Turkey by almost four weeks and increased my expenses. My frustration is not that the test was negative--it is that I was never informed beforehand about the risk of a failed result or the option of administering a booster first. Had I been given that information, I could have made an informed decision and potentially avoided unnecessary cost and delay. I expected honest guidance and recommendations that considered both my dog's wellbeing and my time and financial investment. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at Townsgate Pet Hospital. We were referred to Access in Woodland Hills without any meaningful warning about what that experience would be like. At no point were we told that Access requires full payment up front, offers no flexibility, or operates in a way that prioritizes financial compliance over humane communication. Had we known this in advance, we would have asked for other referral options. What was most upsetting is that when we later experienced dismissive and coercive treatment at Access, it became clear that this was not an anomaly. Many independent specialty clinics do offer payment plans, transparent conversations, or at least respectful explanations of alternatives. None of that context was shared with us before the referral. A referring veterinarian has a responsibility to do more than simply hand off a case. Referrals should include guidance, informed consent, and a clear picture of what a client is walking into, especially when the situation is urgent and emotionally charged. By sending us to Access in Woodland Hills without preparation or options, this clinic put us in an unnecessarily distressing situation at one of the most vulnerable moments a pet owner can experience. I expected advocacy and transparency. I did not expect to feel abandoned when guidance mattered most.
