I had a wonderful experience with Colonial Nissan Parts in Virginia, in particular, Barry Richards. He was responsive and honorable. I ordered 2 front rotors and pads but the box was torn upon arrival. I was a bit concerned but he assured me there would be no issues and they would stand behind their products. I never got to the rotors/pads until a YEAR later when i noticed i was missing a rotor. It was my fault for not checking. I reached out to Barry about this discovery and thinking, how absurd this will sound to him. I really did not expect him to answer but Barry emailed me back AND called me to ascertain my address for the new rotor to be sent. Incredible! I cannot believe how decent and gracious he was. Worst customer service I have ever experience!! They made a repair to my blower motor and returned it to me knowing something was still wrong. They even charged me a 2nd diagnosis fee in order for me to retrieve me vehicle. The total on a repair I was charged twice for ended up costing over $1,000.00. Run from this business!! read more

The hubs & I were on the hunt for a good deal on a car. When we first started looking, we drove through the lot at Colonial Nissan and met Clay. We didn't even get out of the car that time, but Clay greeted us at my car window. I was writing my email down on his card to send me some info on cars, and I commented on liking his pen. Clay followed up with an email, and we chatted back and forth for a few days. I was hesitant to come back to colonial nissan because I was convinced that I'd get a better deal in nova. Clay got us back to the lot. Long story short, Clay was wonderful. Great personality. He answered all of our questions. The ones he didn't have the answer for, he found out the answer. He worked with us to get us a deal that we were comfortable with. My cell phone was dying, and I needed to check on my teenager, so Clay found me a charger. Just relocated to Charlottesville from out of state and needed to get my car state inspection done. After searching through Yelp for recommendations that didn't pan out (Jiffy Lube does not do inspections, NTB requires you to drop off your car for 3-4 DAYS, other places don't have an opening for several weeks), I decided to see about just taking it to a dealership. I scheduled an appointment on Colonial's website, took it in a couple days later and it was done in 30 minutes! No upselling, just friendly service AND fresh Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. Overall, this was a very pleasant experience. The people working at the dealership were kind and professional--especially Joselyn. I had a small issue with the car - the ceiling had a very subtle spot, but I was not happy with it. Scott got one of his guys from Richmond to re-dye the area and now you cannot tell if there was any spot there. We called last week about the recall on our truck to make the appointment. We called on a Tuesday and make the appointment for the next Tuesday to do the recall and oil change and tire rotation. Dropped the truck off this morning and they told us it would be 3 or 4. So we said ok. Went back to pick up the truck at 3:30 and the only thing done was the oil change. Said that the parts for the recalled was not there. Did not say anything about that when we dropped the truck off. Did not even give us a call about it. When I made the appointment, they checked with parts about the recall. Not happy at all. No idea when the part would be there. So our day was wasted. Do not go here for a recall!!!! So this is the next day and still no call or text about the part being in! Not sure why this is not saying I am from Charlottesville Va. read more

Never take your car there for any service. They charge $100.00 to get up outta that chair and walk over to you. They want money up front, they are all inexperienced thus this is just money making. The guy I spoke to tried to talk down to me. He knew nothing about what I needed. Meanwhile my husband browsed a couple of used cars and no one would assist (no surprise). He said the cars were dirty inside and out. Anything with Carter Myers in the business in my opinion is a waste of time. Unpleasant people. Went looking for a car and came across a few I liked on the lot at Nissan. Laura was the one helping me. I highly do not recommend this place! Within the first week of having the car I had to replace the alternator which they told me was new. Then the check charging system came on and I had to replace the battery as well On top of a new gasket and seal because the oil was leaking everywhere which they knew about And wouldn't offer to replace. Highly don't recommend Them! I also Had their mechanic look it over before purchasing and he even told me everything looked fine and Laura proceeded to back him up and tell me it's okay to drive with an oil leak because her daughter does lol just go somewhere else! First visit and wow what an unpleasant experience to say the least. I made an appointment to get my seatbelt that would not retract checked out to see if it was covered under warranty. The first thing the guy says is "Did they tell you it will be $119.95 for us to take a look at it if it is not covered under warranty." Do you realize how money hungry this makes you sound? It really makes you seem like you are most interested in making money first and foremost. I mean you were seriously going to charge me an hour's worth of labor to check a seatbelt? Anyway, I said I just want to know if it will be covered under warranty so the guy went out and pulled the drawn out seatbelt that was laying on the seat and it slowly retracted back. He was like "What's wrong with it? I don't see anything wrong with it." I said "I guess you fixed it" just so I could get out of there before things got ugly. Ok, let me tell you AGAIN, the seatbelt does not retract properly. You got it to retract but it was slow and not normal. Also, it should automatically retract and should not ever sit there drawn out on the driver's seat like it was when you opened the door. They need to put this guy in the back away from customers. It was only Monday, can't imagine how he acts by the end of the week. One of the most unhelpful people I have ever dealt with. In the end I guess I will just deal with this even though it is probably unsafe. Probably less painful than wasting my time at this place. read more

