We're still relatively new to the area so this was our first time visiting. The restaurant is very clean and bright. A very sweet gentleman told us we could sit anywhere and brought us menus right away. He took our drink order and came back a few minutes later to take our dinner orders. Well, I saw they had red sangria on the menu and after the day I had, I needed that desperately!! Absolutely delicious!! I can't say enough good things about their sangria!! I opted for linguine with meat sauce and also asked for a couple of meatballs. Hubby ordered the meatball parm. Our salads arrived with a beautiful side of garlic bread - still warm with just the right amount of crunch!! Let me say this - their sauce is right up there with mine!! Not too sweet and not at all acidic!! A huge bowl of pasta and sangria was exactly what I needed and they did not disappoint!! Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his meatball parm with a side of penne. I got 2 heros, a chicken parm and eggplant parm. The eggplant was great, the chicken was extremely disappointing. Mostly bread and cheese. The chicken was a very tiny piece of chicken. The little piece of chicken didn't even taste like they make it in the restaurant. I called to tell the restaurant about the lack of meat. The person on the phone told me to come back so they could make another one. Unfortunately I'm 20 minutes away from this restaurant and got the sandwiches on my way home. I explained that to the person so they offered me 10% off my next order. I dont think 10% makes up for a $12 sandwich that was unacceptable. read more

In Middletown visiting Grammy and she wants pizza! So I just picked up a plain pie and a side of calamari. My sis says Carlos is good, close and said get a plain pie. The pie was on time, hot as can be, I drove it home and we very much enjoyed. Good sauce, good cheese, and the Calamari was fresh and fried nicely. What can I say about this amazing restaurant! Carlos has fed my family dinner on multiple occasions when I have been slammed at work. I've called them as late as 2 PM and have been able to pick up a half tray of chicken, marsala or chicken piccata or some other delicious chicken or eggplant item within two hours that graciously feeds my family of five and then some. Their food is fresh and delicious and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. I used to come here often when it was run by the previous owners, but unfortunately the pizza crust has no texture to it at all, and the sauce has no flavor to it now. They must have changed the brand of flour that they use because it was crumbly like a cookie and tasted as if they forgot to put yeast in the dough and had no gluten at all. Bought a pie opened the box at the parking lot. To my surprise 2 slices were folded onto each other. So those slices had the cheese on the bottom of the slice. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I could not eat there when I wanted food from Carlo's. We ordered ahead and picked it up. The staff was friendly and very careful about handling the food and payment. The food was amazing. I had the eggplant parmigiana and my daughter had the manicotti. The food was plentiful, too much to eat. I saved the sale for lunch the next day and had no room for the delicious garlic bread. Every bite was a taste of perfection. So I work in the food business and I made pizza and Italian food from age 14-30. I swore by my first job and another place in town, but I cant any more. Ive been picking up or getting delivery from Carlos for years now, but finally had time to talk shop with the pizza maker tonight. I decided to review the place and say to you what I told him. I have been eating out frequently to support local restaurants in this pandemic. I am quite disappointed in most places. I feel that, with places closing, there should be an uptick in talent in the industry, since that's how things work, but the majority of places disappoint. Carlos, on the other hand, not only has never disappointed, they have gone above and beyond to satisfy the customer. They have the highest level of consistency and quality in the area. They also have the friendliest staff that you could imagine. While I have not drank at the bar or eaten in the dining room due to the pandemic, they are beautifully built. I could not recommend them highly enough. And while I place them at the top of the heap for Italian in this town, their consistency and service cannot be beat by any type of food establishment. So, I ordered a pizza with extra cheese, pepperoni & sausage all extra toppings costing a dollar more, got no problem with that. The problem I have is when you charge the same amount for one half onion and the other half mushrooms. That charge should have been fifty cents each, not the same charge as for a full pie. Then you tell me I have to order garlic knots or you can't deliver my pizza which is BS. The garlic knots were so gross we threw them out. They were burnt, dry and had no flavor what so ever!! Then you tell me I have to select a time and I pick 7:15 and you say no can do, so I go to 7:30. The pizza arrives at 7:45 and it's ICE COLD!! We are within a mile of your place. Don't ask for a time if you can't deliver!! Why do I keeping giving you chance after chance. I order from Joey's across town and my pizza comes here at least semi hot but that's understandable since they are further away. This place just opened within the last month, and as neighborhood locals this is a hole in one for us! There is a pizzeria and kitchen and also a full bar. Staff is friendly and on top of service, the drinks are well made and the food is delicious! If you knew the deli this used to be, you'll be blown away to see the difference now. Clean, great atmosphere, lots of tables and booths available and a full menu of wraps, sandwiches, subs, paninis, seafood, pasta and plenty more.
