I called to have my boiler cleaned. It is easily accessible and less than 7 years old. The plumber came and went, with little interaction, never mentioned any replacement parts required. A few days later the charge was posted on my credit card, which they require in advance. $784.82 ! Charged for 3 hours and 15 minutes at $195.00 an hour and another $142.48 for parts. Their website says they are efficient and professional. My fault for not asking for an estimate, but never again to call their number for service. for 25 years Carl Reidell has take care of our home with the highest marks. recently, one mistake after another, numerous added appointments to fix them all (some serious)--ALL OF WHICH THEY BILLED FOR, including the latest which could as easily been handled with a 2-sentence conversation but instead was $190.00, the trust is completely broken and we will never call them again. This past spring, I arranged a full cleaning of the heating AND cooling--and oops--the a/c never got reviewed and July 4 weekend all my guests hung out with fans. and when they came back to fix it, I got ANOTHER BILL! trust is everything. We have used Riedell for 20 years. They are professional and friendly. They answer the phone when we call. I do not have to be there when they do maintenance on our heater. Made an appointment with Riedell for an estimate on repair of furnace on @ 11:00. I arrived at my family house at 10:50 to meet the rep to give me a repair estimate. Come to find out, the rep had arrived before our appt time and left before our appointment time. We had workers there, cleaning the house out and Riedell just let themselves in help themselves to the basement. He had left before I even arrived, which was well before our appointment time. I feel this is breaking and entering. Obviously not a trustworthy company. I would never have them come to my house again and do any kind of repairs be very wary if you ever call them. I would suggest to never call them. read more

An installation that was never installed properly was "fixed" a month later, but then had the exact same issue a year later. They continue to charge to fix the same problem because "it's not within the "original" installation 12 months." Use someone else who will stand by their service. read more

Requested a quote for central air installation in Wareham since their website lists Wareham as a service area. Got a voicemail saying they don't service anyone off-Cape. They may want to change their website to reflect correct information. From the looks of it, we may have dodged a bullet by not getting a quote from them! read more

Riedell are crooks. Installed new piping, etc. on an older gas boiler $1000 down the drain. Did not notice crack or corrosion in boiler (we don't inspect!) or CO2 level at chimney (astronomical!). Should have advised new boiler which they now want to put in. Acknowledged most of piping they just put in will not be useful. Rude, overpriced, incompetent. read more

I moved this Summer, two miles away from my prior home, and when I requested service, they refused "because I was a new location"! I thought I was a customer and not a location. read more

About 20 yrs ago I purchased a water treatment system from Riedell to remove excessive iron from our well water. It worked great until it needed replacement about 6 years ago.I also purchased the replacement system from Riedell/Advanced Water Treatment About a year ago the treatment system stopped functioning and I called them for service. The tech came out and reset the system and said if things didn't improve he would have to come back and do more work....he suggested replacing the resin beads/filter media. When the system still wasn't working right we called again in April for service ... and this is when the trouble really began. The service tech who came out was very young and very clearly inexperienced. He seemed clueless about what to do and kept insisting that he couldn't do anything further until he took a water sample and sent it to the lab for testing.. which would take several weeks. I kept telling him that we knew that the water was high in iron.. that's why we had a treatment system installed 20+ years ago. I told him the reason I called for service was for them to get the system working.. not to preform unnecessary tests. He basically refused to do anything except take a water sample..I suspect he didn't have the knowledge necessary to actually trouble shoot and repair the system or the skills necessary to replace the resin beads. So he left without actually doing anything to repair the system. Riedell then sent me a bill for $162! I didn't think I should pay anything. Since the tech did nothing except argue with me and insist that he needed to test the water that we knew had excessive iron. I called Riedell to try to discuss the charges.. and they never returned my call and continued to send bills. After several months my partner called and talked to Mike who agreed that we shouldn't be charged. However the system still doesn't work... and Riedell has now declined to come and make the necessary repairs to the system. I certainly understand that the pandemic has put strains on the entire system and labor and service has been affected obviously. But I don't think that sending out an untrained inexperienced "service" tech who clearly wasn't qualified or able to make the necessary repairs is in any way excused or justified by the pandemic. They obviously have organizational/ management problems that go well beyond the pandemic. I'm actually kinda glad that they no longer want me as a customer.. since I don't want to continue to do business with a company with such an untrained and unqualified work force. I'm pretty sure that my experience is a tip of the iceberg issue ...and I doubt that they will continue to stay in business with their combination of lack of skilled service techs, bad management and terrible customer service BTW I received another bill.. probably the 6th+ since the original "service" call was in April.. yesterday! I'm new to the Cape and this is my first house with a sump pump, and I have three of them in my basement (I live near a pond). Apparently this is the time of year when the water table rises, and my pumps are on almost all the time and I was concerned with the noises so set up an appointment with Riedell. They offered to come out between scheduled calls (which I thought was awesome), but I told them it wasn't an emergency -- I just wanted an opinion from an expert. They scheduled an appointment for two days later, and the tech (Glen) arrived on time. He was friendly and professional and went to work studying all the pumps in the basement, as well as the pump in the septic system. Now he absolutely could have told me they all needed to be replaced immediately and I would have cut a check. Instead, he assured me they're all in working order and in good shape. As this was my first appointment, he also took a look at my other equipment (on demand water heater, washer hookup, main water line, toilets, faucets, and furnace), and gave me a solid walk-through, providing some thoughts on what I should be looking at over the next year or so. Even though nothing was wrong with my equipment, I happily signed the check for the visit. I have piece of mind and have found my plumbing and heating company. read more

