We recently purchased a mini-van (I didn't choose the mini-van life, the mini-van life chose me) at this CarMax. And I would have given more stars immediately after the browsing, test-driving, and purchasing process, but what proceeded afterwards was a bit annoying and marred the experience. First we went in to have our old car evaluated to see how much money we could get towards a trade-in deal. Those quotes are good for a week, so after getting the value, we thought about things and browsed CarMax online for a week. We did a free online transfer of a vehicle we were intersted in and exactly a week after going in the first time, we went in again to test drive and hopefully buy a new car if all went well. Everything up to this point went smoothly, and the customer service was helpful but not jump down your throat force you to buy, etc. The lady working with us was very friendly and forgiving of our young son's shenanigans while we sat and went through paperwork. However, after all was signed and we actually took van home, the paperwork needed to be transferred somewhere to have my dad sign (he was still technically co-owner of my old car) and then sent back, so they told me it had arrived at first destination and to tell my dad to go in and sign, but he drove all the way to the local CarMax and found it closed for Hurrican Florence. How did the Charlottesville branch not know this if they knew it had arrived at that store? So my dad wasted his time, but not too big of a deal, he went in again when the store re opened a few days later. Papers sent away apparently to come back to Charlottesville and everything should be all done. Except the papers somehow got lost in transit? How do they not put insurance or priority on mail that contains important documents like this? So even though we'd done everything, now we needed to wait for documents again and re-sign everything and then send back. Basically, we got our car and had fine customer service on the front end, but things seemed unorganized and annoying (so many calls back and forth about the paperwork mishaps, etc) afterwards. Nothing really went wrong, but when you're buying a car you don't want to feel like things are falling apart after you've signed the contract. If you want a used car, I'd still recommend CarMax, and hopefully we were the exception and they aren't usually so disorganized and careless with paperwork, but just beware, I guess buying a car is always going to feel a bit stressful. read more

Normally anything having to do with cars makes me want to run in the other direction - CarMax made selling my car incredibly easy. My husband and I recently moved from the DC metro area to Charlottesville and after only a month we realized that it didn't make sense for us to have two cars since I walk to work and that we'd ultimately rather sell mine. I was nervous about the whole process and the paperwork involved especially since I had over 2 years left on the loan, the car was registered in Maryland (and in my maiden name) and the registration was set to expire in a few weeks. The staff at CarMax could not have been more pleasant, helpful, and kind to me. They explained what extra paperwork I'd need handy to make the process smooth and I got more money than I expected to get for my car (the best news!). We ended up having to go back a second time since I was missing my marriage certificate (to prove why the name on my title was different than on my Driver's License) but it was such an incredibly easy process. They also were not pushy at all trying to get me a car to buy that day (something I was also concerned about). I only had to explain once that we were trying to downsize to a single car and they never asked about it again. My husband and I had such a positive experience selling we are already thinking that we'll be back in a few years to trade in his car when the time comes to buy a new one and we may buy from them because of how positive the experience was. read more

Horrible experience. They sold me a vehicle that immediately needed repairs (took it to a mechanic for check over the next day) but CarMax did do these repairs. However, it needed the same repairs within 1.5 years (very expensive ones). After many phone calls CarMax did assign a person to help with warranty repairs and issues but the problem is they assigned 2 different people and the constant phone calls with both people on my case got very time consuming and caused a great deal of missed work. Then it needed a transmission which was a whole ordeal with the warranty company and the two different points of contact. Then I tried to trade in this vehicle and the next car they tried to sell me I took to a mechanic prior to buying it. The mechanic said the rotors were very rusted and the entire bottom of the car was rusted. And the radiator was cracked and needed to be replaced. I left and will never go back. The next place I went to (Honda) has Certified Preowned Vehicles which means it has been reconditioned to factory standards. Do not go to CarMax. read more

