Absolute worst car buying experience ever with this site. 5th car we've bought thru CarMax, 3rd at this location and will never come back here. Screwed up paperwork, and now learn almost 3 weeks after purchasing they still haven't submitted registration paperwork to the state!!! And things we personally watched them make copies of for registration they have lost! Bring them in additional paperwork they say they need, then they tell not needed, then 2 weeks later another call they need it. Absolute nightmare of an experience!! read more

So sitting back and reviewing this CarMax experience... I would NOT recommend buying a vehicle through them. Takes a ridiculous amount of time for the vehicle to get to you...and even though they say they keep you updated, you go for over a week with no clue of where it is. Weeks later it finally shows and there are issues. Depending on who you get when you call you might get a decent person, but most often you get a rude inconsiderate person. Then when you findout the vehicle does not match what they put on the site (i.e. false advetising?) they simply don't care. In summary...buying a car online might be okay with some companies, but I would not do Carmax. read more

Online offer makes things seem seamless. The local store was full of new hires. That's only an issue once you identify the humans don't know what to do or how to do it. 1. 4pm appointment started at 5pm via phone call. But I left to go to Ellerbe Road Krogers because I was told there's no WiFi. 2. Well, they do have Wi-Fi 3. Returned at 5:30p and checked in. Was told 1 person was ahead of me so I waited. 32 minutes later they called. I remained in the parking lot and found THEY HAVE WI-FI. I never had to leave but could have worked right here during my initial wait. 2 hours later at 6p, CDT I'm writing this review. Nothing completed online is provided to the team member. We have to start from step 1 as if no info is known. Geez Louise. Plan for 2 hours or don't do this. Here's the car selling process: 1. You want to sell your car or you're interested if the price is right so go online plug in the info 2. Boom! CarMax beats 7 other places so you decided to proceed and book an appointment ** Don't check on a Sunday because the offer is valid for 7 days and no dealer is open on a Sunday for this and they won't extend this to Monday. 3. You arrive for said scheduled appointment because your email doesn't provide a link to edit or change the time. 4. If you call the number on the email you'll get the automated purgatory. 5. You arrive at the lot and park in a basic spot. 6. Check in with the receptionist desk then they'll let you know how soon someone will see you. 7. Signage says wear a mask if you're not vaccinated but I don't believe 100% are vaccinated and just choosing not to wear a mask. 8. The employee will take year, make, model, info from you and 9. Check the car. Scan the VIN. Take pictures of the car. Walk around and inspect all things to provide the appraisal. Whoa. Started this in July 2021 and didn't finish. Oh well, y'all get the point. When asked to see a truck salesman pointed to direction truck was located... farthest row from the building. Didn't want to get up until I requested him to come show me the truck. While walking to the truck I asked if I could test drive it before we walked all the way down there. He said sure, he told us to let him know when we were done looking. He left us down there and went back inside. They had no other customers. He was sitting at his desk (doing nothing) when we came back in. I was ready to test drive and he told me he needed to do a credit check before driving. His reasoning being, "I don't want you to drive it and get your hopes up and then not be able to get it." When asked before he said i only needed my license and proof of insurance. I was ready to purchase a $30,000 truck, but he didn't care. I will never buy from there and I informed me associates and friends of my experience. Buyer Beware. read more

Whoever the young lady is that was at the front desk on 08/05 @ 5:45pm was VERY RUDE! Cutting me off while I ask questions about purchasing a car. Assuming I can't "afford" a car due to my looks (I'm a nurse practitioner, I'm well off) telling me what I'm NOT approved for without even putting in the down payment that I was willing to pay. Talking so loud so that people around could hear my personal business, didn't let me finish my sentences, and cut off my question while asking the man next to me waiting (who happened to be her same color) how can she help him when she wasn't even done helping me! Needless to say, I'll take this $13k down payment elsewhere. And side note if you're reading this, the bull piercing looks an unprofessional mess lady! I had a great experience here! I made an appointment online and within minutes I received a text with an appointment time the same day. Everyone was friendly. Especially Debra! She was awesome! She was so helpful, didn't pressure me to buy or sell, she was understanding and just a great person overall. She searched for the cars that I was interested in buying and we chatted for a bit. I got a quote for me car and I left. I eventually purchased a new car elsewhere and returned later that evening to sell my car. Debra seemed genuinely happy for me purchasing my new car, and said "... You went with your heart." The process was easy and doesn't take as long as most major dealerships. CarMax really is the way "car buying should be." When the time comes for my husband to upgrade/get a new car, we will definitely go back to CarMax! read more

