I had never been to a chiropractor prior to Dr. Carlson. I had several accidents (auto, water, kid-related, etc.) growing up and as an adult and as a result, had pretty bad migraines. I took Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Advil, Aspirin, and countless other OTC meds...a lot. In fact, every day...sometimes all day long, if I was having a "bad day." I had some sort of bottle of pain reliever in every frequented spot (desk at home, desk at work, my car, husband's truck, bathroom cabinet, kitchen cabinet, in my purse, etc.). I absolutely could not function if the migraines took hold. I don't think I was ever without neck pain and at least a mild headache...the meds were to keep the pain to a dull roar. I had tried my MD, but he offered no solution and just prescribed the heavy duty meds...but I was unable to function as a mother, wife, employee, etc. on those drugs...so my stint with prescription meds was short lived. Then I went to work for Dr. Carlson and he went to work on my neck. Within 3 months, I was only taking pain relievers to get started in the morning (my neck/head being the worst after tossing and turning all night)...with the occasional "bad day." Before much longer, I was able to get right up (most mornings) and start my day without any pain relievers. And finally...I had a new normal. What had become my life (neck pain, headaches, migraines, pain relievers, interrupted sleep, etc. etc. etc.) was now in the past. Oh I do occasionally get a headache...but like a normal person...few and far between. I would recommend chiropractic to anyone...and I would recommend my doctor, Dr. Carlson, to everyone. It was a life-changer for me and my family, not only because they benefited from me becoming pain free...but they too have all seen Dr. Carlson for one reason or another. When my neck couldn't move a bit and had to roll myself off of bed on a Saturday morning, I Googled to find a nearby chiropractor that could take me in. Most of them were closed of course and the earliest one to open was Dr. Carlson. He was God-sent! He gave me a very mild adjustment based on the x-ray and diagnosis and asked me to go back again in a few hours. I was very emotional when I couldn't really do much with such severe pain and could only lay down in bed, but after the second adjustment I was able to move a little more and continued to host the 1-yr birthday dinner for my baby girl that evening with a soft neck support. I went back diligently 2-3 times a week for 8 weeks to get my neck, shoulder and upper back treated. Along with the exercise they showed me, the movement on my neck has improved drastically, X-ray tells it all. With several additional weeks of treatment as I want to not only resolve the neck issue but to sustain a healthy living, my neck has improved to as good as I could get. Pinched nerves were gone, neck was moving normally, and the number of headaches that I used to get have reduced drastically. I believe in chiropractor, but only with the right Doc. I have experienced back pain for many years and recently began having neck pain as well. Dr. Carlson came to our school one day and I made an appointment--just to see how it went. Even after my consultation, I was not totally convinced chiropractic care was for me, but the out-of-pocket expenses were reasonable enough to give it a try. I began with adjustments amd muscle stimulation and began to feel better. I finally decided I would try spinal decompression and I can feel the difference after each treatment. My posture is greatly improved and though I still experience some pain or discomfort when I overdo things, it is considerably less intense and fades quickly. I am glad I decided to try chiropractic care, especially with Dr. Carlson. I have had ongoing back pain for a couple weeks now and I have tried almost everything and this point I was willing to try anything for some kind of relief. I google south Austin chiropractors and #1 was carlson chiropractor so I called and the receptionist was very thorough over the phone for new patient prices and said they conveniently have weekend hours as well. I wanted to call around and when I did everyone else seem to be to busy to answer any questions as well as acknowledge that I was in pain. So this morning I called and they fit me in immediately. When walking in I was graciously greeted by the receptionist with a smile and a great attitude. Did my paperwork then the dr came out greeted me in the lobby brought me back did my exam with a smile. He explained everything to me with the ease of understanding his fancy words :-) plus his pictures and diagrams and what he could do for me as far as treatment. I met Dr. Carlson at my employer's health and wellness conference. I scheduled an appointment with him and received a free consultation. I reported a dull pain in my lower back and neck that I learned to live with over the past three years. Dr. Carlson encouraged me to work with him and start feeling good again. My son and I have been going to Carlson Chiropractic for eight years. That is when I started suffering from occasionally severe back pain--it sometimes felt like I was in labor! I fell on a Friday morning and my left shoulder hurt badly. I called the doctors on my insurance lists because I am fairly new to this area, I started calling the first one listed. The first 5 I called I got an answering machine and asked me to leave a message. I didnt. I feel that a doctors office that won't answer the phone can't care about their patients. Dr. Carlson is wonderful! He implements a holistic approach to treating acute and chronic pain in a way that I've never had before!