Came in checkbook in hand ready to buy a car. Waited for 10 minutes for anyone to talk to me. Between two sales reps I talked to they couldn't decide if they had the car I was looking for on the lot or not, but kept me waiting around for 35 minutes. In the 45 minutes I waited I could have walked the whole lot and looked at every car. Hate to think how arduous the buying process here would be after this woeful experience. Buy elsewhere. Update: After buying elsewhere I brought my Nissan here as it's the only Nissan dealer in 75 miles of me. Was LIED to by the service department that my car had a bad head gasket (they recommended rebuilding the engine to the tune of $4000++) when it in fact has a very small valve cover leak. Service department wanted $60+ for a plastic license plate bracket. Clearly they don't take me seriously as a woman and they assume I couldn't know a thing about my car because I'm female. If you're looking for a mechanic you can trust or a professional sales experience go elsewhere!! read more

Got my car at Colonial Nissan, best place and great customer service. Bought my Altima after got rear ended, the staffs assisted me with all the paperwork and cars information before I actually picked. I had test drive more than 5 times. The Nissan team always make sure that their service up to par and beyond expectations. One time i had difficulty making an oil change appointment, the next time i had my oil change they did it without charging me. Very attentive staffs, they explained to you thoroughly the service they do to your car. Great local business to buy a car. read more

I took my car here to get some recall work done on the airbag. I asked them to check on the cruise control and the rear hatch which both weren't working if it wouldn't take them too much more time. it took them eight hours to diagnose the two problems and fix the airbag, which is fine, and both repairs would have been way outside of my budget, which is also fine, so I just told them I'd pass on the other repairs and just pay the labor for the diagnosis. Unfortunately when it was time to pick up my car it turns out they had accidentally broken a piece in the steering wheel and now it wasn't drivable and would have to wait until at least the next day to be fixed, if they were lucky enough to order the part on time. Being now stuck in Charlottesville (I live and work in Orange) I stayed with a friend and planned to miss at least one more day of work. The next day, after getting no updates from the shop, I called at 1: 30 to find out that luckily the part had been delivered but the work hasn't been started yet. After another hour I got the call that it was ready, so I use their shuttle service to get me there. The shuttle driver proceeded to drive me around for 45 minutes. I could have taken an Uber which would have taken five. When I picked up my car I found out that they were nice enough to only charge me for an hour of labor and well as parts, so the cost of a key copy and two diagnoses came out to only $240+2 days of lost wages. Personally, I don't hold this against any individual employee, that is why I am giving them two stars instead of one. Everyone that worked in the office, and I'm sure even the mechanic that broke the part in my car are totally fine people and I understand that stuff happens. All that being said I had to miss two days of work and get dragged around for this many hours only to then still have to pay money in the end. I personally feel like if I were a manager of this place I would do two things differently, first I would communicate with my customers to let them know how the process is going, and if I screwed up this badly I definitely wouldn't charge them anything. I'm not sure where the next closest Nissan dealership is to me, but if I'm unfortunate enough to have to go to a dealership for service again it would be worth at least another hour of travel to me to go somewhere else. read more