Very pleasantly surprised... I have to admit, I HATE buying cars (actually I love buying cars, what I HATE is the process). I can't stand anything resembling "Will you be buying or leasing your new car today William?" "What would it take to get you into this car and drive it home today William?" Etc... Ugh. And, even once the sale is done, you get the "I have to offer you the extended Carpet insurance, service contract, wheel and tire insurance, paint and chip insurance, loaner/rental program insurance, locust plague and pestilence insurance, loose bowel coverage, lost manual coverage, blah blah blah. I actually tell them now that if they even pull out so much as a brochure on ANY after sale program during the closing, that I will walk. And I have. Now, having said all that, I experienced none of it at CarMax. Gentle sales consulting, easy computer Q&A to compete the deal sheet, handshake, drive off. It's like this place was MADE FOR ME and me alone -- that's right -- all y'all stay away, this is MY dealership :-) Very happy with the car and the way my wife and I were treated. I don't buy new cars (let some other sap take the first year depreciation and give me the $10K discount). I think I have found the perfect place to do just that. They even removed the CarMax sticker on the rear of the car when I asked without putting up a stink. Ever tried that before at Brown's or Umansky? They try to tell you there is some Cosmic Universal Space Treaty prohibiting them from touching their dealership sticker... LoL. Turns out it can be done easily :-) read more

We have been looking for a replacement vehicle. Sunday morning before church we were looking on the Carmax site and found a 2018 Ford Escape that was in the high end of our price range but fit our needs. Nowhere on the website did it say you needed to make an appointment or there was an hour wait. After church, we arrived 15 minutes before opening. We waited in our vehicle for them to open. When we entered the showroom 5 salesmen were waiting, we were the only customers walking in. The salesman who was "up" greeted us and my husband showed him the picture of the vehicle we were interested in purchasing. ( In all fairness, he had no way of knowing my husband has worked in the auto industry as a salesman, F & I, mechanic, and service writer for over 25 years and that he can test drive a vehicle in a very short time know if it's what he wants or not. Also that we were cash buyers) The salesman merely asked if we had an appointment. We replied we did not. He then explained it would be an hour wait and we could have a seat. My husband asked him if he wanted to sell a car today or not, since there were still no other customers in the showroom and all 5 salesmen were still standing around...He said, it was the rules and they had lots of appointments that day and that was how it was. My husband turned to me and said, we are done let's go. We left. I do see the Escape is still available. I guess they weren't interested in selling that car. Possibly they had many others they sold that day. It certainly does not indicate customer service when your time is so unvalued. I could see if they had 5 12 PM appointments and the potential customers were trickling in. However, when we went to our car, the parking lot was still void of incoming traffic. read more

I'd like to start off by saying, I have never written a review for any business before. I would rather accept that bad things happen sometimes than complain. However, my experience at Carmax in Charlottesville is something I need to share. The car I purchased was a 2013, and I'm aware older cars are going to come with maintenance concerns. That is fine! When I got home the car was suddenly making a weird sound. I also noticed that my center console where you plug in your car accessories was not working at all as well as the lights to the gear shift. The real issue is seeing my hubcap in my rearview mirror flying in the distance as I drove down the highway. About a week or 2 later, my AC also went out. I called Carmax and scheduled an appointment a few weeks out and they said they would take care of it. I appreciated them accepting responsibility for the condition of the car and doing what I thought was fair to remedy the situation. While I waited for my appointment day to come around, I started smelling a burning smell whenever I drove. I think it's important to note that I work from home and this vehicle's main purpose is really to get me to the grocery store or travel to a friend's house on the weekends. While turning into a parking space at a store, THE CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF. I called Carmax and told them about what was happening, and they were of no help and told me that it is MANDATORY for me to return this car.. almost an hour away back to Charlottesville even