The customer service and car I bought were great, until it came time to finish the paperwork. The employees, including the manager, had no clue how to register my car in Florida. They led me on to think they took care of it, then 3 weeks later when I stopped by I found out they had done nothing and I had to do all the leg work to transfer my license plate to the new car. Never had a dealership brush me off after I signed the paperwork and not handle the registration paperwork. My girlfriend bought a Jeep from the Jeep dealer and they did it all for her. I have also bought cars at Infiniti, Jeep and Toyota in town and never had this issue before. read more

Do NOT buy a car from here. One of the worst car buying experiences I have had. First, the person doing the paperwork was new, and the person training her was rude and patronizing to her fellow employee and to me. Next, Car had a broken air conditioner. I saw the person pulling up the car whisper something to the Carmax agent, and I overheard the Carmax agent say, "well shut it off then", and I witnessed the other employee changing the climate settings. So this agent was trying to hide the fact that the car had a broken air conditioning system. Carmax states they do a 125+ inspection, but nope. Somehow a broken air conditioner passed inspection. Mind you, this was in August in Louisiana when it's over 100 every day and muggy. Then Carmax took 3+ weeks to repair the air conditioning. Great waiting 3+ weeks for a car you just purchased. Next is the vehicle registration. It took over 3 months to get my license plate. I called to ask about it and was told that I should get it shortly. Then I get a call from them a couple of weeks later stating that they needed more paperwork from me for the vehicle registration. Unlike the other reviewer who also had a bad experience with this dealership, I wasn't transferring a license plate from out-of-state. This was a new registration for this vehicle in Louisiana. Never should have taken 3 months, and when I finally did receive the license plate from Carmax inside manila envelope, it didn't have the paper registration. So I call Carmax back to get the paper registration, and the person at Carmax said they will submit a new request for a paper registration, and I should receive the paper registration in just over a week. Well, it's been 2 weeks now and still no paper registration. I am going to have to go to the DMV and get my own paperwork because at this point, I have zero faith in this Carmax. As the other person stated...I have never had a dealership fumble registration this badly. Not sure if I'm just unlucky, but this is two reviewers out of 3 who had registration issues with this Carmax. If you want to roll the dice with those odds, good luck. Otherwise, I advise you go somewhere else. read more

I had a wonderful experience with CarMax, my sales person was amazing and put me in a beautiful car. However, with the recent turn of events and the corona virus, I feel they should be more concerned with the health of their employees instead of making them work and consistently having to come in contact with potential sick customers. The rate of death and people who have it is consistently going up in Shreveport and it is only going to get worse. They should have a plan or make some adjustments to how they are handling this situation. read more

If you're actively looking for a car and require assistance, I would not recommend this place. I asked if they had a specific car, and once they informed me they didn't, the rep said "Thank you", basically as if I was dismissed. I turned to walk out, but since I was there ,I inquired if they sold cars. She informed me they did, and that I could look outside if I wanted too. I actually located a car I was interested in, but it did not have any information on it. I came back in to ask if the car was for sale, but another representative inquired if I had the app. I informed her I did not, in which she attempted to give me information on how to work the app to find out information pertaining to the car. I just left. They didn't feel like selling cars, and I didn't feel like buying a car from people that were not interested in selling. read more

My fiancee and I recently bought a 2017 Nissan Versa. We had an overall great experience despite returning several days with addtional information required. The staff was very professional and kind. We would recommend Car Max in Shreveport La hands down. They are definatly willing to work with you to get you the best rates. Also about a week later we received a call to make sure we are happy with our purchase and were willing to change the date of the month we would like to make our payment. read more

I've dealt with CarMax a couple of times and have had very good experiences both times.To begin with, the CarMax website is informative and easy to navigate. In the store, the staff is thoroughly professional, helpful, and very good at guiding the customer through the purchasing process. Everything went smoothly down to the last detail - and I paid a fair price for an excellent car and excellent service. If I am in the market for a car again, I will definitely go to CarMax - they give "Used Car Dealership" a good name! read more
