I cannot speak more highly of Forest as a chiropractor. I first saw Forest when a disc slipped in my neck, he fit me in within a matter of a couple of hours. That was almost 3 years ago. I have seen a lot of chiropractors in the last 6 years as I have moved from city to city and I can say that while many of them practiced the craft, I can tell that Dr. Peltan feels this out as an art. He makes my adjustments smoothly and without force every time. He doesnt feel the need to use electric stem or to overstretch muscles and he is extremely gentle. Dr. Peltan is wonderful! I've been seeing him for a few years now off and on as I've had flair ups. He is wonderful about listening to patients and working with them on their individual needs. Other chiropractors I've been to did not make me feel that they wanted to help with preventative measures like stretching or physical therapy exercises -- it was snap, crackle, pop and then a high pressure sale for supliments or some other treat the symptom thing. None of them would work with me when I didn't have insurance anymore. Dr. Peltan is reasonably priced and will work with you if you are uninsured, and more than that, he seems to genuinely care about you. When you talk to them on the phone they make you fell like they can help you. Like they have a Thompson drop table. So when you get there early to do paper work before they open at 3pm no one is there is welcome you in. All I could see was a Massage sign outside one door and a chiropractor signs out side another. It make it kind of hard to go which door to enter in. Just all the door locked like of creepy. Then when they finally get there. The guy did not even look a chiropractor or the person in there picture. Then when you walk in it does not even look like a chiropractic office. The table was in the middle of the room so you have to get adjusted in front of everyone why can't you get your own room?? Also it was not even a chiropractic table it was a massage table. What if other people walk in. Then the guys all like are you my insurance patient. They don't even right down what you are looking for. So that they know who you are. So when I said I did not want that and felt like I was in the place I walked out but he said coke back in but then he said you are right just leave. So don't trust these people at all they talk a good game but they are unwelcome and unfriendly. read more

Another well-deserved 5 star review for South Austin Chiropractic! I've seen Dr. Peltan for the last month, 3 times a week currently. He is always gentle, exceptionally "in tune" with what is going on with my body, and genuinely enjoys what he does. When I told him it was my first time to visit a chiropractor, his eyes lit up with excitement and he pulled over his display spinal column to show me the works. He also sent me home with a nifty sheet which displays the spine, with each vertebra and associated nerves clearly labeled. Now, I am typically looking for a bargain. I have insurance, but Specialist fees are a bit ridiculous and often not do-able on a 3x a week basis. His price for a single adjustment out of pocket is great (way better than my insurance price), and if you buy one of three package options it gets even better. Needless to say, after my first adjustment I promptly purchased the largest package available (which is 50% off an already incredibly low price - no kidding). I'd also like to mention that they are very efficient and the entire experience takes no more than 30 minutes. Most times it takes a lot less. My first visit was obviously the longest. I called them up, booked an appointment for later that afternoon, and printed off the New Patient Forms from their website. I walked in, was assisted by the wonderful receptionist Jennifer, and waited my turn (I was early). One patient was being adjusted and another was waiting. Since I was new and had an appointment, and the person waiting was a walk-in regular adjustment, they offered for me to go next. I politely declined, I am a patient patient (hehe) and didn't mind waiting. Everyone, including the walk-in patient, was just so nice! Once my turn arrived (exactly on time for my appointment even though technically I waited for two others to be adjusted before me), Dr. Peltan asked me about what was going on. Then he explained to me what the spine is all about, and had a crack at me (couldn't resist)! It was ahhhmazing! I particularly enjoy the part where I lay on my side and he magically twists me and everything from base to neck cracks into place! Needless to say, his adjustments always leave me feeling excellent, with more energy than before. My back is clearly (to me) on its way to healing (at long last!!) and I cannot thank them enough for being so good to me! They are also very helpful with referrals to massage therapists of all varieties, acupuncture, yoga, and other practices that aid in an overall state of well-being! I am very cautious when it comes to adjustments. Every now and then I do something that causes chronic pain that will not heal on its own or through yoga. I've been going to see Dr. Peltan for over a year now. When I first came in, I had some stubborn low back pain that wouldn't resolve. I came in for adjustments frequently in the beginning, and they really helped a lot. I can't recall how long it took to get the back pain resolved, but it's a thing of the past. He also has done good work on my shoulder and knee. The adjustments are a good value. Dr. Peltan offers package discounts at a very reasonable price. He also moves fast, so I can get an adjustment and get on with my day very quickly. He's a friendly guy who knows his stuff and has a convenient location. Very good place. I started coming because I was suffering from back pain for about a year and a half. During my fire academy it started to flare up again due to the various movements and strenuous work we have to do. I was diagnosed accurately and I am able to come in on a very flexible time schedule with the Doctor. Right now I feel very comfortable with any of the activities I have to do (squatting, deadlifting, max out effort movements) after going for just 3 weeks. A wonderful find. My chiropractor left the country temporarily to be with and take care of family. He was gracious enough to connect me with Dr. Peltan at South Austin Chiropractic. I have been to more than 30 chiropractors, all in Austin, since approximately 1989. I was blessed to be informed of the critical benefits of chiropractic almost 30 years ago and have received tremendous benefit from every chiropractor I have ever been to. My current doctor and his friend, Dr. Lee, that referred me to him are the ONLY 2 chiropractors I have ever been to that provide a much softer, gentler adjustment. I was quite surprised the first few times about how gentle the movements and pulls and pushes were, so much in fact that I intentionally paid extra attention to how everything felt between adjustments. I was having a hard time believing that these movements, as gentle as they were, would be as helpful as all the other chiropractors I have ever been to. I am THRILLED to be able to say that this light force treatment is at least as beneficial and much less harsh jerking of the body. Normally I don't like writing reviews, positive or negative and it is my habit to avoid offering, but this time I will: If you are having back problems you can certainly do no better than having Dr. Forest Peltan to work on your spine. I've been to many chiropractors around the country, and am happy to say that you will be lucky to get to meet Forest and have him fix you. He is kind, thoughtful, and professional, and most of all, he has an incredible intuitive talent to figure out what's going on with your spine and will carefully inspect and adjust you, to help you get back to where you are supposed to be. It's good to talk with him and let him know what's going on with you, although I must say that even if you were mute and Forest was blind, he'd probably figure out your troubles and help you back to your path of good and balanced spine. Over the years, he has helped me with different problems, once when I wrecked on my bike and smashed in my rotator cuff, and each time I've had to see him for different issues, his adjustments were versatile and spot-on, depending on what was needed. If you're looking for a barber who knows 3-4 haircuts and will try put one of those on you - this is not Forest. If you're looking for a chiropractor with alot of expensive machines and gadgets and gimmicks, you're not going to find this with him either - rather what you will find is raw talent combined with original care and excellent technique - with Forest, you will find an Artist.