though it is shutting off while in use. At this point, I felt like Carmax did not care about my safety. I ended up taking the risk and made the trip to Charlottesville in an unreliable vehicle. The car did shut off a few times during the drive, but I got there. When I walked into Carmax I told them I wanted to return the car because I was experiencing issues and we began the return process. Nobody asked me what issues I was experiencing, but I did offer the information to which they responded "don't worry the vehicle has to pass an inspection to be put back on the lot." RED FLAG - I just purchased this car 3 weeks ago and it made it through that inspection. Are they just going to put it back on the lot if it passes and the next person must deal with the same thing? While processing my return paperwork, one of the employees (the one who told me they didn't need to hear the issues with the car.. curly hair and glasses) came up to the table and told me I would be better off if I raised my price by a couple thousand dollars because the cars in my price range are not mechanically sound. I know my facial expression spoke volumes because my immediate thought was "Did this guy really just admit that the cars on the Carmax lot that are in my price range ARE NOT MECHANICALLY SOUND BUT THEY ARE STILL SELLING THEM" He continued telling me that if I raised my price range, I would be able to afford something better like a Honda. I just told this man "Well I never planned to be in a hit and run by a drunk driver that totaled my perfectly fine HONDA" to which he offered no sort of sympathy. A few minutes later another young woman walked up as I was looking at other cars in my price range. This woman told me Kia's are reliable cars and it is something I should consider given there was one on the lot. I mentioned my concerns with the cars being stolen and she said she would double check if this specific model had those safety concerns. I don't even remember her final answer, however she did tell me this concern could be addressed with my insurance company... All I could do is laugh because I am an auto claims adjuster and this is something I see in my day to day job and she really was standing behind the fact that this was okay for me to purchase. The last couple of minutes of my experience are not really a problem that I had with Carmax but just an inconvenience. I was told my down payment would be returned in 7-10 business days adding an extra week or so to me being able to purchase another MECHANICALLY SOUND CAR IN MY PRICE RANGE elsewhere. read more

So I buy a car Monday and have to replace two tires by Friday because of flats. Call CarMax saying we can't offer to pay full amount because that's under "maintenance" but we can pay half. You shouldn't have to pay for two tires not even a week after you purchase a car. On Monday when we purchased the car we were twice as long because the guy doing the application did not catch that he didn't put the value of or trade in the financing; the manager had to fix the issue. Also, when we went to do a down payment the associate did the payment as cash not debit so it took another 20 minutes to fix the mistake. So almost fours hours later we have a deal. Lastly make sure you do finance before you come into buy a car; I have a credit score of over 800 and the APR rates are outrageous! Go somewhere else to buy a car. read more

We went to carmax to have my fiances CRV appraised. No one as much as greeted us. We went to the front desk and let them know we were after an appraisal. They had us sit down and wait. The showroom was empty but we still sat in a waiting area for about 20-30 mins. I asked if we could begin giving them our information to expedite the process. one of the 3 people at the front desk (who were chatting amongst themselves) said that they couldn't. If I could leave zero stars I would. We reserved a car online, answered the phone call when they called for more info to confirm the reservation. The lady we spoke with said the system was acting funny, but she would call us if there were any problems. We waited a week, called to follow up and come to find out she had never processed the reservation and the vehicle had sold. Had to chime in when I saw reviews about CarMax purchasing people's cars. Their system, unless it changed since I last sold them a car, is super fair: They appraise your car, make you a firm offer that you can use for three days, and pay you if you use it. If not, you get a new appraisal. How can that be unfair? If the second one is not as good as the first, then you should have taken the first one. Markets change and so do those of a company that buys cars. Over the years, I have sold two cars to CarMax because of the top price they offered. On the flip side, if you want to buy there, you will usually pay more too (I have not yet bought a car from them). I have shopped CarMax and the process is a little odd, very structured and "corporate feeling" - a bit sterile, I'm guessing due to the need for procedural training at such a large company. I only gave five stars because of the higher prices, but my selling two cars there gets five stars. Easy and incredibly fast. read more

