After an unexpected mishap with my vehicle, I've found myself in search of new wheels over the past three weeks. Having now acquired a new car, it's time for me to document my experiences in the search from the perspective of being a driver with a disability. I was doing an active online search and found a vehicle I'd been intrigued by at Carmel Auto Gallery. I'm a wheelchair user, though I've never actually driven a van (the stereotype). Instead, I drive a 2-door automatic with enough room that I can slip the folded wheelchair into my backseat. When I was younger, finding such a coupe was easy. These days, it takes a lot more work. I had arranged with a friend that they would drive me around to check out some vehicles at area auto places. I added Carmel Auto Gallery to my list. This Carmel Drive auto dealer specializes in used cars with clean titles. They also appear to finance, though I did not get to that point. They have a front parking lot. The actual cars are off to the side, though you're supposed to go in. There's someone who works the front counter, and there appears to be 3-4 associates to the side. We originally missed the front entrance thinking we'd access the lot in the back. Nope, that's their service center and there's no thru-way. As there was no accessibility via the outside (there is via the inside), we went inside and asked for a specific vehicle. You could tell it befuddled them a bit - I get that. I'm amazed at how many people don't realize a wheelchair user can drive. I was hooked up with Mustafa. He brought around the specific car I was interested in and left it running. To his credit, he wasn't high pressure and gave us time to look at it and for me to test the wheelchair. I'm not fond of the whole side lot arrangement. I think freedom to look is fairly basic. But, this isn't the only place that does that (CarMax is way more obnoxious about it). I ultimately decided this wasn't the car for me, though I was pleased to learn it would actually work with the chair. I explained what I was looking for - I was a bit disappointed that no other 2-door automatic was mentioned (I'd checked in advance - they had them). I was also a little disappointed with the "we'll keep our eyes open" comment, though they didn't bother to get my contact info. My "gut" feeling is they didn't actually realize I was a serious buyer with the cash in my pocket at the time. I was VERY serious. Blown sale. Would I return here? Maybe. It wasn't good. It wasn't bad. No one was rude, and I certainly didn't have a bad experience. I just felt like there was a lack of effort and some disability stereotyping. 2/5 stars here's why and what you should know I ran my own dealership for 16 years back in the dya, so I know a little more about buying cars and negotiating than your average Joe from the Mitten. The experience started off frustrating. I initially dealt with Daniel in sales, and the communication was poor. Questions weren't answered clearly, responses were slow and the whole deal felt shady. Then there was the pricing mess, made it even more confusing and misleading. The dealership's website showed one price, while I found at least three different prices for the exact same car across Carfax, truecar, cars.com. None of them matched, with roughly a $1,000-$1500 difference between some of the listings. If it wasn't for my background and years of experience,it's how much you as a customer would overpay for no reason. That's something the dealership really needs to clean up because inconsistent pricing is very skulduggery and raises red flags for buyers. Things did improve once I started dealing with F&I manager Nick. He was straightforward, polite and most importantly he was transparent. I asked him to honor the Truecar price and remove the unnecessary addons/fees. I appreciated that he did it without turning it into a whole negotiation battle. He also discounted the selling price further to make up for the poor experience we'd had up to that point. While we were driving down from Michigan, they got us approved at a competitive % and sent me the exact payment options ahead of time. No pressure, no last-minute surprises. We declined Gap (personally, I'd never buy it from a dealership when you can get it much cheaper through your regular insurance). We did end up purchasing a warranty though F&I manager actually SOLD my wife on it by taking the time to explain the coverage in detail rather than just pushing a product or scamming like a lot of dealerships do nowadays.I thought the terms were fair, since it's cancelable and prorated, so we took it. The dealer also gave us a full tank of gas, manager was positive and even escorted us out of town so we could avoid those ridiculous Carmel roundabouts, much appreciated. Overall, I'm happy with our new summer ride. If you're coming from out of state and want to get straight to the bottom line, my advice would be to skip the sales team and deal with someone who actually makes the decisions. Make sure to negotiate the fees, all those add ons are never mandatory. Also there seem to be too many unnecessary and illogical steps and the dealership could definitely improve its communication and pricing transparency. I'll update in about 3-6 months, once I've put enough miles on the car to see how it actually holds up and whether the dealership's claim that they thoroughly inspect their vehicles proves to be true. read more

