We lost her suddenly and found this place close by, for an affordable price. We were just looking for a private cremation and urn, but I'm so happy and touched to have the paw print tile as well. Last month, I almost had to let my dog go and be the person to make that decision for him. A few days before the appointment, he left on his own terms, and I couldn't be happier. Fantem left us on a Sunday nearing 5 p.m., so everything was closing with vet offices and urgent care centers. We googled on how to maintain his body (freezer or dry ice, and we chose dry ice). My husband and I googled and found a few places for cremation, but at the end, we chose here as Humane Society of Silicon Valley uses this vendor. I sent an email following Fantem and received a response quickly. I was asked to call the following morning between work hours (9-1p or 1-3p) to speak to Jaime. The following morning, I spoke to Jaime, and we arranged a drop-off time for later that morning before noon. They are located in the beginning part of the Santa Cruz mountains. We arrived at the address, which belonged to a vet hospital, and parked in the last spot in the parking lot. We called Jaime, and within 5 minutes, he arrived. He took the time to explain the process to us and urn options, completed a small 1 page form, and charged us right there. He gave us time to say bye to Fantem and expressed his sympathy with us. He informed us it would take 2-3 wks for the cremation and wooden memory box with the tile picture option that we chose ($375 total). He also shared that the person who does the picture tile is having issues with the machine and recently moved out of state, hence the timeframe. We were ok with it as we felt Fantem was in good hands. Fantem's pictures were provided to Jaime via email, and I provided him with my top choices for him to pick from on which picture would be best quality for the picture tile. Fantem was returned to us just a little over 3 weeks. The memory box is beautiful, and it's sealed shut as I wanted to open it up to see Fantem's ashes. I guess it's better that way. The clay tile is not needed for me, but it's good to have. Maybe one day I can put him out at the front of the house when it's nice and clean. I didn't give a 5-star due to communication and documentation. The communication was pretty good up front, but once after we dropped off Fantem, there was no communication at all, and I had to follow up on my own. In reading other reviews I read that there was a cremation certificate, however, I didn't receive one for Fantem other than the label that was on the box indicating dog's name, owner's name, number (cremation?) and hospital name (3 letters only). Also, the only documentation I received of this was the receipt of payment. There was no documentation for myself on what I requested or urn option I chose. A carbon copy or email confirmation would be good. This could've been a scam for all I know, but because Humane Society partners with this provider that I trust that they will do what they say they would. Unfortunately I had to use this service. I woke up Sunday morning and my almost 18 year old pup, Ziggy, had passed away. Even though I had though I had tried to prepare myself for this day, I was a wreck and I didn't know what to do. I live in an apartment, so I couldn't bury her... But I also would not have put her in the trash. I began looking into cremation and this is the closest place to me. I sent a message around 11am and even though it was not during business hours, Kim emailed me back by noonish. The email was very sincere and she explained how to keep Ziggy's body until I could get her to them the next day. The next day, I called and within an hour, my Zig was with them. On November 20, 2023, my fur baby of 12 years, a wonderful rescue Chiweenie, by the name of Maximillian "Max" passed away peacefully. He was a good boy, and saved my mom life waking her up from a home invasion. I miss you so much Max, I find solace knowing you are in doggo heaven. I lost my mastiff, who was my life, and he took such good care of him and they made the most beautiful urn and paw print for him, I've gotten many compliments on it. I've used this service at least 7 times judging by the urns on my window sill. Service has always been prompt. Once I even dug up several of my cats because we sold the property were they are, and I did not want to leave them behind; this did not trouble Trent whatsoever. Since Trent has passed away and Kim has moved on, Jaime is doing all the work and he is so very caring. He lets me pick my own colors for the urns and will pick up the dye for my special colors. He is just very kind. He has waited for me to come with my pets even outside his hours. I've not had any issues with names being misspelled like others have reported. I love the pawprints and urns, it is pottery and thus not every piece is alike, some of our urns vary in sizes. It make every piece unique. read more

