I saw a car for sale on Cars.com that was being sold by this dealership. I contacted them, and I…read moregot the usual, tacky pitch: "...would you like to schedule a time to stop by for a good test drive?" In the very next email, I got, "Will you have some time this week to stop by and take the car for a spin?" There was a discrepancy about the price and in my reply, I asked him to clarify what the price was, which he did, and then I asked him, "Haven't you ever sold a car to someone sight unseen?" I got back what I consider to be a snotty, condescending reply, that said, "And no sir.. I would not sell a 14 year old car to someone sight unseen. It's a very inexpensive car with very low mileage - it will sell quickly." (According to the Carfax, the first owner owned the car for eight years, and the second owner owned the car for five years, and the odometer reading was only 26,100 miles). Michael Dye was the person I was communicating with. As a customer, regardless, of where I am geographically located, when a salesman tells me to "jump" I turn and walk. And that's what I did. Every car I've purchased for 25 years was done either through the Internet or over the telephone and I never had any problem with any dealer in accomplishing that, nor did I ever have any problems with the various cars that I purchased that way. But Mike Dye summarily dismissed me like I was not a serious buyer. He lost a sale. In all good conscience, I could never recommend anybody who would treat a serious customer the way Mike Dye treated me.

WARNING! Avoid PRIORITY LEXUS NEWPORT NEWS! I would avoid this dealership. 20/20 hindsight, I…read moreshould have leased my GX 550 either from the Lexus dealership in Richmond, VA or waited until I moved. This is a shady, unscrupulous dealership from the sales side, to finance to service. Here are my issues: * When I leased my SUV, I knew I had good credit. My credit score was over 750 so it should warrant low interest rate/money factor. During the leasing process, I kept asking as to what my money factor would be and they kept pushing it off saying it will be covered by the finance person. There was a reason for that. * When I met with the finance person, he told me the money factor was at .0038 which is very high. That's equivalent to like 9.12% interest rate. I asked him very specifically if the dealership was adding an additional amount (markup) to the money factor because I have heard of dealerships doing that to profit more off of the sale/lease of the car. He told me "no, they are not doing that." Then I pushed it further by asking if that .0038 money factor came directly from Lexus/Toyota financial and he confirmed it was. Well, after taking my new lease home, I did some research for Toyota and Lexus and found out that dealerships commonly do mark up the money factor on a lease above the manufacturer's based money factor or called the buy rate to increase their profits. I was livid. Not necessarily because of the markup but because I felt lied to. The following Monday, I contacted the dealership and asked my sales rep to have the General Manager of the dealership contact me. I was upset because this finance manager lied to my face not one, but twice. After hearing this, the dealership contacted me back and told me that they will have me come back to re-sign a new lease with a much better money factor. It would be .0028 versus the original .0038. That lowered the interest rate from that 9.12% down to a 6.72%. Do I believe for one minute that my money factor/interest rate couldn't be even lower than that, no. They have shown their ability to be shady, unscrupulous, act like your stereotypical car dealership. Scamming people to no ends. * And most recently, I took my new GX 550 into service because a black plastic trim around my side window was warping. Initially, the service manager tried to blame me questioning what had happened or what I did. I told her nothing I did caused this...and there's no way to damage a 2" part of the trim on the inner side without damaging more of that area. She then proceeded to ask if I had looked over the car carefully before taking possession and I told her I looked it over but did not look at every single part of the car to ensure nothing was wrong. C'mon. The part that I am speaking of is only about $106 retail. She stated should would send the pics to Lexus and see what they say. Over a $106 part? Then I asked the service person how much it would cost me to replace that part with labor and quoted me $340. Another Lexus dealership quoted me only $150 to replace that part. Again, very shady dealership. It's apparent to me that this high end luxury dealership does not value its customers. If they had done the right things each of these times, they could have earned a repeat customer for the future. Instead, I question their business practices and I also question Lexus. It may be enough to keep me from buying/leasing a Lexus again. Long story short, if you don't want to get ripped off or treated badly, go to any other Lexus dealership. Do NOT go to PRIORITY LEXUS NEWPORT NEWS. Don't buy a car from them...don't take it to their service department.

