Good prices - my wife and I originally went in to rent bikes so we could enjoy the open air and explore Carlsbad and Oceanside but opted for the golf cart instead. I wanna give them more stars because of the convenience of them being right down the street from where I am but the times I've taken my bike in, I was given wrong pricing upon check in, and a higher price upon pick up and check out. A few months back I needed to take my bike in for a tune up soon so I stopped by and asked the repair guy for a price and he told me $129.99. A month later I finally took my bike in for the tune up and was told the price is $149.99 because price increases. Picked my bike up a few days later when it was done and they told me the price is now $169.99. I told the guy that I was quoted $149 and he said he doesn't know why I was told that because they raised prices recently but he still honored the $149 price. The most recent was I took my bike in for a new tire. I was told upon drop off it will be $69. Shortly after, they called me said I also needed new rear brakes which would be an additional $70- I accepted the price. Total should've been $140. Today I picked the bike up and the amount due at pickup was $192. I asked why and they said there was an additional $38 in labor for the tire and $14 liquid sealant added, none of which I was told about, nor did they mention the liquid sealant being an optional thing or not. They need to be more transparent with their pricing when discussing with customers. I was told $69 for a tire replacement, so how did it become $121 at checkout? And why did they tell me total price for brake replacement with labor but not the total price of tire replacement? read more

The sales rep Kaylor was great. I had reviewed a couple of cheaper bikes online and was slightly familiar with a few more expensive models but had never been on an ebike or even seen one up close. They explained everything and I got to test them and ride in the parking lot. I'm old school and grew up on a 10 speed bike. And my son had been begging for a family bike ride. I ended up getting a great bike at a great price with all the accessories. It was set up for me and I took it home the same day. They have delivery of it doesn't fit in your car. We had a really good experience at Carlsbad e-bikes. Dave helped us and he was friendly and knowledgeable about the exact bike I wanted. He even showed me a matching helmet which is so cute! I only have one complaint which I didn't realize until after I left the shop. They charged me $125 on top of the cost of the bike for "assembly". we bought a model that was already assembled on the floor. And had a few miles on it. I feel like something like this should just be a write off for the shop. We could've "assembled" it ourselves if we had ordered it online from the manufacturer. But I do LOVE my new bike. read more

These guys are legit but slow as dirt when you need your e-bike tuned up. Expect to not have your bike back for a week. They will tell you 3-5 days but nope., longer. I can get my car tuned up in two hours, but this place takes full week to tune up a bike. read more

I love this bike shop!! I had to get my Aventon e-bike repaired and they were amazing!! It did take about 3 weeks for my bike to be repaired, but that's because I wanted all OME parts and that took a little bit for them to get (shipping). I worked primarily with a man named "Anderson" and he was the best!! He was super nice, friendly, knowledgeable and answered all of my really annoying questions patiently and with a smile! When I picked up my bike, another employee saw me struggling to get my bike put in my car and he graciously came over and said, "would you like some help?" and he taught me a easier way to load my bike! I couldn't have been more grateful!! So! My whole experience from start to finish was great!! The shop itself if really cool. They have a ton on bikes for purchase and to rent. Just buy your e-bike here! These guys are the best in SoCal! I did tons of research and visited every e-bike vendor south of Oceanside and these guys really took care of me. I had a very specific need for an e-bike and David (Chief of Sales, look for the super nice guy in a baseball hat & shorts) spent a long time with me, asking me questions, listening to my requirements and I ended up with exactly what I needed for the right price. Fantastic guy. The bike worked perfectly, it never let me down for what I needed it for. However, about 6 months in, the bike had some technical issues so I brought it in. I handed it off to their main tech, Diego (look for the other super nice guy in a baseball hat and shorts). Dude was as motivated to fix that bike as a tick in a sasquatch and would routinely call me personally with updates. It was amazing. He discovered a few bugs and worked with the manufacturer to get them patched. Then he found a few a more bugs and he worked with David to offer me a replacement bike. They did all the legwork with the manufacturer, I did nothing. Then they offered me more options if I wanted to change brands as well. I went down and ended up with a better bike, got some money refunded, and David showed me how to register the new e-bike with the manufacturer who had a special deal going on. With this deal, I got, (no joke), about $700 worth of free accessories (rack, back seat, extra battery, storage stuff and more). So, yeah. Best local neighborhood bike store in SoCal FOR SURE. You'll be taken care of. Never going anywhere else. Support these guys. read more

Friendly efficient bike rental shop. We rented two Pedago electric beach cruisers and used them to go up and down the coast highway to a bit beyond UCSD and back (45 miles round trip). Staff explained the bikes well and they were easy to use - power assist level 1-6 adjustable on the left side, Shimano gear changer and electric power throttle twist on the right. I never used more than the 3 power assist and pedaled constantly except on downhill grades. She would go on pure power at times and cranked it up to 4 even 5 occasionally. Her bike ran out of power at about the 35 mile mark so I switched with her. Mine kept going to whole 45 miles and used up only 2 out of 5 battery indicator bars - not sure why the discrepancy in range even given that she used more power than I did. One of the staff thought it was because her bike wasn't charged up entirely the other thought it was just because we went such a long distance. Without electric power assist beach cruisers are definitely not the way to go for long distances - need more like a racing road bike. Beach cruiser seats are just never that comfortable for long distances either. But with power assist - uncomfortable seat or no - these things make the uphill from Torrey Pines State Beach to the Scripps Clinic seem like nothing, and I was on only level 3 power assist pedaling the whole way. I've done that hill many times on a regular non power racing bike and it's far from a breeze. A tie on basket they gave us flew off - along with our lunch which was lost all over the road - at one point. If you get a basket make sure it's attached securely. For the battery loss and the basket mishap they gave us 10% off the rental with came to $145 total (they add sales tax - even though it is a rental) for two bikes all day. We weren't gone all day was more like 5 hours but anything beyond a 4 hour rental you're better off paying for all day. It's a good outfit with caring bike enthusiastic staff. read more

My family was on vacation and staying in Carlsbad a couple of weeks ago. We had hoped to rent a golf cart and electric bikes but did not arrive in time to comply with the two hour rental requirement. I recently bought an electric bike and wanted my daughter-in-law and on to have the experience of riding one. Dave spent an entire hour giving them the opportunity to ride in the parking lot and also to ride with my four-year-old granddaughter. He knew that we would be unable to return another day to ride due to commitments, yet he gave us the attention one would expect if were buying electric bikes. Despite the disappointment of not being able to ride around Carlsbad, this hour was one of the best of our vacation because of Dave's kindness and attentiveness. Diego and his service team are top notch. If you need something fixed or installed, I recommend them. I recently needed work on 2 road bikes that I couldn't manage--install Look pedals with damaged threads, and remove a cassette that was frozen that I could not break loose. They did it quickly and expertly. I am confident to take my bikes there for service--ebikes and road bikes. Note that while the store sells mostly e-bikes (good selection!), the service department can and does repair/tune any bike. read more

Took my daughter's Super 73 in because the brakes weren't working and wasn't sure if I needed new pads or just an tuneup. Kayden (sp?) had a look, said the brakes looked fine and just needed to be adjusted. A few turns here and there and I was on my way, no charge!
