Well not only was that a plus, but I received the best customer service I have ever received from any storage facility, let alone many businesses in general. I booked online and got a Web Special. I went in about 30 minutes later and Wesley Hood greeted me in the office. He was AWESOME! Just an overall nice person, thorough in explaining the details to me. Gave me recommendations. I didn't feel like he was trying to squeeze every dollar out of me with add ons like many places tend to do. I would strongly caution anyone against using this St. Pete U-Haul location…read more We were incorrectly charged a $315 extra mileage fee due to an error made at pickup -- the starting mileage was recorded wrong by the location. When we called to resolve it, the employee we spoke with was rude and dismissive. We were told Rico Flounary (the manager) would call us back in 15 mins, but he never did. We then went in person and Rico had left for the day. Andrew and Keith (the only nice employees) tried to help but said they couldn't do anything because it had to go through Rico. While we were there, Don came in and was rude, accusatory, and completely unhelpful. No one at the location seemed willing to actually look into the issue or take accountability. After doing our own research and finally getting a helpful person on the U-Haul customer service line, we discovered the previous renters drove the truck from Anaheim to St. Pete but only logged 2,250 miles -- when the actual distance is about 2,550 miles. That missing ~300 miles is exactly what we were charged for. The only reason this was resolved was because of U-Haul's customer service line and our persistence -- not because of anyone at this specific location. Being charged hundreds of dollars for someone else's mistake and then treated poorly while trying to fix it is unacceptable. Double-check your mileage and take a picture on your phone before leaving the lot if you choose to rent here.

After a family member passed away, I brought the certified death certificate, Will, and Trust documents as the Trustee and sole beneficiary. However, the manager incorrectly insisted that I also needed Power of Attorney, which is no longer valid after a person's death. We were eventually allowed access only because I already had the entry code. Once inside the unit, we found rat droppings throughout the space, along with visible rat traps in the hallways. Despite the unit being indoors on the second floor with air conditioning, there was clearly a serious pest problem. Roaches were climbing the walls, and when we got home, we discovered rat urine had soaked into several plastic bins. The condition of the facility was unacceptable.
