As a veterinarian, I'm extremely selective about who I trust with my own dog, but Dr. Block is a rare exception. After I diagnosed my dog, Pi, with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) at my general practice clinic, I brought him to Dr. Block for a specialist evaluation. She was incredibly thorough and also diagnosed him with high blood pressure, allowing us to start treatment right away. Dr. Block is exceptionally knowledgeable, compassionate, and someone I trust completely. The entire Apex team was also wonderful with Pi--they genuinely treated him like a king. He normally hates going to the vet, but somehow he acted like he was having a spa day! Professionally, I only refer my cardiac patients to Dr. Block because I trust her expertise and the level of care she provides. Personally, I'm incredibly grateful that Pi gets to be her patient. I truly cannot recommend Dr. Block and the Apex team highly enough.

Dr. Chloe Block and the team have always been warm and caring. My dog felt comfortable visiting the clinic because of the team and the individual waiting rooms (calming layout and music). I appreciated being able to go to the back with my dog to be there for every step of the exam. It was much better than dropping him off for a day at our general vet's clinic when the rotating cardiologist visited. Dr. Block is good at explaining the disease processes and had a good treatment plan for my dog. Unfortunately, he ended up passing after his last visit with them due to his complicated condition. I know that Dr. Block acts in good faith for her patients. Many times we would want to ask an urgent question but they are only open Monday through Thursday. She does check her email once a day but it would've been nice to have something akin to a nurse advice line since they aren't open as many days.

From the moment I walked in with Piper, I felt completely supported. One of the most important offerings from this clinic is that they allow you to stay with your pet the entire time; even through procedures. Being able to remain by Piper's side throughout everything brought me so much comfort. They are thoughtful in ways that truly set them apart. They warm the gel for the echocardiogram (such a small detail, but it makes a real difference), and they offer whipped cream or other treats during the echo to keep your pet relaxed and happy. Most of all, they were incredibly kind, empathetic, and genuinely loving toward Piper. They absolutely adored her and made a point to tell me how cute she is, which meant more than I can say. When Piper was diagnosed with severe mitral valve prolapse and prescribed twice-daily medication, Dr. Block was extremely thorough and patient in explaining everything. I never felt rushed. I felt informed, cared for, and supported every step of the way. This team brings both deep expertise and so much heart to what they do. I'm beyond grateful we found them.

Can't recommend Dr. Block and her team more, after my baby Killua got diagnosed with HCM, her team has been life savers (quite literally) in prescribing him meds and adjusting his dosage based on behavioral patterns. The ER said he only had months to live and he's been doing so much better with two. I hate BlueRabbit though as the service Dr.Block's team uses. It was glitchy at first, be sure to call their support if you have similar issues. My boy loves everyone and the whipped cream there! Excited for the next visit.

Apex is truly amazing. We were very concerned about Goose's behavior--he had been waking up in the middle of the night, and although we had already seen his regular vet, we worried it might be related to his heart. We took a video and emailed it to the clinic, and Dr. Chloe responded quickly and asked to see him right away. When we arrived, the team took his blood pressure and performed an ultrasound. From start to finish, the entire staff was incredibly kind and attentive. The level of compassion and care they show, for both pets and their owners, is remarkable. This is a truly special place, and every member of the team deserves recognition for their dedication and genuine love for animals.

The level of care here is exceptional. Our cat is extremely anxious and usually hates vet visits, but Apex has completely changed that experience. Each cat gets a private room with toys, calming music, and Feliway scent, which makes a noticeable difference. The staff are highly skilled, attentive, and consistently professional. We always feel confident that our pet is in the best hands.

Until recently, this was a 5-star clinic, but the administrative experience has declined significantly. We had always appreciated the ability to call for quick questions and book appointments--a necessity for managing a pet's health. However, communication has become a major hurdle since last year. Last year's AI system made it impossible to book an appointment for our new puppy or communicate with staff. We provided feedback at the time about how difficult this made communication. While the AI answering system is now gone, reaching a human is still a struggle. I don't think they have staff in the office answering calls anymore. Most recently, my dog suffered through days of diarrhea because of the slow communication process. It's heartbreaking to watch a pet suffer while waiting days just to get a status update on a prescription. I still trust the medical staff, but the communication barriers make it very difficult to recommend them like I used to.