I'm going to try to make this short, but it's a bit of a saga, so go get some coffee. I have my share of fault in this, I am aware. Bought car exactly 2 years ago today. A Fiat. In the middle of central Virginia, I know. Had electrical issues from start, but they did take it to Harrisonburg to get fixed. Then, the right front headlight was out for a while apparently but the alert message never came up on the dash so that suggested a wiring issue, not a dead bulb. I got the service contract til 75,000 miles, so brought it in to get another bulb replaced and the headlight looked at. This was end of March. The tech tells me he just touched the headlight bulb and it went back on! YEA! Tells me all I need are two new tires, and he would throw a new inspection sticker on the car. I ask for any recommendations on tires, he says "no". July 3, Finally make it over the mountain to Walmart, as they are putting tires on I call Carmax service and explain that I have the new tires, but the right headlight has gone off again, and could I swing by and just tighten it so I can pass inspection, as now it's dead. Nope, the service tech on the phone wants to do a deep dive to see what it is, and then tells me it will be THREE WEEKS to get in. THREE. I did a long drawn out "FFFFFUUUU******KKKK" and explain that I have less than 100 miles til I hit 75,000 miles, also that I still have to go to work, pick up kids....he's no help. That was the best he could do. I couldn't possibly keep that appointment. Not drive more than 100 miles in three weeks?? C'mon, man. Here is the big burn. I called the 800 Carmax number to ask how they would know when the service contract was up so at least I would be paying less every month. NOPE! I still have to pay 280 a month. THE sales guy(Hunter? Forest? Walker?) did not let me know this. NOW, I had a plan that I didn't even get to use and I'm still paying for it...for 4 more years. Even worse, I casually ask the phone rep what happens if you service contract is about to expire and something goes wrong with the car and they give you a three week appointment? Tells me that I should have been instructed to take it ANYWHERE to get serviced and they would honor the service contract when then noted the miles. I was destroyed. Started crying. When really unfair shit happens, it goes deep. The headlamp is STILL out. Getting a Fiat fixed in Charlottesville is near impossible. Also, it has open recalls, so I guess I'm going to have to go to Harrisonburg or Richmond for this, as I just can't go back to Carmax. TL/DR DO NOT GET THE SERVICE CONTRACT. EVER. read more

So, I bought a car on Wednesday. Am I happy? No. Am I excited? No. I'm furious and I ended the afternoon crying in my living room. This could have been a good day, but instead the soul-less scumbags of the car sales industry had to make sure that I left that dealership feeling awful. I should have been the easiest sale in the history of car sales. I knew exactly what I wanted: a diesel VW wagon. I had my financing all set up through my bank. I walked into the dealership pretty much knowing that, unless the car smelled like vomit or dead bodies, I would probably buy it. I didn't expect to haggle over the price because it was Carmax. It should have been easy.  But no. No, they had to push for the up-sell. They just had to try and force me to take their financing instead of my bank. At double the interest rate! And that's when they started playing the games... The little 24 year-old sales girl told me she had to "check with the manager about how to get a check from my bank." Sure, because you've never done that before! And then they ask me if I want the warranty. No. I don't want the warranty.  "Let me just show you what your payment would be with the warranty..."  No, I don't want the warranty. Then she gets the manager again.  (Side Note: I don't blame the 24 year-old sales girl for any of this. She is doing exactly what she was trained to do. Aside from me -the customer- she's also the lowest-ranking person in this whole kabuki theater production.) So, she gets the manager again. I'm being stubborn and don't want their financing. Then, the manager insists they couldn't possibly wait for my bank to fed ex them a check. "We can't hold the car for you! Someone else could buy it!" I know he's just trying to manipulate me but I am already tired of the game. Reluctantly, even though I have said "No" several times, I agree to their "3 for Free" scheme. They prepare paperwork to send to my bank. They mess up the paperwork and list themselves as lienholder instead of my bank.  