I would strongly caution anyone considering purchasing from Carmel Auto Gallery, especially from out of state. My husband previously reviewed our experience and the owner responded. Since I cannot reply to that response, I am leaving my own review as the actual purchaser whose name is on the paperwork. Initially, I was happy with the purchase. Communication was sometimes slow, but I liked our salesman, Mustafa, and even recorded a positive video for the dealership. We purchased a 2019 Lincoln Navigator on July 7, 2026, paid nearly $40,000 in full by cashier's check, and paid for our own independent inspection because we live in Texas. About two weeks later, the A/C failed. A repair shop determined the wrong type of refrigerant had been put in the system, resulting in a repair costing us over $2,000. The title situation, however, has been far worse. At purchase, Carmel signed an Indiana Dealer Title Affidavit stating they expected to deliver or transmit a valid and transferable title by August 6. We still do not have our title. Carmel uses a third-party title company, Vitu. Carmel's title clerk later acknowledged in writing that the process "started a little later because we were waiting for the original lien release from the auction." We have repeatedly asked where our title paperwork is. We are told it was sent to Texas, but we have not been given the specific Texas office processing it, proof that Texas received it, or a transaction/application number we can independently verify. We have contacted our local Texas Tax Assessor-Collector multiple times, and they cannot locate a title transaction under our name or VIN. We contacted Vitu ourselves. Vitu told us Carmel is their client and they cannot discuss the transaction with us; Carmel must obtain the information from them. So Vitu directs us to Carmel, while Carmel has been unable to tell us where our title actually is. Communication has been extremely frustrating. We have repeatedly called, emailed and left messages. Eventually Mariya, the title clerk we had been communicating with, stopped responding, and attempts to reach management went unanswered. After being unable to reach Mariya or a manager, I repeatedly called until I reached Ariel in finance. To his credit, Ariel agreed to investigate and called us back Friday. However, he could only tell us what we already knew--that the paperwork was in Texas. I specifically asked him to contact Vitu, determine WHERE in Texas it was sent, and provide proof that Texas received it. We have heard nothing further despite the dealership being open the remainder of Friday and Saturday. After more than 31 days without title, I sent Carmel a formal written demand on August 13. A physical copy was also delivered and signed for August 17. We have also filed a complaint with the Indiana Secretary of State. Our temporary plate has now expired, leaving us with a nearly $40,000 paid-in-full vehicle that we cannot properly register. The owner responded to my husband's review stating the paperwork was completed within the required timeframe and the remaining processing is outside Carmel's control. That misses the point. We are NOT complaining that Texas is taking too long. If we could verify Texas had our application and where it was being processed, we would understand waiting. Our complaint is that after weeks of trying, we still cannot get documentation showing where our title was sent, proof the appropriate Texas authority received it, or a transaction number we can independently verify. When a dealership accepts nearly $40,000 and its own title processor will only communicate with the dealership, I expect the dealership to help locate the title--not simply tell us it is "in Texas." I will gladly update this review if and when Carmel resolves this issue. read more

I bought a Lincoln Navigator almost 6 weeks ago and still have not received the title . After we spoke to several people at the dealership nobody could help us , we left message after message and just had to keep calling because nobody would return a call . When asked where our title is we are told it was mailed to Texas but the title company mailed it and Carmel can't tell us anything . We spoke to the title company and they said if Carmel Auto would call they could tell them but not us . Now we have late fees on top of our title transfer fees we have to pay because of it taking longer than 30 days , the limit in Texas . This is the worst experience I've ever had with an Auto dealership !! read more

The only positive experience was the salesman. Purchased a Honda accord in May. A week later the car has issues. They barely did any diagnostic on the car. They did not provide any list of servicing that they executed on the car. After following up via email in trying to find a solve they just stoped responding. This is the worst experience that I have ever had. If you want a positive experience and a place that is proud of the relationships they foster and products they sell to the consumer. Save your self the headache and go somewhere else. I'll be happy to let anyone in the market for a car know the specifics on my experience. read more

Don't purchase a vehicle from this company my mother with my assistance purchased a Lincoln from this dealership after driving it twice and the purchase being two weeks ago there is a suspension issue and remote starter will no longer work. I called the sales guy mustafa he throws me off to some lady who tells me to use the warranty we purchased I stated no we should not have issues with this car yet she says the manager said no I told her he needed to talk to me directly she gets a attitude on the phones and huffs and puffs and says your unbelievable! Takes my info manager calls me and is just as rude says because I didn't purchase a 2023 and it was a 2013 that's what I have to deal with. This is not a dealership that has respect or cares for there customers! I had a good experience upfront and they changed once the sale was made ! And I was willing to go back and buy a navigator or aviator when they got one in. Straight to the point. I recently tried to purchase a car from this circus. And have never been treated so poorly ever. I went back and forth with these people for about a week. Had a downpayment like they asked. Got approved by a bank near my home like they said. I did all that only to never get calls or txt back. Some type communication. All i got was lies and the dealer run around where 10 people who aren't the sales guy try to talk to you. The sales manager is indeed a crook. They treat you like your crap basically. Not only that, but they will sell the car you were going to buy and call you by the wrong name the whole time they do it. They have no integrity and are the definition of used car sales men. Stay clear of Nick and Dimtri. This place needs some revamping and training on respect and how treat customers. Its never their issue or fault. No unaccountably over there. I said it once.