My veterinary clinic, VCA Pinnacle (Terrible clinic!) asked if I wanted a paw print done of my cat after she was euthanized. I didn't ask any questions but just said yes. Big mistake. I received a messy, poorly done tile to memorialize my cat, Jo Jo. This looks like a project an elementary school student would make on their first try. There is a distracting white spot next to my cat's name & ink stains from whatever letters they used above my cat's name. They pressed too hard on my cat's paw, creating the weird, raccoon looking paw print. They charge almost $60.00 for this mess. When I called to complain, the lady said it was supposed to look rustic. They offered to try to "doctor" this tile if I returned it to the veterinary clinic. Some offer. What can I do? There's no opportunity to redo the paw print itself & why should I take the time to let them fix this mess they should have caught before they sent it out. What it look like is someone who doesn't know how to stain, rushing a job & making a mess of a tile. They obviously don't take any pride in their work. When my baby girl passed away back in 2010, I looked to yelp to find a business that would cremate her little body so she can come home to me. I found Caring Pet Service, and the lady I met was so kind and caring, she comforted me and held my Chloe's body ever so gently which was comforting. A couple of weeks later, my sweet girl came home in the most beautiful blue urn ever, handmade just for her, with a picture of her and her name on it. My sweet boy passed away recently and was cremated by a company contracted by the emergency veterinary hospital near where I live. That company returns the ashes in a box, but I was looking for more, something as special as the urn that was made for my Chloe. I contacted Trent to see if they would be able to make an urn for my Baby, and he told me Baby's urn would be ready in a week. I just drove down to LG this past Saturday and picked up my baby's urn from Trent. It was just as beautiful as that of my baby girl's and he was so kind and caring to me. If I could give no stars I would. I trusted them with my 11 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback for cremation. This turned into a nightmare dealing with them for 5 weeks. I was promised my dog back in 2 weeks by Kim which turned into 5 weeks and after being billed 2 times plus returning my dogs urn with his name spelled wrong( which I spelled several time to Jaime) then to top it all off they returned a paw print with my dogs name on it and it was not his paw print. As hard as it is to write this review, I want to commend Trent for the job that he does. He is the most compassionate and calming person to talk to when you're in crisis mode. He made our arrangements the smoothest they could be by giving my sweet baby a beautiful departure and I'll forever remember my experience with him. A week ago today began Magnus' end of life journey and we fought until the very end. Three nights in ICU and multiple blood transfusions I knew he might not make it, but had hopes that he would. I hadn't planned what I would do if I were to lose him, but knew I should start thinking about it. I called Trent on Saturday at 4pm and left a voicemail introducing myself and trying to explain through the tears what I was looking for. I had no idea when or if Magnus would pass, but I knew I needed to have a backup plan. Trent called me back within 10 minutes with the most empathetic tone and told me to let him know when it was time and gave me his cell number (keep in mind it was the weekend and they are normally closed). Magnus crossed over the Rainbow Bridge at 10:30am on Sunday. I called Trent to see what we could arrange and he met me within an hour. We took Magnus up to the Summit where the crematorium was and it was the most beautiful drive. Trent hugged me when he got out of the car and I knew then that Magnus was in good hands. Today, I brought home my sweet baby. I knew it was him because the urn was quite heavy and Magnus was an English Mastiff who weighed close to 200lbs. My puppy girl was hit by a car in December along Meridian Ave. :( Be careful around there folks, cars fly by like crazy. Anyways, this is the crematory service that my pet hospital partnered with (along with many other clinics/ pet hospitals), so they must be doing something right. We received a beautiful green urn (which has more of a teal color to it) and her paw print tile within a couple of weeks. I don't remember receiving a certificate, but even if I did I wouldn't know what to do with it. This was my first time cremating a beloved pet. In my family we usually bury them. It was a bit difficult because within 2 hours of recovering her body I was suddenly in a waiting room picking out colors/styles of her urn as if I was picking out a dress. It was just strange mourning and then purchasing. The price was very reasonable though. Overall, I'm glad this was the service we used. I cannot believe I never reviewed this place. Its not a place I go looking for but I am so happy I found this place. I came here in august 2015 and was taken care of very promptly. I had my first dog for 15 years and she passed away suddenly. I was searching for a place to cremate my dog the same day but most places closed so early and charged an arm and a leg for the cremation service. Yes i understand these things cost money, but I was only 19 at the time working a part time job so it was a lot of money. Anyway, I called them and they told me they were willing to wait for me 1/2 hour after they close because i was coming from san jose. That was a1 customer service. When I got there, Trent was there to greet me. He was very welcoming. I remember balling my eyes out and not wanting to hand over my beloved dog. Trent did not rush me at all and told me I can take as much time as I needed. They made a clay print of my dog's paw and sent it back to me within a week, which is such a quick turnaround time. I have been recommending this place to everyone I know. I am happy to have stumbled upon this place by chance. My dog is now resting easy over the santa cruz mountains and ocean. Wow, this is going to be a tough one for me to write, as my beloved 12 year-old lab just passed away three days ago. However, in his final day, as I was trying to figure out what I would do when he was gone, I looked up Caring Pet Service on Yelp (per the recommendation of a vet) and really appreciated the reviews written by other customers. Hopefully it will help other bereaved pet owners to have one more review. I called Caring Pet Service an hour after Jackson died and Trent answered the phone. He was so kind as I explained the situation -- I know he deals with a lot of very sad pet owners, but I still felt like he cared about my individual situation. He explained my options, which included bringing Jack to their place in the LG mountains or having his son pick him up at our house in SJ. I was unsure what I wanted to do, as my husband was at work and I needed to get in touch with him first, and Trent was very patient with my indecision. He gave me his cell phone number so I could call him back. When we decided to have his son pick Jack up at our house, I called Trent back and he was again very kind. He told me that his son would be here between 12 and 1, and his son arrived at 12:30. He, too, was both kind and professional. He brought a book with urn options, but he was very understanding when I explained that my husband and I weren't really into ashes and would prefer to just have a paw print. He didn't try to sell me any more expensive services or convince me otherwise, which I REALLY appreciated. He said that the ashes would be spread up in the redwood forests. He was very reassuring. The service (pick-up, cremation, and a ceramic paw print) cost $180, which I thought was reasonable. One thing that might have been slightly off-putting to some people is that we just carried Jackson outside and put him in the (covered) back of his pick-up truck. I guess I wasn't expecting a hearse or anything, but it was still sort of weird to just put him in the truck bed. But it didn't diminish the experience too much for me. In the end, I was debating between a 4 and 5 star review for Caring Pet Service because it just seemed awkward to put, "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" for a service that is cremating my dog. However, I really can't think of anything more I could have expected from this caring, compassionate family, and I really appreciated how they made the experience as painless as possible. As much as I wish it weren't true, all pet owners will eventually go through the heartbreaking experience of losing their companion, and when you do, this is a welcome option for that difficult time. UPDATE: Yesterday, just six days after Jackson's passing, I received a package in the mail from Caring Pet Service with a beautiful clay paw-print of Jackson's, with his name etched at the bottom. It is a simple, earth-colored clay, not glazed or anything, and it is a wonderful reminder of my beloved buddy. 5 stars for Caring Pet Service. read more