Then the manager tries to tell me, "Oh, it won't matter!" When my bank balks at the incorrect paperwork, the manager acts shocked to hear it. He just can't imagine why they're being so picky! I left the damn dealership and called my bank again. So, did I buy the car? Sort of. Remember the paperwork they screwed up? They had to fax a purchase and sales agreement to my bank, so I had to sign the purchase and sales agreement, which conveniently had THEIR name under the lienholder, obligating me to THEIR financing. So, technically, I kind of bought the car. They REALLY wanted me to drive their car off the lot that day. In my mind, I hadn't even paid for it yet. They pushed the keys into my hand 4 times to make sure I took them with me. They know that statistically, I am less likely to return the car if I take it home with me. By that point, however, I was already furious. I told them I was going to talk to my bank again and sleep on it. I drove my car home and left theirs on the lot. I called my bank when I got home. The woman I spoke to let me know that they were selling me the car for $2000 over NADA. I felt stupid. I had checked the NADA price for a 2011 model before I went to the dealership and I didn't think the price would be that different for the 2009. I was wrong. And even more mad than before. I called the dealership back and asked them about the price. The sales manager told me "Oh, but NADA is just a suggestion! A national average! The price of an individual car varies by market. Some markets are more expensive than others."  This is true. Some markets are more expensive. Like Manhattan. Or Los Angeles. WE'RE IN RURAL FREAKING VIRGINIA. This is not an expensive market.  Once again, I am reminded why I have been driving the same car for 13 years. It's because I LOATHE buying a car. I hope the entire industry dies. And not just because they charged me $2000 more than NADA. I hate them for trying to manipulate me and treating me like I'm stupid. Do you think we haven't caught on to your cheesy games? You've been using the same "I have to speak to my manager" trick since the Age of Disco! Do you think I don't know when someone is jerking me around? Guess what? I do. And THAT is why I have been driving a car so old it has leprosy and loses parts as it drives down the road. The best argument I can think of for a robust public transportation system is that it would mean more people wouldn't ever have to deal with you and your crappy industry of deceit and scumitude. Yes, I said "scumitude." I'm so angry, I made up a word to describe your profound lack of integrity. And the only thing consoling me is the thought that I probably won't buy another car until I belong to AARP. That's the nicest thing I can say about my car buying experience: With a little luck and proper maintenance, I will only have to deal with your industry once more before I die. I will not be purchasing a vehicle from Carmax because of the condescending/sexist service I experienced the afternoon of Friday, October 19, 2018. I am a 40 year old woman and I am knowledgeable about cars. I went to Charlottesville branch with my father that afternoon to test drive a Jeep Cherokee because I am considering purchasing another one (I owned one for 8 years and loved it). Igbrahim (sp?), an associate, approached me and my father as we sat in the lobby. Even though I stood up and said hello first, he immediately turned to my father and asked how he could help him. I interrupted and said, "I'm here to look at a Jeep Cherokee Laredo." My father then said, "Yes, I'm with her." We went to Igbrahim's desk and he began to locate a Jeep for me to drive. I began to explain what I was looking for and asked a few questions about the warranty for Jeeps. Again, Igbrahim seemed more interested in talking to my father than me. I mentioned to him at one point that I'd owned a Jeep before and Igbrahim said, "Well, jeeps have changed since then." At a later point in the conversation, my father chimed in and revealed that he and my mother both currently own jeeps. "So you want to drive a jeep because your parents have one?" Igbrahim asked me. I should have left then because it seemed like he wanted to antagonize me, but I stayed because I had already rearranged my schedule to make time for this test drive. On the lot, I asked a few questions before requesting that we test drive the vehicle. After Igbrahim returned with the key, he asked if I thought I could handle a vehicle like the Cherokee to which I said, "After owning one for 8 years, yes." Then he invited my father to sit in the front seat and told me to get in the back seat while he pulled the jeep out of the space. Incredulously, I said, "you want me to get in the back?" Igbrahim then said, "Yes, I doubt you can pull this Jeep out of this space." (Now, if it is company policy that salespeople pull the cars out of the space, that's fine. I don't understand the condescension.) Once I got in the back and he started to pull the jeep out of the space, he explained that he'd had to work on his parking for three years in order to master those types of turns. When he noticed that I was not saying anything, Igbrahim said, "I've made you mad, huh?" I answered and said, "You are talking too much." Igbrahim was silent for most of the test drive. Even when I did ask a few questions, he continued to direct his comments to my father. Once we arrived back at the store, I handed him the keys and prepared to leave. He made no effort to get follow up information and, at that point, the gesture would have been unnecessary. He knew that I would be continuing any dealings with him. I am writing this review to make Carmax and possible consumers aware of why I will not be dealing with them. read more

