My boys and I have been loyal patrons since the week they opened, and today was the last time. If Mario is not there, come back another day, as Curtis cannot handle cutting hair and keeping up with the order of patrons to be seen. Once again, he sent someone into a chair out of order, and when I advised him, he could not have been more rude and dismissive towards me, and ignored my advice on who was next. 2nd time here. First with Gigi. Mama is not used to having his hair cut so short but he wanted a design so Gigi did her thing. I said 'buddy it's a little shorter than we normally get but it looks good' he says 'Mom I love it!' I said 'as long as you like it that's all that matters. It's your head and hair!' I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review for Carlos's Barbershop...but here it is! I absolutely love this place. It's become like a second home for me and my three boys. We recently moved out of Riverside, and leaving was incredibly tough. One of the hardest parts? Saying goodbye to the barbershop that's taken such good care of us. Carlos's Barbershop is everything you want in a place like this, friendly, fun, professional, detail-oriented, and filled with genuinely good people. I'm super particular about my hair, so trusting someone with it is a big deal. And this crew? I trusted them completely. Mario runs an outstanding shop. Star is the sweetest and always a joy. Curtis--come on now--my man Curtis is the absolute best! My son never wanted anyone else to cut his hair. Gigi crushed it every time. Danny is top-notch, and Ariel? Also amazing. Honestly, every barber there knows exactly what they're doing. I also really appreciated that the conversations in the shop were always respectful and family-friendly. That's a rare find these days. Went in this am right at opening to get my 5 yr olds haircut - he's not a big fan of haircuts, we got right in with Danny and he was quick to get started! We went in on a late Saturday morning for the first time. Walk ins and cash only. They have an ATM there too. I was looking for a local place for a haircut but kids friendly barber. I've never been a fan of the over priced kids places. We saw a few other pictures with kids and wanted to check it out. We went in thinking there was a wait but we were seated right away by ruby. She was so nice and worked really well with him. We will definitely be back! I loved that they had many chairs with barbers and a busy environment to distract him. I have only tried this place today, so I may try one of the other barbers here in the future. Unfortunately the guy that helped me out didn't understand what I asked for. He's was rushing through the cut, bumping into my head with the blades, and his thinning shears were pulling on my hair instead of thinning (might just need sharpening). Anyway, asked for just a little off the top with a 1 on the sides, he ended up cutting off more than half off the top because "it was too thick and wasn't setting right". Have you ever heard a man complain the he had too much hair? Or it was too thick? Anyway, it'll grow back but I'm just not happy with it. unfortunately I was facing away from the mirror the whole time so I couldn't see what he was doing until the end. Whole thing could've been avoided if I saw what he was doing as he was doing it. Like I said, I'll probably just try another chair, can't help but feel pissed off though. read more

Carlos' barber shop is a super relaxed and affordable barbershop near the Woodcrest area of Riverside. It has slowly but surely become my absolute favorite barbershop in Riverside and I come here at least once a month for a haircut. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I never got that weird vibe that you get at some barbershops when your new. This spot is for sure family-friendly so you could bring in your kids for a haircut as well. There are usually a lot of barbers so the wait time isn't ever too bad, especially if you do not have a specific barber preference. I have had my haircut done by a few different barbers at this location and haven't ever had a haircut I wasn't satisfied with. I usually ask for either a high- or mid- fade with a natural part and everyone seems skilled enough to do a good fade. The price is fantastic and I will usually spend around $20-$24 for a haircut depending on the services requested excluding tip. For the quality I consistently get I think this is a great price. Lastly, I wanted to shout out Timothy the barber specifically as he has really gone above and beyond to give me the cut I want and really takes pride in his work. I have gone to much more expensive barbershops in the past and he for sure would give them a run for their money. I don't usually have a barber preference but I for sure ask for him when I see he's in the shop. read more

I don't have an issue with the barbershop but I have gotten two horrible haircuts and yesterday was the last straw for me. I asked for a half inch off and she cut probably 2 1/2 inches off my head and now I'm left with almost a buzz cut For my holiday vacation. Once had to go back and have one haircut fixed the next day after tipping $20 on a $20 haircut. Yesterday I left an $18 tip but got a terrible haircut for it. If you go there choose the young girl in the middle because she gives great haircuts. Sorry I don't know her name. So... I have very long hair and I wanted it to be cleaned up around the ears right?.. Not in this barber shop. They cut all sides of my hair at least 1 and a half inches! They also cut the top of my hair very short, which I did not tell them to do. There was hair all over the floor and no one cleaned it up. Overall this place is absolutely terrible. read more

Ok this is exactly the way a barber shop should be run...great service, friendly atmosphere, personable barbers, talented and communicative, fast and a great price. Perfect experience today 10-out-of-10 all around. Very busy (and I can see why) but probably the best barber experience I have ever had. The Gentleman (Mario?) coordinating people at the front door (all while cutting a clients hair) was awesome getting people in quickly and efficiently and was super nice. Will 1000% be bac. Always busy in here but they're fast and proficient. You couldn't get a bad hair cut here even if you requested it! Mario the owner is a genuinely nice dude, and his staff has been with him for a long time. My buddy brought me here a while back and now I refuse to get my haircut anywhere else. IF YOU WANT A AWFUL HAIRCUT, then this place is for you! The white "barbers" In front of the shop should not be allowed to cut hair. Asked this dude for a trim and he gave me a buzz cut like the military. He literally just went around my head with the clippers once. Didn't bother taking his time (since nobody was in his seat) and expected a tip! Plus nobody had masks on and this dude was coughing everywhere!! Don't recommend them but maybe the females. No one wearing a mask, my barber had his mask on when I sat down (I was wearing one) but the second he was 20% done he took it off because more customers came in not wearing masks (they were just sitting and talking with other workers). I felt dirty leaving the shop and I'm afraid I might get infected. Also, their prices are way to high for just a trim and the fact that it's cash only I had to withdraw money and accrue a 2 dollar atm fee. read more