The same story as most on here, my cat who was only 6 had liver failure and I had to put her down. It was a really difficult thing to do however I was reassured that I would forever treasure the tile I decided to buy. I ordered it saying I wanted one print on it. I just received it and first of all they crammed two paw prints into such a tiny area it looks squished, they pushed so hard it imprinted her claws into the tile which makes it look gory like the paws are scratching into the tile, the letters were all crooked and, and the biggest problem I had: THEY SPELT HER NAME WRONG. My cat's name is Reeses like the chocolate, and was written on the paper as such...and they spelt her name like Recess as in "school recess". This is impossible to re-do because they cant just bring back my cat. It is there job to try to retain what is left of good the memories you had with your pet and they really messed it up. Every time i look at the tile I see the efforts of a 3rd grade art project and the prints of a cat with her claws out which suggests she's angry. I am very upset and I will never go back here. I suggest if you want a pleasant memory then just do the prints yourself when you first get your animals. read more

I *dreaded* the thought of my closest companion for many years being thoughtlessly tossed on a truck and shipped off to the Sacramento pet crematorium that services most of the Bay Area. My vet does not work directly with Caring Pet Service, so we had to transport the body directly to them on our own and meet them in the parking lot of the Summit Vet Clinic. That was a bizarre experience, but it worked out fine. They were very respectful, and we picked up the ashes (in a nice homemade ceramic urn in the shape and color I had chosen) and the pawprint at the Trent Ceramics Studio in downtown Los Gatos a few weeks later. It looks great, and I was very happy with the whole process. The only thing I wasn't initially aware of was that the urn comes back sealed. So, if you want some of the ashes to scatter, let them know beforehand. A bit more expensive than the alternatives, but much more personal. read more

As painful as it is to write this review, I am very grateful that Trent and his family was there for us when our dog passed away suddenly. It was a Sunday morning, and most businesses were closed, but we reached Caring Pet service the morning of her passing without a problem. Trent met us and we handed over our little one to him. It was Christmas week, and so he worked extra fast and got her home to us before Christmas. He even met us after hours to deliver her as we had work and was not able to make it to the gallery before Christmas weekend. I cried my eyes out, such a hard thing to lose a friend who's been such a constant in your life for so many years, but Trent made the process as calming as possible. The jars are handmade, so expect the little TLC touches on them, do not expect factory made. I personally like that it was made by hand by someone who cared and respected the process. read more

I am in complete loss of words to how wonderful their service is! My dog's urn is so beautiful and her paw prints are more than I could ever imagine. She was such a wonderful princess and deserved an elegant urn like the one they made for her! read more