I returned at 10 pm from a week away and could not turn my water back on in the basement. I left a message, they were in touch at 8 a.m. They promised service today, called about 45 minutes before plumber arrived at noon, and he made the necessary repair quickly. They were up front about 1 hour minimum charge, but it was well worth it....All of this excellent service, and I had never been a customer before; I will definitely use them again! read more

I have a summer house on the Cape and have been using Riedell Plumbing and Heating for over 20 years. I have the utmost trust and confidence in the entire team. When I set up appointments for Spring water turn-ons and Winter shut-offs, they always show up on time, generally the same technician who knows where everything is and what has to be done. When I put an addition on the house and added air conditioning, they were my vendor of choice. The work was completed on time and the price was fair. In emergency situations, and I have had more than a few, my problem became a top priority for them and they were quickly resolved. A few examples: A water pipe in my crawl space burst. They were there within an hour to repair it. On a Saturday evening, in the middle of the summer, with a very full house, my water tank failed. Because the tank was oversized, they did not have one in the shop. They managed somehow to convince the distributor to open up on Sunday morning and they picked up a new water heater and it was in place and working by 10:00 AM. This past winter, one of the furnaces failed and I was alerted by the low temperature alarm. Although I was not there, they came that day and fixed the furnace before any cold weather problems happened. That's five star customer service! read more

Extermely disappointed with the Riedell company. The technician that came out took a water sample from our existing Aquasana system and basically told us it was bad, water was more acidic after the system and wanted us to spend 4 grand to replace a brand new water system from them. When we asked to have the water test and were willing to pay for it the technician agreed for a price however they changed their minds after several days of us asking for the tests and would not provide the information on our water samples before and after the existing systems points. Now I have to start over taking more time to get to resolution which was already 20 days from them. Terrible customer service. read more

In my experience, these guys are either incompetent or outright dishonest. A heater went off on my property; their technician promptly came on the call and enthusiastically "diagnosed" two issues - a faulty control board, and a heat exchange that needs replacement (meaning the whole boiler needs to go). Apparently, both somehow failed at the exact same time. The proposed solution was suggested to be anywhere between $7K to $12K depending on the additional "inspection" they required before issuing a firm estimate. I called to explain and confirm, and was given a nice sales pitch which left me very uncomfortable. Of course, I hired another professional. Of course, the issue did not require any control board or boiler/heater replacement - it was no more than clogged injection nozzles. Of course, the total cost of the repair was around $500, including maintenance and some preventive parts replacement. Based on my few phone conversations with various personnel, I was left with an impression that these guys are not dealing in good faith, and that this attitude is emblematic of the whole company. Called this morning just after 9:30 and had a call back in 45 minutes that someone could be here within an hour. He arrived, checked out my issue with a dripping water heater and quickly diagnosed as just needing a replacement release valve and a new expansion tank. I have been using Reidell for many many years. I have to say from office staff to on site work staff, they are top notch... not to mention the quality of their product. The gentlemen who service my filtration units are thorough, knowledgeable and respectful. We just upgraded our heating and A/C units and I can not speak more highly of the team that installed it. Overpriced plumbing company with no follow up customer service. They sent the "quote" guy to give us a price and all he did was talk about his Harley, his house, who he knows, blahblahblah! The quote was so bloated it was ridiculous. AND.....he never even followed up with us to see what we wanted to do. Ended up going with a great guy from Seaside Gas! He wasn't the least expensive but his follow up and customer service was fantastic! And his work was impeccable! read more

We used Riedell to replace a water heater. They were same price as Home Depot with none of the hassle. Office staff and serviceman were helpful. Service was prompt. They filed paperwork and work was inspected as per MA guidelines. It was all very easy. read more

One more time, I put my trust in Riedell & Sons and as usual wasn't disappointed. I had a major drain backup in my home on Cape Cod yesterday. We had renters there, it was Sunday, I was 2 hours away with lunch guests just sitting down! After a 2 minute panic attack, I called Riedell's answering service. Brian call me right back and, after talking over the problem, he advised me to call our septic system maintenance company. Brian said he could snake the drains and was willing & able to make the after-hours call to our house, but if the problem was due to a septic system issue, he would not be able to take care of it. Time and $ would have been wasted. I called my septic system gurus and the problem was taken care of quickly and efficiently by them. Yes, it was a septic system filter clog. Brian called me back to follow up, before I could get to the phone to let him know myself that all was well. His office also called me early this morning (the next day) to just check in. Riedell's service level continues to be great, after using them as our go-to plumbers for almost 60 years. I don't know how they maintain such dependability. I've owned my own family business and know what it takes to be so consistent. It isn't easy. Kudos are in order for Riedell & Sons. Carl Riedell Sr. would be proud! read more