I Will Never Shop at Other Retail Auto Dealers Again. This was such a great experience. I am a single mom and have been researching for nearly a year, trying to decide on the perfect travel vehicle for my family. CarMax was WONDERFUL in having vehicles transferred to Charlottesville free of charge, with no obligation to purchase... letting us climb in and around them, test drive them, rule them out, and keep on looking... until we narrowed it down to THE ONE. Once I had decided on exactly what I wanted, Ginny conducted a nationwide search for me and found a Toyota Sienna AWD with every feature that i had on my wishlist... and had it transferred to Charlottesville... We fell in love instantly and were amazed that it was everything we wanted. And, the timing was perfect. The Sienna arrived Sunday morning, we test drove her Sunday afternoon, purchased her that evening.... took her home, packed her for spring break, and cruised away in bliss Monday morning, with the understanding that we could return her with their 100% refund guarantee when we got back, if she didn't work for us. Talk about a fabulous test drive. I felt safe on the road, and we had plenty of cargo space with lots of versatility for bodies and goods. We were sold on the vehicle and on Carmax. The employees were nice and helpful. The first week we got the car I had to jumpstart it three times and took it back to CarMax but they were too busy to look at it so they told me to go to autozone and they would reimburse me. Greeted quickly in a practiced friendly way. We were seeking to sell a car that was the same age as our young woman agent -- namely 22. She offered to drive us home a Carmax car, so we could hand it over right then. Car was taken for inspection, drive, etc and then we were shown on computer screen the OKs and the problems. The big problem, lowering their offer, was "damage to the frame" which surprised us since the car had never been in any accident. Husband politely asked to see this frame damage. After about five minutes, a different person appeared and said there had been a mistake. There was no frame damage. But that would not change their low offer. Worst service experience of my life!! Bought a car from them, bought warranty and now I needed service because both brakes were totally gone. Waited 3 hours while they looked at the car. No rental car, no loaner, as I had been promised. It is now day 2. They are reniging on warranty, they are refusing to reimburse for rental. They are the worst. Totally unethical. This is a highly reliable and efficient place to purchase a used car. The salespeople only receive commission for the number of cars they sell, not the cost, so it benefits them to listen to your needs and to help you find exactly what you are looking for, without trying to get you to purchase something you cannot afford. I felt confident that with the extensive and standardized Carmax inspection, I would be getting a dependable car without defects. They are transparent about the history and specs of each vehicle. The salesman I worked with at the Richmond branch was super helpful, and made sure that any car I requested to have transferred did not have any foul odors so that I did not waste my time waiting a week for the transfer to arrive. When I finally decided to make my purchase, the process was complete and I drove away with a full tank of gas in less than 2 hours. Their hours are very convenient for those who work long days, and they were well-staffed even on a busy weekend. The staff takes their time to give you the info you need, but doesn't waste your time pressuring you into warranties or anything you are not interested in. Not thrilled or impressed. I won't go into how disappointed we were with the condition of the vehicle we were interested in - not what I've ever seen at a CarMax. I will focus more on the ATTITUDES of the sales people - I think they need some retraining in customer service. So we interacted with like 6 people in 2 visits and 1 phone call. It would be nice if u could go through the process with 1 person. Nic and Melissa were nice and tried their best to be helpful. BUT Mark whom I spoke with on the phone had an attitude from word one - to the point that I wanted to call him out for it but I wanted