My mom has mild cognitive impairment, is in assisted living there, and needs help every day. Sarum Talivaa, Senior Resident Care Director, and her team of caregivers are fantastic. I consider them partners in this crazy caregiving journey and I really value their experience and insight. I visit 3-4 times a week and I've seen that their work is very hard...so hard it would be easy for them to just phone it in to save their own energy. We were in a rush to complete the move, and Kayla from Ivy bent over backwards to make it happen in less than 48 hours and over a weekend. She even came in on her day off to help us get everything taken care of. The place has been really nicely remodeled. Everything is clean and well maintained. The grounds are also very nice. Key for us was the fall detection equipment that they have. It gave us comfort that any fall would be detected promptly. This was important as we knew that our family member was a fall risk. It was also great that they have an onsite nurse who could handle complicated meds that were changing every few days as well as glucose testing that needed to be performed multiple times a day. The chef they have is amazing. The activities coordinator is really caring and personable, and everyone who works there is pleasant. They were very accommodating to all of our needs, which was great. I could not have asked for a better experience!

Campbell Village took care of both my mother and father when they needed 24/7 care the most. My…read moremother was there for almost 6 years in Memory Care and my father had his own room near the Memory Care section for almost 3 years. My mother had gone on hospice at least 3 times while there, and each time the Memory Care and staff were so communicative and responsive so that my brothers and I could always know how she was doing. There were many times where Campbell Village helped us to get our mom and dad to the hospital for urgent situations, helping us to coordinate our dad's dialysis appointments, and also helping us to reserve the special dining room for our birthday dinners, special lunches, and holiday dinners. Campbell Village staff and the Memory Care staff significantly helped improve the quality of life for both my parents and my adult siblings so that we were sure our parents were safe and taken care of for their needs. And when the inevitable day arrived for my dad in 2024 and then 1 year later for my mom in 2025, Campbell Village called us immediately so that we can be there in those last moments. I will always be so grateful for their care, attentiveness, support, and empathy for both my mom and dad. The staff here really do care and I really felt that. We found Bed of Roses when my grandma needed hospice care in July. All of the staff are extremely…read morenice, comforting, and are confident in what they do, caring for patients with varying levels of needs. Among the biggest perks is they cook food in the kitchen. My grandma's appetite mainly revolved around homemade soups, eggs and oatmeal, smoothies, watermelon, and vegetables with meat (which had to be blended up because she refused to eat otherwise). They encourage patients to get some outside time in the backyard or a short walk in the neighborhood, but also had patience and understanding when it took about a week before my grandmother ventured outside. Accommodations and personal preferences are taken into account. For example, the 3 weeks my grandma was there she almost constantly alternated between being too hot and too cold. So the fan was adjusted accordingly, throughout the day. Bedside manner is above and beyond. Rose and her daughter Christina were the two main caretakers for my grandma whenever we visited. Their cheerfulness and general positivity is just the type of energy a person would want when not feeling their best. Even in the middle of the night when my grandmother would often wake up several times a night, Rose would get up to comfort her by sitting next to her bed for periods of time and saying calming words to her. My grandmother was a bit of a high-maintenance patient, but that didn't deter any of the staff's efforts to make her time there as comfortable as possible. Cleanliness is excellent as well, with diaper changes and showers being a top priority. The staff understands the effects of medications well, and talked it out with us a few times regarding which route or routes we wanted to take. My grandmother's room was soothing and homey with a good exposure of sunlight (and blinds) and had a nice TV. Sometimes we watched baseball with her or nature shows. Their communication with us was clear, and we always felt rest assured that the most was done for all patients there.

My 75-year-old mother underwent necessary brain surgery three weeks ago. Three days before surgery, she had a ground-level fall, tore her rotator cuff, and sustained a small fracture. Because the surgery could not be deferred, she proceeded as planned but required significant care at home afterward. She had been fully independent, and although she lives with my father, the caregiving needs were beyond his comfort level. I was able to help for a few days after her discharge, but it was clear they would need additional support for her to remain safely at home. The hospital nurses were wonderful, but my mom needed assistance even with basic tasks like repositioning in bed and using the restroom, as her left arm was immobilized. Our hospital care coordinator connected us with Amy, the client care manager for Family Matters, who met us at home right away. She performed a thorough evaluation and took the time to understand my parents' needs and preferences. Almost immediately, we were connected with KJ, the Director of Operations, who coordinated the caregiving schedule. She ensured an excellent match with caregivers and that coverage was consistent and reliable. Communication was seamless--KJ was always responsive and proactive with updates, and we never felt out of touch. My mom especially wanted to recognize her primary daytime caregiver, Maria. Maria was attentive, warm, and incredibly experienced, with over 20 years in caregiving. She is also an excellent cook and was especially skilled in helping my mom with more vulnerable tasks like showering. The other caregivers who supported nights and weekends were also wonderful. The team clearly put thought and care into matching personalities and backgrounds, which made a meaningful difference. Over the following weeks, my mom gradually regained her independence, and we were able to scale back care smoothly. The team made adjustments easy and seamless. We would absolutely use Family Matters again. This was our first experience with a caregiving service, and we were initially apprehensive, but they made the entire process easy, supportive, and reassuring. We would use them again in a heartbeat.

Managing my father's 24/7 caregiving across three agencies on top of everything else has been an…read moreenormous undertaking especially while working a demanding full time job. Even more challenging is finding caregivers you can truly trust during such a vulnerable stage of life. A very special thank you to Family Matters, and my father's caregiver, Sade. He is under hospice care with advanced dementia, and can barely speak. Sade is consistently patient, and kind, and gives me complete peace of mind whenever she's caring for him. Most importantly, she engages with him and makes him feel seen. This is in sharp contrast to other caregivers we've experienced who are often on their phones and treat him as if he's invisible. I'm also especially grateful for KJ who manages the caregivers and scheduling. While other agencies haven't taken the time to meet my father or me in person, KJ made it a priority to get hands-on training to fully understand my father's caregiving needs. Because of this, she's been able to step in to provide training and support which is a huge godsend given my limited bandwidth. She even proactively revised the caregiving shift note template to make it clearer and more helpful for our caregiving team. Family Matters has truly exceeded our expectations because they understand the real meaning of caregiving. On top of that, their participation in the Veterans Assistance Program, which requires stricter qualifications provides an added layer of confidence and experience.