I cannot begin to describe the emotional distress that I was in. "It has takin me 4 months before I could even write this review. Now that you understand the state of mind I was in, let's begin: I took Pickles in to see Dr. VanZant Who is extremely knowledgeable and did everything she could to help Pickles. I will say this about Dr. VanZant... she does not mix her words, she tells you like it is, to a fault. She comes off making you feel like you don't care for your pet and you're a horrible owner of your pet. "At least that's how she made me feel" now after talking to many people and I mean many people, including people that have worked with her in the past, they all said to me that Dr. VanZant is an incredible aviary veterinarian and truly cares for the animals "which I agree with 100%" but she is very rough around the edges. So I guess what I'm trying to convey in my review is... I would absolutely take my bird back to her, and we did until the disease I felt was too great for my bird and I had to put him down I also took my other bird Peaches in to see her for a blood work up because I was afraid that she might have also have gotten the disease that Pickles had. Let's make it clear Dr. VanZant is emotionally hard to deal with in regards to your pet but she is a damn good Doctor who will do everything she possibly can to make you bird better again and in all honesty I believe she did everything and beyond to help Pickles. So I highly recommend For The Birds, and Dr. VanZant, just be aware that she can come off very harsh, and has the disposition of a chair. Quite honestly I'd rather have someone come off harsh but is competent and will do everything in their power to help your pet "and loves your pet" than someone who is very caring twards me but has little knowledge or experience to help. That's my 2 cents, do with it what you will. Like her I did not pull my punches, just spoke the truth. Last things last: again I can't stress how much Dr. VanZant did for Pickles to try to keep him alive. I just wish she would have show a little more compassion for the ones who are grieving while their pets are sick or hurt. It is possible to speak the brutal truth in a compassionate manner.

We spent around $4,000 for her surgery, and she remained hospitalized for about two weeks. When we brought her home, she was still extremely weak and could barely stand properly on her legs. We brought her back the following week and repeatedly asked WHY she was not recovering and what was causing her condition. For the next six months, it became the same heartbreaking cycle: hospital for a week or longer, home, then within a short time she would stop eating or become very sick again, and we would rush her back. We repeatedly asked for a clear explanation of why this kept happening, but we never felt we received one. Instead, we often felt blamed. We were told things like maybe we washed her towels with scented soap/detergent or that we brought her in too late when she was almost dying. We spent close to $10,000 trying to save Gutu because she was our baby. Surrendering her to Mickaboo was recommended several times, but we were never ready because we loved her and wanted to continue doing everything possible for her.On July 30, Gutu stopped eating again and we brought her back. After watching her suffer through months of going between home and the hospital, we finally made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her because we believed staying under professional care would give her a better chance to recover. The doctor specifically told us that after surrendering her, WE COULD STILL CALL TO CHECK ON HER AND EVEN COME SEE HER.For the entire following week, my husband and I repeatedly called for updates. My husband's calls were not answered. When I reached the front desk, I was told they didn't know her condition but someone would call me back. Nobody did. The next day, the same thing happened. We also repeatedly texted the number that had previously sent us pictures of Gutu. NO RESPONSE.Finally, today, Friday, August 7, I called again and was told that Gutu had PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY NIGHT.Nobody called us.For TWO DAYS, our baby was already gone while my husband and I were desperately calling and texting trying to find out how she was doing. We only learned she had died because I continued calling them myself.I understand that veterinarians cannot save every animal, and this review is NOT simply because Gutu passed away. It is about six months of unanswered questions, repeatedly feeling blamed, poor communication, ignored calls/messages, promised callbacks that never happened, and most painfully, failing to tell us that our beloved bird had died. After six years of loving Gutu and spending close to $10,000 trying everything possible to save her, finding out this way was absolutely devastating and unacceptable. Gutu was not "just a bird." She was our family, and we deserved at least the basic compassion and professionalism of being informed when she passed away.

I am at fault, but if the bird had a blood test on file it might have made me more aware of continually checking his uric acid level. My husband took care of bird when we first got him. I am positive the bird had full blood test and checkup by Dr Vansant. The bird saw Dr Vansant several more times over the years. When my husband got sick I took over the bird's care. I saw the bird had problem with his foot. I called on Friday but, no one was in office until Thursday. The backup vet was booked. Mistake--I decided to wait until Thursday. On Sunday bird was lethargic. Found urgent care vet that said they took birds, but they did not .....they did not have equipment to do blood test. etc. big mistake..Third big mistake again waiting until Thursday instead of finding another vet. YES I AM AN IDIOT. Thursday bird had high uric acid and they IV'd bird until Sat when they closed for Easter. I had been told bird would go to another vet to continue IV over Easter holiday. Brought him back after Easter where he died several days later after more IV. They had no blood tests on their records. No one EVER told ME to have blood test done for the bird. I would definitely have done it. I found they switched computer systems couple years ago and did not have previous records. Then I remembered I'm sure my husband told me years ago the bird had 'high uric acid' but IT MEANT NOTHING TO ME WHEN HE TOLD ME THAT and he said nothing more so I forgot about it. I believe there is a record of bird having blood test showing high uric acid but it was on their old computer system..... The only other thing to conclude is it was never recommended to me to have a blood test for the bird, because I know I would have definitely done it. It was my inaction that killed my bird, but if I did have blood test done that showed high uric acid, I would have known what to tell another doctor. This occurred several years ago. Only now can I face it.