his help so I bit my tongue. We dealt with Melissa on one of our two visits - but.....in the midst of our process I guess it was time for her to go home (?) really?? So she turned us over to smart mouthed Justin. To get away from his attitude without being ugly we just decided this really was not a place we wanted to do business with and chose to leave. We recently purchased a 2012 Honda CR-V from Chase Urban! I can't rave enough about our experience at CarMax and how easy the whole process was! I have had the car dealership experience before with purchasing my first car and it was horrible! I wasn't very knowledgeable at the time and was definitely taken advantage of. I ended up purchasing a 2010 Hyundai Elantra and paying more than I should have. I also got screwed on the warranty (it expired before I could even use it!). So I was looking forward to going to CarMax because I know that they are known for the non-car salesman atmosphere. We met Chase who was just awesome! So down to earth and honestly just there to help us find a car and not worried so much about making a sale. We ended up trading in our car and purchasing our 2012 CR-V and we are so happy with this decision. Chase made the whole process easy and we were involved every step of the way. I especially like how they show you the financing offers from all of the lenders and you choose together what the best fit is for you. That is definitely not how it is at a dealership. They choose the lender in the back and then come out and say this is what we can offer! Chase was very knowledgeable about the cars and was able to answer any questions we had! Overall our experience was amazing! And I can tell you that I will never ever go back to a dealership to purchase a car! I will be going to CarMax for all of my future purchases and services! First of all, I was dreading getting my car appraised for fear it would take much longer than what was presented on the CarMax website (30 minutes). My Sunday plans ended up being canceled so I thought, why not? I'll drive the car I wanted to sell to CarMax with my dog, drop it off, then walk home (less than a half mile) to get my other car and drive back to fill out paperwork etc. I pulled up and walked in the door (left my dog in the car with it running), and was greeted by three associates, specifically Cindy who promptly came outside, ooh'd and aah'd over my dog for a moment then insisted I bring her in with me to begin the paperwork process. Every employee there stopped to say hi and was exceptionally friendly. This is SO rare nowadays! After a few minutes of discussing logistics, Cindy informed me it would take 30 - 40 minutes for a professional to appraise my car so I began walking home and returned about 45 minutes later. I was greeted with the same friendly service, paperwork was filled out quickly and easily, and I was home within an hour. So often I forget to write a business review when there's a positive experience, but this was an A+ service experience that truly made for a great Sunday. Yes they did call and ask me when I want to set up an appointment to come down and have work done. However, I can make an appointment anywhere. Please do not try and make it seem like your company has gone above and beyond to make this right. The fact remains that I have had these inconveniences with you all and it's ridiculous. If I were to miss a car payment I would have someone one the phone immediately and no one would care what excuses I make. Same goes for your company. I don't think it's right that a company can make excuses and do whatever they want but a hard working customer is expected to accept whatever. If you think your one phone call and yelp post is good customer service I feel bad for future customers and you have a lot to learn. I know there are people that troll the internet and complain over minor petty annoyances. However, when someone posts real customer service issues I think people should be aware. All I can say is seeing is believing people. read more

STAY AWAY!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! Went into the dealership to sale my like new/spotless SUV and to purchase a car that was located at another CARMAX location. I was informed that the vehicle would be transferred from the Maryland to Charlottesville lot in a few days. So to avoid another car payment on a low ball offer and let them have my car. After 5 days and no word regarding the arrival date I contacted CARMAX to find why was it taking so long for my new car to be transferred 130 MILE!!! A few days later I was informed that the car was just set up for pickup and was scheduled to ship. Four days later the car arrived!! I refused the car and by now my almost like new 2016 TAHOE had been transferred to a Richmond CARMAX and the no haggle price was $6,000 more than what I was paid. Bottom line they low ball you on the offer for your car then set their price a little below high retail. read more