We visited several dealers in the area, but we didn't find anything that really appealed to us. We drove several brands but we didn't "love" any of them, and I'm not going to buy a car, that I don't absolutely love. We decided to increase the scope of our search to include a much wider area, and so, we stopped by Priority Lexus in Newport News. The sales staff and management were very friendly, knowledgeable and patient with us. They were able to answer all of our questions about the Lexus brand, completely and to our utmost satisfaction. We drove the TX 350, and both the ride, as well as the interior room was to our total satisfaction. We have 2 grandchildren and we wanted the additional space that 3rd row seating provides. I'm a big guy, and I was able to climb into the 3rd row without any trouble. Once we're were satisfied that the vehicle met our requirements, we were able to settle on a price that was surprisingly affordable for a vehicle of this quality. Priority Lexus was also able to arrange competitive financing at fair market rates. In other words, they didn't gouge us on the back end of the deal. This was a very pleasant buying experience, and if you are in the market for a new or used vehicle, I urge you to stop by Priority Lexus in Newport News, you'll be pleasantly surprised, and you can rest assured that you are dealing with people who are committed to your ultimate satisfaction. Todd Daniels was our salesperson and Kerry Law was the manager on duty that helped make our buying experience so pleasant! Thanks so much for all of your help, much appreciated! All the best, Bob Rice

Recently, I had oil changes and my State Inspection. Let's see how everything went. For most recent appointments, I went online and reserved dates with no hiccups. Easy peasy. Each appointment went fine with no problems. They would always have suggestions on car upkeep which are very pricey, but for the most part, I declined. Standard procedure everytime I had service. The issue I have with the dealership is how they handled my tires. For every 3,000-5,000 miles, it's suggested to have tire rotations so that the treads are even on each one. Keep in mind, I purchased the car in July 2024. Every time I scheduled for an oil change, they never brought up adding tire rotations. I work in Portsmouth so the drive will wear out the treads, which happened to where I had to replace all 4 tires. Why they never did is anyone's guess. I am glad for my vehicle being serviced, but it's puzzling regarding tire rotation notices (or lack of). This will definitely have be wonder if I should schedule them elsewhere. To be continued....

But, wow this visit was not far off from my last. So I am not sure what Nissian dealerships do in regards to training, but they are doing it all wrong. My husband and I are on the hunt for a third vehicle. We have an 18 year old commuter college student and have found ourselves in a pickle here and there. So we were waiting for December/January time frame to purchase a car. We have been researching cars for a little under a year. At the top of our list was the new Nissan 2025 Armada. We noticed they were offering 0% for Pathfinders. So we went over last week to test drive the pathfinders and an Armada if it was there. When we arrived, we parked and were greeted instantly by Asia. She was great. She had a beautiful black Armada SL available. So we took that for a spin. Both my husband and I loved it. We then took the pathfinder out and almost instantly I was not in love with it. There was nothing wrong with the car itself. It was too similar to my Hyundai Santa Fe. So we walked in to talk numbers about the Armada. That's when things seemed to change. We started talking numbers. Nothing was working for us. The payments were just going to be too high in the end. Could we afford it, yes absolutely. But we done want to have somethings that high that we can not enjoy life as well. They really were not budging. What rubbed me wrong is when Carlos the manager came up. He was trying to direct all his attention to my husband instead of both my husband and I. We both have jobs, we both pay bills. We work together as a team in our household. It is never him against me and vis versa. This happened at the other NIssian dealership. Then he asked my husband, "Well how much do you make? What do your bills look like?" Then joked, like yeah you don't have to tell me that. He wanted and did give my husband advice to pay his care note every two weeks. Sir. Kindly. No. We do not need advice like that. No matter how you make a payment it will always be the same in the end. There were a few more things said, we ended up walking out because we know we can go elsewhere. In the end of things I just wanted to be treated well when buying a car. It should never be like this. This is a fun and exciting time for some. Yes, we are spending a lot of money but, I do not want to roll out of the parking lot with my new car having negatives attached to it. Why is buying a car like this. We had a FANTASTIC experience at the Hyundia dealership. We are going shopping this weekend with our pre approval... that we had when we visited them, this weekend to many other dealerships. We are not pressed. We just want to be treated well and nice.

When I did the test drive I wasn't shown the basic controls, I was left to figure it out on my own. The sales guy Rick honestly didn't do a good guy explaining the whole vehicle and it felt rush. Honestly if you aren't the person purchasing the vehicle then you are not part of the negotiations. They only gave me 350 for my car when I could easily sold my car for parts. My old car had new spark plugs and tires on the vehicle. The management team in my opinion isn't the greatest because getting answers from them is like pulling teeth. I work customer service for five years and if I had a customer looking for answers about certain things then I would contact them within a reasonable time frame instead of having contact me. I had to contact them and got nowhere. I recently found out there is a hole in the frame and it's not supposed to be there. Don't go there to purchase a vehicle.
